If candy's your thing, make a trip out to this place if you're ever in Hilo. They have all manners of candy: ribbons, tubes, drops, gummies, wrapped, unwrapped, taffy in every flavor, old-fashioned old-school candies (except the ones that look like cigarettes, haven't seen those forever because it's probably politically incorrect now). They even have the craziest sodas with flavors like Bug Barf and Dog Drool, and some normal sodas like Boysenberry Pie. I was actually craving real cracked seed but all they had was li hing gummies and I didn't want the added sugar so I ended up walking out of there with a lot of cool memories via photos and nary a drop of sugar in my bloodstream.

What a lovely candy store, any child's dream! They carry all of my favorite from childhood plus all the old chewing gums like clove and blackjack. Fresh chocolates, lemon drops, Saltwater taffy, almond Rocha. We bought a small bag that we could personally mix to enjoy later!

A "real" candy store located in downtown Hilo. The store has a huge selection of hard, soft, sticky, sweet, sour, chewy, candy and gum. You name it, they probably have it. The candy is sold by the pound. The little one bought 4 pieces of bubble gum and a Hershey kiss and it was $1. I thought that was expensive and the reason for 4 stars. In terms of selection, it's 5 stars.

Every time I go to the big island I make multiple visits to sugar coast candy. They never have my milk chocolate fudge balls in stock but they have such a large selection of candy and chocolate covered things they still get a 5 star review. The selection of chocolate is vast. They also have a large variety of gummies and sour candies. They have local options and options that are shipped in. There is even a large sugar free section. Something for everyone. I love how easy it is to pick exactly what you want and how much. It is nice that you pay by weight so the line goes fast. This candy store is always busy but is always kind to every customer.

After my massage I walked around and came across this candy land. The girl working the counter was so pleasant and the place looks cozy and the variety of sweets are awesome! I'll definitely return after my next massage!

Stumbled across this candy store on our way back to the hotel and the candy was irresistible! The candies were presented so nicely and the whole shop is so cute. There were plenty of chocolates, taffy, sweets and sodas to choose from. The lady who checked us out was so sweet and helped us choose our soda. I will also note that we appreciated the cleanliness at this shop since the tongs were sanitized after each use.

This is the ultimate candy shop to satisfy your sweet tooth!! Willy Wonka would be proud of this hidden gem tucked away in Downtown Hilo. This corner store serving adults and kids of all ages to candies from every generation. You may even be lucky to find candy that takes you back to your childhood. I know I did! There are chocolates, rock candy, gumdrops, gum balls, taffy, m&m, smarties GALORE. Any candy you can imagine is there! They even got some Harry Potter chocolate frogs. These pics don't do this place justice. You just gotta be there. and yes they do charge per pound.

I don't have a sweet tooth but even I recognize a hidden gem when I see one. Located on the main strip of Hilo, this place is a great place to stop by if you're craving something sweet. The shop has a plethora of candy - taffy, chocolates, candies from all over for people to choose from. We stopped by before we went back to Waikoloa and this place provided us with just the sugar rush we needed to make the drive back. The variety of candy is really amazing for a small shop in the middle of the Big Island and prices are fair. Staff here is super friendly and amazing. Well worth a stop if you're in the area.

Um how did this place become MORE magical than my last visit? It's been a number of years since my last trip to Hilo and this time around I introduced my 9-year old daughter to all the glory that lies within Sugar Coast Candy! From the moment we entered the store she was on cloud nine from being overwhelmed by the magic of this candy stuffed store. Even my husband who rarely indulges in sweets smiled from ear to ear as he discovered some of his favorite childhood treats from taffy to gummies. Is this spot spendy? Definitely more than your average visit to Longs. Will you be transported back to your 6-year old child self? Absolutely!

So tell me why they won't open a store on Oahu!?? It's a one stop shop for all of your sugary goodness for those long car rides up Mauna Kea or a beach day! I feel like I wouldn't be able to find all these weird and random candies elsewhere! At least half of the ones I had in my bag I either haven't seen in years or don't even know where to find them. So many sizes of jaw breakers and lollipops with real bugs in them..I had to bring some back for our break room at work lol. I'm itching to come back and satisfy my sweet tooth soon!

But as soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the wonderful staff, and the whole vibe completely changed. Inside, the space is bright, inviting, and thoughtfully set up. We were offered samples of their Kona coffee along with a couple of treats of the day, which was such a nice touch. As you walk around, you can actually watch them making their delicious goodies, which makes the experience even more fun and tempting. The shop was beautifully decorated for the upcoming Easter holiday, and they also had some really lovely gift boxes--perfect if you're looking to bring something home for family or friends. There's also a small area where you can grab drinks (and possibly ice cream too). I ordered a green tea latte, and it was absolutely wonderful. Overall, such a cozy, welcoming spot with great treats and friendly service. Definitely worth stopping by--whether you're craving something sweet or looking to pick up a thoughtful gift!

I'm also glad I happened to be a couple blocks away at that time, cause it would've stunk if I'd missed out! They have a whole range of great chocolates, from 55-90 percent that were all great, a fantastic matcha chocolate, great dried fruit chocolates, and one very good, *very* spicy dark chocolate (I loved it enough to buy a bar, but much more so than most pepper chocolates I've had, it does *not* play around.) Definitely also loved that they had samples of basically everything they sell. Also loved, we learned, it was actually the chocolatier himself running the shop when we were there, so all our questions were being answered directly from the source. It also worked out in that they didn't actually *have* any bars of the spicy chocolate out, as he'd just made a new batch and hadn't packaged them yet, so when he learned we were leaving the next day, he pressed one for me right then and there! How's that for great service?

I got the Furkaki fish with green salad. If i was basing my rating only on this dish, I'd give it 5 stars. Yum! It was piping hot and it came with a thousand island dressing that i think was home made and it was way better on the fish than the tartar sauce. So i ate the salad and the fish together with that sauce. Amazing! My husband had the chicken with curry on it. This was good, but not great. The Chicken was sliced too thin so there was more breading than chicken. And there wasn't quite enough curry sauce on top of it to really get a good curry flavor. There was a lot of it so my husband didn't even eat all of it. He got the Ube side and it was really interesting for someone not from Hawaii. But I really liked it. More about the place: it's a little market and they sell all kinds of dried fruit and other spices and things. The have a counter in the back you order at. It took a bit to make the food, but it was fresh! The seating area is outside and they have picnic tables with umbrellas. We ended up taking it to eat at the beach. If I'm ever back in Hilo, I would definitely go back for the fish!
