A little bit overpriced but what can you do, good food for sure. And very good service, the employees there are super kind and helpful. The scenery was very nice and the vibe was calm. Its a little loud in some areas because of the echos, but its not bad at all read more

I have been to Sweet Cafe a few times and I had never had any issues. I loved their food and their servers. Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience this past weekend. I had set reservations for breakfast after our daughter's church dedication. The reservation was for 7 people at 10:30am. We arrived less than 10 minutes late and when I went to claim the table the host rudely told me they had gave the table away because we did not check in and we would have to wait. I was so turned off by the rude treatment that my family went elsewhere to celebrate the joyous occasion. This experience almost ruined the day. I will not be supporting this business any longer and it is unfortunate because I never had any problems until this past weekend. read more

Great food. People and cleanliness! Can't go wrong here! Make this a sure go to for your breakfast needs!

I got the original eggs benedict but switched out the english muffin with the chive biscuits for an upcharge. Completely worth it!!! The breakfast potatoes was the best that I ever had. Very clean inside and the staff is very friendly. read more

Let's say I was disappointed. Came in and was given a nice table by the window. We both ordered Ham and Brie panini $14 each. Nice size bread. As the the insides... It looked like 1 slice of del ham, 1 slice of Brie, 1 quarter of a slice of apple... Had to ask for soda refills. Wrong side brought with the one order. She did check what she had written. She had written it correctly. She just did not check the order before she brought it out. This is the part that really ticked me off. The waitress brought us the check and said you can pay at the cashier. About 10 minutes later she comes back and says she is leaving. We can just pay her. My thought was that she wanted us to pay her so that she could get her tip. She did say there was no rush in us leaving. She could have just told us she was leaving and we would have a different server. We gladly would have given her 20% of total bill. With that said, she went over to her replacement. Both of them looking at us obviously talking about us. I would bet she told her to watch for the tip as we had not given it to her yet. The restaurant at this point was fairly empty. She did not leave for another 15 minutes. Her replacement kept looking at our table as she walked by numerous times while attending to another table. While she looked for the tip, she did not ask to refill drinks, etc. The restaurant was fairly empty at this time. Needless to say we did not leave even 15% tip when we left. We live in the neighborhood. We will not be returning. read more

Good full service breakfast place. Recently opened in the renovated space that was formerly Big Top Restaurant. Weekends you can expect a wait and it is noisy and a little chaotic. Once seated, there really isn't a bad seat in the house, and the staff is well trained at this newly-opened point in time. Lots of action, high energy vibe, high density table layout. The parking lot does not seem nearly big enough, but was also newly constructed with the rest of the building. We will be back, as will the rest of the neighborhood and their extended families. read more

This place is awesome! Our waitress was really nice and talked to us, the ambiance was great as well! There was a screened in outdoor section that was really cool. Last but not least the food was great! We had the Berry Waffles, Challah French Toast and the Greek Omelete, all were delicious. read more

The location is the old Big Top restaurant, which been completely renovated and transformed into a nicer, newer breakfast/brunch spot. I went solo just to check it out and had the sausage benedict (I thought it was ok and sausage patties tasted like frozen patties you get from the store) with breakfast potatoes (these were good), side of corned beef hash (just ok, nothing special) and a green juice (good but pricey for the amount you get). Service was fine, waitress was nice and attentive, which you'd expect for a newly opened restaurant. I love that it's close to where I live and would go again to order some different things. I do feel the place is pretty pricey, the portions are nice and I'm sure they'll adjust. read more

We have been to Sweet Cafe three times since it opened and every time have been very happy with both the food and the service! The quality of the dishes is always excellent and the servers uniformly great! In particular, we like Sandee, who is a step above the average person who waits on tables. She is extremely attentive, and seemingly very interested in doing everything she can to make our dining experience nice. We very much appreciate this and think she-AND Sweet Cafe-deserve to be publicly applauded! read more

Stopped in for the first time. Nice place. I was greeted and seated right away. The Bussers were very attentive, brought me water, my decaf and picked up my plates. I had a Denver Omelette with potatoes and pancakes. I never had potatoes like that, they were very good. The food was great and so was the coffee. The coffee cream came warm and it made the coffee taste very good. I also liked the added touch of the cloth napkin. My only negative was the server, she had a pretty ruff personality, it was more of a truck stop server personality. The female Bussers are the ones who were really nice. I'll go back, I'll just make sure I sit somewhere else. One other thing that did bother me was a fee added to my bill called a "Service fee." Prices were on the higher side. read more

Everything! The wait staff, the owners are all fabulous people! They seem to really care about you. The food is great! Im going through the entire menu & am very happy there are many favorites coming from my taste journey! The modern design of the restaurant on the site if the previous old big top restaurant is petite yet visually expansive. It feels like a green house with all of the light being brought in from all the wonderful glazing! Go there for fun people, great food & ambiance! read more

Our 1st experience with this new jewel added to the neighborhood had a small hiccup however George fixed it fast and without being condensing. We have to admit that we were super excited to have them finally open and couldn't wait to dive in. My husband picked me up the Brunch Burger. The bacon was on the thick side and was tender and crisp. The flavor was fresh and not over powering. The over easy egg was cooked to perfection with the whites cooked and not runny. The yoke was delicious. The beef patties had the char broil flavor but not over powering like baby bear says...just right! The bun was fresh and held everything together nicely without falling apart. All in all a very good 1st impression along with a desire to dive deeper into the menu. Sweet Cafe is a welcomed neighbor and refreshing brunch spot. Oh yes BTW, hubbs said it is very beautiful inside! Next order I will take and post pictures. I started eating my burger and well didn't stop lol. read more

Yet another terrible place around here! It was nothing like the pictures. I just had a plain 'ol burger, and they botched that to hell and back to the point where I couldn't even eat it! I just ended up munching on the fries that tasted like they were boiled. But that was better than my wife's omelet that was rubbery, and had huge chunks of unsauteed onions in them. Even her hash browns were more like mashed potatoes, not crispy at all like you'd expect! I just have to accept that I'll have to drive a bit to get anything good. read more

Ruben was terrible. About 1 oz on chopped brisket on sandwich. Little thousand island dressing, so waitress ask if I would like more. I said yes as there so little on the sandwich. On check I was charged an additional dollar for this. Waitress never mentioned that charge when she saw almost none on sandwich. It's not the dollar, but lack of information on her recomme.dation. disappointed in this place. read more

Yummy eggs Benedict, good hash browns. The service was good too. Nice place to have in the neighborhood!

Ordered the chicken panini for $14. It really needs more chicken/panini stuff in there for that price. Was mostly bread. Needs more insides. Was only ok, I make better ones at home. I will give them another shot but order breakfast, maybe that's where they shine. Service was great though. read more

Finally a good breakfast place in the area. The place looks beautiful inside and is incredibly clean and tidy. There is a ton of natural lighting and the sunroom seating area is very nice as well. The omelettes that we ordered were just the right amount of crispy and fluffy and seasoned and the veggies and additions weren't too big or too small. The potatoes that it comes with are on an entirely different level! Crispy, smooth and buttery and garlicky. Honestly none of it needed any salt or pepper or anything because they were just *chefs kiss* The pancakes were soft and fluffy as well and cooked perfectly and the butter and syrup they came with took them over the top. If I could give this place a 10/10 I would! We will definitely be going back and trying other menu items and telling others about it! read more

The staff at Sweet Cafe is always welcoming and provides excellent service. They are very attentive and make sure everything is to your liking. I appreciate the consistency. By far, Sweet Cafe is our favorite breakfast spot. Chilaquiles was terrific and aren't on the main menu. Therefore, have it before it's gone. Adobo Pork was so tasty, and the whole dish had a good balance of spice and seasoning. read more

The food was great fast tasty coffee was too strong for my liking, Big portions. The service was a bit annoying waitress did not leave us alone to view the menu it was our first time there and there were so many options to choose from we just picked anything after she came over to us 5 times in less than 10. That is very frustrating also the very small parking hard to find parking. read more

Delicious every single time. So glad this place is in the neighborhood but it would be worth the trip if it wasn't.

We tried this spot for breakfast for the first time recently and were pleased with the food and the service. We would go back again. We got there before 8:00 on a Saturday, so it wasn't too crowded. However, it was still a little hard to hear over the noise. I imagine it must be much much harder to hear when the restaurant is full, so I would highly recommend doing something to dampen the sound if possible. Otherwise we had a nice experience. read more

Sweet Cafe - Steak and eggs! - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I was looking forward to this place, mostly because of the online neighborhood hype. We had a table of 6 and waited 30 mins for a table. We were sat at a cramped table 1/2 booth and 1/2 table with chairs on either side. Cramped. I have to say, the place is beautiful and very busy. Service was just eh. Waited forever for the server to come and take our drink/coffee order. Then forever for her to bring the coffee. The forever MORE to get cream and spoons for our coffee. Painfully slow. Food was good, but I think overpriced for the area since I can go elsewhere for cheaper. I like that they serve alcohol like breakfast Bellinis and martinis. Server messed up on our order and didn't bring the sides that were supposed to come with it. Took forever to get butter and syrup. Had to ask multiple times for a refill on my coffee. I shouldn't have to do that. Then we get the bill and she overcharged us on the OJs. We ordered small, she brought large and charged us for a large. She was aggravated when I told her she charged me the wrong amount. I had the front desk fix it. I might go back but they need to brush up on the service. read more

Hands down the BEST breakfast dining spot in the Chicago area! The restaurant itself is spotless and beautifully decorated with a stunning greenhouse section that is comfortable, open and airy. The breakfast (eggs Benedict is spectacular!) and lunch selections are wonderfully prepared with the finest, freshest ingredients that set craving into high gear. The staff is cordial, professional and extremely attentive. They operate like a well-oiled machine with a touch of flair. Please go to Sweet Cafe! You will become a devoted customer. Count on it! read more

Food is overpriced for the portions. $4 for a cup of coffee and they don't come around with refills you constantly have to ask. On the bill there's a line item for "Service Fee" when I asked what the fee was they said it was if you are using a credit card. But because it's a line item on the bill it's taxed. But if you pay by cash they just subtract the fee amount not the tax. The other thing is about 39 minutes before closing one of the employees starting sweeping and there was dust all in the air. Good thing I we were done eating. read more

Bingo! Another great breakfast/lunch joint. Everything I've tried on the menu has been great. Even when I asked for tweaks to their dishes there hasn't been any issue. Great looking restaurant. Very nice place; clean with friendly staff working their a...s off to satisfy their customers. I brought my wife and other son in today, all together. My wife got the SC chicken Pesto Panini, and house potatoes, both were very good and she said she enjoyed them. I think the potatoes were the best I've had here thus far. My kids split a children's hamburger meal with a bonus fruit cup on the side. They finished it all, just barely and the fact that my kids ate everything is a testimony, let me tell you! I ordered a sweet plate this time. I never order sweets for breakfast but I couldn't resist the description of the cinnamon roll French toast option. I have a weakness for good cinnamon rolls. This was a good dish and locked into the flavors of cinnamon roll with its buttery cinnamon drizzle and icing, Dunn Farms maple syrup. The service is efficient and orderly, we got our food very quickly and Everything was smooth and good. We enjoyed our Brunch, which means a lot, because we usually only get out for Brunch once a month these days. It feels great to go and enjoy it. And the atmosphere here is clean and modern urban kitchen. There are plenty of good reasons to eat here. read more
