We were headed down to a concert being held at Huntington Bank Pavilion and this awesome spot was on the way off of Highway 14. We could've easily stopped at a sub shop, but after having seen so many great reviews about this place, we decided to order a Cuban sandwich and a Steak.Jibarito. Not only was the staff super friendly, but they were super fast having our order ready in less than 10 minutes! I was very impressed by the quality of the food, and my husband loved his steak sandwich which essentially had plantains in place of bread. Very tasty although it needed slightly more seasoning. The fries were delicious as was the salad option as well. Overall, delicious food, job well done! read more

This was a great neighborhood find! My brother and sister took me to the most delicious brunch at this restaurant. Customer service was thoughtful and friendly. Food was delivered quickly, even with the Mother's Day crowd. We all had breakfast items, and I must say that my eggs Benedict was one of the best I have ever had. We have been going here for lunches or weeknight dinners for a while and we always love it- but I finally got in to try the new(ish) weekend breakfast/brunch and it was so good! I had a breakfast burrito, which is always my go to if I see it on a menu, and theirs is amazing. Love the house potatoes with peppers and onions mixed in. Kids had pancakes and eggs and were very happy also. Unlike the casual counter ordering during the week, the brunch is actually table service and they were super friendly. They have a full coffee bar which certainly adds to the experience. I love the new space since they have expanded. If you haven't tried the breakfast yet, go now! read more

On a tight schedule and just wanted something quick. Chicago hot dogs are the best answer. Small place, limited parking, but friendly staff and a good menu. Hot dogs are delicious. Son ordered a burger, and it was as good a gourmet. I do recommend this place. read more

Can't believe more people don't come here, this should be the new Chicago standard for Chicago food. Personally I would go for the steak jibarito a must try and the guys working are local business owners, great to see in a great neighborhood. They just expanded so it is more than comfortable to sit and dine in. read more

Just enjoyed a delicious brunch at Sauganash Grill. They were a great addition to the neighborhood when they opened a few years ago. Now they serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 AM until 2 PM. Kid, friendly, conversation, friendly, and free parking behind the restaurant. read more

Sauganash Grill on Peterson and Sauganash opened last week for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 8 - 2. Today I picked up a breakfast burrito. The portion is so generous and you have the choice of breakfast potatoes or fruit. I'll go back tomorrow and order something different. Unfortunately the breakfast menu isn't posted online yet. Good food. Good customer service. When we asked them about our milkshakes, which were made a little "thin", they corrected the issue by making us new "thicker" shakes at no costs and with no attitudes about doing so. Would come back again. read more

Other than a nice looking restaurant, french fries and fresh ingredients the items we ordered were not good . We ordered a Cesar salad wrap and veggie salad . The wrap was loaded with croutons. The croutons dried out the wrap and couldn't taste what was in it . I usually like croutons in a Cesar salad . Now the salad was 1 star . It was a large salad , maybe 5 cups of lettuce, 1 teaspoon of beans 1tablespoon of cucumber, small handful of onion , 3 cherrie tomatoes and a slice of avocado. This place is a winner in my book. It doesn't look like traditional Chicago dog. The tomatoes are diced, they use a thin pickle slice, nestled in the bun. I love the concept of getting all the toppings in one bite. The owner son explained that they chop everything fresh. The dog was good and beefy tasting. The topping played well with the dog. The fries were fresh and they use a flake salt on them. You can actually taste it. If I had to nitpick it would be the bun. Soft and good, but a little chewy. More substantial than S Rosen. Seriously pleasant surprised! They took over where a hot dog place I loved used to be ( best fries ever!) so I was apprehensive. Complete remodel and is clean and welcoming. Kind of an upgraded hot dog place. You can get a dog or a burger, but also jibaritos, great tacos ( steak was seriously good), a creamy smoothie, and a lot more. Fries were great which is really important to me and T. Sauces were house made. We had a chimichurri sauce and a really good and spicy chilé sauce. A creamy mango smoothie topped it off. Nice spin on a Cuban too with pork belly. Needless to say, well worth the visit. T said her brothers would love it, and they own a German beer garden in Texas. A couple of tables outside to enjoy the weather on nice days :) Parking is limited, but there are a few places directly in front, and I believe if you go through the liquor store lot, they have some spaces in back too. I feel as if, I own all the same ingredients used in their meals (in the summer anyway). As if, we go to the same stock up store and buy similar items. Ha. I wonder if they were thinking. "Look at all this extra we have from buying at Costco. Could we make money with it? Maybe throw some simple recipes together and call it a grill?" Basically an extended menu of Costco's grill. Food items are vanilla/ quite standard. Food is ample and hits the spot for a decent meal. I appreciate their French fries. LoL. I hate standard grills with bad, old fryer oil and crappy from-the-bag frozen fries. Since this is still new, their fries are fresh looking & tasty. Parking is hard to come by in front due to restrictions, I believe they offer spots at the rear. Food options are limited in this area which is mostly neighborhood. Grills are plenty but spaced about a 1/2 mile in any direction. read more

I'm amazed that I'm giving this place a full five stars, but I was also amazed by the food. On paper (or on menu) this place seems to be a overly priced hotdog and taco stand. However, based on the quantity and quality, it's worth checking out! My family went with a mix of food which included a bacon cheeseburger, steak sandwich, and both chicken and steak tacos. The bacon cheeseburger was very nicely done, but pretty standard. I'm not saying that as a bad thing as it was a really good solid bacon cheeseburger. The bacon was crispy which was nice. Fries were good too! The biggest surprise was the steak sandwich which came with nice peppers and cheese. I'm definitely getting that next time! The tacos were also excellent and come with probably the best green salsa I've ever had! The tacos are a little on the expensive side, but they are jammed packed with meat that Cooke easily fit two tortillas. This place is the real deal Sauganash! Really great lunch spot! And very close by. My husband enjoyed a Cubano while I tried their steak jibarito and mango smoothie. First, the smoothie was perfectly creamy and delicious. I will definitely order this again. My husband said the Cubano was decent and that he might order it again. Although flavorful, unfortunately, the steak in the jibarito was super tough and thick. Unlike thin steak usually in steak jibaritos. I'll try a burger or hot dog next time. read more

A very solid neighborhood joint located just west of Pulaski and Peterson. Clearly popular with Sauganash locals. We got a mango smoothie and Cuban sandwich-- both quite delicious and high quality. We ordered takeout, and our food was ready for pickup in 10 to 15 minutes. It's a small place, with 2 booths in front and a few 2-seater tables. They do a good takeout business. So... I had high hopes for this place because neighbors liked it. I really wanted to like it. Here's what we ordered: 1. Cheeseburger with bacon (Subpar but cooked the right way) 2. Gyros (Don't do it. Absolute trash. It's the stuff that they sell at Jewel in the packets) 3 Fried chicken sandwich (Good. What you'd expect) 4. Steak taco (Better than the gyros but still meh) 5. Food is great, prices are awesome, people are friendly. I would put pictures up but I had to just eat it up! Double cheese burger is melt in your mouth great and definitely worth the money. Food Truck = Rude Truck I went to their food truck located at the foot of the foot bridge going over Lake Shore Drive. The day was hot and I figured I could use some water. I purchased the cheapest bottled water they had, a 20 ounce Dasani for $2.50. The girl who rang it up asked for $2.75. I asked her why it said $2.50 on the menu, and she stated that it was tax and then moved a sanitizer bottle which had obscured the part of the menu which indicated payment types accepted and also said "+ TAX." This part had been obscured by the bottle. I had assumed the price included the tax since many of these mobile food places just include the tax in the price. After removing the bottle she said, "Right here. Read it." I was amazed. The kicker was that the bottle I got was 16.9 ounces rather than the 20 ounce bottle indicated on the menu (it clearly showed a 20 ounce bottle of Dasani). Disappointing experience! read more

Been there a couple times already. Steak tacos are perfectly marinaded/seasoned. All ingredients are fresh and flavorful. Fries are pretty good. Jibarito sandwich is good but I'm not really into those anyway. Cuban sandwich was made with all the real ingredients you would expect and was exceptional. I stopped in for a hot dog the other day because any place with a Vienna Beef sign in their window is aces in my book. The Chicago dog was not "traditional" but it was tasty and they gave us a ton of fries. I took a look at their other reviews and it looks solid. I will totally return to this place. read more
