We ordered two appetizers, the bacon & potato croquettes and the corn bread in the iron skillet. They were both very good. I had the Prime Rib, it was flavorful and brought out exactly how I wanted it--rare. My daughter had the rotisserie chicken and was very pleased with her meal. My wife had the Pike Place Salmon with the smashed cucumbers. She would order it again. The skillet cookie we ordered to share for dessert was very undercooked. It was just a smidgeon over raw dough. While it had the ice cream, it didn't have the caramel the menu advertised. A few more minutes in the oven would have solved the raw dough issue The server was obviously new and had some missteps. He was late to greet the table in a half full restaurant. The drinks had a late arrival-after the appetizers had arrived and never came back to check on the table. It also took an inordinate amount of time to find him to get the check then having him return with the receipt. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, extra points given for having immaculate restrooms. Some suggestions: Perhaps another potato option(s) besides mashed or fries. Popped in on a Saturday for an early dinner, sat at the bar. Drinks were good, we ordered a dirty martini and an old fashion. Food, I ordered the rotisserie chicken, good as always and my bf ordered the half slab of bbq'd baby back ribs. Issue with the ribs considering they're labeled as "the best in town". The half slab is priced at $19 or full slab $34. The sauce is not made in house, it is smoke daddy bbq sauce. For $19 I would expect a little more meat on the ribs and less fries and coleslaw. Charging $19 for a plate FULL OF SIDES is absurd and insulting to the customer. We could have went down the street to chilis for the same price and more rib meat than was what plated at Crosby. The half slab is no bigger than a McRib. Most of that slab was all BONE. The manager was kind enough to replace the ribs for another rotisserie chicken and complimentary second round of drinks. They stated they'd take the complaint to corporate. Not sure who is in charge of purchasing meats but cmon, the meat to side ratio is completely off with this dish, along with the pricing. There is no way potatoes and cabbage take up half the cost of $19. Either change butchers/meat vendors or rename this plate to fries and coleslaw with a side of SOME ribs. read more

What a great place for a family friendly lunch out! Went for Valentine's Day with our infant and they were able to accommodate a space for our stroller at the table. Came here for a family member's baby shower and we all raved about the food! Definitely come here for brunch. The prices are typical of a brunch place and it was definitely bustling on a Sunday around lunch time. Service was friendly and prompt and the waiters checked up on us pretty frequently. Standouts to me were the monkey bread, the spinach dip and the eggs Benedict. The room where they held the event sat about 40 comfortably and you could definitely have more people as well. Our son was here in the Niles area for three months last year for an internship. He introduced us to Crosby's and it's now one of our favorite restaurants here in Illinois. He relocated to the area about two months ago after receiving an offer the company he interned at. Needless to say we had to celebrate his accomplishments by coming to Crosby's for a few meals. The food was excellent as usual. Our server on Sunday was Kai and she was fantastic. Great service and excellent menu advice from her as well as a very professional and friendly attitude. We enjoyed the BBQ Glazed Salmon, the Maryland crab cakes, the Bang Bang steak salad, All American cheeseburger. Our staters were the Lobster deviled eggs and the bacon and potato croquettes. When Crosby's in Niles opened up they were a huge hit in the neighborhood, as we need trendy restaurants in Niles, Skokie, Sauganash etc. We would frequent Crosby's almost every two weeks and even went for Easter brunch, which was amazing. The trouble started on Mothers day brunch. Food was awful compared to Easter brunch and service was surprisingly a bit slow. My family and I went backe last week and the service was extremely slow, food took a very long time to come out (even though they weren't busy on Saturday!), and they wouldn't substitute my fries for mashed potatoes because it was against company policy. What the hell? I went to RPM steak the week after and they accommodated every single request, no questions. This is what sets you apart. So sad to see this once great gem, go down the drain. read more

We went during brunch /lunch and one of their most popular items is their cornbread in a pan which can be eaten directly out of the pan and very good! I got the chorizo tostadas for breakfast which I thought was decently hefty but maybe not as flavorful as I was hoping. The chili lime melon was a nice complement . Bummed to report that the service here was pretty bad tonight. A few examples: Drink didn't arrive until after the meal and was watery by the time it was delivered bc it clearly was sitting made for a while. Sent out deserts and didn't bother to clear the dinner plates that were obviously finished. And didn't give the kids spoons for their ice cream right away so it melted by the time it was received. Also, no birthday candles on hand?! Put kids hot hot food directly in front of them bc the table was full of menus. Why not help clear the table and make some room? Had to ask for extra plates multiple times for our massive, to share desert. The kicker. Charged us for kids meals when they are free before 6. When we asked they removed from bill. I'm not exaggerating when I say we had one of the most tender, juicy, smoky filets we've ever tasted--cooked to absolute perfection. Great place for bland white people food. The service is really good. The place is clean. Starting with the water, it served how I like without ice, glasses are very clean. We started with the lobster deviled eggs, the presentation was nice but there were only three halves of a deviled egg. It really didn't taste like lobster or anything just deviled egg.. I wouldn't recommend it as it was $16 for an egg and a half. For an entree I had the blackened mahi-mahi fish sandwich with a side salad and my daughter had a cheeseburger cooked medium with a side salad. She said the burger was pretty good. My mahi-mahi fish sandwich was cooked well and blackened well but was extremely bland. The fish sandwich came on a hamburger bun with hamburger dressings: sliced onion, tomato and lettuce. Go to the one on Southport- skip the Niles one. Slow service, average food. Nothing special about the interior although they do have an outdoor area. Difficult to park- parking lot is very undersized for the size of the restaurant. Server was slow and something was wrong with every order. My daughter ordered the omelet with fruit and got fries. Another person in our group ordered the steak sliders with steak sauce. Was brought au jus and hot sauce. I ordered the wrightwood salad- the chicken was beyond disgusting. It looked like the chicken I throw out when cutting up a rotisserie chicken. I showed the waitress the plate of chicken that I picked out of the salad and she brought it back to the kitchen. The manager stopped by to ask how things were and I told him about the chicken and he wandered off. We asked for the check which took some time to come. Oh by the way we had our 2 1/2 year old grandson with us who was well out of patience with all the waiting. When we finally got the bill, we were charged the full price for everything including my half eaten salad with no chicken. There was a 3.5% admin fee added to the check. We paid cash and left. Late post We celebrated our aunt's 88th birthday yesterday and had a private room reserved. The space is clean, and the ambiance and decor are modern. Parking is ample. The staff is warm and welcoming. Although I cannot remember the names of our servers for the evening, they were pleasant and very accommodating. From time to time, other staff came in to assist. We had a prefixed menu served family style. For appetizers, we had their mini filet sliders and Wrightwood salad. Our two entrees were rotisserie chicken and salmon. The sides were mashed potatoes and charred broccolini. For dessert, we had their skillet cookie. Cocktails were separate, and hubby and I ordered our usual amaretto stone sour. Everything was tasty, but there was nothing of a wow factor. It is a great neighborhood establishment, and by the time we left, around dinner time, it was getting crowded. I had food from here many times delivered or pick up. It was our first visit dining in. The server Lily was nice, interior is pleasant, facility was clean and nice to be in with family or friends. Food was nice too. Some items are pricey for its taste, like the prime rib quality, the potato bacon croquette, or filet sliders, and I had extra salad dressing that tiny portion of extra dressing was 5$, but my kid really likes their mahimahi sandwich. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally got to with a good friend! We decided to go for Brunch, which is only on weekends until 2pm. They are located right on the corner but have a parking lot. The restaurant wasn't too crowded but we were still seated right in between 2 other tables. I would have preferred to have moved and should have asked. It was hard to talk and we were smashed at a small table where it lacked a ton of privacy. Our server was very friendly and helpful with questions - explaining the restaurant and popular items. We decided to start with the Monkey Bread with cream cheese frosting! It was really good - like a pull apart cinnamon roll. We also got a Traditional Breakfast, Wrightwood Salad, and a side of fries with ranch. Everything was pretty good! Had a wonderful time here... it was busy, so we ordered and sat at the bar. Had drinks and dessert only because we already ate dinner somewhere else. No matter- Phil the bartender was very attentive, friendly and we were recommended the Key Lime pie and Carrot Cake. Phenomenal- excellent taste- the carrot cake- frosting not crazy sweet, and was extremely moist. The key lime was also outstanding- not strong citrus tasting- and just an excellent pie as well. Had two drinks, and a coffee, and overall a pleasure to be there, moreover- wasn't so loud there that you're not screaming in order to be heard. We will most definitely go back for a main course/dinner in the near future...but if you're looking for a good trip to satisfy your sweet tooth, this place won't disappoint. I attended an event in Skokie during which lunch was provided by Crosby's Private Events & Catering, an arm of their restaurant biz. The main entrée, wood-fired rotisserie chicken, disappointed because it was all dried out. In fact, much of it went uneaten. It was accompanied by rigatoni in vodka sauce and mashed potatoes. Both had cooled to room temperature and the 'canned heat' was not sufficient to rewarm. The house salad was excellent, but unfortunately this ran out before everyone got served. An abundance of leftover dressing caused us to wonder if a tray of salad got left behind at the restaurant. Very good cornbread, however cornbread does not a meal make. read more

Came here on a Friday evening. I made reservations but didn't seem like they were necessary. We were seated inside but it was freezing cold in there with the air blowing right down on us. Our server though, she was so nice and accommodating she moved us outside which was awesome. Ordered the prime rib and steak salad with spinach artichoke dip as an app. Dip was decent, the prime rib was not, and the greens on the salad were bitter. My issue with the prime rib was that the edges were too well done, the cut itself was a very small portion(i did not finish it due to hogging the dip and half a bucket of popcorn from the movie we watched earlier). Mashed potatoes were good. Horseradish had some weird sweetness to it that it couldve done without. Our bill for those 3 items and a diet coke came out to 110$. Def felt like I got ripped off but whatever, you live and you learn right? I can't recommend this place. She also helped me with gluten free options. Fries, mashed potatoes and potato chips are gluten free. They also have gluten free buns for burgers. +$3 for gluten free buns. We had an enjoyable dinner experience. The ambience is inviting, our server was great and the food was good! My only call out would be the fries were salty (I still ate them cuz they were good - just a tad too much salt) and my prickly pear margarita was toooooooo sour. I've been wanting to try Crosby's for a while since the establishment looks really nice on the outside and the reviews have been pretty decent. I was looking forward to the rock shrimp tempura appetizer and the cornbread based on reviews and photos. Unfortunately the tempura shrimp must have been a seasonal item, as it's not on the menu. There is now a grilled shrimp option, called calypso shrimp, which I reluctantly ordered along with the cornbread. The appetizers came out in less than 10 minutes. We had no silverware. We had to wait 5 or so minutes before they brought it to us. The shrimp came to the table and was really underwhelming. It is 5 pieces of shrimp. The flavor was okay. I found the components of the dish to really not be that cohesive. You tasted some warm notes in the seasoning on the shrimp - mostly allspice or cloves. I didn't taste coconut. The calypso sauce was a mix of sweet, spicy and mustard. It wasn't appealing as it looked like squiggles of yellow mustard, and the pineapple salsa didn't do anything for the dish. The flavor was just okay. Boring, and did not want to reach for another piece after the first. Not worth $3.75 a piece. The cornbread had good flavor but it wasn't moist. It was crumbly and a little on the dryer side. Also, for being served in a skillet, it was only lightly warm. It would have been more enjoyable if it was hot. The butter was pretty good. I was really hoping that this would knock my socks off, but as I was eating it, I was trying to convince myself that it was better than it was because I was worried that the underwhelming first course was foreshadowing what was next to come. I ordered the salmon, and my boyfriend ordered the 1/2 chicken. Our waitress came back to the table and let me know that they were out of broccolini and if I'd like asparagus. Fine by me. The food came out pretty fast. The salmon plate was very boring. Just a piece of salmon on the plate with a pile of asparagus. Nothing aesthetic for $28, and it looked a little small. The asparagus was inedible. No char or color or anything, they were just smoked and the smoke flavor was so incredibly strong. I left it on the plate. The salmon was good. It had a great crispy edge and good flavor. I would have liked a little more sauce. My boyfriend's half chicken was a little on the smaller side, and it was suppose to come with mashed potatoes. It arrived to the table with fries instead of mash. He was looking forward to mashed potatoes as it was an entree and we were trying to eat a nice dinner, but instead got some dry shoestring fries, which were warm, not hot and most of the fries were crispy little pieces like the fries that end up at the bottom of the fry container. The chicken had good flavor but was definitely a bit shriveled up like it was ready a while ago and has been on the warmer. The food wasn't bad, but it also wasn't very good. The portions were small and expensive for the quality of food you're receiving. There was a 3% service charge added to the bill. I paid with cash and they only gave me the dollars and didn't give me the coins. Not a big deal but I had to laugh about how we were constantly getting ripped off. Our server was really kind but overall service seemed pretty laid back and on the slow end just upon watching tables while we were there. Maybe people come here to sit around and the servers are therefore less hurried. The host was also really kind, and the staff that brought us our orders brought our food with smiles. I found everyone to be friendly. I did not find this meal to be worth $100+ and don't think I would be giving Crosby's another try unfortunately. If you want southern comfort food, this might be the closest you'll get to it in the suburbs. This place reminded me of pearls kitchen in the city (which unfortunately closed). We started off with the cornbread and bacon/potato croquettes. The croquettes were delicious for the aoli, to the point we asked for more aoli! The cornbread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which was delicious. My husband got the wrightwood salad which was delicious, kind of reminds you of a southwestern salad. I got the the French dip sandwich which was our favorite part of the dinner. I'd definitely come back just for this. The prime rib was stacked and so good and add the horseradish cream and an jus, it just brought everything together! Sister restaurant to the popular Crosby's Kitchen Southport, Crosby's Kitchen Niles opened in 2024, serving up Midwestern inspired American fare in a comfortable setting. We came here to celebrate our niece's First Communion, and the restaurant did a good job of hosting our group of 7 adults and 3 young children. We had reservations at 1:00 and were promptly seated in a comfortable booth/table combo (requiring the folks on the inside to ask people to move if they needed to get out...though the youngsters just sneaked under the table to try to get away...it's a kid friendly restaurant). The brunch menu is available during the weekend, which limited the items we could order, but everyone found their choice. Our host started us off by ordering a variety of appetizers: Monkey Bread (tasted and looked more like fresh baked cinnamon rolls than what I was used to; it was good), Blueberry Cornbread (nice big pieces of blueberry), bacon & potato croquettes (a very good rendition...a must have if you love croquettes), and black bean chicken chili (really liked this dish...I ended up eating most of it myself: reminded me of a very good fat free chicken chili I used to always eat at work). He also ordered a nice bottle of Bodegas Pinord Dibon (a rose cafa from Spain). As a whole, most folks liked their main entrees. I ordered a Seared Ahi Tuna Salad with mixed greens and a loin of seared rare ahi tuna. The tuna tasted a lot better than it looked, rare on the inside but an unappetizing gray (instead of blackened) on the outside. It was a small amount, so glad that I had filled up on appetizers beforehand. The kids ordered simple kids pancakes ($10). My wife ordered a cheeseburger with fries, which she said was OK. Service was interesting. Our waitress was very attentive, but also very a bit aggressive and overly loud, to speak over the perceived din to be heard (though, it wasn't THAT loud inside).
