I like this place, the vibe, the service and the parking on thr street or by valet is okay. But it's so frickin' loud here! It's deafening and you will need to shout to speak to the person next to you. Meeting friends we haven't seen in a long time it was hard to hold a conversation. On the food, they have a nice menu. Not a lot to go with if you're a vegetarian but they have good staple dishes. Ordered a salad to share which was not overly impressive but fine. The margherita pizza was very good. The dough was perfect with a good bite. Large slices of tomato and good balance of cheese. They have a nice bourbon list. Prices are good but no super hard to find offering but still a solid list.

So we used to go to Zia's Trattoria on Talcott so we were really disappointed with the change in location, menu, and ambience. First of all it feels like you're in some sort of industrial warehouse. Maybe that's chic to some people but it certainly doesn't have a good feel. Then the dining area is wide open and again it just feels wrong. Our servers were fine although I can't even remember what we ate since it was four months ago right at Christmas time. All I know is that we didn't then and still don't want to return given the strange ambience of the place and there was nothing spectacular about the food that overcame our feelings about the weird atmosphere.

I've been to Zia's multiple times for both bridal showers and dinners, and every visit has been a wonderful experience. The bridal showers I've attended were held at the far end of the dining room past the bar, so while I can't speak for the upstairs party room under Zia's (I've only seen it back when it was Iron Horse), the downstairs space is fantastic for group gatherings. They also have a pretty large outside space, but I have yet to dine there, either. As for service, the staff here is always friendly, attentive, and excellent at what they do, making sure every guest feels comfortable and well taken care of. My parents come here more often than me, and they also have had nothing but good service. Some of the waitstaff even know them by name. The food is consistently amazing, as well. I've tried a variety of dishes from both their catering and regular menus, and everything has been a hit. Some favorites include the Chicken Vesuvio; Zia Pena Salad which has a combination of pears and walnuts that is so refreshing ($12/$16); Penne Piedmontese($21); Maile con Pancetta which has a delicious salty flavor; and the 8 Finger Cavatelli, which is one of my personal favorites ($23). Zia's continues to be a go-to spot for special events and they have solid Italian food. I highly recommend!

I recently attended a family function (son's 50th BD) .. we entertained 20 people for dinner .. the ambiance is Good - not Great .. it appears to be a building that was once a garage of some kind .. we were seated in the rear of restaurant that was adjacent to their "outdoor" dining section .. it was hard to talk/listen and the draft from the heated patio was less than desired .. -- HOWEVER -- the food and service was GREAT !! .. we were served family style .. several portions of salads .. pastas .. meat entrees .. I felt we could have used two servers for our group .. but server we had was F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S .. I slipped him a $20 so he would understand how appreciative we were .. overall a nice and enjoyable evening .. I live in Colorado but if I have a chance to seek a dining destination this summer I will certainly seek out Zia's ...

It was our first time here. Parking outside is relegated to street parking. I parked a block away no problem. We arrived at 3, service started at 3:30, the waiter seated us and we ordered drinks promptly. We ordered: Limone Chicken. (3.5 stars) the chicken was a little rubbery and the lemon sauce was borderline too much especially with capers too. I'd still ate some of it and did enjoy the potatoes. Caluzza Chicken (4.5 stars) a mild sauce, chicken and pasta. The veggies were good. Make our own pasta, with fucilli and red sauce (4 stars) Truffle frites (4 stars) the fries were pretty good. Ambiance was good. We sat outdoors under an umbrella. The music is kind of this trendy vibe but nothing from the radio. Vines and flowers.

In Chicago for a work trip and this was recommended. The outside patio is absolutely delightful, staff was super friendly and food was delicious. They were very attentive to our group the whole time. I had the Cheddonara Pizza with the gluten free crust and no honey, it was so tasty! (Carbonara sauce, bacon, white cheddar, scallions, honey)

The outdoor space was beautiful and nicely done, but sometimes when it's windy, it's not easy to eat and the food can get cold quickly. There's a big outdoor section and you have choices of where to sit where there's more light or more wind and more exposure, but they also have umbrellas, which are very helpful. The food was very good, especially the lasagna that was individually done and made from scratch and inside an individual cast iron pan. The portion was amazing and it's wonderful if you're starving. Otherwise you can have a leftovers. The fish special for bass was really good after we asked them to make it simple without the sauce. It came out way too salty the first time. And for $30, We didn't think it was worth it because the fish wasn't very plump or juicy and there wasn't a lot of fish. The sausages and peppers were very good and tasty and fresh. The drink was very good. The wait staff were very attentive. There is Free Parking on the street if you can find it and it wasn't that difficult to find. There is no private parking lot. Overall, it's a beautiful and big restaurant and the food is very good. They have chewy Italian bread on the house that comes with grated Parmesan cheese and some vinegar, flavored vegetable vegetables, and olives.

All it would take would…read morebe the brilliant inspiration of an owner who possessed a love for its rich history and a passion for giving this iconic restaurant the treatment and respect it so very much deserved. It is now time to celebrate, for owner/director Paulo Villabona has created an astonishing, newly-renovated dining experience at Gale Street Inn that pays homage to the exquisite supper clubs of the 40's, 50's and 60's where the likes of Frank Sinatra, Julie London and Sergio Mendez would transfix audiences through their rapturous melodies and golden voices while partaking in superb cuisine. Founded in 1963 in Jefferson Park, Gale Street Inn had seen quite a few owners over the years and had, sadly, closed for a time when it had lost its way and the spirit was gone. Thankfully, Mr. Villabona had a vision to restore the restaurant to its former illustrious self and remodeled it with the desire to have its customers transported to a more wonderful time when life was simpler and love of family, neighbors and friends felt deeper, stronger and truly heartfelt. Beautiful, elegant dark woods, gold fixtures and vintage murals bedeck the interior and set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. An actual small stage has been placed in back of the restaurant for live music that creates the perfect tone. Martini, anyone? When live entertainment isn't playing, expertly balanced sound system background music exemplifies this supper club theme to amazing effect. One can almost feel the Rat Pack presence. There is a beautifully designed bar area that is warm and inviting, and the bartenders are extremely courteous, friendly and consummate ambassadors for the restaurant --- as is the entire waitstaff. It's rare to find this perfect a waitstaff unless, perhaps, one has experienced the Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton Hotels. The crown jewel, however, is the cuisine itself. Chef de Cuisine Greg Manuel has worked his magic and created a menu to rival some of the finest traditional dining establishments out there while energizing classic fare with sumptuous, original and thoroughly enjoyable flavor components. The last time I was at Gale Street Inn was with a good friend of mine, and we shared their warm and wondrous Parker rolls as a starter which were ideal and received gratefully on the freezing evening we arrived. My guest dined on the blackened pork chop which was a marvel to behold. She always comments when restaurants serve chops that arrive dry and flavorless, but this beauty tonight was magnificent. Well-proportioned, tender, juicy and cooked to perfection, it was complimented with expertly prepared apple chutney, charred fennel and sweet potato puree. This one received highest honors from her. I was completely blown away by the mouth-watering, vodka-battered fish (cod) and chips that had such a distinctive resonance of flavor that I simply could not get enough of it. It came with coleslaw and homemade tartar sauce which were, by far, the best I ever ate. Another home run! Since my friend and I both have a brutal sweet tooth which we should be ashamed of but aren't, we finished everything up with their delicious key lime pie and creme brûlée --- both of which were five-star Oscar winners in their own right. Other champions on the menu include their ribs which are known to be the finest in Chicago, standout appetizers, hearty jambalaya, excellent prime steaks, terrific salads and the legendary Gale Street Burger. It is virtually impossible to not fall in love with everything on this menu. I know, it's a bold statement, but Gale Street Inn exceeds expectations on all levels. My deepest thanks to Mr. Villabona, Mr. Manuel and the entire staff for breathing new life into this diamond of a restaurant. The love is definitely there, and it shows!

We order salads, less than a minute after we ordered our entrees, but everything was served together, on a 2-top that wasn't big enough. A manager came by the table and asked how everything was. I expressed my displeasure at the table being exposed to the wait staff and he replied; "You should just be happy you got a table." The worst? The food. Thoroughly disappointing because it was served cold. I'm shocked by the reviews, since this was the single worst dining experience I've ever had.
