Saying "goodbye for now" to my niece. She's leaving us to make herself better. Going college and breaking her Titi's heart... It was such a nice night when we went. We chose to eat outside. The weather was perfect for that. Our server and her team were ON IT. We ordered the Carbonara in a Jar, Penne Piedmontese, the NY Strip and two bowls of Zuppa. Everything was tasty. Even the complimentary bread. So good. City Street Parking. Which requires payment depending on when you go.

Beautiful outdoor patio. The service was good, our waitress didn't come around as much. The scampi pizza was very very good. Wish they would put more shrimp in the slices. One a slice isn't cutting it for me. The flavor of the cheese mixed with that scampi, and nice shrimp bite comes so well together. It's delicious. The crust was nice and crunchy. It was not doughy. The Caesar salad was nice and fresh, had a really good taste. Highly recommend the pizza and salad

Zia's social is awesome. They have a great brunch on the weekends. We split the breakfast pizza, the cheeseburger that was on special (absolutely amazing), the French toast w cannoli filling, and then pistachio mortadella sandwich. They have a great outdoor area and the bottomless mimosa deal is the best in Chicago. Would absolutely recommend Zia's social for your next Saturday brunch.

It wasn't bad. Prices were higher than I expected but the food was good. I had the chicken They charge a 3-% fee on their tickets if you use a card. The food was pretty good, and there was a nice variety of things to taste when I was here with my book club. Their drinks are great, and they have some nice happy hour specials to consider as well. If I recall correctly, parking is street only. I got lucky, but it is Norwood Park, so parking is still generally ok.

Nice comfortable spot to hang out, the patio is beautiful. Food is on point with always changing daily specials as well as complementary bread. Great drink specials during the week, and they have an amazing brunch package on Saturdays and Sundays

I like this place, the vibe, the service and the parking on thr street or by valet is okay. But it's so frickin' loud here! It's deafening and you will need to shout to speak to the person next to you. Meeting friends we haven't seen in a long time it was hard to hold a conversation. On the food, they have a nice menu. Not a lot to go with if you're a vegetarian but they have good staple dishes. Ordered a salad to share which was not overly impressive but fine. The margherita pizza was very good. The dough was perfect with a good bite. Large slices of tomato and good balance of cheese. They have a nice bourbon list. Prices are good but no super hard to find offering but still a solid list.

So we used to go to Zia's Trattoria on Talcott so we were really disappointed with the change in location, menu, and ambience. First of all it feels like you're in some sort of industrial warehouse. Maybe that's chic to some people but it certainly doesn't have a good feel. Then the dining area is wide open and again it just feels wrong. Our servers were fine although I can't even remember what we ate since it was four months ago right at Christmas time. All I know is that we didn't then and still don't want to return given the strange ambience of the place and there was nothing spectacular about the food that overcame our feelings about the weird atmosphere.

The phone was ringing in the background the entire time. Several people in line. 2 people helping customers. One woman and one man. Woman helped everyone while man was on computer the entire time. Specifically asked for a room with 2 beds. Upon entering room noticed there was one bath towel. If there are 2 beds,. Why would you supply only one towel? Also one tiny bottle of shampoo. Had to go to front desk to get more towels. I assumed the next day when they made up the room they would catch that and correct it. I didn't know that the room was only made up once every five days? What hotel does this? I would not have minded had they told me when we checked in. My used towels were thrown on the bathroom floor. Again assuming like any normal hotel this would be taken care of by housekeeping. We were out all day Saturday visiting my son. When we returned there was no where to park. Luckily after driving around for quite awhile someone left and I was able to park way far away in the back. There was a wedding going on. Very noisy children running around and screaming until very early in the morning. No coffee for customers. (You could by a cup for $3.00.) I had two Keurigs that I used Saturday morning. I thought they would be replaced by housekeeping. (They would have if there were any.) I had recently returned from a trip of several days in the same areas. MIchigan, Illinois and Indiana. We stayed at several hotels. This was by far the worst one. I will not stay at a Holiday Inn again. The excuse that Covid is ruining everything cannot stand in this case. The other Hotels I stayed at were more than adequate. Why can't Holiday Inn do at least as well?

Today I visited the Volunteer Resource Center (VRC) near Edgebrook Woods. They held a program for Black History Month; I really want to support this type of cultural programming within the FPCC system, and it's an added bonus that it sounded interesting. The VRC is right near the Edgebrook Golf Course--the same entrance is for both. But unless you've been to an event here or go to the golf course, you're unlikely to known this was here. It's a really great event space which the FPCC rents out for various events. There's a different rate for county residents versus non-residents, and the cost differs for Monday-Thursday and Friday-Sunday dates. However, the rates seem really reasonable to me. There's a main room which is especially lovely; there's a large fireplace, high ceilings, and a lot of space--this room can hold 100 people. The classroom is much smaller and can accommodate up to 40. Both those spaces can be rented independently of one another, and I think you can rent portions of the golf course as well? All the information is on the webpage. The main room has a kitchen space as well so you can work with a caterer for your event. I wish I had an event for which I could use this space; I'll bet it's especially beautiful in the spring and summer. There are picnic tables just outside the indoor facility, and parking is plentiful as well.

We arrived early for our reservation and were taken right in. We ordered two appetizers, the bacon & potato croquettes and the corn bread in the iron skillet. They were both very good. I had the Prime Rib, it was flavorful and brought out exactly how I wanted it--rare. My daughter had the rotisserie chicken and was very pleased with her meal. My wife had the Pike Place Salmon with the smashed cucumbers. She would order it again. The skillet cookie we ordered to share for dessert was very undercooked. It was just a smidgeon over raw dough. While it had the ice cream, it didn't have the caramel the menu advertised. A few more minutes in the oven would have solved the raw dough issue The server was obviously new and had some missteps. He was late to greet the table in a half full restaurant. The drinks had a late arrival-after the appetizers had arrived and never came back to check on the table. It also took an inordinate amount of time to find him to get the check then having him return with the receipt. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, extra points given for having immaculate restrooms. Some suggestions: Perhaps another potato option(s) besides mashed or fries. A loaded baked potato would have been perfect with my Prime Rib. Have another soup(s) offered on the menu besides the soup du jour.

Our server, I think his name was Jose, was very professional, courteous, and friendly. He came back to check on us numerous times and was very quick bringing anything we needed. We had the asparagus salad, the Darte salad, the grilled shrimp appetizer, the grilled vegetables, the grilled calamari, the carpaccio of octopus, and chicken Parmesan. At the start, they brought out bread, olive oil and grated cheese. The bread was a little dry on the outside, but it was warm. The asparagus salad was missing something - maybe salt? It just felt like it lacked flavor even though it had Gorgonzola cheese on it. The grilled vegetables, however, were perfect. It was a combination of one longstem, artichoke heart, one long grilled carrot, a couple of slices of zucchini, and a couple of asparagus. We had asked for them to be well grilled and they were sort of, I can't imagine how few grill marks they would have on them if they hadn't done what he had asked. The Darte salad was a nice size portion with mixed greens, golden and regular raisins, and walnuts. The balsamic vinaigrette is nice and flavorful, and doesn't separate the way it can at some places. The grilled shrimp were very good, nicely seasoned and very well charred. The grilled calamari were great, although they were quite small. There were many more of them than on the pictures. The carpaccio of octopus was very nicely, presented with very thin slices of octopus a nice bright dressing over it and the greens. The chicken Parmesan was a very large portion with the breaded chicken cutlet underneath a large layer of cheese ravioli all topped with marinara sauce, and then cheese, which was browned very well, it was very tasty. For dessert we had two different gelato - the maple bourbon, which would go great with a banana cake and the hazelnut chocolate, which was unbelievably flavorful and smooth. The pistachio and ricotta cake looks very good, but we didn't want to get three desserts. Maybe next time!
