Portage Park Breakfast Place interior decor

Cinco de Mayo special menu! Enjoyed the Mayan Benedict: chorizo, bean cake, avocado, poached eggs, sprinkle of cheese, Mayan salsa, sour cream + side of potatoes. It might be one of the most flavorful breakfasts I've ever eaten. Fast service too! 5 stars for the flavor

Tried this spot for the first time today after seeing it on Instagram. The service was great (attentive with refills, fast service in terms of food timing), food delicious, and portions large. Can't wait to stop in again to try different brunch items.

Chilaquiles and Arrachera Skillet

Tried the new Portage Park Breakfast Place this morning and it was excellent. Even on a busy Saturday we were seated in about 10 minutes. The service stood out--our waiter was incredibly kind and attentive. Food was delicious across the board: the chilaquiles were the best, the arrachera skillet was flavorful and cooked perfectly, and the kids loved the smashed burger. The fries were fresh and not greasy at all. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a great brunch spot with fast, friendly service and really good food.

Two eggs and potatoes

We were in the area running errands and stopped in for a late breakfast at the location on Montrose and Milwaukee. Parking is limited to metered street spots. Upon entering, we were promptly greeted and seated, which was appreciated. The interior has been recently updated with a very minimal, modern design, but the abundance of hard surfaces makes the space quite loud. The menu prices, however, were surprising. Chilaquiles are listed at $18, and adding steak--the only meat option--costs an additional $11, bringing the total close to $30 for a breakfast dish. That feels more like Michigan Avenue pricing. Near my home, I have plenty of options where chilaquiles range from $11 to $18 with steak included. We ultimately ordered two eggs with potatoes. The potatoes were well‑seasoned and enjoyable, but overall, with so many nearby breakfast options at more reasonable prices, this spot didn't feel like a good value.

Came in with a party of 8 on a busy Saturday, and they were able to accommodate us in about 10 min. The food was excellent, served hot, and came out quickly. If you've ever been inside this space before, you'll immediately recognize what a HUGE transformation has taken place. It's unrecognizable from its former self - clean, modern, and cozy. This is by far the best brunch I've had in the neighborhood. I look forward to returning!

We stopped by on a frigid Saturday morning for brunch. We were seated right away and there was nice ambiance in the restaurant. Service was attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious! So much so that I wanted to do justice to the chilaquiles because the other pictures were of half-eaten ones. The salsa was delicious with the right touch of spiciness and the tortillas were nice and crisp! The French toast was delicious, sweet and tart just right! We're already looking forward to our next visit.

Prompt and friendly service. Got the chilaquiles with mixed salsas and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend.

Food is soooo delicious. I'm a chilaquiles hound and their verde chilaquiles were superb. Added grilled chicken and loved the flavor to the guacamole. Staff was super attentive to all customers. So happy this spot opened around the corner from me!

Enjoyed myself very much, definitely would recommend this place to family and friends. They are still on the up coming but don't hesitate to believe me when I say the food was SUPER GOOD. Thank you Breakfast Place.

My wife and I are long-time residents of Jefferson Park and love the Portage Park Breakfast Place. The owners are amazing and the food is so good!!! Highly recommend eating here.

The food is good but pricey. Not real roomy either. Parking is available in the rear.

With a cozy locals vibe, there was a mix of young professionals on laptops and families starting the morning. The bright aesethics of Mexican heritage and decor celebrating local artists make the space inspiring and energizing. The coffee was great. I got the horchata latte, which tasted even better than I hoped. I also ordered a El Chavo Torta, a deceptively simple sandwich that was incredibly delicious. I don't know what they put in the bread or what magical place they bought the cheese from, but my mouth is watering just thinking about it. When I'm in Chicago again, La Malinche is on my list of must visit spots.

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

Set in an old warehouse that is now an art gallery event space and restaurant nestled in an older warehouse district in Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. Beautiful decor and laid out perfectly. The natural wood floors furniture ie tables chairs etc and iron work throughout sets the ambiance for old meets new. It works. The wide spacing between tables makes for a comfortable dining experience. So many folks come in to do their work and dine here. What a super addition to the neighborhood that less than a decade ago was essentially a street that was more a run down semi-truck alley. Great menu with neighborhood favorites leaning toward the old school Italian dishes. Sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfasts just to name a few are all excellent. The pastries are insane and a must take home deal. I love the American Breakfast. Three eggs your way, thick diced America potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sourdough toast. Accompanied by what I believe to be home made jelly and for sure homemade gardiniera. Caruso's gardiniera actually. Diced into a relish unlike most standard gardiniera it's easier to eat with many dishes. Excellent flavor and just the right kick to it. FYI Dolce Arte also sells a to go line of homemade Caruso products from their gardiniera to past and past sauces and more. Yes, their coffee is really good too. Lavazza products I believe. The service is always on point. Casual but on point. Very friendly staff from diverse backgrounds. This is the place you bring people close to you, business lunches, meetings, formal ir informal, or like me, save it for myself as my own getaway spot. It's an artists dream and sets a positive time for any gathering.
