walking up to the place i wasn't expecting it to look like that but you shouldn't judge something before you actually go inside and taste the food. we waited about 5 minutes before being seated. the staff was friendly and it wasn't too busy inside. the inside did seem outdated though not gonna lie. we got helped out after 10 minutes of sitting and got our drinks and then ordered our food right away. we waiting about 20 minutes tog eat our drinks. after we got our drinks 5 minutes later our food came out. i got strawberry french toast which is seemed like from the menu there was going to be more to it but it was just extra strawberries on top. they were good. my decaf iced coffee wasn't that good. also got a regular order or french toast and side of bacon. bacon was good and crisp and french toast was also good. not sure if we'll be back though, good thing to try

Really good food and prices. Atmosphere is relaxing. I got a huge veggie omelette with pancakes and home potatoes. There was a ton of veggies and the homemade potatoes were a hit! Great seasoning. We also got a chocolate milkshake for the little one. He was indifferent to it. I tasted it and didn't care for it as well. Good food tho. Parking in the back. Decent service. They seemed to be a little short staffed but we got our coffee refills. Didn't see take any pictures of the food but it looked ok. Tasted great. We'll be back.

First time visiting, went in for a late breakfast. Parking in back is free and lots of space. Restaurant inside is clean and service was just okay. The host seemed to only speak Spanish which is fine but she was on her phone the whole time and it was on speaker. We heard all her conversations. She was on multiple calls. It's really annoying, distracting and unprofessional. Wear headphones or something to take personal calls. Big pet peeve anywhere. The food was okay. Quite pricey, $20.99 for steak and eggs, steak was seasoned and cooked well, the three eggs were good, the house potatoes were just okay. Potatoes lacked seasoning and salt. Don't think this dish should be $21. The coffee is not good, very weak and not worth $4. Love a good diner coffee but this was not it. My cup tasted like water and creamer with a hint of coffee. We also asked for a strawberry lemonade and it was Minute Maid lemonade blended with strawberries. It wasn't that great nor worth $5.

The food was delicious and prepared very fast! I loved that they had fresh orange juice as well! The staff was super friendly and love that it's family owned!

Great food, great service, great price! This place just recently opened. Compared to other small mom and pop breakfast places like Cozy Corner, this place hands down has it beat. Firts flavor, had some chilaquiles in green sauce. They had the right amount of spice and full flavored crunchy tortillas. Second price, just 12 bucks.. if you want chicken or steak add about 8 bucks. Over all price about 20. Compared to Cozy, your paying over 25 bucks. Other dish we had was a chorizo skillet. Plentiful, right amount of kick and plenty of actual chorizo. It was not just a bunch of potatoes drenched in cheese. Well balanced flavor and I can tell it was a homemade recipe. Cup of never ending coffee will run you about 3 bucks and it was fresh and flavourful. Check this place out before word gets out! They do charge a surcharge if you use a CC, but that was not a deal breaker. I'm not sure if you can have it removed, did not ask. I will definitely recommend this little corner breakfast place. Will not fail you.

My family were big patrons of the old restaurant I. This place and we're so excited to see another breakfast spot take over. Yes they are new and yes they seem like their staff is new but I thought and saw them working together almost training each other. And why I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and going with 5 stars where a more established restaurant I may give a 4. They did some minor renovations and opened the whole place up. I loved the additions to the basic breakfast/lunch menu and while usually I would go with a skillet or omelet couldn't resist the bread pudding French toast and an egg. It was LOVELY! My husband got the same and had me take a picture it looked so good. My over medium eggs perfectly cooked and all was garnished to make it look fancy. We needed a new breakfast spot in the neighborhood and I am excited to see where this one goes and how it evolves.

This place opened a week ago today and we were so pleasantly surprised! The food was fantastic, start to finish, and the service was friendly and welcoming. My husband had the Eggcellent skillet (potatoes, mushrooms, ham, bacon, green peppers) which looked standard but the flavors were amazing. My chilaquiles were the best I've ever had tbh- the chips had the perfect texture and the ranchero sauce was mild but delicious. The tea was piping hot and the atmosphere was bright and cheerful. And there's free parking in the back! This is our new favorite local breakfast spot!

I will begin here, I have gone to school and currently work in the area. I have gone past this location on several occasions. The original owner of the first restaurant officially retired and closed it's doors. Some time later a sign was placed on the outside of the restaurant, eggcellent breakfast was coming soon. Thursday was the grand opening. Today I decided to give this place a spin. Upon walking we were greeted. One of the staff, asked how many would be seated, I said 2. But the downside, a name wasn't written down. It seems no names are asked for. Once a table opens the next group is seated. Then another. We were seated a group of three were seated behind us. Their drink order was taken before ours. I am not sure if the wait staff needs some organization because the wait time is a little frustrating. The staff is friendly but some work needs to be sorted out. Especially during the weekends. The food has a great presentation, the pancakes are nice and fluffy. There was also some confusion in front of the house with the register. Decent location. A little small but space to sit and move around. I am glad we stopped. But some of the rough edges have to be smoothed out. Which I hope they do. Eggcellent breakfast welcome to Dunning..

First and definitely not the last time here. Breakfast here is truly eggcellent! I went with my gut and ordered Mexican; I had the chilaquiles rancheros with steak and the sauce really complimented the succulent well seasoned meat. I also had one of the fluffy cake-like pancakes. The lay out of the place with the hanging lights reminds me of a good ole fashion-family diner and it was pretty good service.

    the receipt for the breakfast

Way too overpriced for subpar food. My sister and I went there once and we will not be back again

    Chorizo omelette

I got the chorizo omelette with house potatoes and toast on the side. The potatoes were okay, I felt like they had too much condiments, the toast it was too soft. Oh and I got the ice latte vanilla, not good but overall the food was decent

With a cozy locals vibe, there was a mix of young professionals on laptops and families starting the morning. The bright aesethics of Mexican heritage and decor celebrating local artists make the space inspiring and energizing. The coffee was great. I got the horchata latte, which tasted even better than I hoped. I also ordered a El Chavo Torta, a deceptively simple sandwich that was incredibly delicious. I don't know what they put in the bread or what magical place they bought the cheese from, but my mouth is watering just thinking about it. When I'm in Chicago again, La Malinche is on my list of must visit spots.

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

Set in an old warehouse that is now an art gallery event space and restaurant nestled in an older warehouse district in Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. Beautiful decor and laid out perfectly. The natural wood floors furniture ie tables chairs etc and iron work throughout sets the ambiance for old meets new. It works. The wide spacing between tables makes for a comfortable dining experience. So many folks come in to do their work and dine here. What a super addition to the neighborhood that less than a decade ago was essentially a street that was more a run down semi-truck alley. Great menu with neighborhood favorites leaning toward the old school Italian dishes. Sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfasts just to name a few are all excellent. The pastries are insane and a must take home deal. I love the American Breakfast. Three eggs your way, thick diced America potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sourdough toast. Accompanied by what I believe to be home made jelly and for sure homemade gardiniera. Caruso's gardiniera actually. Diced into a relish unlike most standard gardiniera it's easier to eat with many dishes. Excellent flavor and just the right kick to it. FYI Dolce Arte also sells a to go line of homemade Caruso products from their gardiniera to past and past sauces and more. Yes, their coffee is really good too. Lavazza products I believe. The service is always on point. Casual but on point. Very friendly staff from diverse backgrounds. This is the place you bring people close to you, business lunches, meetings, formal ir informal, or like me, save it for myself as my own getaway spot. Why would you not order a flight to try a variety of drinks all at once? We had the hibiscus lemonade and matcha flight, the mango con crema and banana con crema were the standouts. The staff--at least the person who helped me--didn't feel super welcoming. Not that they were rude, just not particularly warm either. I get it though, because even I get a little irritable when it's hot, so maybe that played a part. What I love the most is that it's Latina-owned, and that's something I truly admire. I always try to support Latino entrepreneurs when they're doing things right, and this place is definitely doing something creative. We ordered two flights--one with coffee and one with matcha. Each flight comes with four small samples, and they were all seasonal fall flavors, which I thought was such a fun and unique idea. It's cool because you get to try different drinks in little cups, almost like a tasting experience. The coffee flight (we got it iced) was amazing--the flavors were bold and had that strong coffee taste I personally love. The matcha flight was also fun, but I would have preferred a stronger matcha flavor in some of them. They also have plenty of milk options--we ordered ours with oat milk and it was delicious. On top of that, they have a pretty wide food menu with bagels, sandwiches, wraps, and more. We tried the tuna sandwich and it was really good, definitely worth recommending. The café has little chairs outside, the vibe inside is cozy, and I loved that they were playing Spanish music. That's something you don't usually find in most coffee shops here, and it gave the place extra personality. The only thing I'm still unsure about is the price. For two flights (coffee + matcha) and the sandwich, the total was around $55. Maybe that's a bit expensive--or maybe it's just the nature of ordering flights, since I had never tried that before. Either way, it was worth it for the experience and the flavors. In short, it's a cute, cozy, and creative spot that's definitely worth checking out--especially if you're into seasonal flavors, want to try something unique, and love supporting Latina-owned businesses in Chicago.
