Cute little spot! Authentic Lao and Thai food. Flavorful and great portions! I like the street menu items and full menu options. Workers and service was really nice. We went exactly at 5 and like the reviews said there were plenty of people already coming in to pick up togo orders!

Me and my mom ordered take out on a Saturday night--it was suuuuper packed!! Very small, intimate and cozy here for sure. Staff were all super nice though and made sure to let us know the real wait for food--their kitchen was absolutely slammed so it was over an hour. Looked promising though so we did end up getting take out. We kept it simple though with tofu skewers and egg rolls and they both were so tasty!! I got the tropical punch as well and it was soooo good!! Definitely want to come back to dine in

Shrimp spring rolls were huge with fresh greens and 3 shrimp each.

Being Lao, I was hesitant to try this place. I went in expecting the Lao food would be more traditional central Thai food. And thank goodness that was not the case. The Lai food was actually Lao food. Although sweeter than how I usually make my own, we ordered the papaya salad level 3 spicy which was not too spicy but had some heat. The last sausage was good and flavored well with just enough balance of lemongrass. The restaurant is bright and clean. It is small and has limited seating. The staff is very helpful, attentive and friendly. I recommend giving it a try and introducing yourself to Lao food.

Actually wish I could give more stars. Service is excellent for not being full service. Food is amazing and flavorful and fresh. I'll be dreaming about the soup. Surely will be back. And soon. Thank you Sweet Basil.

Ok this is SO worth the hype and the drive (20 min for me). I got pad kee mao and mango sticky rice - my only regret is not dining in!! The pad kee mao with shrimp is SO good. I'm fairly picky with my Asian food too as someone who grew up on the coasts. The noodles were nice and flat and the sauce was delicious. I got 3 and it's supposed to be spicy, but I have a decent heat tolerance so I'd say it's more like a mild. The mango sticky rice is to die for and a must get. I thought I'd be able to split the noodles into two meals, but it was so good I kept eating them!!! I can't speak to the service but the staff were super friendly when I came in to pick up my order. It's rather small inside so I'm sure it helps to go off peak. But it's super cute. Like others have said, definitely follow them on social media to know when they're open and if they are still taking in orders. Please please support this lovely family owned restaurant!! They work so hard (as seen on social media) and really deserve all the praise!!

Food is always great and consistent here. We went on a Saturday evening and they were packed. They sold out at 7 pm which was a little earlier than their closing time of 8pm so if you plan to go make sure you arrive early! There are only a few tables so they do a lot of take out orders. The service is always quick and they are very nice.

Service is fast and very friendly. I looked online before visiting and it warns that orders may take awhile as they are made fresh. However, our food came out within 20 minutes. We were pleasantly surprised. The crab rangoons were some of the best I've had in the city. The three noodle dishes were all very good. We came to the conclusion that the Jeow Bong noodles were the best. The place is on the smaller side but still has a decent amount of seating. Cute atmosphere and decor. Also, all of their takeout boxes, cutlery, and cups are biodegradable and can be microwaved lol.

Tried Sweet Basil as a friend recommended it to me, it did not disappoint! We called to order takeout - a friendly heads up, during busy hours it can take an hour + to have food ready, so need to be patient. The sesame chicken was my absolute favorite. The flavor was delicious and it was a big portion (had it over two meals). We also tried the Jeow Bong fried rice, lemongrass chicken, Rama Delight, and mango sticky rice. I was a big big fan of the flavor of the fried rice and lemongrass chicken; the Rama Delight was okay- a healthy option but was almost too plain for me personally. The mango sticky rice is a delightful end to my meal- definitely worth a try! The mango was so fresh and the sauce/rice combo went together perfectly. The dining area itself is smaller but very quaint, staff were all efficient and kind when I picked up my order! Would definitely recommend trying it out if you are in the mood for Thai/Lao food!

I am so happy we decided to venture out of Milwaukee to try this place as we have been looking for good Thai since being a transplant. This is my type of restaurant as it's not all about the ambiance and frills but more so about amazing food and a family atmosphere. You walk in and up to the counter to order and they will be super helpful guiding you if it's your first time. Now the food was great and the spice levels I feel like are appropriate and aren't just hot but add flavor. I am so excited because both the crab Rangoon and Pad See ew I had were great and the Panang curry my fiancé had was great even reheated. Amazing restaurant with great service and they are super helpful.

Sweet basil was amazing. It was packed, which was a good sign off the back. The staff was extremely kind. The ambience was pretty chill, but the food was smacking. I got the Tom kha extra spicy with shrimp. it was perfect on a cold rainy day. Definitely hit the spot. 10/10 Then I got the pad kee mao. Big noodles delicious spicy beef. 9/10 And I took some Panang curry to go. 9/10

I've dined here or carried out several times since they opened. The food has been consistently delicious with efficient service! You can order online for carry-out, or if dining in, review the menu board, grab a portable menu, or scan the QR code on the menu board to pull it up on your phone. Then place your order and pay at the counter and find a place to sit. They will give you a number for your table and bring the food to you. It is a family owned and operated business, so you know a lot of love goes into every dish. I've enjoyed various dishes including the OG Platter, which includes Lao Grilled Steak, Lao Sausage, OG wings, papaya salad, and sticky rice. It's perfect for two hungry people or as a starter for a group! The Khao-Poon special from a year ago is a dish I still think about and hope to see again soon! The Chicken Satay with housemade peanut sauce is another hit!Tonight's visit with a friend included the OG Platter, Pad Kee Mao, aka Drunken Noodle, with chicken, with Lotus Flower Cookies (this month's special), and Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. Yes, we had a lot of leftovers, and we weren't mad about it. They are open Tuesday through Saturday, 3:00-8:00, and because they are a small, family operation, they may need to close for a day if key staff is ill or injured, so I highly recommend you follow them on social media or call them when in doubt. This is one of the very best SE Asian restaurants in SE Wisconsin, so if you haven't been yet, make a point to visit!

Best Thai and Lao food I have ever eaten!! The egg rolls flawless. The chicken skewers were pretty good but the sauces made them 10x better. The service was great. They bring out the food to you but allow you to get your own utensils and sauces.

I once again question why I do not make the 45 minute drive to Sweet Basil more often. Today's visit exceeded my expectations. I was pleasantly greeted by Drew at the register. He took my order, gave suggestions, and made sure my meal was handled appropriately and gluten free. Food was excellent as always. I love their spring rolls. They're so fresh. The noodle dish Pasta Kee Mao was new for me and I'm glad I tried it. It's like a beef with peppers pasta dish in brown sauce. I love their pad Thai but wanted to try something different and this did not disappoint. Can't wait to go back!

The reason I speak to the number of adults is because they were a bit inappropriate: they were very loud and I felt so bad because I have no doubt the group I was with disrupted the experience of other diners. I'm not a prude but even I was slightly embarrassed at times (I didn't know the group well and didn't anticipate the noise/volume). ANYWAY, I bring all that up because our server tolerated us and I was very grateful for him. Aside from being kind, he was very knowledgeable about trying/pairing items and making suggestions for us. The drinks were beautiful and the food was bright--fresh and flavorful. Bathrooms were spotless. I am looking forward to coming back on my own ;)

The minute we walked in, a man sitting next to the hostess--who appeared to be part of the restaurant, not a customer--just stared at us. No greeting, no smile... just staring. The hostess also seemed a bit confused when we walked in. She asked if we had reservations; we said no. Then she asked if a high-top table was fine, as if the restaurant were packed. We agreed, assuming there would be a long wait for a regular table. But as she led us over, there were plenty of regular tables available. So right off the bat, the vibe wasn't particularly welcoming. As for the service, the waitress did a great job with the welcome and checked on us at a perfect pace. We also liked the decor--plenty of cute design elements that would make for great photos and draw people in. The menu was well done too: not overwhelming, just the right amount of variety in each category. Honestly, this part is why I gave the place more stars than I probably should have. As for the food, it was just okay for us--though that may have been due to what we ordered. There were only two of us, and we got three dishes: shrimp fried rice, beef chow fun, and kung pao chicken. We thought that would give us a good variety. The food had good flavor, but all three dishes tasted very similar. If you try these same dishes elsewhere, the flavors are usually more distinct. I do wish we had tried more of the appetizers and drinks--maybe that would have changed our rating a bit.
