Cute little spot! Authentic Lao and Thai food. Flavorful and great portions! I like the street menu items and full menu options. Workers and service was really nice. We went exactly at 5 and like the reviews said there were plenty of people already coming in to pick up togo orders!

Shrimp spring rolls were huge with fresh greens and 3 shrimp each.

Being Lao, I was hesitant to try this place. I went in expecting the Lao food would be more traditional central Thai food. And thank goodness that was not the case. The Lai food was actually Lao food. Although sweeter than how I usually make my own, we ordered the papaya salad level 3 spicy which was not too spicy but had some heat. The last sausage was good and flavored well with just enough balance of lemongrass. The restaurant is bright and clean. It is small and has limited seating. The staff is very helpful, attentive and friendly. I recommend giving it a try and introducing yourself to Lao food.

Me and my mom ordered take out on a Saturday night--it was suuuuper packed!! Very small, intimate and cozy here for sure. Staff were all super nice though and made sure to let us know the real wait for food--their kitchen was absolutely slammed so it was over an hour. Looked promising though so we did end up getting take out. We kept it simple though with tofu skewers and egg rolls and they both were so tasty!! I got the tropical punch as well and it was soooo good!! Definitely want to come back to dine in

Ok this is SO worth the hype and the drive (20 min for me). I got pad kee mao and mango sticky rice - my only regret is not dining in!! The pad kee mao with shrimp is SO good. I'm fairly picky with my Asian food too as someone who grew up on the coasts. The noodles were nice and flat and the sauce was delicious. I got 3 and it's supposed to be spicy, but I have a decent heat tolerance so I'd say it's more like a mild. The mango sticky rice is to die for and a must get. I thought I'd be able to split the noodles into two meals, but it was so good I kept eating them!!! I can't speak to the service but the staff were super friendly when I came in to pick up my order. It's rather small inside so I'm sure it helps to go off peak. But it's super cute. Like others have said, definitely follow them on social media to know when they're open and if they are still taking in orders. Please please support this lovely family owned restaurant!! They work so hard (as seen on social media) and really deserve all the praise!!

Actually wish I could give more stars. Service is excellent for not being full service. Food is amazing and flavorful and fresh. I'll be dreaming about the soup. Surely will be back. And soon. Thank you Sweet Basil.

Food is always great and consistent here. We went on a Saturday evening and they were packed. They sold out at 7 pm which was a little earlier than their closing time of 8pm so if you plan to go make sure you arrive early! There are only a few tables so they do a lot of take out orders. The service is always quick and they are very nice.

Service is fast and very friendly. I looked online before visiting and it warns that orders may take awhile as they are made fresh. However, our food came out within 20 minutes. We were pleasantly surprised. The crab rangoons were some of the best I've had in the city. The three noodle dishes were all very good. We came to the conclusion that the Jeow Bong noodles were the best. The place is on the smaller side but still has a decent amount of seating. Cute atmosphere and decor. Also, all of their takeout boxes, cutlery, and cups are biodegradable and can be microwaved lol.

Tried Sweet Basil as a friend recommended it to me, it did not disappoint! We called to order takeout - a friendly heads up, during busy hours it can take an hour + to have food ready, so need to be patient. The sesame chicken was my absolute favorite. The flavor was delicious and it was a big portion (had it over two meals). We also tried the Jeow Bong fried rice, lemongrass chicken, Rama Delight, and mango sticky rice. I was a big big fan of the flavor of the fried rice and lemongrass chicken; the Rama Delight was okay- a healthy option but was almost too plain for me personally. The mango sticky rice is a delightful end to my meal- definitely worth a try! The mango was so fresh and the sauce/rice combo went together perfectly. The dining area itself is smaller but very quaint, staff were all efficient and kind when I picked up my order! Would definitely recommend trying it out if you are in the mood for Thai/Lao food!

I am so happy we decided to venture out of Milwaukee to try this place as we have been looking for good Thai since being a transplant. This is my type of restaurant as it's not all about the ambiance and frills but more so about amazing food and a family atmosphere. You walk in and up to the counter to order and they will be super helpful guiding you if it's your first time. Now the food was great and the spice levels I feel like are appropriate and aren't just hot but add flavor. I am so excited because both the crab Rangoon and Pad See ew I had were great and the Panang curry my fiancé had was great even reheated. Amazing restaurant with great service and they are super helpful.

Sweet basil was amazing. It was packed, which was a good sign off the back. The staff was extremely kind. The ambience was pretty chill, but the food was smacking. I got the Tom kha extra spicy with shrimp. it was perfect on a cold rainy day. Definitely hit the spot. 10/10 Then I got the pad kee mao. Big noodles delicious spicy beef. 9/10 And I took some Panang curry to go. 9/10

I had ordered a cup of Tom Kah and was delivered and charged for a bowl of soup, which was a big price difference. That was a tad annoying just because we had nearly four different people approach our table to check on us to start. The timing of our dishes was off as well. I received my Pud See Yew and it was nearly 10 minutes until the Pud Thai came out and when it did the food had a horrendous burnt taste. We did send it back and they gladly corrected it, but at the same time something seemed off with communication. Our servers were nice, but they filled our waters like 30 times - every time we took a drink it seemed. Although very attentive, felt a bit overdoing it and didn't allow us to chat consistently without interruption of asking how is everything when we didn't really have food yet. I would come back because the food was so good.

My cousin tried the Berry-cation from the summer menu and it was perfect for her - very fresh and a little sweeter. Cousin-in-law got the Thai Goddess, with tomato, and it was very interesting - not quite fruity and not overly vegetal - very cool. Our food was amazing. The restaurant is in a tucked away strip mall and is modest in size and decor. The strip mall also contains hidden treasures like a Chinese bakery/BBQ and an Asian store. We went early on a Saturday evening with friends. The service was excellent, although with some staff there were language hurdles. No matter - everyone made it work and we were left with an abundance of amazing food at a reasonable price. Wine and beers are served, as well as smoothies and other non-alcoholic drinks. BF ordered crab rangoon as a starter, which was good. He liked it more than I did, but it was nice and crispy. I just didn't think it compared to other dishes. My vegetable egg roll was very good as well, but nothing terribly unique. He went bold on the entree and ordered the pork intestine and blood cake dish. He really enjoyed it and said it was quite spicy. The portions are generous and he did bring a lot home. I ordered the homestyle tofu, which normally has pork. I got it without to make it vegetarian friendly. The textures were very good and the sauce was intensely flavorful, but mild. I also ordered a supplementary dish of braised mushrooms and Shanghai greens. Everyone at the table enjoyed this dish, particularly the greens, which are a variety of bok choy, called pac choy. The mushrooms were wonderful, with the texture of wood ears. I also had plenty of leftovers to eat the next day. Our friends ordered the Szechuan spicy pork dumplings and they got rave reviews. My cousin did say they were not overly spicy. She went on to order the sizzling black pepper beef, which she said was good, but not nearly as unique or deeply flavored as the other dishes. Her husband ordered the pork intestine with clear noodles, which he enjoyed but said was extremely spicy. He did leave a lot of sauce behind since it was so hot. He also had the ox tendon and maw in spicy sauce, which came with chopped peanuts on top. He seemed really pleased with that dish. We agreed that we would happily go back to explore the menu more. Everything was excellent and I thought the prices were generally quite reasonable, especially for the quantity of food. I do wish the menu had more descriptive text, so I could familiarize myself with the dishes. The choices are many and overwhelming and the menu is huge. I'd also love to see a symbol for vegetarian options since it's very hard to know otherwise and many of the vegetable dishes included pork or other meat. As we left the restaurant was getting increasingly busy with people waiting by the door for seats. This is a popular place for good reason.

The Spicy Pork Dumplings have become my go-to appetizer, and the fried spring rolls are also very good. On a most recent visit, we ordered hot pot. Our server brought us the sheet to make our selections. You can choose from mild broth, spicy broth, or half tray of each. The spicy is pretty hot with lots of red chili peppers soaking in it, so I scooped out the chili peppers to keep rhe flavor but lessen the impact on my palate. For 2 guests, I recommend choosing 3 items from the list, maybe 2 protein and one veggie or 2 veggie and one protein to start. You can order more if you finish and need more. This is in addition to the two appetizers you will choose, which is included with rhe hot pot dinner. It's a great value! Sze Chuan remains on my short list of go-to's for Chinese dining, and I look forward to my next visit, whenever that may be.
