I don't mind sitting at the sushi bar since you can't make a reservation for one dinner and I was able to sit right away this time and last time, but it would be worth the wait. I took my time and enjoyed my meal. I will definitely be back every time I visit the city. The papaya salad is amazing, as well. The perfect blend of flavors. Decor is nice in the small space. It's rich, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely perfect for a chilly Wisconsin evening! As a vegetarian, this is one of my favorite dishes. A word of caution, though: the spice has a way of sneaking up on you, so order accordingly! The meat eaters at our table enjoyed the chicken satay, which was another fantastic start to the meal. For entrées, we ordered drunken noodles with tofu (no meat), volcano chicken, pad see ew with chicken, and num tok. Every single dish was delicious! We went with a spice level of 3 out of 10, which turned out to be just right for us -- flavorful, with a nice kick without being overwhelming. So why only 4 stars when the food is this good? Unfortunately, the service. It's incredibly slow. We understand that this is a popular restaurant and that things get busy, but waiting nearly an hour for food is tough, especially when you have kids at the table. It's definitely something the restaurant could improve upon. That said, the food is good enough to keep us coming back! BUT as we were finishing up, about 5 couples came in WITHOUT a reservation and both the host and the bartender gave each couple the option to either sit at the bar or at a table. When I confronted the bartender about it, she claimed "they weren't supposed to do that." WHAT?! She literally just offered a couple a table without a reservation. What do you mean?! It was insulting. Anyway, we will absolutely NEVER come back here. The tip we left was solely for the kitchen staff who were hard at work and doing an honest job.
