    Happy Chicken ($22)
    Roxie B.

Visited on a Monday night at 6pm and the room was packed. The sichuan pork dumplings ($15) and short rib potstickers ($16) were flavorful, but small in serving. The dough of the potstickers were dry and chewy like they hadn't been cooked enough, but were accompanied by an incredibly tasty sauce. The CUMIN BEEF SLAP NOODLES ($23) were 10/10 - changed my life. The beef was tender, not chewy, and rich in flavor which complimented the soft biang biang noodle. Happy chicken ($22) was spicy, as expected, with a sweet sauce, but not the most captivating dish on the menu. The mango crème brûlée ($13) flavor was too intense for me. It tasted like fake mango flavoring. Would recommend the island magic cocktail ($15) and lucky Buddha beer ($7). They were out of Sapporo which was disappointing for an Asian based restaurant. Our server, Nicholas, was fantastic - attentive and friendly! The ambiance is pleasant and cozy.

Most of the restaurants we dine at are usually the result of someone else's recommendation, so we typically have high expectations. I don't often give a 2-star rating to these restaurants, so I was sad that our experience here was so disappointing. We had 5:15 reservations on a Wednesday evening. There were not too many people there when we arrived, and we got seated right away. The last time we were at this location, it was the "Tulip" restaurant, which served excellent Mediterranean cuisine. Food: To start, we ordered a couple of specialty cocktails: the Island Magic #815 for me and Murphy's Law for her. Both of these were delicious. For food, we decided on the Dill Dumplings, Pad Thai, and Rice Cakes & Pork Belly. They serve everything tapas-style, so each dish should be at optimum temperature when it comes out. The Dill Dumplings arrived first. They were flavorful, with an excellent mix of flavors. I'm not sure if this is intended, but they are heavily seared on only one side. They need to be eaten whole; otherwise, the halves deconstruct and you end up having to chase the escaped meat around the plate. Is this a serious issue? Only if you want to keep all the flavors together for the most satisfying bite. The Rice Cakes & Pork Belly came next. On the first bite, you are overwhelmed by how salty this dish is. The flavors are excellent with the exception of the salt. The textures are good too, other than how rubbery the rice cakes were. The server noted this when we ordered, but instead of "rubbery," she said "chewy." I like chewy. This was definitely rubbery. This dish was painful to eat because it could have been just so much better. The last dish to arrive was the Pad Thai. It was good, but not remarkable. After our meal, we wanted to end on a high note with dessert. We love crème brûlée, and they had a mango version. Great combination! When it arrived, it was a BIG bowl with a nicely caramelized top. It had a satisfying snap when you pushed your spoon through it. But underneath, there was no firm custard. It was literally a bowl of mango soup. This is not an exaggeration. It was so loose that you couldn't keep it on the small spoons. So disappointing. Service: Everyone we interacted with during the meal was kind and pleasant. We enjoyed the service at our table. The server and the food runners did a nice job with our orders, drinks, and food. They were eager to answer our questions and make suggestions. When we mentioned the issues we had with our food, I wasn't sure they were enthusiastic about relaying our concerns to the kitchen. Both the Rice Cakes & Pork Belly and the crème brûlée were a bit of an embarrassment. Without us asking, they did offer to take the dessert off the bill. We are not in the business of negotiating the price of a bad meal, so the entire situation was uncomfortable. Atmosphere: The interior of the place is really well done. It definitely gives you the vibe of Asian food, but with a twist. I have not been to Asia, but I could imagine this restaurant fitting in. There are plenty of interesting things to look at, with hanging pictures, ceramics, and quirky tchotchkes. We were surprised by how bad our experience was. With the owners (Dan & Dan) being mentioned in many local food articles, I expected much better. With that in mind, we are not planning to go back.

When you first walk into DanDan, you're welcomed with an abundance of plants where the host brings you to your table. We made reservations, so we were sitted pretty quick. Upon being sitted we were greeted and helped by our server, Peyton, who was beyond helpful. Gave us suggestions of the best sellers, as well as, his personal favorites. He was friendly and quick to clear our table or help us with anything we needed. My friend and I started dinner with the Sichuan Pork Dumplings and two mocktails; Company Refresher and Puttin' on the Spritz. The Sichuan Pork Dumplings were so good. Can't go wrong with Dumplings and chili oil. The sauce was so good, we ended up saving it to pair with our rice dish. The two mocktails were amazing as well. Of the two, the Company Refresher was my favorite as it, tasted like strawberry soda. For the main course, we got the Happy Chicken, Glass Noodle Stir Fry, and the Beef Chow Fun. All of the dishes were amazing! The Happy Chicken was not too spicy and was nice and crispy, it also came with a side of rice. My favorite was the Glass Noodle Stir Fry. The noodles were chunky and chewy. I loved the mixed of vegetables within the dish. The Beef Chow Fun was also an amazing dish. I felt like we had more beef than noodles mixed in it. Overall, everydish did not disappoint! Definitely will come back to try the other dishes and maybe some of their drinks!

We have been wanting to try DanDan after seeing Dan on Top Chef Wisconsin this past summer. The service was excellent, and the waitress was a stitch. Kept us smiling and well attended. We started out with potstickers and crab rangoons, the flavors and the sauce were wonderful, we both had a cocktail that were unique and good For dinner, we split a happy chicken, caramelized, spices with signature peppers were delicious. I have to admit I love spice for flavor and the balance of spices were wonderful ....Very flavorful and Not too hot. We opted for a shared dessert of mango crème brûlée ... Yum. Would I go back? Yes, was it overly crowded? No, we were seated quickly. Definitely five out of five.

DanDan exceed all my exceptions. We loved that the second we walked in we were thrown into an experience. The design immulates Chinese culture with American flare. The crab Rangoon was our favorite dish- loaded with fresh crab! We also really enjoyed the orange chicken. Ordered the egg rolls last minute and they didn't disappoint. We were seated right away and enjoyed our waiter: he was friendly and gave us great suggestions. Can't wait to go back or order take out!

The food was ok. The best things was the crab rangoon. The place is very colorful and vibrant. I had a reservation and we were seated right away. Our waitress was the one who made the experience undesirable. She was so rude and seemed annoyed the whole time. She was very slow throughout the whole experience. She complained that people were out eating in the cold weather and then complained we were using a gift card. Terrible service by a waitress. It was not welcoming at all and was just uncomfortable. I would not go back here.

Three of us had dinner at Dandan. It was a busy Friday night. We loved the dandan noodles, cucumber salad, beef slap noodles. We were bummed the bao buns were no longer on the menu as this was our favorite in the past. Two that had the desert daisy drinks did not like. Service was average.

First time to DanDan in a solid 2-3 years and was happy to be back! My husband and I went for a date night on a Tuesday. We booked reservations ahead just in case, which was probably the good choice because it was almost full. After being sat a two-top our server swiftly brought over waters and reminded us how the menu/food service works: it's recommended to share items as every dish comes out as soon it's ready, which makes food arrival very staggered. Honestly I kind of love this concept! We chose three menu items and that was plenty! The smashed cucumbers were sooo dang good and refreshing. Literally going to try to remake these at home. Big fan of the dill and chilis incorporated. Loved the general tao cauliflower bites too. Tons of flavor and plenty of rice to pair. The last dish to arrive was the Singapore noodles, which were also five-stars. They had a bit of a kick which was perfect. The entire meal was a win and the Japanese beers paired great. One thing I think worth mentioning is the "wellness surcharge" that showed up on the bill. Upon looking into it, I guess it's charge used to pay staff benefits like health insurance? And hey I'm not against that at all (I worked in the service industry for yearsss and totally get it/would have appreciated that). However it seemed a little odd they don't make you aware ahead of time. Just thought I'd share the info as I can see some folks not loving this or not loving being told about it. All in all, my husband had a wonderful dinner and experience. Definitely rec others come here!

Important to know that I didn't eat dishes from DanDan's main menu but rather the set coursed meal as part of their "Dim Sum Guest Chef Series" with Chef Eva Chin. It was a bit disappointing given my high expectations from Dan's run on Top Chef. All-in we paid $90pp and as a couple we had to share a "properly portioned" plate of food for 2 ppl for each of the 4 courses with 7 sampled dishes. The Pipa Tofu dish made with sweet shrimp and watercress was the most unique item that I tried. Other than that, the food was relatively bland or not fresh enough for my liking. The staff were pretty impersonable too. The crowd was more American than Asian and the menu was clearly watered down to fit local appetites. I don't know that I'd come back to try their main menu..ask me in a few months.

My fiancé says: DanDan? I'm a FanFan! We went just after opening time on a Sunday. It was already starting to fill up and by time we left it was almost fully packed. I think that must say something great about this place! I enjoyed the ambience, with dim lighting, interesting decor, and nice touches like the water glasses, menus, etc. Despite being super busy, the staff were still very attentive and the food was timely. We enjoyed the family-style aspect of the dishes and the meals were large portions. We started off with the egg rolls and potstickers. The egg rolls were fantastic! Well cooked and paired with sweet and sour sauce. The potstickers were also good, just not our favorite based on the chewy nature of the dumpling and short rib filling. The dinners were all great! The right amount of spice and flavor and each ingredient shined. Both chicken dishes had the right balance of sauce to breading to chicken ratio. Overall, would definitely recommend for a visit!

I've been exited to try Dan Dan for a while! It's a very cute place on the corner. Everyone was very friendly. We were seated without a reservation at the bar, and the bartender was great (even made sure I got free birthday cookies). We loved the appetizers. The crab rangoons were so so good, great texture! I wasn't over the moon about the entrees. I had the dan dan noodles and it felt like there were way too many competing flavors. My husband was also not in love with his dish. I think for the price and how highly people speak of Dan Dan, we were hoping for better plates. That aside, we did enjoy our time, portion sizes were good and ambience was great!

Solid... I will preface this review by saying that it may be slightly skewed by a lot of hype before trying. We were immediately greeted on a busy day without a reservation and decided to sit at the bar. We enjoyed the service at the bar as the bartender did a great job walking us through the menu and concepts. I will say the aesthetic is also nice warming for a great date night. Where the appetizers and wings weee great. However, our main courses to me just had a little too much going on with to many flavor profiles trying to be mixed together. I commend them for the creativity but just felt like the mixes made things a little overwhelming. We did enjoy the desert served in honor of my wife's birthday though. Overall, solid would probably stick to appetizer style dishes though.

I thought today that I would visit my old friend and even though I have been around the world with the menu that dam general Taos chicken dinner combination is my favorite. The general Taos chicken combination comes with chicken fried rice and an egg roll. The chicken is always big moist chunks of tender velveted chicken which I can't tell if it's white or dark meat because of the velveting process but I like it. The egg roll isn't the tiny ones that became the norm over the years and it's super average like 95 % of Asian restaurants now, not like years past when the egg roll was a signature staple in Asian restaurants and they made really good ones. The combination chicken fried rice is that kind you find on most combination menus, not the main dish dark fried rice full of meat and veggies but just enough to accompany the main dish. Overall it's tasty enough and better than the average neighborhood Chinese restaurant and for a dinner combination that was 2 1/2 pounds of food for $13.50, price vs quality vs taste it's a winner.

I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken "combo" with 2 Bao, and an order of 5 potstickers. Grub Hub did a nice job with a timely delivery over my lunch hour, and the food arrived at a satisfactory temperature. I liked the texture of the Bao (one beef and one pork), and I thought the filling was as much or slightly more than I've had in other Bao. Flavor of the filling was ok, and the texture of the Bao was better than I expected. Potstickers were filled with ginger chicken. Again, flavor was ok, and texture was acceptable for delivery. The Kung Pao chicken wasn't spicy, and the flavor was again, OK, but some of the rice was hard and yellow, so I ate around the "steamed white rice."
