I've been a very loyal - and very frequent! - customer of Emperor's Kitchen for decades, and there is no better Chinese restaurant to be found. The egg rolls are without a doubt the best on the planet; and while my husband and I dine in or get takeout frequently, we both have favorites but often try bother dishes. He recently had the shrimp with lobster sauce and he couldn't stop saying how delicious it was - again! - and I tried the shrimp kow - loaded with shrimp and crunchy veggies. A week later, I was there with a friend from out of town who loves going there; I had the chicken with peanuts, nice and spicy, and she had the chicken egg foo young, and could not stop raving. (Of course we each had an egg roll - how can you not?) Charlie, the owner, is always so pleasant, even during the busiest of times, and the staff is courteous and attentive. The food was OK. We had a meal for three people because it was three of us. We had a beef on a stick, egg roll, crack, raccoon, beef, and peapods, general TSAO chicken and pork bites. The fried rice was good, but the shrimp were way too tiny. The service was impeccable. I had to order a special entree with out any seasoning to try and lower my bp because it is creeping up due to a virus that I caught back in June. I ordered Shrimp in Lobster sauce, no sodium or msg and it was delicious. I am looking forward to seeing which other dishes I can try because at Emperors Kitchen the food is made to order so special orders don't upset them. Well helloooo all; It's been a long winter but I am back! After ''50''years and I mean ''to''years, I decided to try this place for lunch with some friends. The last time I was there it was in the 70's and was theeee place in Brookfield to go to for this type of food. So we went. The portions were hudge, but the sauce on the other plates looked very light and gummy. I had the combo Egg Foo Young and I have to say, it was GREAT!. It was HOT, LOOKED good, and plenty of rich brown gravy with rice of course. (That was a little sticky). The service was good and when I spoke with the owner he was very helpful and quick to help. The service was abismal, didn't like how we were greeted and the way the older Asian man approached us. Asking us if we could get out of there by 8:00 pm since they were closing but we came in at 7:20 pm. There were lots of other people eating as well. The food is good but this business has shady practices. No where did it say 24% is added to you table if you have 6 people. I only took my family and daughter out and they added 24% to the bill with no explanation or with warning. So I will never eat here again and I mean never. I should have refused to pay ridiculous percentages. But hey they don't care about their clientele and I will never eat there again du to the shady under handed payment practices. We ordered carry out, so we didn't quite get that served-at-the-table freshness. But, with that, our food was excellent. I got the Chicken Hong Sue. It was something I hadn't seen before (chicken, dipped in batter, and fried). The amount of food I got was incredible! Easy to make two meals out of it. For the money, it's a fantastic deal. OMG! Worst Experience Ever! We went back to Emperor's Kitchen, where the food was usually really good. I always get the Sesame Chicken, but this time, it lacked not only flavor but also light when normally the color is dark, rich, savory, and visually appealing. The quality has gone downhill, and I was extremely disappointed. I didn't say anything to our waitress regarding my disappointment, but I did mention how horrible my assistant's meal was. My producer's meal was Chicken with Pea Pods, which came out cold; it appears this meal was prepared before all the other meals we received were, she took one bite and said that she couldn't eat it. Another person who was in our group said that her meal was just ok with no further comments, but she did say that she wouldn't be a return customer after frequenting this establishment for many years prior. When telling the waitress that the meal was cold and she didn't want it, the waitress called the manager over; he appeared to be a family member of the owners, but I had never seen him before. He approached us and asked what the problem was. My producer explained, and he replied that he would go reheat it, and my producer said she wasn't hungry anymore. He then picked up her "cold" plate and threw it in the garbage right in front of us (garbage can by the front counter). He then came back and grabbed the bowl of rice, which was served separately, at which time I said I would take the rice rather than him throwing it out, and he said "NO" and proceeded to throw it out. I was going to pay for the extra rice; I don't want something for nothing. Even when I review restaurants, I refuse to be compensated; I don't want to feel obligated to give good reviews just because I didn't pay for something. Upon paying for the meals, the "MANAGER" was very mean, the waitress, owner, and he were talking in Chinese and all looking at us in disgust. I won't be going back to Emperor's Kitchen. This place has gone downhill, and it's so sad because I used to love this place, it was my go-to for Chinese food, but not anymore. read more

I've been eating at EK since the 80's. It was my go to chinese restaurant. It's been a while since I've been there ( moved out of the area ) I always start with Hot and Sour soup. Marginal at best. Almost all broth with little solid content ( spouts, onion,mushrooms ) Good Hot and Sour soup should be so packed with extra things that you can almost eat it with a fork. Next I had pork fried rice. I didn't see any pork. It should have extra ingredients besides rice ( onions, shoots etc ) Their 'beef in hoisin sauce' was so good I rarely ordered something else. It wasn't as good as before. The sauce should have a little kick ....... the sauce wasn't the same. The soup and beef were just a bit salty. I'll say there was a ton of beef in the dish ....... I wished there were more veggies in it ( usually there is ) Anyway ....... I was very disappointed. It will be a while if ever I come back. read more

I tried the chicken pieces and drizzled them with sweet & sour sauce, a fried won ton, pork egg foo young and the chicken fried rice. There wasn't one thing that disappointed. My guy had the hot chicken in garlic sauce, the broccoli with garlic, and shrimp subgum. He loved every bite as much as I did. As we were leaving, he said to me- we're not doing take out any more. Odd location on the second level of this strip center. Your view is of the parking lot and car traffic at Kopp's. The service was great. I was greeted right away. My server was efficient. Not very friendly but she was busy. The manager was visiting tables and helping to clean up. I wasn't impressed with the food. The place is in a time warp. Very basic Chinese food. Just ok. Just as a heads up, I ordered takeout so I have no idea as to what the ambiance is inside. But from the brief moment I was there, they had plenty of seating so if you are there for a long wait time, you definitely won't be on your feet for long. I came here with my girlfriend and she ordered the sesame chicken which was DELICIOUS, and I had some garlic spicy chicken thing which was pretty good but definitely going to order the sesame chicken for myself. When we came here, they were pretty backed up, so takeout time was 25~ish minutes on Sunday so it was understandable. The servings are HUGE, I eat a lot and I could barely move after we ordered from here, so it's definitely worth the price. We ordered: Szechwan Beef, Sesame Chicken, Potstickers, and Egg rolls. The beef sauce tasted very ketchup-y, and something was off with the potstickers (I think they were over cooked). However, the egg rolls were AMAZING and I would highly recommend! The sesame chicken was good as well, although a little sweet. The portions were very generous and we had leftovers for lunch the next two days. When we went to pick it up, the phones were ringing non stop with orders for pick up. It was VERY busy, so I'll chalk up the potstickers to being overcooked because they were so busy because the flavor was good in the filling. The fried rice was alright however the chicken was over cooked of just poor quality as it was rubbery. The breading was mushy instead of crisp like fried chicken should be. We were back at one of our favorite Chinese lunch buffets on Thursday August 12th. I love that the buffet menu hasn't really change over the years, other than adjusting the prices over the years. I've attached the current buffet menu as of Aug 12 2019. This is still a favorite of mine. The buffet is small compared to the standard "New China" style, but I generally like it all.
