This was suppose to Magnolian beef.

Was looking forward to some good rice and magnolian beef. Rice was mushy and no magnolian beef but some chicken side. Writing this review to remind myself never to go there again.

I love this place! The food is hot, fresh, and delicious! Their lunch specials are a great value and everything comes out fast!

Until the mom and pop restaurants get clued in that Americans of today want authentic/native preparation of their homeland's food, we will continue to get the sad, gravy laden Chinese food of the 1950's. Now, that being said, Eat Rice, although having a lot of the aforementioned gravy, is indeed, as other Yelpers have pointed out, one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. Instead of taste, though, I'm going to talk about content. 1. Most Chinese restaurants, whether dine-in or takeout, provide too much rice with their dishes. You end up filling up on the rice and your main dinner has to be refrigerated as leftovers. Then, you have to make more rice the next time you want to eat the leftovers, but you always end up making too much, so now you have leftover rice that goes with nothing else in the fridge or gets thrown out. Am I right? Well, contrary to the directive that is this business' name, you are given the perfect amount of rice to go with your dinner. The only way you will have more is A) if you ordered extra or B) you just don't like rice very much 2. They don't skimp on the size of the cuts of meat, from chicken to beef to shrimp, you're getting chunks of meat, not fingernail sized pieces. See my picture of the shrimp? As big as a fortune cookie! 3. You're getting the meal you paid for, not a bunch of vegetables (celery in particular, ring any bells?) with a piece or two of meat thrown in. Also, you aren't getting crap veggies. My dish had carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, chestnuts, bok choy, green peppers, squash and cabbage in it, but more meat than any of the vegetables! I called in my order and was given a wait time of 30 minutes. In reality, it turned out to be closer to an hour, but I really didn't mind because when I got in, I saw that there was only one person cooking. I'd rather have to wait longer to eat than take a chance that I might be eating half cooked food, especially chicken. When I got home, we dug in. Hubs had the Szechuan beef and I had the Dragon and Phoenix (General Tso's chicken and garlic-y shrimp) both were good, in my opinion (hubs thought his was bland). We also had pork fried rice (standard) and he ate 2 pork egg rolls, which he said were mostly cabbage. Almond cookies were 3 for $.80 and fortune cookies were free (I got a little greedy and grabbed six, but I LOVE fortune cookies!). Overall, I would say it was a good amount of food for the money spent and the taste was better than average. I would go back again to try something different. As usual, I couldn't eat my whole dinner, so I'm eating the leftovers as I write this review. The amount of leftover rice is perfect. 102/2015

I should have eaten at Sze Chuan ages ago. I was told it was amazing. I even lived very near to it…read morein the past. It's been on my list, but I didn't go. That was an error. The restaurant is in a tucked away strip mall and is modest in size and decor. The strip mall also contains hidden treasures like a Chinese bakery/BBQ and an Asian store. We went early on a Saturday evening with friends. The service was excellent, although with some staff there were language hurdles. No matter - everyone made it work and we were left with an abundance of amazing food at a reasonable price. Wine and beers are served, as well as smoothies and other non-alcoholic drinks. BF ordered crab rangoon as a starter, which was good. He liked it more than I did, but it was nice and crispy. I just didn't think it compared to other dishes. My vegetable egg roll was very good as well, but nothing terribly unique. He went bold on the entree and ordered the pork intestine and blood cake dish. He really enjoyed it and said it was quite spicy. The portions are generous and he did bring a lot home. I ordered the homestyle tofu, which normally has pork. I got it without to make it vegetarian friendly. The textures were very good and the sauce was intensely flavorful, but mild. I also ordered a supplementary dish of braised mushrooms and Shanghai greens. Everyone at the table enjoyed this dish, particularly the greens, which are a variety of bok choy, called pac choy. The mushrooms were wonderful, with the texture of wood ears. I also had plenty of leftovers to eat the next day. Our friends ordered the Szechuan spicy pork dumplings and they got rave reviews. My cousin did say they were not overly spicy. She went on to order the sizzling black pepper beef, which she said was good, but not nearly as unique or deeply flavored as the other dishes. Her husband ordered the pork intestine with clear noodles, which he enjoyed but said was extremely spicy. He did leave a lot of sauce behind since it was so hot. He also had the ox tendon and maw in spicy sauce, which came with chopped peanuts on top. He seemed really pleased with that dish. We agreed that we would happily go back to explore the menu more. Everything was excellent and I thought the prices were generally quite reasonable, especially for the quantity of food. I do wish the menu had more descriptive text, so I could familiarize myself with the dishes. The choices are many and overwhelming and the menu is huge. I'd also love to see a symbol for vegetarian options since it's very hard to know otherwise and many of the vegetable dishes included pork or other meat. As we left the restaurant was getting increasingly busy with people waiting by the door for seats. This is a popular place for good reason.

It seems…read morethey are always busy, but the staff also does a good job getting guests seated, managing the wait list, getting food served and tables turned without rushing the guests. The Spicy Pork Dumplings have become my go-to appetizer, and the fried spring rolls are also very good. On a most recent visit, we ordered hot pot. Our server brought us the sheet to make our selections. You can choose from mild broth, spicy broth, or half tray of each. The spicy is pretty hot with lots of red chili peppers soaking in it, so I scooped out the chili peppers to keep rhe flavor but lessen the impact on my palate. For 2 guests, I recommend choosing 3 items from the list, maybe 2 protein and one veggie or 2 veggie and one protein to start. You can order more if you finish and need more. This is in addition to the two appetizers you will choose, which is included with rhe hot pot dinner. It's a great value! Sze Chuan remains on my short list of go-to's for Chinese dining, and I look forward to my next visit, whenever that may be.

I thought today that I would visit my old friend and even though I have been around the world with the menu that dam general Taos chicken dinner combination is my favorite. The general Taos chicken combination comes with chicken fried rice and an egg roll. The chicken is always big moist chunks of tender velveted chicken which I can't tell if it's white or dark meat because of the velveting process but I like it. The egg roll isn't the tiny ones that became the norm over the years and it's super average like 95 % of Asian restaurants now, not like years past when the egg roll was a signature staple in Asian restaurants and they made really good ones. The combination chicken fried rice is that kind you find on most combination menus, not the main dish dark fried rice full of meat and veggies but just enough to accompany the main dish. Overall it's tasty enough and better than the average neighborhood Chinese restaurant and for a dinner combination that was 2 1/2 pounds of food for $13.50, price vs quality vs taste it's a winner.

Which led us to order again on another occasion to try their regular menu items. This time around, we were slightly disappointed. NOTE: the pictures of the menu/prices on Yelp are VERY outdated. Some items may no longer be available, and the prices are higher, but fairly reasonable. We were able to order the items we wanted; however, a few errors were made with my sister's order (Shrimp and Vegetables). Thankfully, she was able to pick out the vegetables she couldn't eat. She also ordered Crab Rangoon, and it was about average. My Shrimp Egg Foo Young was delicious. The portion size was generous, and I was able to take home more than half of the order. The Veggie Spring Rolls I ordered were small, but hot and crispy. I was disappointed that I did not receive the hot mustard that I requested, but there were other dipping sauces available, so I made do. Both of our meals came with our choice of white rice or fried rice, so we both chose the fried rice. We received our food quickly, and everything was piping hot. We both felt that they did a very good job with the food, despite the minor errors. I do believe that there may have been a slight communication issue due to language, but if you don't have a special request, you should do just fine. In any case, we both liked it enough to say that we would go back again. The restaurant is not fancy, but it's casual and welcoming.
