I've had their pork Larb, Tom Yum, and Thai tea on multiple occasions and every time I want everything was made very well and the service was efficient and kind. The ambience was homie (nothing extravagant but who cares, that's not the intention). I've moved from that area now and I still miss their Larb and can't find a food replacement for me other than when I cook it myself. Definitely miss this place. read more

I knew my night would be crazy, so I placed a to go order to make sure I got in dinner early. My order consisted of beef pad see ew and pork egg rolls. The pork egg rolls were fantastic. Really good size, fresh ingredients, and amazing flavor. I would order these again in a heartbeat. The pad see ew is ok. I didn't think there was enough egg in it, I wasn't overly fond of the white onion, and both the broccoli and carrot seemed like they were added afterwards and not cooked in the sauce with the noodles and beef because they were harder than expected and didn't absorb any of the flavor of the sauce. Certainly not my favorite pad see ew in the area, but I wouldn't be opposed to getting it again. read more

Came here for dinner to eat some of this amazing pho I've heard so much about. Upon entering it's your standard Vietnamese restaurant - small and quaint; you feel super at home. Upon seating, my friends and I waited a bit to be acknowledged and served. Apparently it was a busy period with online orders. Once served, we were given menus and waters and the waitress was super sweet and fun. We instantly put in our order and it was another 15 minutes before receiving our dishes. The broth of the pho was quite amazing for it to be vegetable base. They have the additional add-ons on the table so you don't have to ask for a single thing. The beef larb was quite tasty as well. Favorable juicy and tender along with the sticky rice was a great pair. The egg rolls were tasty and nice in size. Reminded me of a fried spring roll to be honest. Nothing special or too different than a spring roll but they're super cheap and you get three per serving. I'd be super inclined to return to this establishment and recommend it to others! read more

My favorite place to get takeout pho. I actually have dreams about it, it's so good. It's super simple but the ingredients are always fresh and the broth is steaming hot. We love their shrimp fried rice too. Can't go ring with this one! I would definitely recommend getting something with bamboo shoots in it too! read more

I've been eating at Bamboo since they opened in fall 2015. Mostly I have loved their food. This week I ate there. I asked for pad kee mao without any red pepper flakes or chili paste. What I got was like very tired leftovers of a chop suey dish with maybe 3 wide noodles thrown in so they could call it pad see mao. The very worst part was that the tofu was spoiled/way too sour, inedible. When I told the server who did not come to the table to see how I was doing, so telling her when I'm done that the tofu was bad, she said she would look into it. And did nothing. I did not bother to say that my noodle dish had virtually no noodles. I just won't be going back. Is it new management or what? And the table top was ridiculously sticky. Gross! read more

I was wanting some Pho and my go to place is closed until next month at least so I thought I would hit up a long time bookmark, yes they were open. It's take out only and it looked like they had some orders lined up at lunch time. I called in a Sm beef Pho and an order of spring/fresh roll which was ready in 15 minutes. The spring/fresh rolls were pretty good with fresh/crisp veggies and a great appetizer for sure to get. It has bbq pork, shrimp, cucumber, lettuce, cilantro and bean sprouts with a hoisin plum sauce with crushed nuts. The Sm beef Pho has meatballs and thin sliced cooked beef along with all the standard Pho fixings. The Pho broth was in between average to good I thought because it lacked a depth of rich flavor compared to other Pho broths that I have had in the past. That being said with paste and hot oil added and completely assembled it was good but the two jalapeño slices were not enough for a person who likes spicy food. Overall I would definitely go back and try some more of the menu after looking over the yelp photos. read more

Walking in to pick up my food; it seemed small and to be honest I expected it to be a bad choice. I was sadly mistaken, the food was amazing; for the pricing I don't think nothing can beat it. Bamboo, located off of 35th and National is a tiny little restaurant. They have 6 tables of 4, so i wouldn't recommend it for big groups. The menu is smaller than most Thai places, which is totally manageable for their size. The husband and I for their Chicken Pad Thai, Raw beef laab and potstickers. The padthai was sweeter than most we've had before but it was still pretty good. The raw beef laab was amazing. The season was on point and laab can be quite hard to perfect. We had a level one spice and it was quite spicy so if you're not a pepper eater, i recommend zero pepper. (You can order cooked as well) However, the potstickers were not homemade which was a bit disappointing, but still good. Only downfall is the location. It's all street parking and with the neighborhood, street parking can be extremely limited. If you're looking for raw laab which is hard to find around the Milwaukee area, i would recommend Bamboo. We are looking forward to our next visit to try other dishes. read more

Esaan sausages were so juicy and delicious! They are made with meat, rice spices and garlicky goodness. I never tried Thai style sausages before, so they were a pleasant surprise. I've ordered delivery from Bamboo a few times now. The first time, my friend and I were looking for a late lunch that would satisfy her young son as well as us. We were able to order curry and Pad See Ew for us and General Tso for him. Perfect. He a picky kid about that dish and he liked it and was thrilled there was no broccoli in it. Our red curry was complex and interesting. The noodles dish was full of nice wide noodles and fresh vegetables. I've since tried the Pad Thai and vegetable egg roll as well. Both were excellent and satisfying comfort food during the pandemic. The prices are very reasonable, compared to other restaurants in the category. The food is very good. And the delivery has always gotten to me nice and hot, even though I'm in Tosa. This is a favorite for me. read more

We were visiting from Chicago, and were excited to eat some Esaan (NE Thai)/Laotian food after stopping by the Buddha Haksa Temple. As someone who spent nearly a decade living in Thailand, I am generally rather snobbish when it comes to the authenticity of the cuisine here in the Midwest, but Bamboo did not disappoint! We started with the Esaan Sausage and papaya salad, prepared Lao style as per the server's recommendation, and both were delicious! My partner was joking that I would drink the sauce from the papaya salad; she was right! The fermented fish sauce used in the Laotian-style papaya salad was unique and tasty. We then shared the beef/tripe Larb salad (also recommended from our wonderful server), and it was flavorful and perfectly accommodated with sticky rice. Finally, we shared a shrimp dish that was spicy and citrusy and a delightfully light foil to our heavier main course of Larb (beef/tripe salad). Overall, Bamboo was a fantastic experience, and we will certainly visit again when we're in Milwaukee. I got the vegetable egg rolls, which were yummy with the sauce and then beef fried rice with extra egg. The beef is a bit salty but overall hit the spot. Improved Pho broth. Last night they were out of beef, so they very politely asked if pork or BBQ pork would be ok to replace it, and of course I said yes. I chose the regular pork and I thought it worked well in the beef based broth with the beef meatballs. Seafood pho is another pho option on their menu, and pho normally comes in two sizes, small and large. The $5 PHObruary special is the small size, which is plenty, especially if ordering an appetizer. The egg rolls were good, too. read more

Everything was really delish! I love the condiment tray available at each table. Table and chair seating. There is a large screen TV that had college football playing tonight. Bamboo is located in the Silver City Neighborhood of Milwaukee and this area has a lovely Saturday evening vibe. The neighborhood has been called Silver City since the 1890's when nearby factory workers were paid in silver coins. The history goes that the workers began using the silver coins in the neighborhood's twenty four taverns and as silver coins circulated through the neighborhood taverns the city newspapers began referring to the neighborhood as Silver City. I'm looking forward to going back to Bamboo. The papaya salad and salt and pepper dishes are next on my list. read more

Good food, but questionable customer service.. We ordered two meals via Eat Street tonight- house special fried rice and general Tso's chicken, and pork egg rolls. Eat Street delivered the food within an hour (typical and acceptable).. The fried rice was great. The General Tso's was ok, and missing the rice. Called Bamboo directly, and talked to a man (or teenager, not sure), who was hard to understand (understandable) but also mumbling a lot and not talking very much. A lot of silence between talking- strange. After explaining to him that the white rice was missing from the order, a woman eventually got on the phone, asked if we wanted new rice delivered, and then put the slow talking guy back on the phone.. he sorta asked for our address, and then more silence.. and more silence.. and then click.. Yup, he hung up out of the blue. After waiting a few minutes, my wife cooked up some "instant" rice.. Not quite the same as Chinese restaurant white rice. An hour later, the rice arrived. An hour after our original food arrived. So, in summary.. food was ordered at 5pm, food arrived around 6, and rice was delivered at 7:10pm. Eat Street can't be blamed- they only deliver the order- they don't prepare and pack it. Too many other good options around here for these shenanigans. read more

I strongly believe this place is one of Milwaukee's secrets. It's located south and feel like most people associate this part of town with Latin cuisine. A friend recommended eating here for their lunch special, and I'm glad I went. You can get an entree, soup, and an egg roll for only $10! Not only is the food fairly priced outside of lunch, but is excellent quality as well. I've been to Thailand before and never had a bad meal and here I can say the same! Came here in search of some decent pho in milwaukee. Didn't get what I was looking for but I did have an excellent meal. This place is located on 34 and national. About six fourtops make up the small dining room. We arrived at 530 and sat down immediately. By 6 the dinning room was full. The teenage waitress seemed a little flustered but did a nice job of keeping here composure with a full dining room. We ordered Crab Rangoon, yellow curried fried rice, vege pho, Tom yum, and Tom kha. The Tom yum and kha we awesome. Very flavorful with nice chunks of freshly made chicken. Crab Rangoon was average along with the pho. Just not a lot going on with those dishes. Curry fried rice was excellent. Tons of flavor and nicely portioned. Even though I wasn't a fan of the pho I will definitely return to this place based on the freshness and attention to detail on the dishes we did enjoy. read more

They use big tomatoes that didn't look good and it look very plain. The curry was good. We got the Pad See Ew and Pad Kee Mao. Both were delicious. They have THE BEST EGG ROLLS EVER!!!! Everyone there was also very nice. Heads up we got medium heat which was pretty spicy. The Pad Kee Mao comes with Jalepenos which gives it even more spice so take that into account when telling them the spice level you want. read more

I ordered a pretty nice amount of food paying about $60. I ordered veggie egg rolls for my daughter and l and l found a piece of plastic in my egg roll. When l called they could only offer me free egg rolls the next time l order, who would want to reorder from a place that wouldn't compensate you for almost eating plastic?! Bamboo is a quiet, unassuming restaurant that serves yummy food with the added neat feature of being (mostly) vegetarian!

Went here today to try their $5 Phobruary pho and to compare it to Vientiane. I was going to try the chicken, but then I thought I should probably compare apples to apples, so I went with the beef and meatballs here, as well. The broth was great. I could immediately taste the beef flavor and did not detect any salt. Doctoring it to give it a little more "oomph" would not have ruined it, but it was good as it was, so I left it. I received less onion and more cilantro in my bowl than I did across the street. The add ins were slightly different too. Here they gave us a lettuce wedge, sprigs of basil, lime wedges and bean sprouts, but also sliced jalapenos and whole small hot peppers. I added in the bean sprouts and jalapenos. I would describe the beef and meatballs exactly the same as I did in my Vientiane review. I have to give the slight edge to Bamboo in regards to the pho. I've never eaten here before, so I can't go on anything other than that, but I will return to try other dishes. As a side note, I heard the owner talking to some other customers and he told them that his wife had been the chef over at Vientiane for 6 years, before they bought Bamboo. She is now the chef here (obviously). Not only did he check up on us, but she came out of the kitchen to check on us too. It's nice to be able to talk to the chefs directly. Parking in this area is a pain in the neck, so expect to find a spot on a side street and hoof it. It will be worth it! 21/2016 read more

One of our favorite new restaurants. Just went for the tonight for a return trip and really enjoyed the food. The service is very friendly and the new restaurant owner has done a great job improving the space with warmer colors and decor. The first time we went I ordered the pad Thai which was lacking a little on flavor. I let the owner know and on my second visit she had a delicious new recipe waiting for me. The reason we came back though was the red kang curry, which my wife has nicknamed a bowl of happiness. If you order it vegan they add more coconut milk which makes it extra creamy. I was so impressed. I wanted to try someplace new and got delivery from here. Everything was great! I ordered twice to make sure try a variety of things. They have amazing food. I tried traditional favorites like Egg Foo Young, Egg Drop soup and Beef and Broccoli. I also tried Pho, Chicken Satay and BBQ Beef appetizer. I tried Egg Rolls and Spring Rolls. My friends and I were very impressed with everything. The sticky rice is super fun to order in addition to traditional jasmine rice. Many items have a heat level, we tried it and it can get spicy! So if you do not like spice order 0 or no spice. If you like spice order your comfort level. The soups are wonderful. Everything is very well made and fresh. The Egg Foo Young is some of the best I have ever had, and I do like Egg Foo young a lot. I want to order more items to try more things!
