Nine years ago I had a rough experience with Chinatown Kitchen that made me not want to stop ever again. A recent lack of other options, however, forced me to give them a second chance. I ordered a pint of pork fried rice with no onion, one shrimp egg roll, and one pork egg roll. The filling in the pork egg roll slightly reminded me of what you'd find in an egg roll from a grocery store freezer, but it wasn't mushy compared to the grocery store kind. I've had better pork egg rolls, but I've also had worse. The shrimp egg roll was surprisingly good. Slightly larger than the pork egg roll, there was a definite difference in terms of quality of the filling and it had notable pieces of shrimp. I don't know if it was cinnamon I was tasting, but there was a hint of something like cinnamon in it, which I've had before in an egg roll elsewhere and makes it stand out from the pack. I would get the shrimp egg roll again. I found it funny when I took the pork fried rice out of the bag that it said "no veg" on the box, which meant onion was the only vegetable in it to begin with. As I quickly determined, if you say no onion all you're getting is fried rice and, in this case, pork. Thankfully, there was way more pork than I was expecting and it was good quality pieces. It would have been nice to have something like carrots or peas or egg in the fried rice as well just to give it another texture without the onion, but I'd still get it again even as such. read more

I ordered Beef with peppers. The beef was very tasty but there was way too much onion. I ate some but I still had a large pile of onion when I was finished. They are really not set up for eat in service. 5 small tables. Canned soda which was room temperature and no ice. The egg roll was very good and not overloaded with cabbage. You walk up to order at the checkout and our food was brought to the table by a young boy. This place obviously caters to their carry out business. read more

First of the price per item was $2.00 more than shown on their website. I ordered chicken lo mein. It was awful. My husband had cashew chicken also not good. He did get a surprise in his dinner, a piece of wire. We do not recommend this place and we will never go back. read more

This is like the worst Kung pao shrimp I've ever had. I was actually angry when I open up the container and realized they had given me a container of carrots and celery with a few shrimp. I don't like celery, and usually when I order king pao I say no celery, but so many places have said that they don't use it so I stopped bothering. Even so the sauce was just watery and had zero heat...I'm not saying it only had a little heat..I mean NONE AT ALL. I literally could've whipped this up in my kitchen with a bottle of soy sauce and a bag of carrots. 2 stars instead of 1 because the food was hot and I also ordered crab Rangoon which was decent. read more

First annoyance about this place was that we tried to order online for delivery. After entering our entire order, the site wouldn't give us the option to select delivery. I then called and she said I had to order over the phone to get delivery. When choosing delivery we were not able to use coupons at all so the bill automatically went up about $7. (Not including the delivery charges) The food was delivered in a decent amount of time. One of the items we chose was egg foo young. The gravy was missing. Egg foo young is not the same without gravy. I called and was told they would just give me extra gravy next time or I could come and pick it up! What extra gravy next time? I didn't want extra. I wanted the gravy now. I had already spent about $20 more to have our food delivered with not being able to use the coupon along with delivery charges and tip tip for the Uber eats driver. (Btw - he was great!) After talking with the owner the only thing they did was credit my cc for $2. This was very disappointing because egg foo young isn't good without the gravy. It went in the garbage. I will never order from this place again. We have ordered from them for many years and honestly the food has gone down hill and isn't the same as it used to be. I wanted some Chinese food for lunch so I stopped by one of my bookmarks for a lunch special. The place is in a strip mall next to JC Penny, off to the side and I missed it the first drive by. The place is another Chinese place that has no one in it like lots of Chinese places that I have visited. The place is big and open but only has 5 tables with colorful walls. The menu has all the usual dishes but I would try the sweet and sour pork for a change lunch special with an extra shrimp egg roll. The lunch specials only comes with rice, white or fried by the way and I took it to go. Right away after opening the lid you could see the pork was fluffy looking but I was hopping for the best, I pushed my fork in and it was spongelike, I ate a couple pieces and it was spongy and not very meaty because there is a small piece of pork and 2/3 batter around it. The pork fried rice was cooked perfect, no mushy rice with very little pork. The shrimp egg roll was better than average but not that great egg roll I'm searching for. Overall the food was ok but its not the best or the worst lunch special and my favorite place is still safe after all these years, if I went back I would get a meat/veggie dish to try. read more

I regularly get lunch from here and it's always been very good inexpensive food! Not anymore! I had been seeing some other cooks in the kitchen and noticed the after one bite of the chicken that sometimes had changed. Weird mouthfeel hard to describe. Ate most of it but wasn't happy. Thought it was a fluke went back same thing. Today I tried it again but went with the beef even that had a weird mouthfeel! New ownership but not for the better. I stopped in to Chinatown as Culvers was to busy for me. As this was my first time here I stayed with the basics Shrimp fried rice and Shrimp egg fo young. The shrimp fried rice was terrible, no taste at all, none. Although it had shrimp in it you would not know by tasting it. I don't think there was anything else in it. The egg fo young was better and more similar to what you might expect. But again lacking that big taste. The gravy was terrible it was more like a dipping sauce than gravy for egg fo young ,it was an unexpected surprise that was not good. The service was fast. read more

My experience with Chinese restaurants has been 50/50 and when I finally hit on one that was consistently good - we moved out the area. My new search, around Richfield, led me through the Germantown/Menomonee Falls area and, while OK experiences, nothing so far has been worth a return visit. Chinatown kitchen has potential. I'm not a Chinese gourmet. Just looking for good preparation, seasoning, and quality ingredients. Small sample size, but our General Tso, Pepper Steak and veggie fried rice met expectations. The family here can cook and their work ethic is inspiring! The most delicious creamy piping hot crunchy crab rangoons! The steamed dumplings are to die for but don't forget to dip in the sweet with a hint is spice brown sauce. The shrimp and vegetables were spot on, the sesame chicken with the pork fried rice was to die for, and the orange chicken was a favorite at out table of 10. They were accommodating and even let us move the tables to seat us all! The sauces here all all homemade and you can taste it in their orange chicken and sweet and sour sauce as it lacks the chemical aftertaste and instead tastes like delicious tangy goodness! As someone that watches there diet pretty stringently, there are few places that you can go to get a good low sodium tasteful meal. Chinatown offers a diet menu with items prepared with no salt, no other flavoring and no msg. While that will probably not be a favorite for those seeking the usual fast food salty fare it is my favorite menus items all around. Shrimp, scallops, chicken with mixed veggies and steamed rice (without all the stuff I mentioned) is as good as you're going to get on the go if you're trying to eat out without busting your gut. Staying in town on business, I was looking for a good Chinese restaurant (kind of mission whenever I'm on the road for work). My hotel is next to a Panda Express so I knew I needed to look further! I ordered on-line (very handy); Garlic Shrimp, Hot Sour Soup and Steamed Dumplings. The Hot Sour Soup was nice and hot but not very spicy. The Garlic Shrimp was good as well, and had plenty of big shrimp. It was not as spicy as I would've liked, but the sauce had really good flavor. The dumplings had a thinner wonton, which I prefer. Some restaurants use really thick, gummy wontons and are kind of gross. I will definitely order from here again as I plan to back in the area again! read more

How does this place have any good reviews ordered chicken fried rice (simple right) added vegetables for a buck after some confusion as it only comes with onions, they offer a vegetable but no combination. Ordered and took to friends who recently purchased a house in the area, they weren't impressed either. Had no flavor, didn't eat, took home figured it was salvageable. In doing so came to find out there was little or no veggies (only a buck right?) and very little chicken. My friends who are so close the verdict is in, never again. Never amazes me how poorly a Chinese restaurants can be and stay in business. As a comparison I buy Costco frozen fried rice it has a descent amount of vegges along more chicken, not as much rice. It's essentially the same cost for six packs. Very disappointing! When visiting again and have an urge for Chinese i the area will be driving a bit further to try something else. read more

update 10/21: so we placed a $30 delivery order and one item was hot spicy shrimp as well as two soups, noodles, and shrimp fried rice. So hot and spicy shrimp has no shrimp. Called to let them know and they said I was wrong. Tried to explain I order a lot from them and never had an issue before. They reiterated I'm wrong and said goodbye. Soooooo..... definitely have to change my view of their service. Food still good, but definitely don't recommend the delivery. It seems their delivery has had issues with negative experiences. Family owned restaurant. Very modest sit in area, designed more for take out. This adorable 11yo girl took our order and answered all of our questions. We ordered shrimp fried rice, vegetable spring rolls, and hot/sweet shrimp. Excellent food with excellent service. Only grievance is both shrimp dishes were light on the shrimp. Love this Chinese place!! Sometimes it's the "hole in the wall" places that have THE BEST food! I have lived in the Sheboygan Area going on 5 years now, and when we want an easy, fast meal we usually go with Pizza. The reason for that is I have never found a quality Chinese place around... Until today. ChinaTown Kitchen is very very good! I am from St. Paul MN and around every corner is another awesome Chinese spot when you have the craving. In Sheboygan? Not so much. So... We live nearby in Germantown and this is by far our favorite chinese place in the area. I have 5 kids and we can get takeout for all of us (including my wife) for around $45 and the food is excellent! The hostess (always the same one) is very friendly. We highly recommend this versus the local buffets which you overeat at - besides you get a better quality of food here.
