It starts with a very transactional order pick-up with one word comments. Name? Phone number? (and then the amount). No hello, no conversation, and no smiles. Then the food. There were no condiments in the bag as most Chinese food restaurants do. What appeared to be the same gooey sauce was used for the fried wonton appetizers and for the orange chicken. The orange chicken had a very few sprigs of broccoli, and very little chicken. It was mostly fried batter in the gooey sauce. It also was supposed to be spicy, but it was not. Have ordered from here 3 times since moving to Grafton last year. First few times the food was ok, nothing great. First time we ordered, they took our credit card no problem. 2nd time we ordered, all of a sudden it was cash only (don't like that but hubby wanted his food so we got cash out), and last night was the third, and final, time we order from there. Our normally $20something order was suddenly $35. Hubby picked up and paid for the food but didn't ask why it was so high so lord knows what they charged us for. We always order the same thing. The final blow was waking up this morning to our entire house smelling like death. I tracked the awful smell to our fridge, which when opened reeked like it had dead mice inside. Come to find, it was our order of vegetable fried rice that stunk so bad. I opened the container and the rice inside was slimy! Never have I ever experienced takeout fried rice, or any food for that matter, spoiling so badly and so quickly in a matter of a few hours in the fridge. Absolutely disgusting. I don't know what they used or if the veg they cooked were old but there's no way normal rice would rot like that. I wish I would have taken pictures or a video but I was so disgusted and the house smelled so bad, that the only thing on my mind was to get that rice out of my house and into the garbage bin outside fast! This place was really, really solid. The Chinese fried dumplings are fantastic. Singapore mei fun is different than I'm used to but also very good. Yesterday I went to Spring Garden with my Boyfriend . The food is so delicious. We ordered Singapore noodles, fried dumplings, chicken. And I added the house special soup. People are very nice here. The Singapore noodles tasted the same as I was in Singapore. The fried dumplings are just about the right heat level. If you are Chinese, you will taste it as very good. And I added soup due to I really like the food here. Meanwhile, I saw the girl who worked in the restaurant, sit and clean the bean with careful and patient. Make me feel the food is clean and reliable. Hope the restaurant will be more and more popular. We will come back again. read more

We order from here occasionally since we live so close, there is a $35 minimum for pick up. We don't mind having leftovers with the extra food we have to order to meet the minimum, but $35 is a bit much. This review is a bit overdue, but I think the main concerns still apply. I started going to Spring Garden a couple times a week for lunch about 3 years ago when I moved into the Grafton area. I had other menu items, but I primarily ordered the Kung "Po" Chicken, as it is referred to on their menu. It wasn't spectacular, but it was sufficient as a lunch special. After about a year, I came in to the restaurant like any other day, ordered my food, but then was promptly told by the hostess that going forward, I needed to order at least $10 worth of food if I wanted to pay with a credit card. I understand that restaurants incur charges for credit card payments and what not, but it was still a little off-setting for me as a fairly loyal customer. And as someone that has been to many Chinese restaurants and only ordered $6 or so worth of food for just myself, I've never encountered this type of issue before. Since then, I have not been back and probably will never go back. Also, I was just browsing the take-out portion of their website and apparently there's a $35 minimum....to order take-out!! I'm not sure how strictly they enforce that, but the idea of it is pretty crazy since they're essentially putting a minimum cap on what they're allowing you to pick up. I went to Spring Garden today to get some take out. I would have ordered online, but like another reviewer said, they require a purchase of over $30.00 to use the online ordering. I went to the location, walked in, and the first thing I saw was a sign stating that to use my card, a minimum purchase of $12.00 was required. Since I only wanted a $5.95 meal, I turned around and left. This, however, was not the end of my Spring Garden adventure. Once I returned to work, I looked up the MasterCard merchant agreement. MC does allow minimum purchase amounts for credit cards, but NOT debit cards. The egg rolls are capstone to any Chinese-American restaurant and Spring Garden fits the bill on fantastic egg rolls! The monstrous egg roll has a delicious, cabbage and spiced pork filling and has a thick, extra crunchy wrapper. Dipped in sweet and sour sauce and served piping hot, the egg roll is like a meal in itself. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and as you walk through the door, you see the popular Chinese restaurant counter with photographs of the finished dishes on the wall. The dining room looks a little neglected and your opportunity to dine in is limited to about 5 tables. I enjoyed the tofu and vegetable dish that I had. I don't know if I had a bad batch but the chicken was rubbery and way too chewy and there were giant CHUNKS of orange peel in my chicken. Enough to make me cringe just thinking about it.
