This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the country. Their Pud Se Euw with chicken and beef is the best I've found anywhere. I'll ask for extra broccoli next time. They took my reservation the same day, cheerfully let me add more people and kindly let us be a few minutes late.

This is a 2.5 for the food and a 2.75 for enthusiastic service. The food has been to Americanized. The "Adventurous spice" was pretty weak and the sauce on the Drunk Man noodle was way too sweet. Nice folks but the food leaves much to be desired.

My memory of this place is vague. I don't even remember it really. But hubby keeps telling me we went there, like 10 years ago, and were disappointed. So every time I'm trying to order food from here when ubereats has some discount, he'll keep telling me that it was not good. I usually ask him what dish he would like to pick, but I was tired of hearing, nope, we didn't like that dish 10 years ago, and really just wanted to give them another chance after 10 years, so I went ahead and made the order all by myself. Glad I did. Pad kee mao (drunken noodles) - I LOVE that they cooked the noodles with delivery in consideration!! THIS is how it's done, other noodle/pasta restaurants who make takeout food! You really need to undercook the noodles a bit, considering that it will continue to cook as it travels and gets to your customers' table. So when we bit into it, it wasn't too soft nor too hard. Got this one down for takeout! Not the abosolute bestest pad kee mao I've had (that designations goes to a place in LA), but considering all the other fails I've had in the greater Milwaukee area, this one was really OK. It stayed simple, and the flavors were kicking. Calamari - simple calamari. Nothing special. Small portion, as it is an appetizer. Beef Laab - typical laab. Came with one piece of lettuce and a few slices of cucumbers. But they put the single piece of lettuce on the bottom, and it was too drenched in fish sauce and lemon juice to serve its purpose as a wrap. It served as decoration more than anything else. Nothing exceptional about the tastes here, but also, another one solid. When we received the order, I was at first disappointed in the box sizes. (note my book for comparison lol) But the food was packed in pretty tightly, and when fluffed up and plated, worked out for 2 people just fine, considering that two of the dishes were appetizers. Overall, a good, solid 4. No more hating, hubby!

How have I not already reviewed The King and I?! I'm completely off of my Yelp game! I need supervision! This is some of the very best Thai in Milwaukee. Hands down. And, the best Pad Thai in Milwaukee, no contest. It's so good! The King and I menu has a lot of variety and there are many dishes with vegetables for the herbivores. I'm gluten intolerant and especially appreciate that The King and I had gluten free designations on their menu. And their lunch buffet! To die for!

Average food option near the river. Tom yum soup was tasty. Typical flavors. Hot and efficient takeout.

We were looking for a good takeout spot close by and a friend recommended King & I. It was easy to order through Postmates and the food took about 40min, which is the norm for Postmates I would say. Our order came in boxes with chopsticks and was piping hot when we got it. We thought the food was delicious and perfect for what we were looking for. We would definitely be back, likely for carry out in the future.

We ordered many dishes. Soup, appetizers and main dishes. The manner of customer service is fair but the lady at least tried to help with food options. I just i think the food quality didn't match my preferences. Also a little bit pricey. For me, I don't think I might come here again.

If the name of this restaurant doesn't tell a story, then I don't know what to say. With a name like this, the place must be good! So I was greeted by a very warm staff, and my waitress was nice and spunky! I asked her "which did she prefer, the chicken pad thai or the yellow chicken curry" She chose the curry. So thats what I went with, it came with jasmine rice and a delicious spring roll! along with beef chili stew as an appetizer. The stew was out of this world, it was the kind of stew that warms your spirit with each and every sip, and I could tell that the broth was homemade. My curry dish was up to par as well, I chose a level 3/4 spice level and it was pretty spicy, while also having a delicious flavor profile as well. I fell in love with this dish, and the restaurant as a whole, because you could taste the quality and all of the effort that was put into their cooking. I am glad that I stopped here before flying back home, cheers to good eats everyone!

If you are celiac or gluten-free, I don't recommend ever eating here. While they have a dedicated gluten-free menu with options for changing things out, on two separate occasions (of the 4 times I've been there) they've made a mistake. It puts you in a challenging and uncomfortable situation when you are curious about something actually being gluten-free. I know for myself, you don't want to insinuate that you don't trust your server! My most recent visit there I had the shittake/vegetable Ramen with rice noodles. I explained that I can't have soy sauce because it contains wheat. I explained that if they have tamari that they could check if it is wheat free because I often can have tamari instead of soy sauce. I explained that I can't have anything that contains wheat. My server informed me that she would make sure that this was gluten-free, that the rice noodles would be replacing the Ramen noodles. While eating I was curious if the noodles were not gluten-free, and I was informed that they do seem to be rice noodles. We were also sure to order the tofu as steamed rather than fried so that it would not have cross-contamination. (Due to first glutened experience) Later that night and the following day I can report that what I ate was not in fact, rice noodles or gluten free, and I have been glutened. On a previous occasion, I ordered the fresh spring rolls with a sauce that I was informed was gluten-free with tofu. While already eating this, the server came over and informed me that the tofu was not gluten-free, and had been fried. I think that there may be some lack of understanding what gluten-free means and how it impacts people generally in most of the food service industry. I believe they did their best to try to accommodate. That being said if you are celiac or gluten intolerant, please steer clear! Very unfortunate because it was tasty. I understand that as someone who needs to eat gluten-free that I am taking a risk by eating at a restaurant that is not gluten-free forward. Although they have a dedicated allergy menu, two out of the four times I've eaten there it hasn't made a difference. Great restaurant, not great for celiac.

I completely agree that this isn't authentic chinese food, but approachable fusion that tries to keep it truthful to the flavors and presentation. The highlight of the meal was the peking duck, which they only have about 2 orders of a night. We snagged it immediately when we sat down and it can easily feed 4 people with the sides. The duck was juicy and cut into thick pieces, so it was more of a steak rather than a bao style that I am used to. Nevertheless, it was delicious and even warmed up well the next day. The green onion wraps were...strange in my opinion. They fell apart easily and didn't have the best flavor that complemented the duck. Overall, I would come back for the duck itself, but everything else was average or extra salty. Service was great and the staff are very attentive. Happy eating!

The vibe: It was packed at 7:15 PM on a Sunday, and they held firmly to our reservation time--which is understandable given the crowd. We took a nice stroll while waiting, so no harm done. Once seated, the service was excellent--attentive, prompt, and professional. The food: This is clearly high-end Americanized Chinese food, not authentic regional cuisine. If you go in expecting that, you'll have a better experience. The menu reads like a "greatest hits" collection--familiar dishes done with nicer ingredients and presentation. What worked well: Smashed Cucumber - A strong start. The cilantro and bean sprouts were exceptionally fresh, and the peanut finish added nice depth, though the sauce leaned a bit salty for my taste. Service and atmosphere - polished and efficient. What fell short for me: Wonton Soup - The wrappers were thicker than I prefer; I like a more delicate, translucent skin. The leek-based broth was pleasant, though. Salt & Pepper Cod - The seasoning was good, but the cod pieces were too thick, so the center remained bland. Halving the thickness would improve the texture. Mongolian Beef - Tender meat, but I wanted thicker cuts and larger onion pieces for more bite. It leaned a bit soggy for my preference. Rice Cake with Pork Belly - Pork belly was well-executed, but too many rice cakes overwhelmed the dish. The flavor leaned Korean (almost kimchi-like), which felt like a departure from the rest of the menu. Beef Chow Fun - Felt repetitive, using the same thin-sliced beef and bean sprouts as other dishes. I'd prefer charred broad rice noodlesthat are thin. These rice sticks were wide and thick,so like the cod, the center of the rice sticks were bland. I also preferred more eggs in this dish for variety. The overall pattern: Many dishes share similar ingredients and sauce profiles, which makes sense for a busy kitchen but does reduce variety across the meal. Bottom line: If you're looking for authentic, nuanced Chinese cooking, this probably isn't your spot. But if you want a polished, upscale version of familiar Chinese-American favorites in a great location, with reliable service, Dan Dan delivers that well. I personally wouldn't return, but I can see why it's popular--especially for the crowd that wants comfort food in a nicer setting.
