I need to prep this review that I was with a group of 9 adults--the reservation was only for 8 and they allowed us to squeeze in another and it was so kind that they let us get away with that. The reason I speak to the number of adults is because they were a bit inappropriate: they were very loud and I felt so bad because I have no doubt the group I was with disrupted the experience of other diners. I'm not a prude but even I was slightly embarrassed at times (I didn't know the group well and didn't anticipate the noise/volume). ANYWAY, I bring all that up because our server tolerated us and I was very grateful for him. Aside from being kind, he was very knowledgeable about trying/pairing items and making suggestions for us. Room Service is an elite Asian restaurant located in the Bayview neighborhood of Milwaukee. It is quite a fancily decorated restaurant with the ambiance of a fine-dining establishment. Definitely perfect for a date night or if you're wanting nice dinner with friends. I got their One Night in Bangkok cocktail which was presented with an aromatic lemongrass cloud. For $18, it was alright and the drink is definitely more known for its presentation. For food, we got their Royal Flower Dumplings which were absolutely delicious, unique, and well seasoned. I also got their Chicken Ka Phrao which was quite nice. My friends also highly enjoyed all of the dishes they tried. I had the House Pad Thai a few weeks ago and I still think about it at least twice a week. Our table also had two of the nigiri plates and crab rangoon plates. The nigiri wasn't great? It might be a specific taste but I was not a fan of the seaweed. The crab rangoons were delicious and I highly recommend them. The service was very professional and our waiter was on top of it. The ambiance was not super ada accessible and was a very quiet and classy. Could not recommend the crab rangoon, house pad thai, and the "No Train..." N/A cocktail enough. Oh my goodness- so we came for a birthday dinner and left very satisfied by the service, ambiance, and meal fit for the birthday boy! We got two small plates and two big plates which felt appropriate for a dinner and without drinks, stacked us up to ~$100. While on the more pricier end, I would argue you pay way more for the aesthetics and service than flavors. The flavors are still, though, fantastic and extremely filling and hearty. We started off with kai tod hat yai which is a Thai style chicken marinated and fried crispy and the spicy fatty tuna tartar. While the chicken was a 4/5 the tuna tartar was a 5/5. The big plates we got were the chicken pad kee mao and kurobuta pork in panang curry sauce- 5/5, flavors I just haven't touched at other restaurants!! Huge fan of the decor in the space- it complements this really intimate, noir dining experience with colorful plating. **They charge differently for different types of water! Cannot recommend this place enough! It's perfect every time. The short rib quite literally falls off the bone and the broth is decadent with the perfect amount of spice. The sushi was also incredibly fresh and the crispy rice was perfectly crispy. The mocktails are always perfect, and my husband loved his cocktail. Nothing about Room Service disappointed. Lily served us and she was spectacular. She was attentive and yet gave us the space we needed on Valentine's Day to enjoy our night together. What a birthday experience! My wife took me here for my birthday as it was on my list of places to try! I will say it was worth it and they made it seem less from the moment we walked in. Beware this place can be quite busy so I recommend making a reservation. I also think they have an amazing bar area if you just wanted to stop in for drinks. Holy 5+ stars. I finally made it here and can confidently say it lives up to the hype. My husband and I, who dined in for our anniversary, both noted that it felt like we were on vacation or simply just transported out of Milwaukee. The ambiance inside the restaurant was wonderful- big fan of the low lighting, the decor, modern and beautiful furniture. They really did it right with the overall design. We arrived on the dot for our 7pm reservation and were seated promptly. Our server, Carli, was so wonderful. Very friendly, and certainly knowledgeable about the menu. And let me tell ya, this is no simple menu! After walking us through her suggestions, she brought over my husband's draft beer and my cocktail- 'the last train to chiang mai' which was vodka based with orange blossom, among other shaken ingredients. Delicious, smooth, and well-presented. Speaking of well-presented... everything we ordered was photo-worthy to say the least. We started with the flower dumplings. Literally dough that was beautiful purple color with gold flakes on top, filled with some kind of insanely delicious cilantro and peanut filling!? It was tough to pick what else to order but landed on the chashu bao buns next (tender, amazing pork belly), along with the short rib from the entree section, and a sushi lobster roll. I won't lie, there wasn't a bit that we didn't like. We were in awe of not only the food and flavors, but also how well-oiled of a machine this restaurant is. From the hostess to the server and the food runners, everyone is helping everyone make the experience for guests smooth and enjoyable. Oh anddd we were so generously treated to a dessert, as we were visiting on our anniversary. The tiramisu-like cake was divine. Only cons: it is wildly hard (like too hard) to get a reservation here. By some miracle we got in on a Tuesday at 7pm, but boy do you have to plan ahead. It's a bummer really, because I'd sooner return if I could. Also, I regrettably answered 'still water' after being asked which kind of water we'd like for the table, and was kind of shook by the $9 price tag for a bottle of water. Note to self: stick to tap. He had great suggestions, we never had empty glasses, and he paced out our meal perfectly. We couldn't decide what to get, so we got 3 starters, a sushi roll, and entrees - so there was a lot to keep track of but he kept the flow moving! Had a great double date here, minus the Halloween decor. I would consider this place fine dining, and the skulls and witches and skeletons just go against that vibe. Yes, it's Halloween season, but I would have preferred their normal pretty decor behind all the garish stuff. We were seated upstairs. When reservations were made we were told that we'd be on their rooftop with heaters - I was a bit apprehensive about getting cold, but the rooftop is actually covered, and the gas fire heaters were pretty to look at while providing comfortable heat. It was perfect for a late October evening. I'm not sure how well it would have gone in January or February. Our server, Lily, was SUPER. Great with suggestions, friendly, matched our pace perfectly (we were catching up and taking our time; she was going fast, but realized our pace and slowed down to match it. Super thoughtful.). Just exactly the server you would want in a place like this! Overall, the food was good, drinks were exotic, the night was crisp, and we had an amazing time. A great place to revisit for a special occasion, with Asian vibes/food rather than the traditions steak or Italian! Below are details on food for my next visit (and maybe a suggestion or two for the chef..) One night in Bangkok $18 It's a spicy cocktail, with a nice little kick as an aftertaste. Not overbearing. The cost probably includes the little dry ice show as it's being served - basically the server puts the drink down in a fancy platter and pours dry ice. It doesn't really do anything for the drink itself. Nice, but I can go without. From JFK to Tokyo With homemade syrup. On the sweeter side; not my cup of tea. Lakefront Hazy IPA Good old hazy IPA. Royal Flower Dumplings 4 pieces of purple dimsum, filled with a sweet nutty something. I don't think has meat. It looked pretty, but they were crammed together and sticking to one another. The other bowl had a nice bouquet of lettuce, which was supposed to be used to wrap the dumplings. The bouquet was also pretty, but nested together and it was difficult to take each leaf graciously. I don't think the lettuce complemented the dumping much and would have preferred to each it alone. Spicy Fatty Tuna Delicious! Chashu Bao Buns Each bun was printed with Room Service logo. The pork belly was very tender, the green onion salad (for lack of a better word) was on point, and the sauce was a perfect complement. Perfectly balanced bite! Hung Lay Short Rib I don't think this was meant to be a soup, but the sauce it came in was almost like it. It was very yummy, and calling out to the rice that came with the dish. They work well together. The short rib dish by itself is very flavorful (salty), so it really needs to have some rice to mediate. The meat itself is very, very tender, falling apart. On a personal note, I don't really like meats this tender, because it loses texture. But that's just me. Pad Kee Mao (Drunken noodles) This comes to a very high 2nd place in our search for the best Pad Kee Mao in the States. First place remains in LA. This one is the best in Milwaukee as far as I'm concerned. The chef used udon noodles for this dish. It was still good. I love udon noodles. But for a Pad Kee Mao, I think the regular flat nice noodles would have brought this dish more top notch. I see why they're trying to bring a twist to this dish, perhaps to try to make it special. But seriously, the flavors, the ingredients, were all so good that I think the dish will stand on its own with the normal version. Chicken Classic Pad Thai Another street-food dish that was trying to be more special by being wrapped around with a thin egg crepe. Make for a pretty presentation, but the flavors speak for themselves in this outstanding, basic pad Thai. They could have gone without the egg wrap, which mades the egg very thin. The traditional scrambled version would have tintilated my tongue more. Just a thought. It was still a top notch Pad Thai! read more

Dim lighting vibes, whole upstairs room for larger parties. There were three parties of 8+ people that could fit upstairs. Food came out pretty quickly and the small plates were fun and great to share. Royal dumplings were so pretty and unique. The fried chicken was really crispy and the crab Rangoon was also good. We go the spicy tuna tartare but flavor wise I think the nobu salmon one would have been more flavorful. Anyways the star of the show was the pad Thai. Honestly one of the closest options I've had in the U.S to some pad Thai I've had in Thailand. Will definitely be coming back for that monthly haha. Alright so we went for our wedding anniversary during the week. We had made a reservation for 7pm and we were running 15 minutes behind. I called and they said "we're actually slammed so this works out". The fact this place is slammed, and stayed slammed, until 10pm close during the week says something. The space is small and it is a tight fit all around. With that said, the decor and vibe is beautiful. I'm surprised to see such a place in Milwaukee, yet alone Bayview. (I enjoy the old days of Bayview more personally) We had a "taco" app and two curry dishes that were fantastic. The price point is a little up there for it, but for an anniversary it was perfect. Went to Room Service for our six year anniversary and engagement celebration. We made a reservation two weeks prior through their website. Walking in, the space and very beautiful and modern. There's a bar area and tables. You order through the QR code, however with a place like this, I would've preferred there was a paper menu. The NA cocktail I got was delicious and I wished that they listed all their drink options on the drink menu. My fiance was looking for whiskey but they didn't have it on the menu but saw the bottles at the bar. Overall the food was good but it didn't blow me away. We ended up getting a bunch of small plates and one entree so that we can try more things. I put in our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and engagement and I wished they had done something special to acknowledge that but not a big deal. But it does make the meal more special if it is acknowledged if asked when making the reservation. read more

I heard the hype and read the reviews and I visited Room Service with high expectations, but some reserved judgment. BF and I were surprised to get a reservation Valentine's week, although it was 5:30 or 9:30pm on a Wednesday, two weeks in advance. We were seated pretty promptly at a two top, right inside the door, after being asked if we preferred a booth/chair combo or a standard table. We lucked out with the booth that had a side and back and we could ignore the chair. Our server came quickly to ask about water preference - still, sparkling or Milwaukee's finest. I appreciate option 3, but we went for sparkling. I also ordered a cocktail from the specialty menu - One Night in Bangkok. I had no idea how special it was. It sounded like the most interesting combination of flavors and exotic, but it turned out to also be a table show as well. Fun and delicious, but you need to like spice - don't get this if you like sweet drinks. I found it complex and delicious and was delighted by the drama. The overall space is dimly lit and sophisticated - I get the sense they have made the best of the space, but the building itself is nothing special, kind of a big pseudo greenhouse room. They've gone with dark finishes, lux-looking fabrics, a massive mural behind the bar and mood lighting. The bathroom has cool murals as well (at least the one I visited of the two unisex). We ordered a few small plate items and one entree - the better to try multiple things. The lovely dumplings with the gold leaf were a must-try for me, since often dumplings are meat only. They are peanut forward, delicious and fun, and you wrap them in the lettuce for a complete bite and a textural mix. We also had the tuna tasting platter - a bit decadent feeling at 6 pieces for $32, but it was divine. You progress from least fatty to most and it's an experience you won't forget. BF ordered the Crab Rangoon. They were very good. I wouldn't say they stood out as exceptional. He also chose the Angry Lobster Roll and that was amazing. Great taste, great texture, very fresh, lovely overall experience. He also had the Chashu Bao Buns with braised pork belly and said they were wonderful. I'm not a meat eater, so I have to take his word for it, but they disappeared quickly. I ordered the Namya Pu, crab curry dish, and it was amazing. It was spicy and rich and creamy and luxurious. We were too full to finish it, but it was amazing on day two as well. The dish was crab forward, with visible lumps and great flavor. We didn't save room for desserts and no regrets. Our server, Joey, was very good. The hostess was lovely and made us feel very special with a comment she made. We felt transported by the evening, in a way we hadn't experienced since a trip to Paris. The hype is deserved. read more

We had gyoza (Osaka style, good filling), crab Rangoon (filling was sweet imo, but they were beautifully folded into little pastry crowns), and the mister had a beautiful house salad. A friend and I had dinner on Thursday night. We started with drinks from a somewhat small but interesting drink menu. I had a Phuket Number 3 which required instructions on how to mix the beans into the drink and companion had Last Train to Chiang Mai. We enjoyed our drinks. We decided to focus on small plates. We tried the Phuket Jor Pu which was very good. The Kinnickinnic crisp shells were flavorful and had a nice combination of textures. We're both sushi fans so we went with the Sakura Roll which was also good. Service was prompt with finished plates leaving the table almost as soon as the fork full hit our mouthes. Some friends and I finally snagged a reservation yesterday at Room Service. There has been so much hype, we were excited to try it. The restaurant is very well decorated and offers a great overall ambiance. The staff throughout the night were all kind and provided high quality service! All three of us opted for the "Last Train to Chiang Mai" which was one of the better cocktails I've had, would have loved it to be a larger serving! For the food we split, crab rangoons, crispy rice, beef pad Thai, Samurai Signature Set (hand rolls), and the Angry Lobster. All in all, the food was very good. I was expecting the crab rangoon to be the same as Rice n Roll, but they were slightly different. I actually think I prefer Rice n Rolls! And same goes for the crispy rice, The hand rolls were unique in their presentation and tasted overall good, but although not mentioned in the description, it seemed like most had wasabi in them, of which I'm not personally a fan. The pad Thai, and lobster roll were both great! All in all, you can't go wrong. The presentation is great and the food is high quality, and the service is good and quick! I do think Rice N Roll and Kin (same owners I believe?) are both of similar quality and both a little cheaper, and definitely easier to get into, so moving forward I may be more keen on going to one of those! read more

Went here for the first time and had the gyoza as a starter. They were so crunchy with their lattices still on. Mai had miso soup which she says is her favorite in town. We had the crispy nobu salmon and their beautiful lattices river prawn with fresh herb salad next and these were to die for. The salmon was crunchy, spicy, sweet and savory all at once and the river prawn was meaty and full and had perfect taste and seasoning. Last we shared a temaki set (basically little sushi tacos) and the pad Thai, which we ended up taking home as we were beyond full. Great service, cool ambience, and food that was amazing. The plush green chairs and benches and the dim lighting made it feel intimate and cool. We split a few dishes and were super impressed with the drunken noodles and KK crips shell tacos. The gyozas had a different presentation than I had seen before which was fun but I won't need to try them again. We loved our drinks too and both tried the last train to Chiang Mai. we had a great experience at Room Service! i was skeptical when i first walked in here. it seemed like a very trendy restaurant however wasn't sure how authentic. everything from the service to the food was excellent! pad thai- we think we had the best pad thai ever here... we have been chasing good pad thai since we got back from thailand and this definitely hit the spot! flower dumpling- this was good and i can see why this is a popular dish but tastes similar to the korean sesame dumplings which i love too! crispy tuna- a little too crunchy and hard to eat but still tasted goid brisket soup- it was good but not my top choice. wish i got double pad thai definitely a great date night spot! the restaurant is small and the seatings are a little close together. the waiters seem a little squished walking around. however they were so attentive and the service was wonderful. read more

The food was great! I went with a friend and shared a bunch of dishes and this is definitely the way to go. You must get the dumplings!! They are glittery deliciousness. I ordered a "last train to Chang Mai" cocktail and it was 10/10. Our server, Carli, was so sweet and gave great recommendations! Loved the mural and comfy chairs! So much attention to detail in every aspect-food, music, decor, drinks. Really a must try! read more

Wow, not even sure where to begin. Came here with a large party on a Thursday evening. Place was packed, but we had a room reserved upstairs, which was nice. This dinner was sponsored my a pharmaceutical company, for which a presentation was taking place. We had a set menu with about 6-7 appetizers, 3-4 entrees to choose from and 2-3 deserts. Everything was INCREDIBLY slow, nothing I've ever experienced. The dinner/presentation started at 6pm and the servers didn't take our entree order until 745pm. Didn't receive our entree until after 9pm. THREE hours after everyone was seated....not to mention- myself and multiple others got skipped over for multiple appetizers. I ended up having to take my entree and dessert home and sadly didn't enjoy either one. I ordered a short rib entree and cheesecake dessert- 0/10 recommend. I was so disappointed with everything involving this dinner and heard nothing but great reviews prior to coming, not sure what went wrong. read more
