    Spicy edamame and chicken gyoza
    Natalie R.

Being a huge sushi fan, I'm always on the lookout for solid sushi options in the area. Sushi Yushi was very highly rated so I had to give it a try. After reading how busy they are, we made reservations but found them to not be too busy upon our arrival though it filled up quickly as we sat there. We were greeted and quickly sat down at our table. The decor in Sushi Yushi was decorated for Valentine's Day & was adorable. Our server was perfect- from beginning to end, he was friendly, helpful and efficient, offering his help if we needed any guidance with the menu. We chose the spicy edamame, chicken gyoza, shrimp tempura, green mountain roll and the spicy tuna roll. The spicy edamame was a great alternative to our usual edamame, with great flavor and just the right amount of spice. The chicken gyoza was also delicious. I was very pleasantly surprised with the strong garlic and lemon flavors from the green mountain roll- never have I had such a flavorful sushi roll! I appreciated the smaller bites here but I felt all the rolls had a bit more rice than my favorite sushi place. A lovely surprise I appreciated & didn't expect was the small salad that was served between our appetizer and sushi - so tasty and perfectly balanced out our meal! Overall, it was a great experience and fun to try a new sushi place in the area. I wish there were more options without cream cheese, mayo or nori but if those are what you like in your sushi, then there are tons of options for you!

Came for the Wednesday special. Seemed like a great deal and the reviews for the sushi quality were already great on here. Everything was soooo good. House made salad, fresh miso soup, crispy tempura, and everything else was yummy. Sat at the bar and was recommended a wine based on what I like. The staff was really welcoming and the service was quick too. Had some nice decor, not too much with good seating as well. Will definitely be coming back to try all their specialty rolls.

One of THE best sushi spots in MKE! We were greeted promptly & sat at a table in the modern, open dining area. I don't recall the name of my drink but it was delicious! Just as pretty to look at. I ordered the Blooming Flower Roll as well as the Volcano Roll. Both rolls had a fresh, clean flavor. Loved the cilantro in both! The meal came with a salad that had THE most delicious sesame dressing! I could have eaten 3 more bowls!!! I ended the meal with green tea mochi. Perfect palate cleanser & end to a delicious meal. Can't wait to go back!

Probably the best quality sushi in Bay View but you're going to pay a little extra for that quality but I think it's worth it. We had the veggie tempura and three various rolls. Loved the tempura with huge pieces of broccoli and other veggies. Service was friendly and we got our food relatively quick. The rolls were so fresh I couldn't believe the quality I was tasting in the Midwest!

Ordered to go from Sushi Yuki for my first time visiting and it did not disappoint! Pick up was very efficient and took about 20 minutes to have ready. I tried their Philadelphia roll and sweet potato roll both of which were delicious and very fresh tasting . The miso soup is very simple, but also had very good flavor. Definitely plan to come back soon so I can try additional menu items! Would also recommend trying Sushi Yuki

There's a reason this place has so many high ratings! Literally obsessed and will be coming back again. It's Family-owned, incredibly warm, and the service is truly top tier. I'm talking attentive, kind, and fun without ever feeling overbearing! The fish was fresh and so well prepared. I had the scallop nigiri and smoked salmon nigiri (3 pieces per order which I loved), and everything was perfect. They were super accommodating with food allergies and even included a complimentary salad that was light and fresh. My friends loved their rolls and the karaage chicken. Easily a 10/10 and a must-visit.

Had a lovely evening at Sushi Yuki. Went there for my friend's birthday and the service was outstanding! Our server, Sae, was the sweetest! We laughed and had so much fun. The food was really tasty and the complimentary mango mochi ice cream dessert was the perfect ending to the meal. It's the decorated so beautifully inside with gorgeous pottery you eat out of. Love it!

This place is just adorable! I love how beautifully decorated it was for the holidays, and all the waitresses were dressed up with fun holiday hats on. Our servers were so cheery and genuine, and so so nice. For our dinner, we ordered the fried pork gyoza as an app, which were super good. As my main, I had the orange county roll which was a little dense, but still very delicious. My friend had the chicken teriyaki, which I stole several bites from. I am looking forward to visiting here again soon, my experience was wonderful!!

Such a special place for all special occasions! We instantly felt welcomed and at home here. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted and gave our names for our reservation. We went early evening on a Friday, and reservations were recommended. It wasn't overly busy and felt very relaxing inside. The inside is beautiful and the entire staff was kind and welcoming. Sae is seriously THE best at her job! We had so much fun with her the entire visit and would've loved to just have her join us. She gave incredible recommendations and made us feel like part of the family. She shows so much pride is working there and truly represented the restaurant with ownership and know-how. As for the sushi, hands down in the top of any I've ever had, and trust me this body was made by sushi . And even better, the incredible price point. I was shocked at how fresh, flavorful, and quality the food was for comparable prices to other sushi places that are barely passable. We ordered the salmon cheek as an appetizer; this was beautifully cooked to perfection and a rare site for a menu. A true mark of a professional kitchen of this cuisine using the whole fish in this way. They truly honored the salmon and all it's worth. I ordered the salmon set, and my spouse a house roll and the blooming flower roll. Everything was served promptly and correctly. Our drinks were beautifully made, fresh, and unique. Plus their house sauce/dressing? Simply divine. We're so glad we were gifted a visit here, and we can't wait to make it a regular date night here.

@sushiyukibay took over my heart last night. No exaggeration. Service: Our server Sae was one of the sweetest, most bubbly servers I have EVER had. She was so knowledgeable, very attentive, always smiling. Hands down one of my favorite servers I have ever had. Ambiance: Modern, Japanese style with amazing Japanese acoustic music that I was vibin to! Very open, very clean. The sushi bar was beautiful. I was sad that it was so empty on a Saturday night, although the packers were playing the bears later that evening so maybe that is why?! Drinks: I got the Yuki Sour, which was delicious. Super sour, which is my favorite. My husband got a dirty martini, which he enjoyed! He also tried the old fashioned, it was a little too sweet for him. Food: We started with the shrimp tempura, which was lightly fried and absolutely delicious. The chicken gyoza were so fresh tasting, perfectly fried and that dipping sauce was perfection. We tried one of their special rolls, I believe it was called The Imperial Roll or something... anyways, it was to die for. One of our favorites of the night, especially with the raw salmon on top. That salmon was like butter in my mouth. The other rolls we ordered--The Blooming Flower (super fresh, light lemon), Green Sky (the most crazy, insane flavor profile with lemon, garlic, cilantro... OUR FAVORITE), Crazy Winter Roll (also delicious, but heavier because it was lightly fried), and then the basic crunchy California roll, which exceeded my expectations. We also got some nigiri, literally tasted like they caught the fish in the back. That salad dressing that came on the salad was unreal, like I could drink gallons. They make the dressing in-house and you can purchase 8oz to take home! Can y'all tell I love this place? Highly recommend!!

My friend and I had reservations at 4:30 right when they opened, we were greeted immediately and sat down promptly. Service was great -- our server Cam was attentive and fun to banter with. Ambience was nice and the noise level was loud enough to be bustling but quiet enough you could enjoy a conversation. We ordered the seaweed salad, ika salad, and four sushi rolls. All were delicious and tasted very different from each other. We were surprised at how much you could taste the char from the Anniversary roll, it was a unique experience. Would definitely come back here and have already told quite a few friends to go check it out!

I ordered the chefs special roll and it was so damn good. Roasted tuna and so many other things-- I can't remember bc I'm slightly wasted. (I ordered the melon sour (yum))

I want to preface this review by saying that I have a go-to sushi place that I go to on a near weekly basis that I think is as good as it gets in terms of ambiance, quality, service and price. So, when I go to any other sushi restaurant, I compare it to this standard. Sushi Yuki was good but I think they are still getting their feet underneath them as a new restaurant. I'm looking forward to going back in a few months or so as I think it'll be better than what I had on this visit. The pros: I loved the space and ambiance. Really well done for a new restaurant. I was driving this night and so I didn't have a drink but the drink menu looks fantastic and I can't wait to try it. Service was good and attentive. As far as the food goes, I was a bit underwhelmed. Me, my fiancee and my daughter (age 9) ordered four rolls while my son and mother-in-law ordered shrimp teriyaki and chicken teriyaki respectively. The sushi order was in the picture attached to my review. My first thought when it came to the table is that we were missing one of the four rolls but we were assured there were three on the plate. In terms of quality, I think the biggest issue was that the flavors were very similar across all rolls despite the descriptions being very different. Four rolls was not enough for two adults and a child and so we ordered a fifth roll (crazy winter) and it, too, was underwhelming. I tried both teriyakis and the flavor was pretty one note and the veggies seemed like maybe they weren't fresh. Both of the people that ordered the teriyakis liked them though. Also, my daughter liked the sushi and so I think this is a good place to come with kids and the definitely felt welcome.

Everything we had was delicious, expertly prepared, and had such cool presentation. We went for an anniversary and it was the perfect restaurant environment and very intimate. The server also included 2 complimentary glasses of champagne, which was such a nice touch. For starters, we had the gorgeous appearing Royal Flower Dumplings served with lettuce, the Spicy Fatty Tuna TatTar on crispy rice, and the pork belly Bao buns. My favorite item from the entire night was tuna TarTar, it was perfectly spicy and tasted so fresh, I highly recommend. I also think that the dumplings had such a wonderful presentation and were an experience, but probably would order a different appetizer next time since I have had them once. For our main dish, the drunken noodles were a must! The thick noodles were delicious and cooked to perfection. We also had Room Service Supreme Hand Rolls set (including spicy toro jalapeño, Saba, Yellowtail scallion, Ama Abi, and Salmon topped ikura) that filled us right up. For drinks, I had to order the One Night in Bangkok signature cocktail with such a fun lemongrass aromatic cloud (so cool and fun!), the berry-cation, and the Thai Godness. All were delicious and would order again! For dessert, we wanted to try something new and picked the Thai Tea Binsu. I am glad we tried it and it was yummy, but will probably go for their cheesecake next time. Overall, we had a 10/10 experience here!

Fucking love this place…read more If there is a highly rated small plates place in a location we are visiting, you can count on us to find it. We walked literally thirty minutes to this place from our hotel. It was a lovely walk in early August. We had a 5:45pm reservation on a Thursday (we are old now) and we were seated immediately. Service was excellent. Ok so they have a fantastic cocktail menu. I appreciate any cocktail menu that is more complex than vodka and cranberry juice but this takes it to another level of creativity. I also like how they name them with numbers. It's so much easier to say "I'll have a 42" rather than "I will have a duperbeamerscicle". I started with an "88" with pisco, rose-poached strawberry, amontillado sherry, verjus, rose port, and pink peppercorn. Served in a highball glass and garnished with berries. Very refreshing. GF started with the "91" mezcal, passion fruit, poblano, pineapple, amaro, lime. Gorgeous and chic. Very strong, smoky flavor. When in Rome, so the cheese plate did not feel like an option. Four fantastic cheeses were served with very tasty candied nuts, some jam business, grapes, and some of the best bread I have had on a cheese plate. Thick, soft, and fluffy. Paired absolutely perfectly with cheese. Only complaint is that I wish there was more of it. I haven't had deviled eggs in a minute so I went wild and also had the chili crisp deviled eggs which were SPECTACULAR. I also got the Egyptian fried cauliflower which is served on a smear of harissa and lemon tahini. Very flavorful. Star of the show tbh was the tagliatelle with squash, tomato, these fried cheese crisps. The noodles were al dente and SO GOOD in such a wonderful sauce. GF also got the steak, she says "very good seasoning". I helped her out with the kimchi pancake. Wonderful. Such a great sauce. For our second round of dranks we both went with the "77" makrut lime vodka, tamarind, bird's eye chili, cilantro, lime, lemongrass. Very tamarind forward. Very unique. I can see why it's our server's favorite drink on the menu. The desserts looked really good (something with sticky rice I think it was a cocktail and a bread budding that looked fantastic) but we just weren't feeling it.

The deviled eggs were easily our favorite and are an absolute must-order. We also loved the flatbread with fiddleheads, which featured a delicious curry-inspired flavor that reminded us of an Indian dish. My husband couldn't stop talking about the bread pudding and said it was one of the best desserts he's had. Everything we tried was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. If we lived in Milwaukee, Odd Duck would absolutely become one of our regular spots. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in town.

The duck was juicy and cut into thick pieces, so it was more of a steak rather than a bao style that I am used to. Nevertheless, it was delicious and even warmed up well the next day. The green onion wraps were...strange in my opinion. They fell apart easily and didn't have the best flavor that complemented the duck. Once the chefs get started (there's two, one per 5 guests), it's so neat to watch them work and create each piece or dish for you. I honestly can't even go into detail about each course of the 14-course experience, it's so intricate and an explosion of flavors and textures, you simply have to experience it for yourself :). What I will say is it's well worth the cost and top-notch food. We will look forward to going back again some day!

La Merenda was on my list of places to check out and I finally had the chance! I made reservations…read moreat 7pm and was quickly seated, or server Inga was very patient and made a few suggestions for us as well. We started with the pink Guava Paloma and the Schilling Local Legends for our drinks. The Pink Guava Paloma tasting amazing and was strong. You were really able to taste the tequila but it wasn't un-drinkable. The Guava was a great blend with the drink and my friend wished he had gotten the same drink because of how good it tasted. The menu was divided up into three different sections; Field, Sea, and Pasture. They also had specials, as well. We tried to get a few items from each section to try different dishes. In the Field section, we tried the Truffle Potato Skins (WI). The potatoes skins were PILED onto the plate. They were more soft than crunchy but tasted amazing. I wasn't really able to taste the truffle but it was still good. In the Sea section, we tried the Sambal Goreng Udang (Indonesia). An Indonesian dish with white shrimp, sambal chili paste, mash potatoes, and coconut milk. Honestly, this was my favorite dish. It was creamy and the mashed potatoes paired so well with the sauce and the shrimp. It had a hint of spice, which elevated the experience for me personally, as I love spicy food. In the Pasture section, we tried the Beef Empanadas (Columbia) and Vietnamese Pork Belly Crepes (Vietnam). The Beef Empanadas came with four pieces and some green sauce. The outside was crunchy and not over fried, the inside was perfectly filled and moist. Would highly recommend it as it was amazing. The Vietnamese Pork Belly Crepes were a little disappointing. I was expecting them to come out like the traditional Vietnamese crepes, crispy outside with the pork belly and other fillings on the inside. Instead it was like an actual crepe mix. It was soft and honestly okay. It wasn't our favorite. As for the specials they were offering, we tried the Pork Tenderloin. The Pork Tenderloin was pretty good, not super dry. It was served on top of potatoes and tasted amazing. La Merenda has a very cozy atmosphere. Low lights and overall just a chill and quaint spot. I will definitely come back for more of the Sambal Goreng Udang and to try out some of their other plates!

La Merenda is a great tapas restaurant. We had an awesome experience and our waiter was great. They…read morehad the coolest fish earrings on. Let me tell you everything we got. We got the truffle Potato Skins it was more like chips but softer than chips with a truffle oil and parm. This didn't have a super truffle flavor in my opinion but still good. The ceviche which was my favorite had ahi tuna, coconut milk, red bell peppers, and diced pineapple I love the sweet aspect of this. We also got the empanadas and mushroom tostadas both were great. The Gnocchi d'Autunno we got was like a nice hug it was such a warm dish in the way you want a warm comfort meal on a cold day. The butter chicken and Argentina style beef we also tried I liked the butter chicken more just because I wish the beef had more chimichurri. I definitely will take friends in the future. There is a dish for everyone here.
