Like many others, we were so excited to finally get to try 1033 omakase and the experience was definitely worth the wait! Our reservation was at 5 pm and we got there a bit early, which I recommend! You can grab a cocktail while you wait for the chefs to be ready for you to be seated. Each course was absolutely delicious and unique, and the servers were beyond kind, attentive, and helpful. Our server recommended the Japanese cold noodle cocktail and it was so tasty and refreshing. I definitely recommend it!! I'm increasingly concerned that the reservation system at 1033 Omakase is being gamed. This is the second month in a row that I waited patiently for reservations to open, only to see availability disappear immediately. Either automated software is being used to grab all of the reservations, or 1033 Omakase is intentionally closing off availability as soon as it opens. Either way, the experience is extremely frustrating and demoralizing for guests who are trying to book fairly. I hope 1033 Omakase takes this seriously and addresses the issue, because the current process creates a very poor impression and is damaging to the restaurant's reputation. read more

The ambiance of 1033 is incredible, the small dining space and intimate setting is what makes this so special. The chefs do an amazing job at explaining each dish and engaging the guests. You can tell the food is extremely high quality. I loved lots of the dishes but was bummed by how many (probably over half) included wasabi. Just personally not a big wasabi fan and it's such an overwhelming flavor that it ruined about half the dishes for me, Overall, definitely a fun spot to try! I had the absolute pleasure of somehow snagging a reservation at 1033 Omakase and let me tell you, IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! This has to be the most exclusive restaurant in Milwaukee at the moment, and for good reason. It's damn near impossible to get in, I've been on the waitlist for every day through January and haven't gotten another since I happened to stumble upon the site just as someone canceled. I visited this restaurant on a Tuesday night, which is their slightly smaller 'The Classic' 10 course tasting menu for $79. After adding on some Sake, and a couple extra pieces at the end, the bill was closer to $170 but completely worth the experience. The restaurant is very discreet, nestled in what appears to be an apartment complex in Walker's Point, you could easily walk past it and miss it completely. They have three dinner rotations a night, that each last about an hour, so you are promptly in and out! I arrived a little early and they had a couple stools by the windows you could sit at and order a drink. I've always been hesitant of drinking sake, but the waitress was very sweet and informative and gave me several tasters to compare different types. I ended up really enjoying a sweeter unfiltered variation and had that with my meal. When it was our turn to dine, we were sat at one of the 10 stools at the chef's table. There were two chefs, each serving 5 people. It was so cool to watch them prepare each piece of sushi, set it in front of you, and then grab everyone's attention to explain it before you tried the piece. The atmosphere was quiet and we were all dialed in, but the cozy and vibey space made it feel laid back. It was just such an immersive experience and it made you feel very lucky to be eating there! The Sushi itself was AMAZING. Like each piece was better than the last. One of my favorite dining experiences I've ever had! This place is a hot commodity. When the reservations come out (~2 months in advance), they go quickly!! You can also sign up to notify you if someone cancels which we luckily were able to get. And on my birthday! It's a very small place with ~10 people per reservation slot which makes for an intimate experience. All the seats surround the chef making each plate which was a fun experience to watch, and then explains each dish as he serves it. Every day except Tuesdays is a 14 course meal, on Tuesday is a 10 course meal. Every dish was carefully and thoughtfully created with an incredible palate. He said they change the menu often so even if you were to dine again, the menu changes seasonally or based on whats available. "The art of dining" shown brightly on the wall in color change leds and no statement could have been a truer representation of the experience I had last night. Dining experiences don't often leave me speechless but the hospitality and artsy on display at 1033 Omakase left me gasping for words. First of all, plan far in advance of your desired date. Reservations open up early and fill up quickly. I was lucky enough that my gf is a planner and arranged this so closely to my bday. We got there a little early and were greeted by the friendly host. We waited as they reset the intimate space for our seating. We were shown our seats and what followed was 14 exquisite examples of sushi. Incredible ingredients were blended with precision technique to create a warm reverential dining experience. The chef watched as the patrons enjoyed his creations, confident he utilized the perfect ratios of the finest ingredients. Fish so tender it's as if it was butter melting in your mouth. Caviar, urchin, wagyu and black truffles all followed, either taking the leading role or in support of something more magical. I'm not going to attached a bunch of pictures because you should go in with an open mind. Just expect to be awed and inspired by what food and experiences can be. It's hard to get a reservation here, but stay on top of it if you want to come, it was very worth it. The restaurant seats 10 people for the tasting menu. We had 14 courses which included 1 salad, several tuna, salmon, black cod, sea urchin, jack, wagyu, etc (1 piece per course). Everything was fantastic! The black cod was one of my favorite things I've ever eaten. We loved the intimate experience, we loved the food and drinks and I would love to come back again for a new experience. read more

Incredible experience at my first visit to 1033 Omakase. They served the Classic tasting menu last night with 10 courses. Each course is bite-sized, but you could take 2 small bites, I just think that gets tricky as it could come apart, so just eat as one bite, but savor it. Their typical tasting menu, served most nights, is their 14 course Supreme tasting menu. I'm doing that on my next visit. The space is beautiful, very upscale and classy! It seats 10 people at the Omakase bar, which explains the long waits to get a reservation, but there are seats along the walls where guests can lounge with a drink while they wait to be seated. It was a fun experience to watch the chef prepare each course, and each chef prepared 5 servings, for the 5 guests at their half of the bar. I ordered a sake flight, with recommendations from Alex. The Rising Dragon and Soul of Sensei were my favorite of the three in my flight, but the Blue Hue grew on me after I sipped following a bite of the dishes. All three ended up pairing well with the courses. Service from Alex and Rose was excellent, and I highly recommend the experience. I think the Classic menu is ideal for smaller to average appetites. By far the best sushi I have had in Milwaukee. I would maybe snack before if you are starving, because even though there are 14 courses, they are 1 to 2 bites each for the most part. Very delicious, and fresh. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming and personable, and I adored the music. I agree with the points. Someone else made about it being hard to hear the chefs describe what is in each course, and I think I would rather have more written on the menu than sacrifice the vibe of 90s hip-hop and rap. I also agree that the set up is not ideal, with they're not being a vestibule but even I am extremely cold night with temperatures and negative digits, a person coming in didn't send a wave of cold area, so it works. read more

AMBIANCE: When you walk in, you'll find a low lit room with 10 chairs surrounding the chef's station. Everything is already set for you. Ours was 14 pieces (including the ice cream at the finish). Each one was outstanding. Really good fish, but what stood out the most was the flavors. Different, creative, balanced. It's clear Chef Ray knows what he's doing and has been so thoughtful with what he's putting together. Pacing was good. Drinks were creative and delicious. Favorites: Egg custard (so smooth), black cod (hearty, umami), yellowtail (bright and fresh). ENVIRONMENT: Small and intimate. Seats only around the sushi counter, perfect so you can see each dish prepared. Seating around the walls to provide waiting areas between seating. Coat hooks on the walls - loved this as it kept costs away from crowding any seating during dinner. 90s hip hop playing all night (great nostalgia). SERVICE: Friendly and attentive. To start off, the only reason it's not five stars is that we couldn't order more sushi a la carte, after the omakase. It's not only great it's fun. The chef, Ray, prepares the plates beautifully and creatively without overdoing it, maybe a little, but that's the fun part. Easily some of the best sushi I've ever had in Milwaukee, fresh, interesting, unique. We will be eating here many times to come, maybe hopefully lunch someday read more

Let me start by saying I am not a sushi snob. I LOVE sushi and I've eaten at many different places, including in Japan. Omekase is expensive- you're paying for the quality of the food, but also the experience. 1033 is nice, but the vibe is just a bit off. The space itself doesn't lend itself to a cozy, high-end experience. The bathroom is out in the hall and it feels like the hallway bathroom in an office building. The music is great- love that part- but you can't hear what the chef is saying when he's describing your food. The front door leads to a busy street and there's a curtain that blocks the door when people open it, but this set up made the place seem kinda cheap/cheesy. No "fancy" restaurant in a larger city would have this work-around. The food was good, but nothing that blew my mind and would make me come back. In my opinion, this is far overpriced for what you are getting. read more
