Suwanee Chicken & Pizza is a restaurant that sells Korean fried chicken and pizza, often as a combination. Both of these dishes are a popular duo in South Korea and it has established a presence in the USA. This spot is rather tiny; we had to share a table with another group who left after getting their takeout order. The service was friendly and quick. We got the Crispy Fried Chicken and Pizza combination. The food came out piping out. The fried chicken was crispy, although I wish it had more breading, some seasoning, and more juiciness in the meat. Since we ordered the plain fried chicken, the other flavors might have provided more depth. The pizza we chose was the Super Supreme Pizza which was really good. I have been skeptical about Korean pizza as I have heard it can be really sweet. While this pizza tasted sweeter than American pizza, it was not overly sweet and it paired well with the Italian sausage and vegetables. Overall, I think this is a nice casual spot to go to with friends. I would argue that their pizza tastes better than their fried chicken just based off of my one experience. Look no further. THIS is the Korean fried chicken place. I've been going here for 5+ years. When I have people come from out of town or ask for kfc recommendations, I rave about this place. I have yet to find anyone who does not like it. The sauce on the chicken has me in a chokehold. I love love love the sauce. I always order the sweet garlic sauce wings - Fire. The spice is a little inconsistent but the sauce is always so good. The cabbage salad, pickled radish, and pickled jalapeño perfectly complements the chicken. This is one of those mom and pop gems. The woman who took our order is always there and is as sweet as can be. Always so friendly and sweet. I can go on and on but, all you need to know is this place is amazing. My friend invited us here. The service was quick and the staff was very professional and nice. The place is small and clean. The sweet potato pizza was really good. If you like sweet potatoes give it a try. The coleslaw was good a good balance of sweet and savory. Nothing special, but good. My favorite was the fried chicken!!! The food, the vibe, and the hospitality were all authentic in every possible way with this place. In fact, merely writing that sentence just activated major salivation and I have no control over it. This unassuming hole in the wall served up the best fried chicken I've had in years, the sweet potato pizza was eye-poppingly delicious, and their wings made me reconsider my previous indifference to anything other than a whole chicken. We got the 14" sweet potato pizza with the sweet potato mousse in the crust and half crispy fried and half sweet garlic chicken. For 3, this was more than enough food. The sweet potato pizza was incredible! The crust was slightly doughy and soft. I love the sauce on it and the mozzarella was just the right amount. Not sure I'd get it with the sweet potato mousse again, but I would come back for the regular sweet potato pizza. The fried chicken was decent but I've had better. The chicken was moist and lightly fried but not very well seasoned. The sweet garlic was slightly better. I have been meaning to write a review for this place for over a year now...unfortunately, I would have given them 4 stars, but not after seeing this "trend". Don't order popcorn chicken from them after the lunch and dinner rush, especially on a Sunday or weekday. They reuse chicken that they had fried and refried. So some of the chicken pieces are so dry and hard, it's almost inedible. If you order during lunch and dinner, you'll get delicious fresh perfect little bites, though. I have eaten here a couple times now. The food is always good but the service is not that great. During my first visit, I had a younger server around college or high school age. She took my order quickly, but drinks are in single serving cans. I went through the first one mostly while waiting for the food, but she was too busy behind the counter on her phone to notice I was trying to wave at her for another drink. I didn't want to be rude and get up for one so I just waited for her to look up when another customer came in. It was a little busier on my second visit. Had an older server that seemed to be working by herself, but even though she was walking around a bit, it still took several attempts to get her attention for more drinks as she didn't stop by to check on me. If they are not going to go around and check on customers while they are dining, maybe they just bring several of the single-serving drinks to the table and only charge for the cans that are opened. There are people constantly smoking right outside the doors, this was banned in Gwinnett 20 years ago, but no one stops them and the required signs are not posted. On my third visit, I arrived just before 9:30, but I was told they were only open for takeout even though other tables were full of people eating and the sign on the door said they were open until 10 pm. There are similar businesses in the area that serve the same food with better service, I'll be going to the others in the future. read more

I was in the mood for pizza and since I heard a lot about the Sweet Potato Pizza here, I knew I had to try it. When I called to make an order, the person who answered stressed to get the Sweet Potato Stuffed Crust Pizza (aka the "premium" one). And when I walked in to pick up the 14" pizza, the same person who answered my call earlier claimed again how Sweet Potato Stuffed Crust Pizza was great because their crust had sweet potato filling. I was excited to try it since this person couldn't stop raving about the "premium" pizza. Unfortunately, it was less than average. The overall pizza was bland and carb-heavy. As for the "premium" crust, it was basically mashed sweet potatoes lacking salt. It was so heavy that we had to remove the mashed sweet potatoes before eating the crust. I love sweet potato pizza (the first thing I'll eat whenever I go to Korea), so I was thrilled to hear this place had it! I was even happier when it was actually really delicious as a lot of the places in the states didn't do such a great job. Sweet potato pizza has sweet potato pieces on the pizza as well as sweet potato spread in the crust. Pizza also has other toppings (onions, ham, corn, olives, etc.) so it was very flavorful and complements the sweet potatoes well. Their sweet and spicy wings are exactly like the traditional sweet and spicy wings in Korea way back when. Perfect amount of sweet and it's not spicy at all; it just has a little kick to it (believe me, I can't eat spicy so I would know when things are spicy). read more

FYI, would've probably rated this a 3.5 if I could. This place satisfies my craving if I want some Korean pizza and chicken. I've only ever ordered the sweet garlic chicken wings and sweet potato pizza. (Usually I get the combo with 10" pizza, $19.99). This is more than enough for 2 people, btw. I think it will feed 3-4 depending on how hungry you are. The sweet garlic sauce wings were good, but I do agree with other yelpers that it is drenched it a bit too much sauce. The pizza can be good if the potatoes are sweet. If they're not, there's not really much flavor I feel like. It's just OK. Service: Decent, they don't really speak much English so as long as you get what you need then you're ok I guess. Don't expect this to be a 5 star restaurant lol. It's very fast-food like. You go in, you order, you get your food, you eat, you leave. Or you can just get it to-go. Interior: Small, it can get crowded quickly since there aren't many tables available. I think most people just get their food to-go instead of staying there to eat. Not bad, but not excellent. Worth a try if you're in the area and pricing is pretty reasonable for what you get. This was our first time trying Korean pizza. Knowing how lovely korean buns and breads are, this pizza crust was similarly light and airy with a slight chewiness. We ordered the 10-inch Korean Steak Pizza and the 10-inch Sweet Potato Pizza with sweet potato mousse in the crust as an upgrade. The kids and adults all love the Steak Pizza. It was like a normal pizza. The meat had a sweetness to it like bulgogi meat. It was good. Kids will probably ask for that one again. The sweet potato pizza with the mousse in the crust was so different. Sweet. Salty. Chewy. Creamy. I enjoyed it. It had little corn niblets on it too...which made it even sweeter (but not like a sugar sweet). If you like the Korean sweet potatoes, which are the smaller purple ones, you will love this flavor. It was really rich and decadent, so 1-2 slices was more than enough. I would order again, but stick with the small size pizza since it's so rich. read more

I am no expert on Korean Chicken, have sampled it only a few times in NY City and Portland, OR. I didn't realize this place offered Korean Chicken in Suwanee. Storefront restaurant in a nice Korean Shopping plaza (ASSI) service was friendly and helpful! Everything is made to order, so stroll over to the big ASSI market to browse a big selection of great Asian and even some Eastern European foods. The chicken was delicious! Really great spot! They offer complementary peanuts and side dishes along with your chicken and/or pizza! The atmosphere is great and the people are very kind. Our main reason for choosing this location for Korean style pizza and fried chicken was because of the location. We had not ventured this far North out of Duluth, and I did not even know that there was another massive Assi plaza in Suwannee. The map is not correct when mapping to this location, so be careful. The overall feeling of Cho-gat-jip reminds me of a Pizza Hut from the 80's. The décor and menus are very commercial because they have 1,200 franchise locations worldwide. http://www.cheogajip.co.kr Of course, we had to try the Korean style "peecha." Which had corn, all kinds of other stuff, and then sweet potato mouse rolled inside the outside crust. The overall flavor was not as sweet as I was expecting, which is good. I recommend getting the chicken plain and getting the sauces on the side, just in case. They don't just serve wings, but also have whole fried chicken, which is best served with an ice cold pitcher of beer. So, you can treat this place as a Hof or as a family pizza place. i looooove suwanee chicken and pizza. i live right next to the assi market, so whenever my mom and i are craving good korean chicken and pizza, this is our go to spot. i usually get half soy garlic teriyaki and half plain popcorn chicken and sweet potato pizza. my advice is if you like the sweet garlic sauce, order plain chicken and get the sauce in a separate container (that's how my mom likes it). plain chicken is also good with just a dash of salt. the complimentary radish and lettuce salad always hits the spot. any leftover chicken is even better the next day served with white rice. the service is not amazing; they don't tend to check on you or talk at all, but thats the way i like it. come in, order food, eat, and leave. im not too much of a picky eater, so suwanee chicken satisfies my (admittedly, cheap) palate. if you're look for a more high-end korean chicken place, though, try bb.q chicken. although more pricey, the chicken is better and the menu has a variety of korean dishes. read more

I live in Charlotte, NC so I've only been here twice. I've tried their Korean Steak Pizza and the Potato Pizza the first time a year ago and they were really good. I also tried two of the chicken flavors but can't recall what they were. (Spicy levels I mean) The second time I came here was this past Sunday for lunch it's my boyfriend and friend. I think we might've been their first dine in customers of the day since the place was empty. This time around, we tried out the sweet potato pizza and the sweet garlic chicken. Shut up! Potato Pizza? Yea man, it's a thing, and it's a GOOD thing! Me and a few friends hit up Suwanee Chicken & Pizza, a Korean owned restaurant to see if it lived up to the name "My Favorite Suwanee Chicken & Pizza". We decided on their house special chicken and pizza combo, which includes any pizza and a fried whole chicken, which is chopped up into smaller pieces and fried, for $21.99 (10" pizza) or $24.99 (14" pizza). We also ordered an additional fried chicken (individually they're $13.99), and both mild and sweet/spicy sauces. The potato pizza has potato finely sliced and placed on the pizza, with tons of cheese and it has, what I thought was a salad dressing type topping, but someone else said it better that it tasted like a sweet Mayonnaise base, which is nothing i'd ever tried before. It was more of a pan style pizza, really soft, and really GOOD pizza, that serves 8 slices. I'm definitely coming back for it (and their Sweet potato pizza too!). The fried chicken was pretty crispy, and there was a lot of it, but you (or I) needed the sauce with it, because the chicken itself wasn't really seasoned, and I do prefer at least a dash more salt than what (if any) was on the chicken. The mild/sweet sauce was really sweet and is pretty safe for anyone not into spicy. While the sweet/spicy had a little kick, if you're not into spicy, you may have trouble with it. I thought they both tasted great though. Suwanee Chicken & Pizza, is much more spacious than it looks on the outside (comfortably seating 7 of us), and located just to the Left of Assi shopping center, so parking is not an issue here, and getting in/out isn't an issue either. Customer service is just fine, although it makes ordering go much more smoothly if you have someone in your group that speaks Korean, although you shouldn't have any problems ordering if you don't. I can't speak more highly for the pizza, and for the price, you get a ton of food that can/will fill up a gang of hungry people. I'm a fan! read more

Disclaimer: I was unfairly full from eating prior to dining here which may have affected my ability to properly enjoy the food here. Regardless, I sampled many of the food and here is my review on my experience. The restaurant is very plain looking and looks more like a fast food type place. The pizza seemed like a strange menu item for a Korean restaurant, and there was nothing special in particular about it. One of the ones we tried was basically a supreme pizza that you can order anywhere. The other was a yellow sweet potato pizza which was not particularly appetizing. The fried chicken was ok, but not great enough to make me want to drive all the way back for more. One interesting tidbit that I learned is that in Korea, you can only order chicken in halves or whole. It's not like at KFC where you order a 2-piece wing and thigh or a 4-piece dark or white meat. read more

I have to tell you, when it comes to Korean style fried chicken, I am a pretty tough critic. Hard to be totally pleased by any of the places here in Georgia as the chicken places in Korea are tough to beat. My Favorite Chicken Cheogajip does a good job in satisfying my korean chicken cravings, although not a perfect job. Apparently, they cut their chickens up from whole chickens every day to serve customers which I found to be quite noteworthy. I'm a big fan of Kyochon chicken in Korea, so while I haven't found any place quite like that here in the USA yet (price, flavor, or ease of eating), My Favorite Chicken Cheogajip does the closest job for me. The owners are really friendly, parking is easy, and the prices are reasonable. Some of the other things that I like about this place : 1 : good korean style pizza and chicken. 2 : Korean TV show makes the ambiance feel more Korea, though I wish they would occasionally play sports or something other than just Korean shows to attract more non-natives to come in and hang out. Also, just a suggestion, but instead of having sound from the TV, maybe mute the TV and just have subtitles, and add a music soundtrack to the store? I think that would make the environment more welcoming and hip. 3 : Menu is clear and simple. Pictures and prices. Take out menu was a plus. 4 : Point cards are available good for free chickens. Buy 10 get 1 Free i think is how it works. 5 : The inside area is spacious and comfortable for groups to come and just chill out to some chicken and brews, but I feel a few negative points discourage a feel easy, just come and relax and enjoy Korean style chicken type of feel. A few points I feel need adjustment : 1 : Sodas are served in cans. This made me feel that the drinks were not endless bottom sodas. I prefer fountain style drinks if possible. 2 : Chicken wings are not exclusively available. I am sort of a chicken wing nut myself, and occasionally, I just feel like wings, not the whole chicken as it's easier to eat imho. I wonder if they might be able to add that option to their menu? 3 : No music? I feel some music might add to a more welcoming flavor to the spot. The decor and feel of the place is definitely nice and welcoming. I feel if some minor adjustments were made, I would come to this place more often. I hope the business continues to succeed as the owners seem like such nice people. We ordered the sweet and spicy garlic whole chicken and the fried popcorn chicken. Both were really good, the spiciness wasn't overwhelming and was well balanced with the sweetness. The fried popcorn chicken was okay, they should offer some kind of dipping saice to go along with it. Overall great experience. Maybe one of the better korean chicken places around. It's hard to get the flavor just right but I think they are pretty close. We ordered fried whole chicken with mild spice flavor and an order of plain popcorn chicken. Both were great. The popcorn chicken is much bigger than your average popcorn chicken but that's not a bad thing. Very moist and well fried. A little bland but they give you salt to sprinkle or dip the chicken with. The saucer fried chicken was pretty good as well. The sauce wasn't overly spicy but you still got a kick at the end. A little salty but not too bad. The side salad was very fresh and crispy and the radish had a very sharp vinegary taste. If it was a little sweeter it would've been perfect. Will have to try the pizza on another day but overall a pretty good experience! read more
