First of all, they changed their name (and the outdoor sign) to "CM Chicken". I've been meaning to check out their famous Korean Chicken for ages. There are many Korean Chicken restaurants in the Duluth and surrounding areas, but Choong Man Chicken seemed to stand out for some reason. I arrived super-early for lunch, and was seated right away. The place had a dark, barsy vibe...but they did play some perky K-Pop videos. Am thinking this place is more popular at nights...since chicken and beer is a thing (with Koreans). Anyway, the service was friendly...and the foods came quickly. Anyway, I tried their "Soy Garlic Spring Greens Chicken", which comes with a side of white radish. I also ordered a side or Rice. Since I came for lunch, I got the smaller portion, which was still substantial. As expected, the chicken was delish...but not quite what I expected. The chicken didn't seem double-fried (?) and wasn't crispy...which was disappointing. I guess to get the double-fried crispy, I should have gone with other flavors. I actually regretted not choosing their signature flavor, "Snow Onion Chicken"...as that chicken seemed more crispy. Overall, I was a tad disappointed...but mostly due to what I chose (?). Choong Man Chicken is a delicious spot for Korean fried chicken! It is located in the plaza with Teso Life, so there are a bunch of things to do before or after eating here. The server was attentive and the atmosphere inside was chill. I ordered the Garlic Soy Chicken and it was really yummy! Garlic soy is usually my go to flavor for Korean fried chicken and I am glad that the sauce was already infused in the meat as I know some other places like to have the sauce on the side. Food was good but there was too much breading and the garlic soy was very salty. We ordered some rice -not complimentary -for those who are curious but the radish is complimentary. We originally wanted to order the original and garlic but they don't have the garlic and said they now have the garlic soy chicken. (Just fyi for those who have been here before.) We were lucky to eat it within minutes of ordering. I feel like the dining experience would've been an even better experience as it would allow for that proper crunch. This was my first time visiting this place, and probably it will be the last time... We got there and the restaurant was almost empty, but the ambience was good. First thing I asked was if the garlic chicken was spicy (I wanted to confirm) even when the spicy food on the menu has a chili as reference... The server told me that it wasn't spicy at all. I had a surgery and was not able to eat spicy and my mother didn't like spicy food... It took a long time for them to bring our food and when they did, we were impressed cause it was a lot of food (around 8 chicken tenders per plate) but when we ate... IT WAS VERY SPICY!!! We told the server and he bring us the plane chicken (we ordered one to share cause it was a big plate) It wasn't bad. But the real problem came when the server decided to send another person for the check. They were charging us everything (around 88$) which I consider it unfair, because I ask a hundred times if it was spicy and I told him I had a surgery!!! The second server just said that he was feeling sorry but 'Korean food is always spicy' but I live in this area, I'm going to Korean places all the time and never had that problem before. I usually do not like chicken breast but this time, I ate it because it was super moist. The coleslaw was tangy and the cabbage had good crunch. I love coleslaw but I love it more when it's not drowning in mayo. This coleslaw had the right amount of mayo, sweet & tangy all at the same time. How do they do it? The pickled radish were cut to good cubes. I've had tiny cubes that didn't go well with chicken. The serving size of the radish was generous too. I loved what I had last night. They both tasted really good and had individually had great flavors. Their chicken isn't spicy at all even tho their description says spicy. This place meets the crispness of how Korean chicken should be cooked. I wished there were more authentic Korean side dishes to pair with the Korean fried chicken. The chicken that has the red base sauce to it tasted a mixture of sweet, chili sauce, & duck sauce. The other chicken that looked like plain fried chicken had a sweet glaze drizzled on top of it. In comparison to other Korean fried chicken I've tried in the past this place is definitely a place to try, but it needs more side dishes. This restaurant was on my want-to-go list for a long time, and we finally decided to try them for dinner on the weekend. The place was almost empty. there was an hour for the business to close, but when we asked for the menu, the guy on the counter told us the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes so we opted for a to-go instead of dine-in. We got Snow Onion Wings and Spicy Garlic Chicken Tenders. The chicken was well coated with the sauce and they gave us white sauce and Onions on the side for the snow chicken. Wings and Tenders were perfectly cooked and fantastic flavor. I loved the numbing effect spicy tenders left on my lips.. Giving this place 4 stars because of the price point. 6 wings for $17 and $16 for 10-15 small bite sized pieces of chicken as tenders is way higher than any fried chicken or wings restaurant. read more

Food is really good that's the only reason there is a star. The service is terrible. The servers clearly hate being there and are exceptionally rude. I've been here multiple times and always tip. The one time i don't tip because of realization of the subpar service, the man and woman behind the counter began to gossip and say "no tip no tip" loudly, mocking me, even though they gave little to no service after giving food. They literally only asked what we wanted and they never approached us again, but gave service to several other tables that got there after us. They're very entitled for their crappy attitudes. This chicken was extra crispy because it's fried and then baked. The snow chicken was also delicious - more on the sweet side and a great contrast to the garlic soy chicken. It reminded me of the Sweet Vidalia Onion dressing from Ken's Steak House and it comes with a bunch of raw onions on top. I'm a huge fan of both the dressing and onions so this was really good, but if you're very meh about onions, this probably isn't the order for you. The only thing is that the wings we ordered were a little smaller than I expected. Not a huge complaint but the Korean fried chicken I've tried in previous places were a little bigger - something to keep in mind when you're ordering. The worst place on earth to eat with bad customer service and cheat on customer's bill. They sneak in a charge for a plate we didnt order at all. Plus add an additional 18% tip without telling you then pretend to give you the charge machine asking for additional tip.
