ToreOre inside H Mart food court.
    Daniel B.

I touched on ToreOre in my Suwanee Super H Mart review, but came all the way back to H Mart just to eat at ToreOre again. This place deserves its own review. I can't believe it had only three reviews before mine. ToreOre is known for it's delicious Korean double-fried chicken. There is one other location in the Atlanta area (that I'm aware of), at the Johns Creek H Mart. You can order the chicken to eat there in the food court or get it to go. If you order the chicken to go, they package your chicken neatly in a special box with lined with tissue paper (to soak up the grease) and handles. The box is designed to keep your chicken crispy. ToreOre chicken starts at 10 pieces (wings and drumsticks) at $6.99. You can mix and match different flavors, even for orders as small as 10 pieces. The restaurant offers the regular "marinade" fried chicken, sweet & spicy chicken, garlic tasty chicken, marinade chicken nuggets, and spicy chicken nuggets. The chicken is served with a small container of pickled daikon and sweet ketchup. My favorite flavor is the garlic tasty chicken. It's packed with a ton of flavor. The skin on all flavors is extra crispy. Your fingers will get oily when eating this stuff. While the chicken is oily, it's not as greasy as you'd expect. The ladies working at this location are really nice. One time, one of them gave me a ToreOre magnet clip for my fridge. The chicken takes at least 15 minutes to prepare as all orders are cooked-to-order. You may either want to call ahead (770-932-9517) or place your order and get some grocery shopping done instead of waiting. Since it comes straight from the fryer, the chicken comes to you super hot. I can't say this stuff is healthy for you, but boy is it tasty!

Since we'd already made the trek to Suwanee to check out Umaido, we decided to check out ToreOre's Korean fried chicken, too - doing a copycat of what Kit F did after his Umaido visit :) ToreOre is located in the Super H Mart food court. According to a press release, they use "never frozen" fresh chicken that's been marinated for 12-24 hrs w/ a special flour that's mixed w/ 5 different grains - brown rice, black peas, barley, millet, and they didn't mention the 5th grain. So they say it's "very healthy" fried chicken - hahahahaha :) We were full from dinner so we got just a small order of the "marinated fried chicken" for $6.99 which included 7 pieces. The chicken is fried to order so you do have to wait - but it's worth the wait. As soon as it came to our table, we were all saying how it smelled like funnel cake - it really does! The meat was perfection, tender & juicy, maybe even slightly sweet. It wasn't Bonchon but it was very good. Next time I'd like to try their hot sweet & spicy fried chicken, and their garlic fried chicken.

This is the no. 6 combo which include a drink for less than $10. Pretty good deal.

ToreOre is located in the Hmart supermarket food court. Normally food court quality is questionable but the fried chicken here is excellent. They have different flavors but my favorite is sweet and spicy. The no. 6 combo which includes 4 pieces of chicken, Fried rice and salad and drink for less than $10 is a pretty good deal. They cook everything to order and chicken takes about 13 - 15 minutes. Sometimes I call in the order to the owners cellphone when I am on my way so I don't have to wait. Yeah I go there that often.

The best Korean fried chicken I've had thus far in Atlanta! It's always fresh and made to order. My favorite flavor is the garlic tasty! Go grab an eight piece when you're in the area!

Great to have some tasty quick chicken fix. I would try for multiple flavors. There's also a lunch special with fried rice.

Best fried chicken I've had aside from Hattie Bs. The garlic chicken here is incredible. I got it to-go so, the steam in the styrofoam box softened the skin a bit and I live 10 minutes from the restaurant but it was still soooooooo good. The flavor of the chicken is so surprising. Don't go here expecting wing dings, I'm going to be honest, a couple of the shapes were a little suspect, found myself asking "what part of the chicken is this?" Despite my confusion, i still ate it. I can't imagine how good this would be if I had ate it fresh in the food hall. I will definitely be back. I also can't wait to try the original marinade and the dumplings. It's going to be a while though because the garlic is addicting.

Lunch special- a LOT of fried rice and 3 pic of Korean fried chicken and salad with thousand island dressing

This place also says mandoo ahjuhssi which basically means dumpling man. They started as a fried chicken place (they still do that) but they specialize in dumplings . I def recommend the dumplings over chicken. I've had this place multiple times. All Koreans who've had this place's dumpling will only come here to eat dumpling bc this is be BEST Korean dumpling you'll ever have. (Comparable to ones you'll have in actual Korea) Before yesterday I've only tried their steamed dumpling (8 piece for $6.99 either kimchi, meat, or veggie like chives) There are four styles of dumpling Most popular- steamed Second- fried Third - inside soup (broth is like beef bone broth) Fourth- frozen (you can buy packs of their famous dumpling and cook it at home...I've tried this and it tastes just as good as if you order fresh) But I decided to try their noodle soup with dumpling and their lunch special of krn fried chicken + salad + fried rice + and a soda. The 3 piece fried chicken on the picture provided in their menu looks small and not rly worth the $8.99 but when it came out it was giant (not wings but actual legs and thighs). They also gave me a lot of fried rice and it's one of the best fried rice I've had. Not only was food good but service was great. The owner guy made sure I had access to the hot sauce (for the fried rice) and he gave me an extra spoon so I could get a taste of my bfs soup. Bf loved his soup. Don't be afraid to try the dumpling or lunch special!

ToreOre garlic tasty fried chicken. 7pieces for $8.99

Stopped inside H Mart to shop for some fresh produce and then decided to have some lunch inside the foodcourt. Chose ToreOre. Food: Got the 7piece garlic tasty fried chicken ($8.99). I was expecting it to be super crunchy Korean fried chicken. I was disappointed in the texture and crunchiness because it happened to have the "exact" same texture and crunchiness to that of KFC chicken (where the soft and sometimes soggy from the grease-breading falls off the meat when you bite into it). Aside from that, the flavor was good (got garlic fried chicken but did not taste any garlic flavor). Still good though, hence the 3 stars. Service: very nice and polite people here. Free water is available in small white styrofoam cups. Can't complain. Overall: because I love food, yes I will continue to come here for the fried chicken. Yes I do recommend giving this place a try. If you want super crunchy Korean fried chicken then go elsewhere. It's funny, but Ai Tunes (karaoke place) actually had some really, really amazing and deliciously super crunchy Korean fried chicken. That's one of my many go to places for Korean fried chicken when I am craving it. Also thanks to Maangchi (YouTube), I have learned how to cook it too!

    Dumpling Jun Gol

Forget the fried chicken (which is pretty decent here), try their dumplings. They're freshly handmade, and oh god their dumpling stew (jun gol) is the bomb. Reminds me of Korea.

The shrimp were delicious and prepared just like I'm used to. This dish is lightly battered fried shrimp with a soy sauce bases sauce with red pepper and black pepper spices. It also features other sautéed veggies like green peppers and onions. The shrimp were spiced nicely, but also had the flavor of black pepper coming through. A lot of places don't get that right. The perfect mix of that spice red pepper heat and hint of black pepper are exactly why I love about this dish. The shrimp were fried perfectly and the veggies deliciously sauted. The Haemul Jjampong was a flavor and spice bomb. The broth was so flavorful and had a great essence of the seafood in it (squid, mussels, abalone). This soup is also for people not afraid of the spice...it was SPICY, but no so much that it was unenjoyable. The spice complemented the flavor and I loved it. The take-home of the leftovers was just as good the next day! If I had to say anything that they might think of changing, would be the addition of kimchi to the banchan. The banchan was ddanmuji (pickled radish, raw white onions, marinated white onion slivers, and soy marinated peanuts). A little plate mat kimchi to wrap around the Jjampong noodles would be perfection.

Otherwise you'll end up in the gas station. First of all, this place is HUGE compared to the other locations. Super clean, new furniture, it's just pleasant to be there. Really generous with the banchan. I love the banchan there, it's 4 different kinds but all of them complement the food you eat. I was on a tear last night. Ordered the teokbokki as an appetizer. Then went with the soondubu ramen combination with beef bulgogi. First of all, the ramen is definitely a big portion, combined with the tofu it's a lot. Medium spicy is good enough unless you like sounding like you're a recovering drug addict. My goodness. I took the ramen noodles out so I could make sure I had broth left. Ate very slowly because the picked radishes were so good and the kimchi cucumbers were also killer. The teokbokki was tasty, but nothing special. Price is good, sharing is fine. But in the future I love the combo idea because you get a small skillet of beef, onions, and peppers. Sweet and savory, paired with the ramen soondubu it's a LOT. We took the rice cakes home. I can't speak any higher about the cleanliness and service here. They all pitch in, and I wonder if they knew I was going to write something because I took so many pics. Either way I believe this is the best place for tofu stew in the OTP area. Support small businesses! I'll be back!
