I love Korean fried chicken so I was excited to try this place. This was the first time I've seen snow onion chicken on the menu and tried it. It is a little pricy ($18 for the tenders/drumsticks plate). The Korean fried chicken is topped with onions in a creamy sauce. The sauce wasn't too thick or heavy and they didn't smother the chicken enough to make it soggy. Ask for gloves if you want them! Straight up fire! [insert fire emoji] I've been dying to try KFC, so my friends and I met up one weekday for lunch. Parking is plentiful. Our group of 3 was seated right away. The space is a bit dark inside. Since we like to take photos of our food, we asked to be seated closer to the window and they accommodated us with no problem. We ordered the following: Garlic Spicy Chicken (wings) $12 Red Hot Pepper Chicken (wings) $12 Tikku Soy Sauce Gizzard $10 Side of rice Yes, we were a bit insane for ordering TWO hot entrees, but they were painfully delicious! I felt that spice in my soul. The chicken was crisped to perfection. As spicy as they were, it was hard to stop eating. They were that good! My mouth is watering right now thinking about them. The glaze on the gizzard was a sweet and refreshing welcome to the tongue after the burn. We couldn't get enough of it! My wife and I came to Choong Man Chicken for our weekly date night. I believe I've seen other Yelp friends check-in here, so when I looked it up, it was added to my bookmarks and has been there for a while. The Parking: Open shopping center parking lot. Free. The Atmosphere: This restaurant is in a shopping center, so it seemed larger than I thought it would be. There was a lot of seating from tables to booths. We came on a Tuesday, so it was pretty empty outside of 3 tables of guests. I also enjoyed the K-Pop music/videos on playing. I'm always appreciative to be opened up to something outside of my norm. I even saved a few artists/songs that I liked. The Service: The service was great. We were greeted upon entry and thanked upon our exit, all with smiles. Our waitress was very friendly. The Food: We ordered Garlic Spicy Chicken wings ($12) & Curly fries ($5). Let me tell you, this chicken was AMAZING! The wings were large, crispy, & juicy. Went to this place based on recommendations. Can't argue that this is the best Korean Fried Chicken in town. I had the snow chicken tenders. The breading was perfect. Not too soft, not too crunchy, and not very oily (as compared to your standard southern fried chicken). It came with a pile of thin sliced onions, and savory white sauce. I expected gochujang when I requested hot, but received a cup of a complex peppery sauce on the side. A nice change from red pepper paste. I can't wait to go back and try some other flavors. I give ChoongMan Chicken a solid four out of five stars. This restaurant has great Korean fried chicken; currently some of the best you're going to find in metro Atlanta. ChoongMan opened in the old JM BBQ space (http://bit.ly/2Q6ufVA) at GW Marketplace, on the end opposite of Sweet Hut, in October 2018. JM Bar remains. This is the first Georgia location for this international Korean fried chicken chain. ChoongMan is a direct competitor to Thank U Chicken (http://bit.ly/2LRFZgm), also in Duluth, and to a lesser extent, places like Hello Chicken (on Buford Highway; http://bit.ly/2LUnesw) and Bonchon (another chain; http://bit.ly/2QbUCtp), which are located farther away. I've tried them all and it's hard for me to pick a favorite because I think they're all good and for various reasons. To me, ChoongMan is most comparable to Thank U in terms of taste, texture, and even ambiance. If you're a fan of Thank U (and Korean fried chicken in general), ChoongMan is definitely worth checking out. The dining room is divided into three sections with half-wall partitions. Everything arrived to our table relatively quick, despite it being a moderately busy night, and the dishes were piping hot. I couldn't tell a difference between the tikkudak cooking style and the regular cooking style. All of the chicken was delectably crispy and crunchy. I suggest avoiding tenders to maximize taste and texture. The Garlic Soy had a completely different flavor profile than the Garlic Spicy, so don't be hesitant to order both. The Garlic Spicy has a heat that hits you right away, while the Red Hot Gizzards have a slower, more intense burn. Overall, we found all of the chicken to have an addictive quality to them. The gizzards, sized like popcorn chicken, had a terrific, appetizing, and chewy texture. I recommend them (get the Soy Sauce version if you don't like spicy food). The Hot Snow Onion chicken comes with two sauces, a white one that they smother on top and a green one that comes on the side. The white one is sweet, creamy, and I believe mayo-based. The green one is spicy, sort of like a peppery salsa. The onions aren't just plain onions, but pickled with a nice, sharp, vinegary taste to them. I like how they're generous with them. I came on my birthday (none of the workers actually knew that it was, lol) and our table was treated quite well! And to switch things up, we ordered a side of French Fries. While we were waiting, a server walked around offering around free samples of Curry Chicken, which worked out perfectly since it was our 3rd choice. And we instantly regretted not ordering this, because it was one of my favorite flavors overall! The Snow Onion Chicken is delicious! I love raw onions (I know, gross) but with the sauce and the crispy fried chicken, I found this to be quite hard to stop eating. We even started dipping our French fries in the sauce. The Garlic Soy Tikkudak was recommended by our server and it was ok. Thankfully, we ordered a order of the wings and not the whole chicken. They weren't bad, but not as amazing as the Curry! And if you've had it, you know. Their success went from one establishment to one in each borough and NJ. This place is neck and neck with Pelicana, when it comes to the chicken. My first trip, I had the usual soy garlic, then a month later I tried two flavors (on order to return to Charlotte with 2 boxes), the standby garlic and the red hot pepper. The lady at the counter warned me it was hot, and it was! But still lip smacking good. The vote was unanimous, we order red hot from here on out. After a few pieces, I got kind of tired of the sauce. Plus, the crispy chicken gets soggy after a while with the sauce on top. I would probably prefer the onion sauce on the side for dipping instead. *Soy Garlic Tikkudak ($13/wings+tenders, $23/whole chicken): YUMMY. I really liked the flavor on this one. A solid 4.5 stars! I've only gotten to try their carry out so the food may not be optimally served since it required me driving home. Despite this, the KFC was super crunchy and flavorful while still being moist on the inside. I was impressed. The flavors were all great - my favorite being the onion flavor. I asked for sauce on the side and really enjoyed it as more of a dipping sauce. The gizzards were also a good chewy/crunchy texture that I really enjoyed. I do wish the portion sizes are a bit larger since it felt like my order was smaller compared to some other KFC places for a whole chicken. This is one of those times where to go or not, the dish was great! I have never dined in at Choong man chicken, but when I can take a 30 minute drive home and the wings are still slightly crispy, that's some good frying! With that said I did eat a wing immediately in front of the restaurant in the car, and those are some legit KFC wings. A surprise initially to me was the sauce for the wings, which is sweet, sticky AND a garlic lovers dream. Have a lot of wet naps with you though because that sauce gives a whole new meaning to sticky fingers. Three peppers are found next to the spicy garlic chicken entry on the menu, but don't let that scare you away from this. These wings are spicy but not mouth wrecking! I honestly can't speak on customer service because there wasn't any. I walked in, paid, and walked out. They do cook to order though, so don't place your order and expect to wait 5 minutes. A 20 minute wait isn't a big deal either and their food is worth it. Located in the Gwinnett Station shopping center on the far away side from Sweet Hut (it's closer to IHOP), and parking is pretty easy to find here. Modern decor with with industrial vibe similar to how many KBBQ places are decorated. Very chill vibe, you definitely get the vibe this would be a good place to eat and drink at. The menu consist of, and you guessed it, fried chicken! In a variety of flavors, you have: fried, garlic soy (spicy option available), hot chili pepper, and curry. These are served in variations such as Snow (with flavored sliced onions on top) and Tikkudak (fried and then baked chicken). These come as either wings/tenders or whole chicken. Also you have options for sides like coleslaw and fries. The chicken has a kick of spice to it. The chicken is juicy and crispy. They are not overly fried which is a good thing because you don't want it to hard and crunchy. Portion size are generous and they can definitely be shared with more than one person. Honestly the chicken is on point but the sides are really basic and okay overall, nothing too special there. They offer beer but it's limited to a few options and at the time I was there they didn't have their alcohol license yet. Not a big deal since the one thing they do good here is the chicken which is the main reason people are coming here. If you need a place to get Korean fried chicken, this is definitely a good option. It's been a place that converted a ton of my friends as well to Korean fried chicken. Ordered a plate of snow chicken tenders and garlic soy chicken wings. There was way too much breading and the breading was too dense and not light or crispy. Also the wings were actually a mix of wings and legs (not mentioned anywhere on the menu there will be legs) and they are so tiny with no meat on each wing/leg. Have you tried K.F.C?! Not Finger Lickin' Good Colonel Sanders KFC, but Korean Fried Chicken. Even on buzzfeed video today, K.F.C won against the southern fried chicken. While any fried chicken can do no wrong, K.F.C is just another level with it being airy, crunchy, moist, and heavenly. And this place has the best K.F.C in Atlanta. After our initial visit here, today would have been the 3rd weekend in a row to pick up fried chicken from here, but resisted the temptation as my husband and I had 9292 shabu buffet for lunch. Of course, I regretted it after we got home, but I'm sure it was for the better. Choong Man is located on the opposite side of the plaza from Sweet Hut in Duluth. We've only done pick up orders, but the portions are plenty and never had any issues with the sides or sauces being missing. Not only do they have the perfect regular fried chicken, there's so many flavor options at this location. So far, our favorite is the snow chicken, which comes with tangy creamy orange sauce with thinly sliced onion to smoother your chicken with. Even without the sauce or the onion, the chicken is just perfect. Another flavor that I liked was the spicy garlic wings, which had surprise kicks to it. My favorite korean fried chicken spot hands down! This is located in huge shopping center and there is plenty of parking. My go to dish are the garlic soy tikkudak wings. I believe the wings are baked and fried, which results in some delicious crispy wings. The sauce is delicious - sweet and a little bit spicy. You get about 11 small wings for $13. I saw a tik tok about Korean fried chicken so while in the area, this spot came up. The chicken is very expensive. $15 for 12oz of wings and it is about 6-8 pieces total. Prior to ordering I asked the employee if the wings would be whole and he said yes - LIE. Wings are split. So I ordered the fried chicken wings with snow onion and spicy garlic sauces on the side. Service was quick. The place was clean. I ordered to go but a friend was nearby and I sat at the table thinking we could just sit and eat and I was informed that you cannot dine in if you order to go------ the place is not fancy in the least. It is a chicken and fries place .......like.... Hold your horses ---a paid meal is a paid meal... and the restaurant was EMPTY...lol... make it make sense. Anyway, the chicken is season-less. Very bland by itself. I dipped the chicken in the snow onion and that was pretty decent. It was a different taste but a good different. The spicy garlic was also good and pretty spicy as the name suggests. If not for the table situation, I probably would return and try again with the wings actually dipped in the sauces .
