First of all, they changed their name (and the outdoor sign) to "CM Chicken". I've been meaning to check out their famous Korean Chicken for ages. There are many Korean Chicken restaurants in the Duluth and surrounding areas, but Choong Man Chicken seemed to stand out for some reason. I arrived super-early for lunch, and was seated right away. The place had a dark, barsy vibe...but they did play some perky K-Pop videos. Am thinking this place is more popular at nights...since chicken and beer is a thing (with Koreans). Anyway, the service was friendly...and the foods came quickly. Anyway, I tried their "Soy Garlic Spring Greens Chicken", which comes with a side of white radish. I also ordered a side or Rice. Since I came for lunch, I got the smaller portion, which was still substantial. As expected, the chicken was delish...but not quite what I expected. The chicken didn't seem double-fried (?) and wasn't crispy...which was disappointing. I guess to get the double-fried crispy, I should have gone with other flavors. I actually regretted not choosing their signature flavor, "Snow Onion Chicken"...as that chicken seemed more crispy. Overall, I was a tad disappointed...but mostly due to what I chose (?). Am thinking that I'll try their "Snow Onion" next time...and see if that'll merit 5 stars.
Choong Man Chicken is a delicious spot for Korean fried chicken! It is located in the plaza with Teso Life, so there are a bunch of things to do before or after eating here. The server was attentive and the atmosphere inside was chill. I ordered the Garlic Soy Chicken and it was really yummy! Garlic soy is usually my go to flavor for Korean fried chicken and I am glad that the sauce was already infused in the meat as I know some other places like to have the sauce on the side. The chicken was super crispy and the meat was juicy! I also got the Cheese Monster Fries which tasted super good because of the cheese seasoning on top. My only qualm about this place is that the wings were TINY! I was expecting them to be a little meatier. But overall, this is a good spot for some crispy and flavorful chicken!
We were craving some Korean fried chicken so we came here. Overall experience was good. We ordered the original and the garlic soy fried chicken. Food was good but there was too much breading and the garlic soy was very salty. We ordered some rice -not complimentary -for those who are curious but the radish is complimentary. We originally wanted to order the original and garlic but they don't have the garlic and said they now have the garlic soy chicken. (Just fyi for those who have been here before.) They should probably take it off the menu. Service was good, they have a QR code for the menu and food came out fairly fast. When we first walked in, it was kind of quiet but it could've been a certain time of the day that doesn't get much noise. It started to pick up closer to evening and I noticed more people ordering take out rather than dining in. But it's a pretty big space that's great for small or large groups. If you're looking for something fast, stop by here and check it out for yourself. Till then, let's eat!
We are 7 on the group and we ordered all of the flavors of the tikkudak. All tastes great! We ate it with rice and also ordered the calamari. We like the side radish. We got full and finished everything. My brother ordered another of the red pepper tikkudak. I can only eat 1 of those. So good but really spicy and it will hit you after.
Let me tell you something... I thought I knew fried chicken but I did not! Love love love this place!!! It is true that frying chicken is an art and I enjoyed every minute of it! Choong Man Chicken offers a variety of chicken based sauces delicately cooked to impress! I suggest going with other people and mixing your orders to taste all they offer. Don't get me started on the coleslaw! BEST EVER!!! And I appreciated the serving of pickled radishes on the table. I ate the whole bowl. I will DEFINITELY be back! Thank you Chef Jeff for sharing your culinary vision and skill to us!!!
The chicken is that good! We were supposed to snag a couple before pictures but this is all we managed to take. My husband and I placed an order through the phone to pick up. We ordered 1/2 spicy garlic chicken. And the regular 1/2 chicken. The flavor on the spicy chicken is amazing. Good amount of heat with a really nice crunch. We were lucky to eat it within minutes of ordering. I feel like the dining experience would've been an even better experience as it would allow for that proper crunch. When the chicken sits inside the box it will obviously get a little softer but it was definitely still awesome. As we arrived to get our order we were warmly greeted instantly as if they were just as eager as us to try the food Definitely a cozy atmosphere. Employees are wonderful. I will be coming back. The radish is also surprisingly wonderful
This was my first time visiting this place, and probably it will be the last time... We got there and the restaurant was almost empty, but the ambience was good. First thing I asked was if the garlic chicken was spicy (I wanted to confirm) even when the spicy food on the menu has a chili as reference... The server told me that it wasn't spicy at all. I had a surgery and was not able to eat spicy and my mother didn't like spicy food... It took a long time for them to bring our food and when they did, we were impressed cause it was a lot of food (around 8 chicken tenders per plate) but when we ate... IT WAS VERY SPICY!!! We told the server and he bring us the plane chicken (we ordered one to share cause it was a big plate) It wasn't bad. But the real problem came when the server decided to send another person for the check. They were charging us everything (around 88$) which I consider it unfair, because I ask a hundred times if it was spicy and I told him I had a surgery!!! The second server just said that he was feeling sorry but 'Korean food is always spicy' but I live in this area, I'm going to Korean places all the time and never had that problem before. Either way, I asked and the first server could say that, instead he say that it wasn't spicy at all. At the end, the other guy didn't even come to our table. We had to pay everything. We were asked if we wanted 2 boxes to bring all that chicken home which it was kind of a joke for us. Terrible experience, terrible service!
I give this place an 8 out of 10. My server didn't really explain which chicken was what, but we ordered the garlic spicy chicken and the garlic tikkudak chicken. They both tasted really good and had individually had great flavors. Their chicken isn't spicy at all even tho their description says spicy. This place meets the crispness of how Korean chicken should be cooked. I wished there were more authentic Korean side dishes to pair with the Korean fried chicken. The chicken that has the red base sauce to it tasted a mixture of sweet, chili sauce, & duck sauce. The other chicken that looked like plain fried chicken had a sweet glaze drizzled on top of it. In comparison to other Korean fried chicken I've tried in the past this place is definitely a place to try, but it needs more side dishes. There's nothing authentic about calamari and white rice.
This place is kicking out some perfectly fried and slightly spicy chicken. I have zero complaints about the service, the joint or the food. It was all delish!
Really good Korean fried chicken! The portions are huge. An order can easily be shared. This is the spot if you are craving hot korean fried chicken!
If you follow me on Google maps, Yelp, or Instagram @aka.thefoodguide, you must know how much I love spicy fried chicken. This restaurant was on my want-to-go list for a long time, and we finally decided to try them for dinner on the weekend. The place was almost empty. there was an hour for the business to close, but when we asked for the menu, the guy on the counter told us the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes so we opted for a to-go instead of dine-in. We got Snow Onion Wings and Spicy Garlic Chicken Tenders. The chicken was well coated with the sauce and they gave us white sauce and Onions on the side for the snow chicken. Wings and Tenders were perfectly cooked and fantastic flavor. I loved the numbing effect spicy tenders left on my lips.. Giving this place 4 stars because of the price point. 6 wings for $17 and $16 for 10-15 small bite sized pieces of chicken as tenders is way higher than any fried chicken or wings restaurant.
Reviews are mixed. Many highlight the crispy flavorful chicken, especially the popular garlic soy and curry options. Several mention a pleasant atmosphere.

This is a cute eatery for a more "it's Thursday night and I don't feel like cooking" bite or a very, very casual first date if you are trying to get friend zoned. I definitely consider this a cheap eat and 1 plate of tenders is enough for two people. Also, if you are getting the fries (which is a little more highly priced than the actual meat if you are looking at food to dollar ratio), definitely go for the curly fries. They are crispier. The food is just a tad too salty, for my taste. Keep in mind, I'm an Asian person that bleeds soy sauce if you cut her. So it might actually be TOO salty. The salt wouldn't be an issue if the waiter was at your beck and call to refill your water, or you got your own pitcher like most other Korean places. However, this place is new and seems to be severely understaffed. I waited so long for the bill that I just walked up to the counter and tried to pay. My server was the one running the cash register and he didn't recognize me. He asked me if I was trying to place an order to go! I was also disappointed because they were out of the spicy garlic flavor, so I ordered the soy garlic. I don't mind coming back to try the spicy garlic. read more

In the mood for some Korean fried chicken, two of us gals shared a half order of garlic soy chicken. The half order along with the complimentary daikon radish, we found, to be more than plentiful. The chicken was crisp, flavorful, sweet and spicy, all-around delicious. Service was attentive, restaurant and bathroom were both clean. We would recommend and return. read more

Rainy days?! Perfect for some Korean Fried Chicken!!! I ordered on DoorDash & it arrived in about 30 minutes. The daikon radish, onions & all the sauces were packed separately. OMG, the Hot Snow Onion was the dabomb.com!!! I just had foodgasm in my mouth. The chicken was crispy & crunchy on the outside & juicy on the inside. That creamy sauce tho.... can get addicting!!! *drools* read more
3.5 I think that it's above average. I liked how they checked our temperatures before going in, and they really practiced social distancing. I also liked that there was no physical menu. What you do is take a picture of the QR code at the table, and then you read the menu through your phone. I felt that they went above average practicing social distancing. It was very clean and sanitary. Food wise- it was my first time having Korean fried chicken. I really thought it was amazing. I had the classic flavor and thought it was awesome. It was cooked to perfection. I thought the seasoning was perfect. They did not overdue it with the sodium, and also the batter was amazing. I've never had a batter like this before. My only complaint is that we also ordered the curry chicken flavor, but they brought out the red hot pepper chicken flavor. We pointed on the menu at our choice, and also said our order, and the server looked at what we pointed at, but put the wrong order in. When they brought out the wrong flavor, and we told them, we were just told that that's what we ordered. I felt that this could've been handled better since we know what we ordered and pointed on our phones what we wanted from the menu. We were offered a side dipping sauce of the curry chicken flavor. Food was good, but I felt that customer service could've been a little better. That's the reason for the 3.5 stars or else I would've given them more stars. read more

I LOVE this place so much. The food and service are always 10/10. The inside of the restaurant if very spacious and has a lot of seating. You are always seated once you enter and given water right away. When I come I always order curly fries, garlic spicy, fried chicken/garlic soy/curry chicken. If I order two types of chicken I get one tender or one wing. The chicken are fried perfectly and the sauce is spread evenly throughout. The chicken portion is a bit on the smaller side but it still fills you up surprisingly. I have also tried the snow onion chicken which is very delicious if you like fresh onion. It is also very saucy so the sauce could be overpowering sometimes. The waiters check up on you throughout your meal and fill up your waters (which is a plus!) but they tend to forget bringing your check. For some reason every time I have visited the workers forget about the check. So we are left to hunt them down while they are walking past, to remind them that we need to check out. There is also an option to check out at the front which I will take advantage of next time if they forget. Overall, love this place and will visit soon most definitely. Their chicken is completely different from other korean chicken restaurants! read more
Hands down my favorite kfc (Korean fried chicken) spot! I've been here a good amount of times now and never once have I had a bad experience or felt that the quality decreased. The chicken is always cooked juicy, perfectly crispy on the outside, and well seasoned. My mouth is watering just thinking about their snow onion chicken...YUM! read more
Delicious and nice chicken joint in Duluth. This restaurant does it right and makes some quality chicken wings that are of excellent quality and flavor. They are conveniently located by coffee by hand and sweet hut. Parking is plentiful and seating space is abundant. I cam see myself returning here often and am glad they are in the neighborhood of Duluth. The only negative I can say about this place is that their chicken is a bit on the expensive side and their portion size is a bit on the small side. Being that these are high quality wings however I can't dock any stars for that. I would rank this chicken joint in my top 50 chicken wings spots I have tried in Georgia, if I have even gone to that many spots to begin with. Good job Choong Man chicken and we hope you do very well and stay around for a long time. Keep up the good work and thank you for being here. 4.1752 rounded up makes this one a solid bonafide 5 Yelp Stars in my book! #choongman! read more
I'm so happy that there are more and more Korean fried chicken restaurants popping up around Atlanta lately. To me, Koreans are really the masters of chicken dishes. You must try out Choong Man if you love fried chicken like I do. I was most impressed by the Red Hot Pepper Chicken Wings and Curry chicken wings. I highly recommend the wings over the boneless ones. The bone-in wings are much more flavorful and juicier. My friends and I usually order the curly fries and couple of Sapporo (beer on tab). The cold and carbonated rush of the beer complemented the crunchy, sweet, spicy, chicken beautifully. This combination of Korean-fried-chicken and beer is known as Chimaek which is very popular in Korea. I want to give Choong Man Chicken three and a half stars(round up to four). The reasons are lacking variety in menu and we were not very happy with some of the side items. I think Choong Man wouldn't be a good place for big family dinner meal. I would definitely come back here to have some Chimaek, relax, and complain about work with my friends. read more
Dear Korean fried chicken, where have you been all my life ??!! I thoroughly enjoyed this chicken... it's crunchy crisp and juicy... all the things fried chicken should be ! However the wings are pretty small but you get a good portion so whatever ! I had the garlic soy and it was great ! My fiancé had the spicy garlic chicken... it's a good flavor but it is really hot -- hot to the point where it was hard to enjoy. We also shared the curly fries (it's a lot and it comes out before the chicken b/c it's considered an appetizer) they were also cooked to perfection ! Only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the foyer of the restaurant has a terrible smell (we almost turned around due to that) but the actual restaurant doesn't smell as bad, still has a mild odor but it's tolerable. Other than that service was good, food was better, and I'm looking forward to returning to try other things. And if you are wondering what the white cubes are they give you before your meal it's radish cubes... didn't try them because that's not my thing but to each it's own !! read more

A go to spot for Korean fried chicken. It's always good, hot, and fresh. The chicken is crunchy even with the sauce. Every flavor is good and I have already been back twice. Service was good in my opinion and food came out fast. read more
I am not a fan of Korean food, but wow!!! This place was amazing!! The chicken was so flavorful! We ordered curly fries and they were too crispy. Boo! Service was okay. We had a large party and had separate checks. We told them ahead of time and they apparently did not coordinate the checks. Paying for our tab took way too long. Be better organized next time! read more
My friend and I were craving some KFC. It's kinda funny just typing that cause to me, KFC stands for Kentucky Fried Chicken not Korean Fried Chicken. My first job was KFC so that's why those acronyms would never come to my mind first about Korean. After hiking Stone Mountain and hanging out with friends afterwards, we were getting hangry. We originally planned to eat Indonesian for lunch until I was on IG and saw pics of Choong Man Chicken, I showed my friend and we swayed to eat some KFC! Choong Man Chicken is in the same plaza as Sweet Hut in Duluth. It's on the most right side of the plaza, same side as Kremo. Parking is shared with the others. We came around 2ish and was greeted right away. After looking at menu, we decided on Garlic Spicy Chicken Wings, Hot Pepper Tikkudak Chicken Wings, Curry Tikkudak Chicken Wings, Tikku Hot Pepper Gizzard, and Curly Fries. Our fries came out first. We were expecting the fries to be a little more curly like Arby's haha, it was okay, typical but good appetizer since it was soooo much for just $5. Our food came all at the same time. The crunchiness of the wings were on point. Our favorite is the Hot Pepper Tukkudak Chicken Wings. It was the right amount of spiciness. My friend ordered a bowl of rice to eat also cause she's Asian and I'm not haha. That reminds me, we also got radishes as appetizers. I'm not Asian, remember? So I couldn't use the chopsticks lol. Which chicken piece do you prefer? When I was younger, working at KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), when customers order wings, most ask for the drummette. I'm the drummette girl too and my hubby loves drummettes more. Both of my kids prefer the flat pieces. As I meet people more now in the present time, more and more people tell me they prefer the flat pieces, like my friend who was there with me, along with my BILs. I love Korean Fried Chicken. I will be back! 81/2019 read more

I've been ordering out from here and love the consistency of the flavor and the texture of the chicken wings. This review is based solely on the garlic spicy as it's the only flavor that I've tried from Choong Man. For texture, the wings were protected by an outer crispy crunchy coating while the insides remained piping hot and juicy 5/5. As for flavor, the wings were smothered in a spicy, garlicky, salty sweet sauce that was so delicious that I couldn't get enough of. It was that finger licking good! I would absolutely order this again and again 5/5! Next time when I'm ordering again, I'll certainly give the red pepper chicken and the lemon spring onion chicken a try as they both sound delicious! I mentioned earlier that I've always ordered out and they're very punctual with their orders. read more

I've been to Choong Man a few times now, and it has never disappointed. We'll start with the "bad" first: 1) Service is OK. Each time I've gone, service was always different. When they're busy... they're busy so service is a little slow, but when business is slow, man, they're kind of slow; however, it's not to the point where you want to make a scene. They'll come to you eventually. 2) When you go to most Korean chicken places, they'll give you pickled radish AND the coleslaw/ salad as a side dish. Here they only give you the radish, I believe the coleslaw is $5 extra. I mean, I guess it's not that big of a deal, but it's still nice to have something to munch on while you're waiting. Now the goods! 1) I think Choong Man has the best Korean Fried Chicken in Duluth. It's super crunchy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. They offer unique "flavors" such as snow onion, curry, spicy chicken, and the regular fried chicken/ sweet and spicy chicken. 2) It's affordable. If you're in the Duluth area, check it out! read more

The chicken is great, but they could be bigger. I also thought the flavor was a tad off with the soy garlic being a little too sweet. The pricing is pretty reasonable and the service is fine (middle of the road). I wouldn't travel long distances for this, but if you're reasonably close, it's worth checking out. read more

Wow. The snow chicken is pretty bomb. Bomb as in delicious :P We dragged ourself in here as a last resort as we both had gotten hangry over indecisive dinner choices. The location is right where JM BBQ used to be, behind the ihop at the end of the shopping strip. Service was a bit spotty and theres a table dedicated for the workers and owners to sit on, they are on their phones and watching shows on their tablets, so you get the picture. We tried a number of things here: Spicy gizzards - woook so spicy but soooo delicious! I never had gizzards prepared this way but I mean why not? They are breaded and fried and doused in delicious spicy garlic sauce that has just the right amount of burn! Yas! Soy garlic tikkudak wings - the marinade is REALLY good. And the wings are a good size, unlike harue chicken which has half a thumb sized sad excuse for a chicken wing. The tikkudak means that its extra crispy crunchy because they fry it twice... mmmm! Spicy garlic wings - I really like these! The marinade tastes almost identical to the spicy gizzard sauce but a hint of something else. That something else was something my husband couldnt stomach (he hates cinnamon and said it had a cinnamonny taste) so he skipped on them. SNOW FREAKIN CHICKEN TENDERS- like, wow. So simple yet so delicious. The tenders were literally PERFECT---- SO tender and perfectly breaded, smothered in the snow sauce, which is basically vidalia onion sauce with more onions, topped with raw onions. Why didnt I ever think of doing this? Its genius!! So good! But stay away if you dislike onions and/or need to keep ur breath clean lolllll Curly fries - your standard curly fries (alot like arbys curly fries) cept the 5$ goes a long way, they bring you a huge basket of them Cole slaw- presentation: terrible lol it looked really nasty, the cabbages were in thick long noodle like strips and was smothered in sauce (which was actually pretty good). It looked like a cream pasta ahahah I would 100% come back here. The chicken is bomb. Heh read more
Would dare say this is the best Korean Fried Chicken I ever had. Located in the same plaza as Sweet Hut (all the way on the opposite side), there's plenty of parking. I came late on a Saturday night but I'm sure this place gets pretty busy. Inside it's a bar kind of environment with a very open seating and TVs playing kpop music. We had the wings since we weren't that hungry but I really wish we were much hungrier because these were mind-blowing! The chicken itself was super super crispy on the outside but somehow in the inside it was juicy and flavorful. You can literally see the sauce come out of the wing once you bite into it. We also had a side of coleslaw which complimented the oilness of the chicken really well. I had a beer too and it was the perfect meal. They don't have korean beer unfortunately. A Hite would honestly be the best drink for this chicken. I'll definitely be back and next time i'm trying the whole chicken with the onions over it! read more
I've been here several times before but this is my first review ! This has easily become my new favorite korean fried chicken restaurant. My favorite is the snow onion but it is super heavy on the raw onion so you are pretty stinky afterwards. But the sauce they drizzle is delicious. I recently got the spicy hot one - and it definitely has a good kick to it. Fortunately, I asked for the sauce on the side. Most of the chicken I ate without the sauce because I just love fried chicken. The chicken has been consistent with every single visit. Very crisp, thin breading/skin and it isn't a grease ball like American chicken. Extremely juicy meat. With a mug of beer & you're good to enjoy your meal! read more
Really good Korean fried chicken! Highly recommend this place. Garlic soy chicken or the snow onion chicken are the best in my opinion :) Although the most recent time I went here for garlic soy, the chicken was a bit over sweet to my friends and I. However, it's usually pretty good! Definitely coming back for more. You can choose between getting a whole chicken, tenders, or wings. read more
