I'm very happy with the service I got from Sutton. My last experience with tree-trimming was sub-par, so I was relieved to find a company I can use again. They came out within a day of calling, and were able to schedule the work right away. They showed up on time (actually, a bit early, which was like 7:15 am ...) but did the work quickly and efficiently. Most importantly they fully cleaned up after themselves and respected my property and other plants. The price was totally fair based on the ranges I've gotten through the years. read more

My husband made an appointment for a consultation with Dean Sutton to come and estimate the trimming of 1 200 year old oak tree. UNFORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT PRESENT FOR THIS CONSULTATION . We hired Sutton tree service to trim the one Oak that was dead . Then he proceeded to tell my husband that the second oak was dead and that should be cut down too. In my opinion, the second oak is not dead. It's sprouting new growth and I am just completely shocked that they took down a 200 year-old oak tree that was not dead. That was giving me shade for my home and for my beautiful garden, that I've spent years creating!!! The destruction and devastation combined with the emotional distress that I feel on a daily basis since the loss of that beautiful 200 year-old majestic oak. As an arborist, I would've thought that he would have been a little bit more aware of the consequences of destroying that tree right before summer. The protection and SHADE that Tree provided for plants and wildlife has now been destroyed and gone, never to come back, maybe in 200 years. I don't recommend this company if you have trees and landscape that you love and want to protect and preserve call somebody else. read more

I wouldn't recommend this company. Dean came out to the house and trimmed our palm trees. The day after they came, multiple palms had more fallen leaves that were nicked or partially cut during the process. . So, they had to come back again to remove those leaves which resulted in removing too many leaves at one time. Several weeks later one of palm trees started to look sick. The leaves were dying and the palm was sickly. We called Dean back out and he said it was too early to tell. That we should just wait. When the palm continued to deteriorate, we noticed that several other palms looked sick as well. We called out an arborist to assess them and he diagnosed them with a parasite that was transmitted from dirty blades. I called Dean back again and let him know that we were unhappy with this diagnosis and the treatment was expensive. The sickness was a direct result of this company not cleaning their blades inbetween clients. The palm has now died. We called Dean to come and look and his exact words were that we couldn't "prove" that it was him that caused the issue. Our palms are 20 plus years old and we have never had any issues like this before. He said is could remove the dead palm for $400.00. Not only was he arrogant but he was rude. He didn't deny that he was the cause, but said that we couldn't prove that it was him. We didn't ask for a refund or reimbursement of the $1000 we had to spend on treating the palms, we just asked for him to remove the dead one. Which seems fair under the circumstances. Since the time we had him out, we have heard from multiple people that have had similar experiences with Dean Sutton. Being rude and arrogant seems to be a consistent issue for him. Sadly, I would recommend you that you find a more reputable company to trim your palms and trees. read more

I had two palms removed and a third trimmed. The crew worked fast and cleaned up all the debris and left our yard cleaner than before service. They charged what they quoted - it was a reasonable price and we were happy with the scheduling and payment process. We will call Sutton again for our tree service in the future. read more

I am a retired licensed landscape contractor. I have seen many so called "tree experts". These guys are the best around. As such, they're the only ones that will trim and shape the trees at my home. And, their prices are shockingly reasonable. read more

They do the bare minimum. Trees look shaggy and sucker branches not removed. I asked him to take notes during the inspection, but he said he would remember. I should have taken notes myself, as they missed a few trees and now they want to charge me extra. Some of these are evident (touching the roof of the house). Just like most service providers these days, they don't appreciate the business we clients provide. Overall, not worth the premium they charge. read more

Needed a 40 ft palm tree removed. Not in an accessible position to a cherry picker. So the tree man had to climb up and slowly cut away the dead fronds and then the live ones. Him and his assistant were incredible. They worked very hard, very conscientiously and made sure everything was cleaned up at the end. I'm very happy I decided to use Sutton. read more

They came in, kicked ass, and cleaned up the mess. Recommended. Odds and ends - The crew that came was self managed. No "Jefe", only workers. - The younger guy speaks English, so no worries when you have a question. - I even asked the guys to cut the pine trees into pieces that would fit into my fireplace. They did and stacked up the logs nicely. - Cleaned up everything. read more

We've used this local company for many years. Today Carlos and his partner came and ended up with a much bigger job than originally anticipated. I appreciate the communication from Carlos regarding the work that needed to be done and eventhough the job went longer, the original estimate was honored. Thanks! and Dean, please pass on my compliments to your team. read more

EXCELLENT!! I found them on Yelp and they had good reviews. From the first call to the tree trim they were professional quick and efficient. I highly recommend them and will use them next year. The two men that came were so sweet and knowledgable. The main guy walked around my property suggesting things and asking me a lot of questions so I would be happy. I'm HAPPY!! My trees got brutalized from Beatles and the drought and they needed a good trim. Thanks again!! read more

I'm here to let you know that Sutton Tree Service is our "go to" company for weed abatement. They have faithfully cleared a vacant parcel of ours in San Marcos for years. Each year, they reliably cut down our little jungle of weeds and turn our shaggy property into a shining example of a well-maintained piece of land. Their prices are exceptionally fair. Dealing with them is incredibly easy. read more

Look no further. These folks did a wonderful job!Our yard has a Japanese Zen feel. Most of the time when you see that trees have been pruned & trimmed around town they look as if they have been literally butchered. We were well overdue to have our trees thinned and extremely concerned of what they could look like afterwards. We met with Mr. Sutton, shared our concerns and asked if he could do what needed to be done and finish as if no one had been here. He sent in a crew of 5 talented men, worked all day and removed an enormous amount of dead wood and overgrowth. The end result is our yard and trees look absolutely beautiful and you would never know they had been here and done all the work they did. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. We have included some photos that give you an idea but unfortunately they really don't do full justice of the magnificent job they did! read more

Dennis & Luis were great. In spite of the hot weather they never seemed to slow down. We had 2 trees topped about 15+ feet each. From start to finish they were very thoughtful and courteous. We were also impressed with the after trimming clean up! Great company and very reasonable prices. read more

Last week we scheduled to have several trees shaped and trimmed and one pepper tree removed. Sutton tree services is who I chose to use. I am so very pleased. Dean Sutton is who came and gave me the estimate, friendly and professional is how I would describe him. On the day that service was to be done Dean arrived early, when the men arrived he went over the plan with them to make sure we were well taken care of. What hard workers, how wonderful our trees look, how well they shredded every piece and cleaned up. I cannot express how wonderful they were. I'm sure our trees will need more in a few years, I will not get other bids, I will call Sutton Tree service! read more

I recently needed some help on my property of a half acre in Vista. As I called around I ran into the typical lack of customer service and high prices we have been so accustomed to expect. Than I happened upon Sutton Tree Service. The friendliness, knowledge and sense of humor of the young lady who answered the phone to the service and advice of the gentleman who came out to the house was top notch. I would not hesitate to use Sutton Tree Service if I need some more help with my property. V/R, Marcus Malatesta read more

Dean came out to our place to give us a quote and was a complete ass. maybe cuz it was the start of the morning, maybe was just in a crappy mood, but regardless shouldn't have to put up with crappy customer service. Called him out to get a quote on removing a tree in my front yard. When he arrived he was immediately very arrogant and unpleasant to be around. When I showed him the tree I want removed he had the balls to say "Why do you want that removed? It's a nice tree." Seriously??? Your job is not to tell me what or what not I want. Well, he ended up quoting a ridiculous price, basically because he didn't want to do the job which is fine with me as I wouldn't have used his company even if the price was competitive since he was such an ass. Do not use these guys, look elsewhere!! read more

Great service I have used for several years. Easy to schedule, arrives on time, but more important very professional care of trees. Understood new fire safety regulations to prune away from roofline. Great cleanup. Happy to recommend to others who love their trees and want the best care. read more

I joined Yelp just to warn others to STAY AWAY from this company! They charged much more then their estimate. My sweet elderly mother called me sobbing after her experience with Sutton tree service. They failed to communicate with her prior to doing work that was not neccessary ( so that they could charge more). They were very disrespectful to her. They left tracks with their vehicle. There are plenty of other companies to go to so stay away from this one!!! read more

SOO disappointed. I called Sutton Trees back to look at the work they had done as too many stumps and roots were left. I was told by the owner, who had helped me the first time, that he'd be back out within the next couple of weeks to clean up the rest of the roots. 3 months later, still waiting. Update 2: 5 months and still can't get them back out here....trees are growing back. Majorly disappointed. read more

We had a small job for these folks, just one tree. They did a good job. The tree looks good and a lot safer. They didn't damage the house, no one got hurt, and they cleaned up completely after themselves. They were a lot faster than I expected and it was a little scary watching the man with the saw in the tree, but he seemed very competent and confident. I am pleased and two of my closest friends even commented on how good the yard looks now. read more

The best....used them for years. Fair prices, excellent work. I cannot say enough good about them. Highly recommended; the best in San Diego County. read more

This company cut down our neighbor's tree and damaged our fence. Not once did they approach us regarding the damage. We have called multiple times and spoke to the owner, but he made excuses for his team's mistake. Not a single apology or call back after multiple requests to fix the part they knocked down. We spoke directly to the owner, and received a rude response to the situation. I would not recommend this company due to the lack of professionalism and ownership of their actions. Poor to say the least. Go somewhere else to get the Jon done. read more

Far and away the best we have dealt with. Best quality, best people and very competitive pricing. Excellent service, the guys worked great and trimmed our tree to our full satisfaction. I really recommend this Company!

I asked Sutton Tree Service to come out and untangle a kite that has gotten tangeled in a cable that we had secured to a palm in my front yard. Last summer they came out and trimmed my palm with all the dead leaves and charged me $100 which I found reasonable. At that time I had them attach a pulley and cable to the top of the palm so we could fly some Halloween ghosts over our driveway. So I had a kite that became entangled in the cable and requested for them to come out (when they had a truck in the neighborhood) to come out and simply remove the kite. They decided that $200 would be necessary, even though there would be no cleanup needed! They have been removed from my list of honest companies. I guess they don't know that they are not the only company available! Kind of dumb, but their loss.......... read more

I had sutton do a 50 ft ca pepper tree they did an awesome job. very professional job.

I called Sutton Tree Service because a very large tree in my backyard developed a spilt between a large branch and the trunk. The branch was leaning toward the house and this became an emergency situation. Dean came out immediately and was able to offer advice on preventing a disaster until he could schedule his crew. Even though this happened during his busy season, he managed to fit the job in and sent his crew out the next day. They worked all day in the rain and not only removed the broken branch, but trimmed the tree in such a way as to make it healthier and more attractive. I highly recommend Sutton! read more

I received great service from Sutton Tree Service. They gave a fair bid and showed up ON TIME to do the job as promised. They even cleaned up my driveway, stacked the firewood, and left my yard nicer than it was when they arrived. It is nice to do business with companies that still hold true to some customer service values. Thanks Sutton! Would definitely recommend you to family and friends. read more

Sutton Tree Care did an outstanding job removing a large tree from our back yard. The tree had very prolific and aggressive roots and the guys who did the job not only made sure that all of the visible roots were removed, but they also dug deep to ensure most of the roots beneath the surface were removed as well. The landscapers who worked on our yard after the tree was removed commented on how good of a job the Sutton guys did. Very professional, prompt and thorough, I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing tree work done. read more

Very professional and honest tree trimming company! I was extremely impressed with Dean (owner) as he described how they would trim up all my trees and hedges without harming them in the process! Very straight shooter with honest prices! Crew was exceptional as well. Couldn't recommend them enough for your tree maintenance projects. Beware of other tree trimming services out there! We are a small HOA that needed to remove 14 Podocarpus trees. Sutton Tree and Land Care owner, Dean came out to see the project. He is prompt, efficient, no-nonsensical and a right to the point kind of guy. He gave the best quote for the job. On the agreed day, precisely at the promised time, a 2-person crew arrived, did an excellent, thorough, job and nicely cleaned up the area after they had finished. This was the second time we've used Sutton Tree Service and we highly recommend them. The communication with Christine at their office was also very pleasant - she's very helpful and friendly. Five stars for Sutton Tree Service Company! If we'll have another occasion when we need tree service, we'll surely call Dean! read more

These guys were fantastic from start to finish! Professional and hard working, they did a great job from. I highly recommend this company!

We have used Sutton on three occasions. They did a fantastic job, and were 100% hassle free, no mess was left behind (I couldn't even tell they were here) and good prices too. We are hard customers to please and we wouldn't use anyone else while Sutton is around. They removed three palms and ground down the stumps. One was a very difficult job because we had a triple king palm growing side by side a Mexican fan palm we wanted removed (these were 20' trees) and Sutton managed to remove the fan palm and saved the king. They just completed trimming a huge (15' high) cactus that we love and were concerned about having anyone trim it. Kristen asked Dean (the owners) to come out personally to take a look and we spoke about what we had in mind. The job turned out great and we Iove the shape of the cactus! read more

Been using Sutton Tree Service for 13 years in all, now at our second residence nine years. Dean shows up, usually early, and gives his honest assessment of our needs. Last month he told me we could wait another season on a carrotwood trim. He did three olives and 14 queen palms. The crews arrive as scheduled and go to work. They move furniture and breakable items before they begin. The crews are personable and respond quickly to all our requests (e.g., a little more here and there). The crews clean everything up, even on the street. You can't go wrong using Sutton Tree Service, and the costs are very reasonable. A satisfied customer. read more
