My experience with this company was not pleasant at all. Not only did Alfonso (the person providing the quote) try to raise the price on me and gaslight me into thinking the price was the same (fortunately I had screenshot of him offering the original price), but after he provided the quote he kept texting and asking if we made a decision. To me it came off as very unprofessional, not to mention annoying. Once I showed him the original price from his previous text, he agreed to honor the price. We'll that didn't last long. A day went by, and when I asked him if we could set a time to schedule the work, he said he couldn't do the work "for reasons that I can't explain." Talk about unprofessional. He completely wasted my time. It makes me wonder, does he only accept jobs when he successfully convinces customers to pay higher prices than he originally quoted? Does he lure them in with one price only to change the price when it's time to move forward, like a bait and switch operation? The only reason. I gave him an extra star was because I'm hoping that this was just one experience with one employee, and that the rest of the company doesn't operate this way. Alfonso and his team have done several large and small jobs for us over the years and we always call them when we need tree/shrub work done. They have cleared out large amounts of shrub for firebreaks, thinned out our large eucalyptus tree, and performed annual trimming of our 100+ fruit tree grove on a steep slope. Rainforest did work for me last month.I was very happy with this company and said so in a review (5 stars) However I do not see my endorsement/review here.So... once again I will give my solid recommendation to Alfonso and his crew.They took out a huge ,hard to get to Ficus tree in my backyard,hauled it out to the street ,chipped it up and hauled it away in under 4 hours. I took 5 bids and they were right in the middle,not the lowest or highest, but they had done some work for us on another tree earlier last year and my wife was very happy with the way they cleaned up after themselves so the decision was actually easy. Update(10/14/17): After onsite evaluation by a different contractor, I was told that the stump is still there. I was able to reach Alfonso this time and he came to look at it. Alfonso's explanation: What I paid for was 'stump grinding' and not 'stump removal'. If I didn't want this happening, I should've gotten stump removal, which was more expensive. My dilemma: At the initial consultation, I made it clear that I didn't want the tree to sprout back everywhere, thus I chose stump removal, which was one of the two choices he offered that day. I'm not sure how I could have chosen this '3rd' option when it wasn't even explained/offered to me. It only took less than 2 months for the 'ground' stump to sprout back uncontrollably. When I reached out to him, I was told to use Round-Up (weed killer) and he didn't return to the site to investigate. Next 2 months, my husband applied Round-Up multiple times (it did nothing) and tried to dig out thick roots and what we now know as pieces from the tree stump. We spent a lot of time trying to fix it on our own and our yard looks terrible. I also have to hire a new contractor to fix it, which is an added expense. Resolution: Alfonso refunded a portion of my bill from June. While some companies walk away from a situation like this, his company didn't. While I still feel resentful with how the situation was handled, this gives us a closure to our stressful 2 months and we are now moving on. I'm also changing my one star review on 10/7/17 to 3 stars because the company deserves it for not walking away. My post on 10/7/17 Sadly, I have to post an update...a negative one. Shortly after Alfonso removed a tree from our backyard, the roots started popping out everywhere, totally ruining our newly installed landscape. At the initial consultation, he gave me two options; removal including the stamp (more expensive) OR leaving the stamp (less expensive). I chose 'with stamp' option because I was concerned leaving the stamp will cause the tree to sprout again and he agreed. After the tree started sprouting everywhere, I asked him to come take a look, hoping that he'd provide a resolution or at least give us some advice/suggestions but he stopped responding to my text after saying 'you can use round-up'. We went and got Round-Up, applied it 3 or 4 times but it is not helping. I didn't think he would stop responding like this. I still like the fact that he speaks English and rates are good (I think) but I also want to make sure that I share correct information here because I know people use these reviews as resources and guidelines when choosing businesses. read more

I was in need of 2 Queen Ann palm trees to be cleaned up and since they both have outgrown my pruning saw, I was looking for a local company (insured, bonded and licensed) that could do it for me. Luckily, my wife saw Rain Forest doing another job in the neighborhood and after checking on the stellar reviews on yelp I called them up. Alfonso answered the phone right away and said that he would be by a little later in the day to provide a bid. Once he arrived, he gave me a very reasonable price and said that they would be able to do it today if I would like. So, I took him up on his offer and his team showed up after they were finished with the neighboring yard. Within one-hours' time, both palms were all cleaned up, debris and frons mulched up and area as clean as they found it (maybe even better). What else could a homeowner ask for. I will definitely recommend Alfonso and his team to anyone looking for tree work in my area as well as will look to Rain Forest in the future for my arborist needs. read more
