It's usually a waste of time to write a review of a business that has 150 5-star reviews. How much more can one review contribute? But this company and its owner are extraordinary, and I would feel remiss if I didn't add my voice to the flood of 5-stars. We have a giant Ficus tree in our yard. 35 or 40 feet tall. Like all Ficus, it grows rapidly and gets bushy. It needs to be cut back. Twice in the past we have had it trimmed, and we were very unhappy with the results. My wife started to cry when she saw the tree after that first trimming; the second time she growled "butcher job" and refused to look at it for months. It looked like it had (barely) survived a forest fire. A few days ago Santos Peña and his crew came here to work on the tree, and the result is delightful. Instead of lopping off limbs wholesale, they climbed up into the tree and thinned it out, leaving most of the big branches and many of the smaller leafy branches. It looks like a tree now. His fee was quite reasonable. I've already made a calendar entry for next year when we'll bring them back to update and adjust. And during that year it will be pretty. One final note: his name is Santos Peña, with a tilde over the ñ. He said he couldn't get Yelp to accept that punctuation. read more

Santos came out and reviewed the two cypress trees that needed to be removed and was able to get us a quote very quickly. We decided to proceed with the quote and within thr same day was given the date and time available for our service which was super quick! We got our quote on a Thursday and had our appointment for the tree removal on Tuesday. Santos and the crew made sure to protect all windows and home on my side and my neighbors side od the house. I'll be the 189th 5-star review for Santos Pena Tree Services! I hired Santos to remove a huge pine tree, and his crew did an excellent job - - quick and efficient, with careful clean-up of both my patio and my next door neighbor's yard, taking care not to damage any plants under the tree's canopy. I always get at least two estimates for any job, and Santos' estimate was lower than the other, for the exact same work. And one thing to consider - Santos brought a crew of 3 or 4 other people, and they completed the job in approx. 2 hours - - and the equipment (saws, grinders, powerful leaf blowers) is very noisy. The other tree guy would have had only one helper, and he estimated the work would take at least 4 hours - - which would have meant loud noise for twice the time (and your neighbors will thank you if the work can be completed quickly!) And as much as I dislike the idea of removing a mature and healthy tree, it was a fire hazard and a nuisance, and my patio looks SO much better now that it's gone! read more

We are new to citrus trees and, after researching on google how to trim them, decided we were better off hiring a professional. We reached out on Yelp to find an experienced arborist to trim our citrus trees. Santos responded to our request for a quote immediately. He was able to come out and look at our trees within 2 hours. We were glad we worked with him as we discovered our trees were infected with several different types of insects. We thought the fruit was twisted and distorted because of lack of water. Santos was honest and fair, offering to give us the information so we could spray for insects ourselves. He also noted that the trees should not be trimmed, as it would shock them. This time of season and that we should wait until january to truly cut them back. All of the information he provided was in line with the research we had found. We decided to hire Santos to come and spray the trees, he cut back the sucklings that were taking over our trees, and sprayed organic treatment to help get our trees back to health. I needed palm trees cleaned and trimmed and also an eyesore of a tree needed to be cut down. Santos is great--I've had him come out a couple of times for trimming and removal, and he always does an excellent job. Communication is clear, pricing is fair, and he works hard right alongside his crew. What really sets Santos apart from the "roving tree trimmers" is that he cares about trees and knows how to trim them without butchering them. I believe he's working on his arborist certification/degree which is impressive. He is interested in the health of the tree and the art of trimming (just enough trimming and shaping of the tree or whatever you prefer). A few trees I had trimmed by other tree trimmers left me worried if they'd ever grow back, and one of my trees became brittle/less heathy.
