Fantastic sushi spot. The rolls are great. The beer menu is pretty standard and the sake menu is as well but this spot is great.

Sushi restaurants are open, yay!!! My family and I were excited to finally be able to get out and eat sushi. We've been to this place a few times and it was obviously good enough to come back to. Some restaurants are taking reservations only so we called yesterday to make a reservation and they told us it was first come first serve. Sushimi's is fairly close to our house so we jump in the car and make the short 3 minute drive. When I went Inside to get a table they told me it would be about an hour to an hour and a half wait and they would call me when our table is ready. So, I put my name on the list and go for a drive. An hour goes by, an hour and a half goes by...no call. So I go back and ask when our table would be ready and they tell me, in about 30 minutes. Oh forget it! I ended up ordering pizza and taking it home. I would have cooked dinner at home had I known. Well, we didn't give up and decided to go back the next day for lunch. Again, I go put my name on the list and they tell me it's a 45 minute wait. So I drove home to do a few things. 15 minutes later they call me and tell me that my table is ready haha. We jump in the car and race over there so we don't loose our table. At last, we are seated and place our order. We ordered a la cart which ended up coming to the same price as all you can eat for a family of 5. Usually when we order a la cart the pieces of sushi are a little bigger. When ordering all you can eat, the pieces of sushi are really small and not as fresh looking, our reason for ordering a la cart. Anyhow, the sushi was definitely not fresh. The tuna was discolored and I was completely disappointed. I'm not sure I could ever eat sushi at Sushimi's again. It was actually gross! and to top It off there wasn't any hand soap in the restrooms. On another note our waitress was nice and attentive and the tea was good. read more

I was happy to be introduced to Sushimi's by some friends. It's the BEST sushi in Reno. The sushi chefs work incredibly quickly and incredible hard to get sushi out fast. Sushi in Reno is not ever hard to find. There is so much competition in Reno that it would be wise to at least be courteous to your customers. We arrived with four people, and two of us didn't want AYCE. The waiter thought that we did this to take advantage and not pay for two extra AYCE. He came over to our table and harshly reminded us that, because our friends ordered so much, he was going to charge us extra for any food they didn't eat and if he saw us picking from their rolls, he would charge us as well. When our entrees came, the meat was very dry and chewy, and didn't taste fresh at all. The entire time we were in the restaurant, the waiter kept his eye on us. The funny thing is that he didn't ask us how we were doing at all, he just walked by and eyed our table. Sushimi's moved to a more spacious space in the same little complex on Skyline. The restaurant is beautiful! The bar is gorgeous and they have an amazing patio. The menu and food and drink selections...all great! So why three stars from me?? It was way too expensive. Two adults and one child for all-you-can-eat lunch with NO alcohol, just sodas, was just under $100. Over $100 because we tip 20%. I am sorry but that is outrageous. Most places offer kids a discounted price. My son had miso, mussels and one roll. That beautiful dining room at 12:30 pm....mostly empty. I don't think we missed the lunch rush. There are a lot of great sushi places in town, we always liked Sushimi's but we cannot justify the prices. I understand costs for supplies, and transportation for fresh fish and all the other escalating costs you restauranteurs must deal with have undoubtedly increased. And that is so unfortunate! Terribly dirty! The entire place is dirty and it makes you worried about what you are eating. The counter was barely cleaned and had not been cleaned. Multiple sushi chefs touched their hair and wiped their noses WITH gloves on. The sushi stations were falling apart and there are stains everywhere! Look, there is NO good sushi in Reno, but we live with the subpar stuff because that's all there is. I had been going to this place at least once a week, if not more, for about a year now. Ever since covid, I've been over-tipping to excess. I mean, sometimes I have been tipping over 40%. I went this afternoon with one other person, we ordered three rolls, and some pieces of sushi. We got our appetizer about ten minutes after our meal, and at least one of the rolls was rancid and disgusting. The person I was with made a very obvious move to the bathroom after putting one of the pieces of sushi in his mouth and into his napkin. I didn't complain, because honestly I thought I had kind of a relationship with these people, and I get that sometimes that people have an off day. We left some stuff behind and the server tells us that we have to pay for the rolls that we didn't eat because they had a "waste" charge. Now NO ONE came and asked us how the food was, and I figured it would be a small charge and we'd both walk away annoyed but okay. Nope ... for three rolls and a couple pieces of sushi they charged me $120 bucks. You know that there is no way around the "all you can eat" crap here. There is no way to order À la carte and still get the same bill. They have this figured out, and that's fine. I get that you want to stay in business, but this was punitive and mean, and I will never be back. This is a place that you should avoid like the plague. Get bad sushi where they're not dishonest. If they had this policy that was this punitive and spiteful, I'd imagine they'd post it somewhere, or at least if they see someone only ate one piece of something, at least ask why?! Right?! The waiter that I had completely over-tipped for months now, didn't feel the least bit bad, and ... well hard feelings abound. Get your bad sushi somewhere else, trust me. read more

Yum! I give this sushi joint a solid 4.5/5. Everything was delicious, the sushi chef that we sat in front of was kind and excited to be there. They have a lot of rolls with some unique ingredients in them like fried leeks, mango, pineapple, habanero sauce. The only thing I didn't like was the music and overall ambience, the lighting is weird, and the music was kind of depressing early 200's sad love songs. After reading a really negative review from a recent customer, I felt compelled to write a review of our favorite neighborhood sushi establishment. We have tried most of the places around town. This is our favorite for two reasons. First, the fish is as fresh as it gets. Second, the crew is friendly and visibly bonded with a team mindset. Sushimi's immediately became a favorite in town when it opened and have been coming regularly since the opening. Today was the first time I had a bad experience. They changed the menu, and removed almost every since item I liked. The CJ nigiri was highlight for me and several rolls including the Hot Night and 007. We also had to reorder appetizers twice and they still never arrived. I don't know what happened and why the menu was shortened, but between that and the declining service, I probably won't be back. We love going to this place! Great sushi. The only problem we ever have, why this isn't five stars, is calling in for pickup. Tonight, I called for pickup and was told to hold for a couple minutes. After 15 minutes of being on hold, I had someone else call while I was on hold. They got through and had their order taken immediately. I wanted to like this place, but I don't. Sushi was ok, nothing stood out as being amazing, just average to below average. The service was slow and spotty, my kids would get refills on their waters, but my wife's empty ice tea was ignored until she flagged the waitress down. Our Chef did ok, he reminded me of someone who hates their job and didn't want to be there. He seemed annoyed anytime we would order. He was super slow, but after we received our first rolls his slower pace didn't really matter. I noticed a lot of the Chefs wiping their face, nose and hair with their gloved hands then go back to making sushi without washing hands or replacing their gloves. Ugh The icing on the cake was the Chefs cussing back and forth at each other really loudly in Spanish. We understand Spanish so we were "lucky enough" to know what they were saying. Bottom line, I hope the Owner reads this and shares with his Manager and staff. We will not be back and word travels fast in our town. read more

I was very interested in trying this restaurant since the on-line menu included not only sushi but also bento boxes with many of my Japanese favorites. We were seated on the outdoor patio which was pleasant enough and includes an amazing view of downtown Reno. The chairs, however, are extremely uncomfortable and provide no back support. We were there for lunch and filled out the checklists for three sushi rolls and one bento box. The waitress brought out the ice tea that we had ordered and tasted like someone whispered "iced tea" over a glass of water. Two of the rolls came out. I had the tekka maki which was delicious and very fresh tasting. My friend had the Border roll which she said was very good. I then received a bowl of miso soup since I ordered the bento box. It was some of the most delicious miso soup I've had. It was full of flavor which can be a challenge for miso soup. I ordered the teriyaki beef bento box and this is where the disappointment began. The teriyaki beef consisted of small pieces of beef that tasted boiled and had no teriyaki sauce on it at all. There were three small shrimp tempura that had a heavy, soggy batter. The dipping sauce was nearly tasteless. The salad in the box had virtually no dressing on it and was merely a small amount of sliced purple cabbage. About three quarters of the way through my meal, the waitress asks my friend if she'd like more sushi. We never received the Macho roll that she ordered at the beginning of the meal and when we m Ed motioned it, the waitress had no idea what we were talking about. My friend pointed out that she had ordered two rolls, one being deep fried. Waitress had no clue. My friend then ordered another roll which was brought out and my friend enjoyed it. When the bill came there were four rolls on the bill (the tekka maki, the Border roll received, the Macho roll never received and the King king roll ordered as a replacement for the Macho roll). We pointed out the discrepancy to the waitress who went and got the check off sheet used when ordering saying we had ordered all the rolls. We reminded her that we never received the Macho roll. She went away and came back with a Macho roll on a plate saying it had been sitting on the counter. We had already finished our meal and we're paying the bill. We stated that it wasn't our fault she forgot to deliver the roll when it was first made. She left the table which we thought meant she was going to adjust the bill but she came back with a to go box and said you ordered this so you take home. Her attitude was rude and blaming the customer for her failure as a server. Very disappointing customer service after very disappointing food. read more

This is really closer to a 3.5. The sushi here is good, but not too impressive. Rolls that would compare to other sushi restaurants in town are usually not quite as good as elsewhere, however they have a few rolls I've never seen anywhere else that are really quite delicious. The service is pretty good, but spotty seeming over bearing or like I'm not able to get enough help with no in between. Overall it's pretty good, but not the best place in town. read more

The appetizers were pretty okay except the mussels didn't seem to be cleaned properly, there were like weird hair like strands in them? The rolls came out and were pretty average, except the server couldn't tell us which rolls were which. Even when we asked her to tell us after the first round of rolls, she said she "didn't know" and walked away. We ordered one roll that had lemon in it and it was so bad that none of us could eat it. Cant say enough good things about this place. I found them on Instagram a while back. So after I finally moved to Reno, my 1st day there I had to try it. The drive was there beautiful and the location itself was nice. There is lots of windows. The food itself was bomb.com and i mean that. Every roll i had was as good or better than the last.
