I can't speak for the sushi this time, I have been here a while ago and the sushi was mid. My biggest complaint is customer service. It wasn't super busy when we came in, and 3 different employees looked at us and then walked away and didn't acknowledge us, we stood there for 10 mins being ignored before the guy at the bar finally flagged someone down and made them come talk to us. They quoted us a 30 min wait (even tho it wasn't busy and there were tables available that we could see- it was just 2 of us). We decided to leave and eat somewhere else. I used to love coming to Sushimis, which is why this last visit was so frustrating. First off, when you walk in there's no hostess or clear place to check in. There were two parties waiting before us and it took about 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge them. Then another 5 minutes before someone finally asked how many were in their party. When we were finally spoken to, we were told 15 minutes, which was fine. Then two groups came in after us saying they had reservations, and the employee helping them didn't even know where the reservation list was. That pretty much summed up the communication situation there. After we were seated, it took another 15 minutes before anyone came to ask if we had our order sheet ready. We turned in our appetizer order and started marking our sushi rolls. We also ordered a bento box for our daughter since she isn't the biggest sushi fan. One appetizer came out, and a waitress was literally walking toward our table with soy sauce dishes and plates, but suddenly stopped and went to the table next to us. She started chatting with them like she knew them, took their order, filled out their form, and gave them the dishes she was bringing to us. We ended up having to ask someone else for ours. The bento box took about 40 minutes to come out, and by then my daughter had already eaten appetizers because she was so hungry. It really feels like they don't assign servers to specific tables and instead have everyone "help" every table. In theory that sounds great, but here it clearly doesn't work because the communication is terrible. Honestly, this was the worst sushi dining experience I've had, which is really disappointing because this used to be one of the go to spots. read more

WE GOT CUCKED!!! Genuinely the worst service I've ever experienced in any establishment, in my entire life. Every moment felt like a humiliation ritual. I don't think I'll ever feel the need to write another Yelp review, as this is probably rock bottom. It can't possibly get worse from here. TLDR; It all started when no host was seating people and we had to meander around until someone noticed us. They asked how many and then told us 10-15min. About 10 minutes later, a separate host then took names down of people that had since shown up and we had to interject that we had been waiting which was very awkward. We then observed the second man pointing at us while discussing with the first guy in some strange confrontation in the kitchen. After another 10 minutes we got seated. We deliberated and ordered an all you can eat round via a printed sheet about 10 minutes later. We got our edamame and then waited for our sushi. After about 30 minutes we noticed something was wrong when the table next to us sat down, ordered, and received their food before our order came. It became apparent they gave our order to the table next to us when they seemed confused about two dishes that we had certainly ordered, which the other table accepted anyway. Our thought process went from "low tip", to "no tip", to "should we just leave?". When the waiter came back and asked if we were ready with our orders, we replied that he took our order card long ago. The waiter then went to give us another card to re-order and we had to decline and ask to pay for the edamame we had received and leave. To top it off, the guy gave us change for 85¢ consisting of 8 dimes and 5 pennies, which served as a comical reminder of the service we have experienced. The In-N-Out was great though! read more

If my reading was based on friendly service alone, I give them more, but the sushi itself left me wanting a bit more. Frankly there were some hits and some misses, but overall, that's my take and this just isn't my spot for sushi. I popped into order takeout and try this place because it was conveniently located in my route and I needed to pick up some sushi for dinner. I found the restaurant mildly busy and grabbed a seat at the bar, scoped out the menu and placed my order. We really enjoy sushi with raw fish in it and avoid a lot of the cooked items. Unfortunately this menu has a lot of cooked rolls and not as many raw rolls so it took me a while to find a few that we'd enjoy. I also noticed that this menu seems to have a lot of repetition and duplication where a majority of ingredients are the same with one new one added here there so all it appears to have a lot of variety but in reality it doesn't. The selection I made was the best of what was an offer and the ratios of efficient and rice were good. The seasoning on the rice was good too. Sadly, it took a long time to get our order and that was a bit surprising because there weren't that many people dining that evening. On the whole, this was just an average Sushi experience for us and not one that I'd seek out. Maybe all you can eat is better but the takeout experience was just OK. read more

The first part of my review is when I first visited last year. The sushi was okey but not incredibly fresh. My husband doesn't care for raw fish so he got a bento box, he thought it was just fine. The second time we got it to go since it's just 5 minutes away from our house so that's why we've been there a couple of times. This second time I was super disappointed with the quantity and quality of the order, needless to say we won't be going or ordering again! Solid place for sushi and Bentos. Ordered takeout and everything was packaged perfectly. The firecracker rolls are amazing here. We also ordered a Katsu bento and wow! This is actually one of my favorite all you can eat sushi places in West Reno. The sushi chefs are always very efficient and attentive to the needs of the diners especially at the bar. Our server was on point with drink refills and all the sushi (rolls, hand rolls, sashimi and nigiri) were well prepared and stands out from most of the sushi places in town. TL;DR Solid sushi but lacking in providing the best possible service After reading some of the more recent reviews on the service of this place I was a little skeptical however after trying the food I believe that the reviews regarding the service do a disservice to the actual meal they provide. The food was delicious and savory and the sancho roll we had was spicy and savory. I do feel that they did mess up on one of our rolls replacing it with a rainbow roll but that was delicious as well. The server also did forget to refill my water but overall the dining experience was pleasant. In all honesty the ambiance wasn't horrible the restaurant does have a beautiful overlook of Reno, however I'm just tired of the harsh white, gray and black colors I see with most restaurants these days. read more

I dropped in for lunch the other day and it quickly filled up right after I was seated. This was my first visit and the dining room was spacious and clean. The owner took my order and he was very friendly and made his rounds. He gave all of us the perfect amount of attentiveness. My food was great and came out fairly quickly. I was happy to get my fix on my lunch break. My only recommendation is fixing your prices on your menu to reflect the actual prices, some people would have a cow about change on the dollar. My husband picked up a large takeout order from here this week when my son was sick. I was so pleased with everything that he ordered. The fish was super tasty and fresh and all the rolls were the right proportions. I am a sushi purist and my favorite rolls were the spicy tuna, salmon, and yellowtail/scallion. I NEVER leave poor service reviews as my husband is also in the restaurant industry and know how hectic things can be however this is an exception. We came in around 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon with a party of six. I ordered a teriyaki bento box while the rest of party ordered the "all you can eat sushi". After waiting 30 minutes while the rest of my party got several of their rolls, I asked about my order. It took another 10 minutes and did not come with the tempura, California roll of miso soup. Our busser was the only person who seemed to notice our table and was the one to ask about my order. What should've been a 45 minute dining experience dragged on for an hour and a half. My party had several rolls that were ordered never make it to the table. Our water glasses sat empty for most of the time and were filled once. The food I did receive was poor. My rice was hard like it had been sitting out and the chicken was low quality. The rest of the party enjoyed what rolls they received but said they were small in size. My party also put in a dessert order as we paid the bill. After waiting another 20ish minutes without it ever arriving - we left. The restaurant had an empty bar and tables with staff often standing around or disappearing to the kitchen for lengths of time. Our initial server seemed to disappear for most of our visit. The only highlight of the experience was the busser who was consistent in clearing the table of dishes and taking the time to go above his duties to check in on my order. Then I showed up, and we ended up waiting another 30-40 minutes without anyone even acknowledging us. No "we'll be right with you," no offer for drinks, nothing. The crazy part? We watched at least 4 other groups walk in after us, get seated right away, get drinks, and even get their food while we were still just sitting there being completely ignored. A little small on the fish servings but overall the food was good, not spectacular, but par for most Reno restaurants. We've tried so many other sushi spots because they have higher ratings, and every single time we leave thinking the same thing: nothing compares to Sushimis. I've been going to this place for three years. Even before I moved to Reno. Reno doesn't have many good options , my fiancé delivers to many kitchens so we don't eat where kitchens are dirty or food is on the floor such as sadly a good chunk of restaurants in Reno. But they do keep everything cleaned , they even allow you to make your own rolls. His sister is has celiac disease so they even make sushi for her and clean area for her rolls. I don't understand why people complain on the size, I like the sizes. I don't need giant rolls. I think it's perfect size to be eaten. The only reason why I'm rating this place a 4 is because their sushi didn't hit "the spot" as in, it was good but my top sushi joints here in Reno will always be my favorite. Their appetizers were also good but didn't hit my "core". Service was awesome, friendly and quick. I went on a non-busy time so it was pretty nice to have the food come in so quickly. Wasn't sure if they were the owners and they weren't our server but a woman asked how everything was going and then twenty mins later a man asked how everything was going, gave me the impression how important good service is being met. 5 star review is well deserved for the staff and quality of the all you can eat sushi for a party of 11 people. Our server, Steve was excellent as he catered to our needs as one big party as I am sure it wasn't easy to handle during the dinner rush. My reservation was set two weeks prior to the date and the wait time didn't take long between the staff cleaning and setting up our table. The sushi was amazing, fresh and tasty. Our sushi came out before the appetizers but I understand how most sushi restaurants cook in the back so I wasn't too concerned since I was getting my nigiri served to share with the group. Most of the party was pleased with how the rolls came out and even said "this is the best King Kong roll I've tasted!". The green tea ice cream at the end was fresh and not too frozen. Since it was my first time being here I would likely come again to conquer AYCE with the friends who actually knew how to share the sushi. I am overdue for an updated review. These days, I order a lot of food by delivery app, so when it comes to sushi, I've been paying a la cart instead of taking advantage of AYCE. While sushimi's doesn't have any combo deals, their prices aren't too crazy to me, but mostly, they follow directions! They have always accommodated any modifications I request and also the ingredients are always fresh. With the price of ayce anyways, I can order enough husband and I to each get 3 rolls, some nigiri and sometimes an app for what I'd pay for 2 ayce experiences sitting down. The best part is, I'm not uncomfortably bloated or in a sushi coma after either because we can save the rest for later consumption, instead of trying to "get our money's worth". I would say that the rolls aren't necessarily reflective of ordering a la cart, but there is still plenty of fish compared to the rice ratio regardless. This is the only place I order sushi from these days when I'm not dining in, so I highly recommend if you prefer (or have to) to order delivery. Especially if you want to modify some of the rolls. read more

We went here and got the AYCE which was $34 per person. This is pretty standard in the area. Our favorite go to right now is the Mickey Mouse. Salmon with avocado and crab on top. It was really good here! They have multiple spicy long roll options which is what we usually pick. I wouldn't say the service is the best. We had a few people who delivered the rolls who didn't tell us what they were- some of them did tell us. We saw our server maybe once. I had to ask one of the people who deliver the rolls for our check which wasn't a huge deal. If they were busier, this may have been kind of an issue. It used to be an Italian restaurant and they remodeled it somewhat and now the inside is beautiful- it's a great place for a sushi spot. They have a bar you can wait at while you wait to be seated which was nice. We would definitely go back. I'm a big fan of a sushi place that has reasonably sized rolls! I LOVED the little sushi restaurant located right across the street from where I used to live! My boyfriend and I called it "Our spot", and we've been numerous times since we lived there. The sushi chefs are fast, friendly and great at their sushi rolling. Not too much rice. My boyfriend always asks for soy paper, and always gets the same fruity roll. I of course eat all kinds of things. Mussels, quail egg shooters...even their salmon skin is good! I always order a salmon skin hand roll, Miso soup and seaweed salad with my rolls! They have Saki specials with their lunch specials and usually have some kind of oldie but goodie genre or music playing on the radio! I do have to say that I still have my favorite place in town that I prefer over any of them. But for the most part, Sushimi is perfect! This place has recently moved into La Vecchias old spot. Was Closed for two months, reopened 3 days ago. Not a great experience but I will return in a few months in hopes that they have worked out the kinks. I have always liked sushimis and this was just not up to their own standards. Almost positive it was bc of the new location but I have to be honest about my experience. No paper for orders. Everything is digital now But sadly they are having glitching issues and our order didn't go through. It took awhile for our server to notice so It's been 50 mins of waiting... for 3 rolls.. (took an hour). our waiter was great but our second order didn't get in either? He said bc of the new system. Took an hour to get two rolls and my 3rd never came.. ended up having to get it to go along with our to go order for my hubs. Our waiter didn't charge us for our to go order bc of how long it was taking. The fish tasted fresh and good for what I was able to try. As far as the new location Everything echoes (at least for the room we were in). The small room to the right. the music is fun and trendy but loud. It was super hard to hear my son while we were there and we felt shut off from the entire rest of the restaurant. Felt like being in a box;( On a positive note They have the new rounded chopsticks! Hooray! Smooth with no splintering. All the furniture is new the decor is a grey and pink scheme. With bright pink chairs. Very modern. Beautiful light fixtures in the front near the bar area. Our server was on his own so that on top of having a glitchy new system was an issue.
