I love sushi and have tried a ton of different spots but I am not a fan of this place. I wasn't in the mood for fish so I decided to get 3 vegetable rolls which are normally pretty hard to mess up. The regular vegetable roll was ok it was by far the best of the three. The mango roll just wasn't great the mango was really mushy and warm and it just really wasn't great. The last roll I got was the sweet potato roll. I think they should indicate on the menu that this roll is deep fried tempura sweet potato - the very unhealthy kind that I wasn't expecting when the menu just says sweet potato. That roll only came with I think four pieces with huge pieces of deep fried sweet potato, which I ended up just throwing out that entire roll. I won't be going back here and really feel like I wasted my money. I'd also like to note that the menu doesn't indicate that the lunch rolls come with miso soup and a salad, so I ended up ordering a salad for $3.00 not knowing my meal already came with it. All. You. Can. Eat. Sushi! I drove 25 minutes to try this place out with my cousins. They're regulars here. I had to see what the hype was about. It's BYOB. We brought a bottle of wine + the waitress opened the bottle and brought us wine glasses. You fill out a piece of paper and circle all the sushi rolls you want! The special rolls that are normally $10-$15 a roll! well, you can have as much as you want. All for $20 + tax. The quality of the rolls, great! Delicious! Went this week and was disappointed to see my two favorite rolls no longer offered (the Butterfly and Pink Lady). All of the other rolls seem like the usual tuna, salmon, shrimp offering. My husband likes the filet mignon roll which is still on menu. We asked for crabmeat salad 3 times before we got it, so you I can't say service is wonderful. The tea is really weak. The ice cream is really good quality. Bottom line.... If you are in the mood for ok sushi, and a lot of it, you will find good value here If you like interesting rolls, I would go elsewhere. RECOMMENDED Damn.....is this a controversial place or what? I'd been eyeing this place for one of my group's dinners but was a little spooked by the diversity of Yelp opinion. Therefore, I took the opportunity to dine here with another Meetup group on Friday, June 24th to form my own opinion.It features AYCE Sushi/Sashimi/Rolls and Kitchen Items(including dessert) at $21.95. Insane or what? The restaurant is also BYOB. It is located in a strip mall on Stewart Avenue, immediately north of the LIRR tracks. There is ample parking. If you are pressed for time or simply not a good planner, there is an excellent liquor store a few doors away toward the King Kullen which anchors the strip mall. I bought an fruity and delicious Bogle Petite Syrah there for about thirteen bucks. My fellow diners arrived at this dimly lit space and were seated at a large table for twelve.The restaurant was packed with a youthful crowd on this Friday evening. Service here was pretty perfunctory but, when it's AYCE, I do not care. Just show me the food. You order on paper sheets. The restaurant is cheap. They only permit one order sheet each(kitchen and sushi) per four people. I consulted with four others and we placed our orders, which, for the most part, consisted of the lovely array of sushi and rolls which I photographed. The kitchen was very quick in getting our order out, despite being so busy. Let me make this perfectly clear....stay away from the kitchen items and stick to the sushi, sashimi and rolls. While the restaurant is cheap with the former(three small fried calamari rings?), it is generous with the latter. I LOVED that the sushi and rolls were presented in a good fish to rice ratio. This restaurant, in contrast to other AYCE Sushi places, does not pursue the obvious strategy of trying to fill you up with rice(despite the fact that the protein in fish will make you feel full quicker). My three fellow diners consumed a very large platter of Sushi, Sashimi and Rolls, Eel Avocado and Filet Mignon being some of the latter. The fish was extremely fresh and delicious.The Rolls were particularly terrific. I was pleased that the Sushi platter contained an abundant amount of Wasabi and Ginger to season our fish. Unlike some of the other cavonnes at this event we were too full to order a second platter of food.With tip, our individual share of the check came to $29.00. You cannot beat that! How hard is it to find *quality* AYCE Sushi on Long Island? Pretty hard. I made reservations for a group of 6 on a Thursday evening and this place was packed. Everyone was thrilled to find out that this place is BYOB, with a King Kullen on the same block. We ordered more rolls than normal because there was just such an abundance of choices. Each roll sounded more interesting than the last. The roll with banana was my favorite - I can't find the name on the website. The starters were decent but can easily be skipped over to make room for the rolls. The shrimp tempuras were really hot and flaky though, definitely a treat. The rolls come out quick but if you have a food allergy or need something special, be prepared to have a hard time conversing with the staff - they move quick and just want to keep the sushi coming. Only thing that really drew me to this place was their cheap menu options and the fact my friend wanted to do the all you can eat sushi deal. I was hesitant to come because of the negative reviews I had read on yelp in regards to their poor fish quality and lack of freshness but we decided to come for the lunch specials. I ordered two spicy tuna hand rolls because I wasn't in the mood for anything too heavy. Came with miso soup which was cold and gross. Rolls did not taste fresh. My friend ordered the all you can eat which came with absolutely everything! The options were limitless from appetizers to desserts. Sushi was okay nothing too amazing and the apps were absolutely gross. Don't even bother ordering appetizers they are a complete waste of food. The green tea ice cream that we ordered for dessert we found a piece of PLASTIC IN IT. Obviously we were completely appalled.... When I called the waitress over all she could say was "oh. Sorry" as if this particular instance happened all the time at the restaurant. As stated in one of the previous reviews on here, keep in mind that although this place might get you more bang for your buck, this is still RAW SEAFOOD we are talking about. This review shall be titled 'Irony.' I've been to Sushi Time several times and I'm always pleased. Good sushi, everything is fresh, and the price is hard to beat (though most all you can eat sushi places match the price). If you're worried about getting your money's worth order five Filet Mignon rolls and call it a day. I like their sushi. A lot of the rolls taste pretty similar, but that is likely because I am a little picky and tend to stick to crab, tuna, white tail, and salmon rolls. I've never had anything here taste off, or wrong, and though they don't ever tell you which roll is which it gets a little confusing at times. I very much enjoyed the Crazy Monkey roll, which was topped with fried banana and wasabi cream. Very strange, one of the more unique rolls I've had. I also recommend the Angry Bird and the Pink Lady. Stick with the 'specialy' rolls for a more interesting meal. Everyone makes California, Spicy Tuna, shrimp temp, and peanut avocado rolls. The reason I try new sushi places is for the interesting combinations they have made. The service was fine. Took a while to get our waters and first course (edamame and Udon soup), but after that everything came out very quickly. We even got some extra food delivered we didn't order (more on that below). My main problem with Sushi Time and all All-you-can-eat sushi places I've tried is the wasteful ordering process. If I were to ever open my own sushi restaurant I would handle ordering differently. Here they give you the two slips of paper with their rolls and other items on it and you take the pen and make, what? Three marks on it? You then give it in and they take it, make your order, and throw out the paper. Such a huge waste! At my sushi restaurant, I would print the menus once per table on 4x6 paper, put the paper into cheap plastic picture frames, and give everyone a dry erase marker. You can still change the menu as often as you like and only have to print one copy of the menu per table instead of ~10 per customer! Despite what my last name would suggest, I am not the most green conscious person, but this bothers even me a bit. It's not just Sushi Time that does this, either. Anyway, on to the irony: Many of the reviews here claim that their orders were not completely filled, meanwhile we wound up with servers coming and dropping off food we didn't order to our table! It was odd, and once we got their attention, they took the food to the proper table (worrisome, as they didn't know for sure that we didn't touch it [we didn't], but I digress). TL;DR: Good sushi, decent service, wasteful ordering process. Pro-tip: There's a pennysaver coupon for $1-off per person. It's not much, but hey, money back in your pocket. For an all you can eat sushi place the food is quite good. They have a great variety of different rolls and sashimi. Price is reasonable, $19.95 from Mon - Thu and $21.95 from Fri - Sun. You can also BYOB which is great as its right next to a liquor shop and you can pick-up a nice bottle of wine. The food is on the slightly fresher side for an "all you can eat" sushi spot. There are other options if someone in your party doesn't like fish. You can choose from an array of Japanese hot or cold appetizers, soups, tempuras, and meats. It cost $22 a person for all you can eat, and that's not including a drink. If you and your group want alcohol, its BYOB, and they don't charge extra if you bring a bottle or two. Service is OK, the waiters are usually running around and catering to the massive crowds that are always around. It is kinda loud, because again the customers are usually big groups. PSA: If you over order and don't finish your food, they charge you by the pound. I recommend ordering slowly and minimally because you always have the option toi order more. Tucked away in the King Kullen shopping Centre next to the train station, there's plenty of parking here. We went on a Saturday for lunch and found the place half empty because of the snow. We ordered off the AYCE menu, which had a good variety of sushi, sashimi, rolls, and other items. Most of the rolls we had were good combinations. We avoided ordering generic stuff and anything that was heavy on sauce or fruits, so that may have helped. The table favorite was the filet mignon roll which comes with thin beef slices torched on top. I liked that they did not skimp on the avocado but didn't overdo the rice. But the sashimi and sushi items were of poor quality and lackluster. The other items were hit or miss. I ordered Tom Yum soup out of curiosity and it was awful. We shared a few orders of beef ribs. The sweet potato tempura was actually yam (which was another order option) and soggy. But the shrimp tempura we had after that was good. Our server was also inexperienced. He dropped soups off in the same corner of the table even when we vocalized who was getting which soup. He took away plates before we finished the food sometimes. It was very confusing. I felt bad for the guy bc he seemed like he didn't know what he was doing, but we weren't asking for difficult things for him to so and it's the restaurant's job to make sure their servers are trained. Also, it's a great place to meet up with friends to sample various sushi items. Things are ordered per table on slips of paper. So the sushi bar items come nicely presented on a large platter. This could be a reason for some hold up for sushi bar orders. From the sushi bar, you can order sashimi, hand rolls, specialty rolls, regular maki rolls, and nigiri. So, during the weekends there can be a bit of wait for a table. The kitchen orders (salads, soups, hot foods) come on individual plates per item. A surprising favorite here is the ika/ fresh squid sashimi and sushi. Fresh tasting and tender. It was clearly a table favorite. Some of the nigiri pieces have very slim pieces of fish, so definitely order sashimi to even out the fish and rice ratio. Some of the kitchen items, such as the teriyaki squid are chopped into tiny pieces that it was extremely hard to eat it. The tempura shrimp and broccoli are pretty standard. The fried calamari/squid came with a very mango dipping sauce which was different. Skip the hot and sour soup as well. Service was attentive, but we went on a weekday night, so there wasn't much of a crowd. I came with four people and everyone really enjoyed it.The quality was actually above average and every kind we had was delicious we ordered 2 times and didn't even leave one ! It's not terrible, but I wouldn't say it's ever my first choice for sushi and Japanese fare. I don't live in the area but I do find myself in Bethpage about once a week because my fiancé's roots are here. When I get a craving for sushi, Sushi Time 560 is convenient especially because it's located right in town in a small shopping center with an amply sized parking lot. We come here with our friends for their AYCE deal because it satisfies everyone's tastes and I think they're BYOB as well. I've found the food to be sub- to on par. I've come here for AYCE dinner and I've also ordered to go. Service is lacking on weekend nights when it's completely packed and you get your food frequently rather than all at one time. One time I think we ordered multiple types of BBQ sticks and they all arrived at the table at different times, some even arriving after the main sushi plate. My fiancé tried ordering a noodle soup like 4 different times in one meal before they actually brought something but it didn't come until the end, so he wasn't even hungry anymore. The soup was too salty anyway. The sashimi is really not my favorite by far. I would go so far as to say I don't want to eat the sashimi here unless Sushi Time 560 is the only place open, and even then I'd probably go with the maki rolls despite the fact I'm limiting starches in my diet. I've gotten the Sashimi combo which is 18? pieces of sashimi. The tuna is pretty pale and doesn't have much flavor, the white tuna is standard, the red snapper is okay, and the seared tuna I could've definitely done without. The fried oreos are pretty good but it's hard to mess that up. Also, the downside to the fried oreos is they're only available until a certain time of day. Whatever, Carvel is like two doors down so you can head over there if you're in the mood for something sweet to end the meal. Would I come back? I've never been disappointed here. How can you be upset when it's BYOB and there's a liquor store within the same plaza? It's all you can eat, and the sushi is fresh. Just make sure you only order what you can eat because wasting is frowned upon and you can't bring home leftovers. Sometimes they may forget an order or bring you someone else's but you normally have enough food on the table that it doesn't make a difference. For dessert I always get a fried Oreo with ice cream.
