This place reminds me of home in Taiwan, super service. Before the food even comes you get a warm feeling and it is in the Taiwanese blood. It's a cute little place, as soon as we walked in my daughter funny enough was acknowledged as I am guessing this is locally owned business as one of the waiters recognized her from tennis. Now onto the food, service was fast, the beef bun shows not cheap on portion size, not sure what they do with the French fries, but definitely have to get it. As for the ramen, unfortunately we didn't come here for dinner it was more to try it out and my son had it minimal, the soup base tastes rich. As for the boba it does the job, I am just happy it is very close to our house and will be back for sure and I'm sure my daughter will sneak a few visits in just for the bubble tea. read more

No frills Japanese Ramen spot that delivered on certain dishes but missed on others. Shumai & Koi Mega Spicy Ramen hit the spot with the Ramen being ample in size and packing both heat and taste. The vegetable gyoza, udon and dirty brown sugar milk on the other hand lacking flavor and taste compared to other establishments. Service also not ideal having to order via touch screen and wait until someone grabbed the receipt but giving Koi 4 stars since it's the type of spot that you find one thing you like - Koi Mega Spicy Ramen - and only rinse/repeat. read more

Our first time visiting this local business and it did not disappoint. Small restaurant located at the corner of this strip mall, there is parking available. We ordered a hot meal, ramen and an appetizer for lunch. They were all very good! For only $1, you can add a bowl of miso soup. Good size portions which we were pleasantly surprised. I think it's a new place , maybe a couple of months old. They are in a small shopping plaza like most places on the the island. Plenty of parking, and the store is the last one in the row They don't have too much seating, probably a dozen or so tables but they are set up where you can move them around to accommodate larger parties . They do take reservations too which is nice. The food was delicious. Tried the ramen and the bubble tea. They also have appetizers and bowls as well. I'll have to try those next time. Best ramen I've ever had? No Terrific service? Absolutely Solid spot offering generous portions at reasonable prices? You betcha Located in a small strip on the south side of Hempstead Turnpike, Koi is a small but welcoming spot that offers many varieties of ramen as well as a variety of rice bowls, appetizers, teas and more. On this chilly January day I opted for the rock shrimp appetizer as well as the Tonkotsu ramen - for a nominal upcharge (I want to say $6 or so) I was able to add on a pork bun as well as a boba tea, definitely a great value here. I don't want to trash the place as the food was quite good from start to finish, just not on par with some spots I've visited in the city. Rock shrimp were very big, perfectly hot & crisp and came with a sauce that was quite tasty. Pork bun was flavorful but I felt the pork itself was a little on the chewy side which can be off-putting. As for the ramen, the portion was extremely generous and everything super fresh, I just felt the broth could've used a little more flavor. Next time I might consider the black garlic oil add on to see if that elevates the flavor a bit. I say next time because despite not being top tier it was definitely a solid option especially compared to other places in the area. Also, the service was fantastic from start to finish - super friendly staff offering suggestions and right on top of refills, clearing plates etc without being overly intrusive. Very friendly help. The ladies who serve and run the place are so enjoyable to be around. They know fun stuff and are full of energy and fun facts. But the food is great that's why I go, and the bubble tea is the best in the area, the bubbles just melt in my mouth I love the bubble tea. But I like the chicken dishes especially the little bite size chicken pieces in the different coatings so good. And I can get my miso and other healthy stuff including the seaweed and the duck eggs that I love so much, also the roast beef was good very good, the lobster is very good read more

Nice new place in the neighborhood. Koi took over the bbq place, and we have been waiting for them to open. They just had their grand opening today, and the place decor is clean and cute. They only have 4 tables, so not a big place. The service was amazing and attentive. We ordered the combo for two, but they didn't have the duck or lobster ramen. I really was craving duck. We opted for the Sapporo miso since I wasn't in the mood for chicken or loaded seafood. The tonkatsu ramen broth was tasty, and if you grab some togarashi near the counter. The Sapporo ramen broth was really tasty, and they were nice enough to add 3 shrimp to mine since they didn't have the 2 options I wanted to try. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The cha siu could be more fatty but that's my preference. Overall, pretty solid ramens. The passion fruit tea is how you imagine it should be but the Thai tea isn't what we imagined. I guess we were used to the normal heavy thai tea taste with your evaporated and condense milk. Their Thai tea is on the light side and not very sweet. Just a warning that you won't get the typical Thai tea. We ended it with strawberry mochi that comes with the combo and they gave us on boba vanilla ice cream on the house. Didn't think to have that as a combo but it does work. Overall, solid experience and definitely will be back to try more of their options. Hopefully next time, they have duck available! :) read more

This was the tastiest, freshest ramen I've ever had. The seafood was perfectly cooked and portioned, the broth was absolutely delicious, and the noodles were yummy. The only thing I'd do next time is swap ramen for udon. We also had the cheese balls, which were incredibly satisfying appetizer bites. The takoyaki was fresh and tasty. The boba soft serve for dessert was amazing, too. The tapioca was fresh and made in house and the ice cream was luscious and complemented the pearls very well. The service is extremely friendly and efficient and the ambiance is laid back. The interior decor is minimalistic and clean. The pillows on the seats are very thoughtful--just like everything else about this restaurant, their food, and service. I'm so happy this place is close by.
