First impression of the aesthetics ,I did not think one way or the other. 5 minutes after we ordered, what was about 7 rolls we have everything. I'm not sure what happened, but boy has this place changed. A very mixed experience. We were seated at the sushi bar, but it felt more like we were at a Sports bar.. The place was very loud with a big screen tv blaring for all to hear. The owner and one of the sushi chefs were having a very loud spanish coversations with the people sitting next to us. We felt like we were intruding in on their private conversation. The owner had a terrible rapport with her customers. She looked annoyed when asking if we wanted the a la carte or alll you can eat... again looked annoyed when she brought us our sake... and then again when she brought us some of our dishes... My friends tried this place out despite my advice. They had nothing good to say about their experience! Here is my original review: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! This place has the worst customer service ever combined with below average sushi quality. The owner (extremely rude Spanish speaking lady) stares at you the whole time you're eating, especially if you chose the "all you can eat" option. She keeps looking at you like even though you paid for all you can eat, you shouldn't eat like it. About half way through my meal, she stopped me and told me to STOP EATING and gave me my bill. Stop eating????? I was shocked. I paid for all you can eat!!!! Can restaurants do this? Stop a customer from eating and still make them pay for the full price? I was furious. The part I really don't understand is that I didn't even eat that much. I had about 5 plates of food, equivalent to about $20. All you can eat option costs way more than that. This is such an amazing sushi place! They have such good and FRESH sushi. Unlike conveyer belt places such as blue c sushi, you get to order your sushi fresh and you see the chef make it in front of you. I highly recommend for anyone to try this out and if you're not a fan of sushi, they have teriyaki and cooked dishes. My bf has been wanting to stop by here but we have not been able to make it in time but finally we were able to.... and I was really disapointed... personally the atmosphere was not to my liking. Tv was on a random movie, not many customers at prime dinnertime. I felt pursuaded to get the all you can eat, we did not, not very friendly or petsonable. The service was just ok. But for being so slow(at dinnertime) i wouldve liked them to be at minimum cheery or smile or small talk as we were sitting at the sushi bar. I felt it was overpriced for the quality. For starters i think something was on the verge of being bad, slightly fishy, so not so fresh.... lets start here...... when you sell a crab and salmon roll, and it was NOT crab, it was Krab(fake) and when you say its Tobiko and its actually mushi Masago, not cool. When you say its a "long" roll (seems to be advertised as some special thing) and its a standard roll size, hmmmm..... and oddly NO one was even japanese that worked there, and none of the customers were either, which, is not a bad thing, just really strange to me. Haven't been here in a while.....what happened? Fish use to be fresh and tasty. Not so much now. The hamachi wasn't fresh, had a slight sour taste to it. The maguro looked like it had been around for a while.... The muscles and calamari were good. As were the salmon collars and the salmon skin rolls. But didn't do anymore of the raw product due the quality of the fish. Won't be coming backn which is too bad, use to be one of my favorite places. read more

Well I guess you definitely don't go here for the service. While the food was good, it was not worth it. We ordered the all you can eat special, but we didn't get all We could eat. We didn't even get half of what we ordered, just enough to have exceeded the cost of the all you can eat price if we paid Ala carte and then nothing more. Our server left half way through our meal to drop off her kids who had been playing in the dinning room most of the time. We had to ask another server for a refill on water and she just filled it up at the sink, atleast this time it had ice cubes. We didn't even bother asking for the rest of our meal. I didn't think the service was very impressive and they treat their regulars 100x better than their new customers. Its as if you don't exist if the regulars come in because AFTER they finish w/THEIR order than the sushi chef will work on yours. I find it ridiculous how there's two standards of service & was not pleased to see favoritism. You can order the exact same order as the regulars, but for some reason your rolls won't have the extra "love & care" like the regulars because theirs will have all the frills & etc, while yours is this plain looking roll. I was upset that i came there prior to any regulars and I had to wait every time for their order to be made before mine. Plus, i did not like the fact that because i wasn't a regular I didn't get the same treatment. Now, i'm not jealous, but if you're paying the same price as everyone you deserve the same treatment/service. The sushi is good, but NOT the best i've had. The service can improve and the one hour limit on the All You Can Eat Sushi should be removed. Most people won't continue to eat if they're already full, so the owner shouldn't worry that we'll eat you out of your home. A buddy and I decided we were in the mood for all-you-can-eat Sushi so I suggested coming here since it'd been a few months since my last visit. Their service was horrible. The lone female server was rude and short when speaking to us. The sushi chefs took extremely long to make our rolls and would stand idle while we were still waiting for our orders to be made.. When brought up with the server.. she commented that we should finish our food on our plate before they start making any more sushi that we ordered.. WTH! Is this not all-you-can-eat?! She also suggested that we share our food instead of ordering separate rolls and eating them individually.. It was a totally unpleasant experience.. Also, the "white/mexican" sushi chef was extremely slow and unresponsive when trying to get his attention, pretending he couldn't hear us. I caught him giving us dirty looks as we ate as well. If you want food poisoning, then this place is for you!!! We came here with a group of friends and we all got food poisoning from the salmon. Based on department of health, that was the only thing we ate in common. Fever, vomiting, cramps and diarrhea! All had the same symptoms and around same time! The food is cheap quality and lots of rice for a little fish! We called the owner Francis and she got very defensive and said we were lying and to prove that we got sick there. Do I accept this place to be my wife? No, I refuse to wear the sushi ring. Forgive my corniness, but I just had to. I will tell you that Sushi Ring is one of those places that got me into sushi. Not because I loved the place, but it made me want to find better sushi places. Although my palette was inexperienced, at the time, for sushi, I could tell that their fish was not that fresh. The fish had no taste. I will tell you that I prefer this place over Super China Buffet, but that doesn't say much. Or does it? They do have a lot of rolls and they are so bright and beautiful, but why do they all stay the same? Could it be that they over-saturate the rolls to cover up the not-so-fresh fish? How many rolls exactly have the same sauces on them? I guess the rolls all taste the same, but with variances in texture. The taste and texture of the fish exude not-so-fresh fish. Anyways, why am I SPAMming not-so-fresh? It is because I would rather have myself a musubi than this place, it just taste, well, fresher. And damn it I will eat as many baked mussels I want and you shouldn't complain? It is all-you-can-eat right? Look, I'm Filipino, we will hoard your damn food inventory if we want to. If you don't want us to, don't offer all-you-can-eat and complain or limit how many mussels we eat. And no, I'm not a food snob on his quest to find the most expensive food. Currently: Avoid At All Costs In The Past: Really Good This is the tail (sic) of two fishes. It was the best of fish, it was the worst of fish... So, Sushi Ring used to be really good. They had professional, highly skilled sushi chefs who knew how to examine the fish for parasites, ensured the fish cases were always closed and cold, had high cleanliness standards, etc...but no longer. These days the fish are warm, and often make you sick. I personally got a really bad case of E. tarda (requiring weeks of antibiotic treatment). Friends and family have had instant barf sessions. Other Yelpers have tossed their cookies... All in all, it's not what it once was. For now, I strongly urge people to avoid Sushi Ring. The service is great, but the food is poisonous. read more

Okay this is going to be hard to put into a review! I have been going to sushi ring for about 10 years and i will rarely go anywhere else. The atomosphere has changed since Elvis has left and the place truly does miss him. His replacement is boring and slow. Nonetheless, Hitomi and Mark (I call him Voltron, and you should too :P) will serve you right. The sushi quality has not changed and you will get your fill. Reccomendations: - Absolutely for no reason should you sit at a table. The only waitress is the daughter of the owner and she is not worth the time. Wait the extra time for the bar. - Sit in front of Mark or Hitomi, avoid the slow expressionless guy if you can but its not the end of the world if you get him - Get the all you can eat, you'll probably spend that much anyway... - Must gets: Calamari, Upsidedown Shrimp, SexonTheBeach roll and SALMON. The salmon literally melts in your mouth... In the end if you sit at the bar in front of Hitomi/Mark you will enjoy yourself and get more than your fill of delicious sushi. p.s. I was grouchy by the time i drove all the way up to Silverlake from downtown Seattle, but all the crazy traffic and gas exhaust was worth it. My friend Milo dared me to eat more sushi than him, and I did. In fact, Elvis (the cheeky, elderly sushi chef) INSISTED upon it. He wouldn't let me finish something without getting another order out of me! It was seriously a relief that he let me fufill my never-ending sushi fantasy without a single glance of disgust or eyeroll. I was free to pig out. And the quality was great, so maybe I showed up on a good day when everything was super fresh. Hamachi usually gets a "hmmmm" out of me, but Elvis got more than that with the yellowtail he served my friend and me. They were out of whitefish, albacore, and the big scallops, which put just a tiny damper on my fantasy coming true, but you know what erased all the disappointment? UPSIDE-DOWN SHRIMP. That's all I'm going to say. In fact, that's one of the reasons Milo promised me I wouldn't regret this place. We ordered 5. Just order some and you'll see. I'm still reminiscing. I can't wait to go back and see Elvis, and the other people who work there. They were all smiling, concerned with our enjoyment, and said "goodbye" like friends would say it. The tempura was way over fried, too. Other than that, the flavors were all there and decent tasting but definitely not quality. I think I would've felt better about the sushi had the service been even marginal. But being stared down because two of the three of us didn't get drinks and made to feel terrible because I didn't order the all you can eat sushi deal is just unacceptable! Rude would've been better than what we got. Oh, I did notice that regulars are treated very well. They are offered a plate of fried clams upon entering and spoken to very nicely. Of course, he wants you to get the "all you can eat" so you spend more $$, but you don't have to. MAKE SURE YOU PAY WITH CASH. I really love their made to order all you can eat sushi. They have some great options for all sushi eaters; a lot of really good raw options as well as a lot of really good cooked options. The price is steep; it is usually about $30 per person for dinner. But if you're going to eat more than two rolls, it's worth it, even if you only have 3. Rolls range from $6 (for your simple cucumber rolls) to $12 for the fancier ones. With the all you can eat you get miso soup, edamame, calamari, and salad. I say you should pay with cash because one time I paid with my card, and made it very clear on the receipt that I was paying my tip with cash. When the charge showed up on my account, it had an additional $9 added after we left. I left a very generous cash tip, so they should not have felt the need to add any additional money. I had the bank revoke the charge. Wish that the cranky mexicans didn't work there. The daughter is sort of terse, and so is the lady behind the counter. I don't think I've been here while Elvis is there. I also have never sat anywhere other than the bar, and service from the sushi chefs can be fast to very slow, depending on how many people are there eating. 3 stars for great food and choices, minus one star for the bad charge and another for the cranky employees. Elvis has left the building and what's left is still in good hands. Customer service is good, attentive chefs and staff when arriving and seated. If you're ordering the all you can eat, the chefs will always make eye contact with you to make sure you have enough to eat, I like that! The sushi selection is very good. From nigiri to hand rolls and all in between. You can't pick a bad roll as they have cooked rolls as well as raw rolls as well. Enough to satisfy all picky eaters. The fish is fresh and the salmon was so buttery I wanted the tray as sashimi. One thing about the all you can eat is its everything on the menu is fair game which is rare to see. Make sure you're hungry because the chefs won't stop unless you tell them to. Appetizers are offered with the AYCE but I skip it to save room for sushi. The only downside of this place is that its very small and if you are eating AYCE its wise to sit at the bar rather a table because you'll get your food faster. Is six stars possible? Okay, so let's say you want a refined sushi meal - if you're headed to a place in a strip mall for said refined meal, you're in trouble as it is. But if you want to gorge yourself on some mighty fine and fresh sushi, this is the place you need to come. Sushiland? No. Blue C? No. Todai? God no. Situated across the street from Silver Lake in a little strip mall, I've seen studio apartments larger than Sushi Ring. It doesn't matter - pull up a seat at the L shaped sushi bar if you can, or sit at one of the tables looking out the window, and you'll forget all about size. Size doesn't matter, right? ;) The head sushi chef is Elvis, as is noticeable by the massive amount of Elvis memorabilia he has. He's a cheeky guy - he will tease you and convince you that you're not done even when you are, you really are. The rest of the staff is ridiculously attentive and just as good at making sushi. Get the all you can eat and gorge yourself on albacore. I've eaten at a LOT of sushi restaurants and I have NEVER had albacore so perfect. Oh my God, I could've made a meal out of the albacore alone. And for the love of all things holy, do not use soy sauce on it! It comes pre-sauced. There's a flat screened TV in there, usually showing sports (it was the Seahawks when I went). They will make things for you that aren't on the menu. I had the pleasure of a lovely cucumber and sashimi salad, which I received after being asked the question "do you like cucumbers?" (I mean, really, who doesn't?) My mom, when asked if she wanted some mochi ice cream (get the green tea mochi ice cream, seriously), turned it down and was offered melon instead. Out of the fridge came a gorgeous half of cantalope - a slice was taken and chunks were made of it and then doused with a helping of plum wine. There are no words, you guys. No words at all. Go. My favorite sushi place in the Seattle area in terms of quality and value. I've been satisfying my sushi craving by visiting Sushi Ring at least once a month for the last 4 years. The all you can eat deal for 28.95 is always worth it. There is also a ton of variety and options both sashimi and rolls. The upside down shrimp is amazing and unique, the peppered tuna, albacore and smoked salmon sashimi is wonderful. My favorite rolls are the basil salmon roll, special roll and sex on the beach roll. If you get there when it's not busy service is really fast and you can experiment a little more with different fishes and combinations for rolls. When it's busy service can be a slower and if you don't know what you want or what is going on it is more difficult getting the chef's attention. read more

I have been going to Sushi Ring for over 7 years. I have always gone with 2-4 people who happen to enjoy Sushi and partake in the all you can eat. This year for my brithday I wanted to go for Sushi. My husband called ahead and asked if they could accommodate a party of at least 10 up to 13 for a family brithday. No mention that we would all need to sit at the bar if the entire party wasn't eatting AYCE. This was a family dinner our party included an infant, two children and a 12 year old. The bar is not a place for an infant and a toddler. There was plenty of space for us all to sit at the tables, but they refused to seat is there. I explained that they were willing to lose a bill over $300 due to the potential that a person not eating AYCE would consume since freaking sushi. Essentially accusing us of stealing!!! The people not eating all you can eat would have ordered off their non sushi order with the exception of the vegitarian who was planning on ordering a few vegitarian rolls and wouldn't eat anything else. Their business model has zero honor system is losing them more money than just trusting their customers. I'm would say that we were semi-regulars...you know sometimes we go 2 times a month others we go every other month. Spending at a minimum of $75 a visit. I hope that they learn their lessen and chill the fuck out or go out of business at this point. Needless to say we will not be returning. We enjoyed my brithday at a different restaurant....which happen to have a bill over $300 not including tip!!!! It was just every day average sushi. The "waitress" talked more on her cell phone than dealing with customers. Finally got up and sat at the bar. All you can eat in one hour $28.95, peel a layer of rice off that roll, you are paying for the rice. Anyone that says this is great place has to never had real sushi before because this was rice cakes with fish. D'lish,fresh,plenty,d'lish,reasonable,variety...did I say d'lish? Would I expect this from a "sushi place in Everett" oh H#ll no! Yes, food snob ,sorry, I'm thinking strip mall ,please,yuck, food poisioning my first visit...I was unsure,but wait, the place is PACKED with men at lunch???? Crew is pleasant and customers seem to want to share in the "do you believe this hole in the wall goodness??" I've been avoiding going to Sushi Ring, since my friend kept telling me that it was an all-you-can-eat-sushi place.. All you can eat sushi? Can't be good. I finally gave in when Suz said she wanted to take me there for my birthday. So we went. I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't turn out to be one of those super buffet places that had sushi chefs pre-making them on one counter row. The place almost looks like it used to be a small Subway.. but most of the seats are counter side.. I don't even know why you would sit on the regular tables, as they're pretty much out of sight. (How would you order from there?) We waited a few mins to sit at the bar. I was glad to see that the sushi was prepared as you order them, and they can do some specific requests if you try to be a little experimental with the mix in your sushi. We got pretty good service, and they answered all our questions. For all you can eat at about $30 a person, you were asked to finish all of your orders, or they will charge you for leftovers.. which is, thankfully, easy enough to gauge if you order only a very few at a time. It was interesting to see all of the Elvis paraphernalia (and Elvis-themed sushi names).. It took me just a little while to see the connection. lol. PS. Yes I did lurve my sushi, and I would willingly go back there once my money tree is in full bloom. I definitely want to take the hubby there sometime. read more
