First time trying, we ordered the Deluxe sushi combo, Gozilla roll, Unagi roll and BC roll via delivery on Dash We been trying lots of sushi via delivery around the area, and it's put us in a real crave for fresh seafood, cause majority tasted like food court sushi quality, but this place seem to have finally satisfied our craving! Taste 1/1* One of the freshest seafood I've had since moving to Vancouver, one that's outside of DT anyways. Deluxe sushi combo really hit the spot, fresh, good variety with all 10 pieces being different, and nicely plated. The Gozilla roll, amazing! It's like having a Dynamite roll, which's already good as is, with 3 fresh scallop on top, mmmm~ BC roll, not our fav, too dry and unbalanced, also overall the rice was on the more vinegar side Value 1/1* Prices may be slightly higher, but for the freshness, well worth it! It's been a few years since my last visit to L.A. Sushi in the Crest Shopping Centre in Burnaby so I thought it was about time to repay them a visit. The menu offering here is decidedly old school with a mix of classic items that you'd expect to find such as sushi rolls, donburi, and sashimi - it was this last item that drew me here as I had a hankering for some sashimi. The Assorted Sashimi ($19.55) is the chef's choice and is described in the menu as coming with 12 pieces (but I counted more than that on my plate): 1 piece of tamago (cut in two), 2 pieces of hokkigai (surf clam), 3 pieces of tako (octopus) that were a bit squishy but okay, 4 pieces of Atlanic salmon, 1 piece of wild salmon, 3 pieces of shime saba (marinated mackerel), 3 pieces of tai (red snapper), and 3 pieces of tuna. Overall, my favourite was the salmon which had a smooth and buttery texture while the tuna was a bit on the cold side but not too bad. I couldn't immediately tell what the translucent sashimi was that resembled a firmer tuna but later found out it was red snapper (I didn't even see red snapper on the menu). I returned a couple of weeks later to try some of their nigiri sushi and wound up ordering the Wild Salmon ($2.40), Tuna Toro ($2.20), Saba ($1.75), Unagi ($2.65), Amaebi ($2.65), Ikura ($2.50), and Chopped Scallop ($2.20). I noticed that they are fairly generous with their sashimi pieces... most notably with the salmon, tuna, saba (mackerel), ikura, and chopped scallop. I especially liked the buttery tuna belly and most of the other pieces were spot-on. On a subsequent visit, I opted for their version of a Chirashi Don ($18.50) which comes with miso soup. I thought the price sounded a bit on the high side but when the massive bowl arrived at my table, I could see why - this could easily feed 2 people. The sashimi, as in my other visit, was clean and fresh and consisted of 4 pieces of salmon, 3 pieces of tuna, 3 pieces of tako, 2 pieces of wild salmon, 2 pieces of surf clam, 3 pieces of mackerel, 2 pieces of squid, 4 pieces of snapper (I think), as well as tamago. For the first time in a long while, I think I bit off more than I could chew... but I did manage to finish all of the sashimi in this bowl. There's quite a bit of sushi rice underneath that went to waste because I couldn't finish it though. In late November, I decided to try one of their numerous sushi rolls on their menu and ordered the Tiger Roll ($11.85) which is filled with imitation crab meat, prawn tempura, avocado, and cucumber and then topped with alternating ebi and avocado on top with a special sauce. The roll itself is quite large and the filling reminded me of a mix between a California roll and a dragon roll. In late December, I returned for a quick lunch comprised of Tuna and Salmon Sashimi ($13.85) and Futomaki ($6.50). As I've stated previously, the sashimi here is pretty good and you get 8 pieces of thick sashimi in the dish. Both tuna and salmon were fresh and slid down so easily. Futomaki is known as a "fat" roll and this version is no exception. Filled with a combination of tamago, yellow radish, carrot, cucumber, and pickled pumpkin, it can be a bit daunting to try and pick up. Another visit to LA Sushi had me picking up some more nigiri sushi... Wild Salmon ($2.40), Toro ($2.20), Chopped Scallop ($2.20), Ikura $2.50, and Unagi ($2.65). Simple but good... especially the buttery toro and the plump scallops. Their Dragon Roll ($11.95) is like a giant California roll topped with unagi and avocado. It's satisfying but I guess I've been spoiled by places that present Dragon rolls in the shape of a dragon with a "dragon face" decoration on one end. Overall, a nice little sushi restaurant in the area and the chef is friendly but the menu offering is a bit limiting. read more

The sushi was fresh. That's what I recall about this place. It was the only real restaurant open in this complex at three in the afternoon. Parking was plentiful outside. I got the combo A with a California roll and various assorted sushi. My friend got this other combo with a BC roll and Dynamite roll. I can tell you now that the dynamite roll is huge! They stuffed that thing with a lot of fake crab meat and a dynamite roll. It was good. My California roll was fresh and just the right temperature. The miso soup was warm and tasty. I remember being able to taste the Salmon, I think it was smoked salmon in the BC roll. The salmon overpowered the rest of the BC roll and was very savory. The decor was simple and it was an inexpensive meal with both combos costing less than $10 each. read more

I like this place a lot. I love Japanese restaurants and luckily this one is near my work so I can come here on my breaks. The food is good. They have a good selection of makizushi, nigirizushi and temaki (cones) to choose from. The sushi tastes very fresh. I think their best quality, though, are the special rolls. This place is Korean-owned so they offer some interesting rolls. I've tried a few of the different types and I just love them. They are very creative and taste pretty great. I would definitely recommend trying one of the special rolls. My favourite is the starry night roll. The service is excellent. The two chefs that work here are fast and are very nice. I'm able to sit down, drink a couple nice cups of tea, order, and eat my lunch in the span of a break which is very efficient. Most people order takeout here, but I always dine in and have a good experience. The only problem you might run into is if you have a large number of requests. Sometimes, older customers ask for a wide assortment of special adjustments on their sushi and the language barrier definitely affects the communication. Other than that, they are super nice and accommodating. This place is a hidden gem. They have very creative rolls, friendly staff and good food. Check it out for sure! read more

I went here for the first time Saturday night. It's close to my place, and I've always wanted to try it, so I gave it a go, but kept it simple. I got a California roll combo, that came with a miso soup. My order was take-out, and when I called them, they were extremely friendly. My order was ready in 10minutes just as they said, and when I picked it up, I was greeted with smiles by both employees working there. The food was good. The rolls were fresh, not cold like California rolls that have been sitting in the fridge taste. The miso soup was hot, and refreshing. I like how they gave me pickled ginger, and my own little container of soy sauce! I will be returning here next time I'm craving sushi. Nice to know I have a quality sushi place in my area! Great little sushi shop. Enthusiastic chef behind the bar seated us and began our service with great care. We ordered a combo, with a California roll and salmon and tuna maki. The portions were generous, and the salmon in particular was very good. The chef brought both of us a bowl of miso soup, even though I'm not sure it was supposed to be for two people. Clearly this place takes care of its customers. I look forward to coming back to this restaurant - great little neighbourhood spot! read more

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner and first of all, our table and menus were very sticky. My boyfriend, who is allergic to shellfish, ordered his sushi and when he informed the staff of his allergy, they didn't even know what shellfish was. Once we had explained it to them and kindly asked them to prepare it on a clean surface, in order to reduce cross contamination, they told us that they had others waiting and asked us to leave. The prices are good, the staff is friendly, my issue is just in the taste. It just never tastes good; I think the best I have had there was adequate. The market in the Lower Mainland is flooded with sushi... I suggest you keep on driving to the next closest sushi restuarant (probably a few blocks down).
