Feeling peckish on a Friday evening so my partner and I stopped in for a light dinner. There was one party ahead of us but they had a clipboard to put your name and number down to be seated. It was not too long. Hot tea shortly after we were seated and it was relatively quick and easy to order. We got an order of salmon oishi, chopped scallops roll and a specialty roll I think it was called a Godzilla roll. Also ordered a coke zero which came with the can and a cup of ice. The food came out pretty quick and it was all very tasty. Oishi and Godzilla roll has a nice char flavour to it. My partner has come in to this spot a few times already and he has enjoyed his meals each time. He's taken out rolls before and they were still tasty after traveling 15 to 20 mins as well. Didn't dine-in but ordered a few of their rolls and tempura on Uber Eats because my friend said that this was her favourite sushi place... and I see why. I got their deep fried California roll and dynamite roll. The deep fried california roll came with crab meat which was so creamy and also had a spicy sauce. I don't eat a lot of seafood but this was so fresh that I couldn't get enough of it. The dynamite roll was also very good, it had prawn tempura, and crab meat - again very creamy! My friend got their Godzilla roll which has spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, avocado, crabmeat and was topped with spicy tuna and tempura crumbs. It looked so good and tasted even better. I think this was my fav roll! I also tried two of their veggie rolls - the avo & mango and inari roll. Both were delicious, I especially liked the avocado and mango combination. Korean sushi place on Edmonds. Parking is available inside the strip mall lot, as well as on the side streets. Place looks pretty bright and cozy. Staff are friendly and quick. The chirashi don I had definitely scores points on the presentation (cute little wooden basket). However, the portion size is definitely on the small side. Besides an ebi prawn, this dish also comes with a peeled whole prawn. I was able to gaze into its eyes while devouring its body. Ingredients were nice and fresh. Salmon, tuna, snapper, mackerel, surf clam, octopus, tobiko, ikura, and some other bits and a nice chrysanthemum flower. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point to try their other stuff. read more

Genuinely one of my favourite newly discovered, lowkey and casual sushi places. I've done take out 4 times these past two weeks and it all stemmed from a simple Google search for a quick sushi take out near my work because I was super hungry after work. It did not disappoint. One of these days, I will come back and do a sit down!! I haven't had much interaction with their staff, but just the few times I've been there, they've all been super friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in. Maybe it's because I usually go in around 4:30-5PM, it's not quite dinner time yet and so it's been pretty empty on the inside. However, it's a decently sized space. It's in a little complex with other restaurants around so it can be challenging to find parking at time. Their menu is pretty extensive, ranging from regular sushi rolls, speciality roles, sashimi, nigiri and other noodle/rice dishes. I like their variety in their normal rolls-- my favourite is their mango salmon roll. I've never had this combo before and it worked really well! They give a generous portion as well. The price is also very fair. I would love to try their speciality rolls once I get to sit down in their restaurant. I highly recommend this place! The Chicken Cha Cha Cha stayed crispy through the meal, wasn't able very sweet and just what I ordered (mild spicy). The popcorn sushi was delicious, think of a deep fried roll, but not. It had tempura batter, deep fried scallops, prawn tempura and crispy shavings. This is probably gonna be my go to order whenever I come here now. I recommend you check this place out. This is one of a few sushi restaurants along Edmonds St in Burnaby. The place was full when we got here but luckily there was still 1 table left. We ordered the ika karaage ( squid tentacles ), tuna tataki sashimi, OMG roll and a tuna poke aburi roll. We haven't had ika karaage for a while so it was good. It was crispy on the outside, tender inside and it comes with some spicy mayo. It is on top of a bed of spring salad. The tuna tataki was seared right, and it was also on a bed of spring salad. There are some cripsy garlic flakes on top. The OMG roll has avocado and crabmeat inside, topped with salmon, tuna, mango, chopped scallions and masago. There is some spicy mayo on top and teriyaki sauce around it for you to dip for a little more sweetness. This was really good. I would definitely order it again however there are some other special rolls that we want to try, such as magma roll, thor dragon and crazy papa rolls. Next time. The tuna poke aburi roll has soy marinated tuna, avocado, sesame oil, and jalapeno salsa. The avocado is in the middle of the rice, tuna on top. Most sushi places are more or less the same to me, but I was impressed by how extensive the menu was! The spicy tuna volcano was so delicious and one of my favorites! Seared spicy tuna on top of crispy rice. All of the aburi (torched) pieces were fantastic. This was my first time trying aburi before and it's a game-changer! Great quality with a good fish-to-rice ratio! There is a parking lot out front but there aren't many spots so parking is quite limited. No sushi no life? Okay.. I am ON it.. I ordered take out when it was first opened, it was okay. I decided to do a quick late lunch dine in since I am in the area and its slogan, "no sushi no life", got my attention. It's conveniently located on the little plaza on Edmonds by Canada Way in Burnaby. There is an okay amount of parking spaces in the parking lot, if not there are both free and pay street parking available. Inside was pretty clean when I arrived and comfortably seated, always nice when not so crowded that's why I preferred non peak hours when dining alone. Here were the food I ordered; 1. Ebi sunomono. The sushi vinegar and sugar with lemon were balanced, the vermicelli noodles were a bit chewy, but the 2 piece ebi hack didn't go too well with me (halved 1 ebi into 2 pieces is not really considered 2 ebi?!?) Yep, not a big fan of that and a lot of restaurants do it to the hokkigai too. I truly believe Japanese restaurants should really stop doing these silly food hacks (facepalm. 2. Salmon & tuna sashimi. Pretty fresh and decent size. 3. Dragon roll. Pretty fresh and tasty overall, but I am not too big a fan of so much sauces when it comes to sushi, mask too much of the original taste. 4. Salmon, tuna, toro, saba, ikura, chopped scallop nigiris. The sushi rice was nicely done and formed, everything was fresh but the toros were missing that buttery taste. Overall, the layout and vibe here was pretty casual. This was the same for service wise, nothing bad or dynamic that wow me a repeat anytime soon. As for the food, everything was okay and fresh. I would say pretty basic and standard menu, no specialty dishes or sushi. Restaurant slogan, "no sushi no life"... many may not know but we are going through a silent recession and many restaurants are beginning to feeling the impact, therefore, my words to restaurants, "no good food no customers". read more

Checked out this new sushi spot in the neighborhood. Stylish new space with nice booth seating. Menus are comically large (forgot to take a picture lol). The branded cups and napkins are cute. My choice was the popcorn roll and it was pretty good! If you like sweet and spicy flavours and fried scallops, this is the roll for you. The portion was big enough that the price made sense and there were enough scallops that they were falling over the roll, haha. Also ordered two aburi nigiri, salmon and tuna. Surprisingly enough I enjoyed the tuna one a little more, perhaps the salmon one was a tad overdone. Finally, I had some cream cheese salmon roll and it was pretty good! Plenty of filling. Ever since this restaurant showed up on my Instagram feed with a new location in Burnaby, I've been wanting to try their special rolls and I must say, I was a bit disappointed with our dinner tonight with the main problem being undercooked sushi rice. We ordered the: Angry Bird Roll - essentially a house roll topped with spicy tuna sashimi, this roll was very large and a reasonable price for the amount of food! I found that the layer of rice was a bit thicker than I liked, packed really tightly making one piece very filling. The main problem I had with this roll and all the other rolls was that there were clearly pieces of uncooked rice tonight. The rice was also not very well flavoured (a little bland). The filling on the other hand was Negitoro roll, chopped scallop roll and salmon/tuna/tamago roll - all had the same problem with the rice, filling was fine. OMG Roll - california roll filling with seared tuna, salmon, mango and avocado on top with a tiny bit of chopped scallop, this was the best roll of the night mostly because the flavours of the sauce and searing better masked the poor quality of rice. This was a very tasty roll and one of the best of what we ordered. Cha Cha Chicken Rice Bowl (mild) - this was a donburi with sweet and spicy (mild for us) fried chicken that was stir fried with some peppers and broccoli. The chicken was very flavourful and the portion was adequate for the price. We enjoyed this one! Nabeyaki Udon - very high price for a mediocre bowl of udon. Topped with some crispy chicken, an egg and some veggies, I've definitely had better udon broth and noodles elsewhere. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with my meal from Sushi On and will likely not be returning as it is quite far from my home. Hopefully they will improve in the future. read more

Venue for lunch yesterday. A first-time dining experience for us. Arrived at the restaurant as it opened, were greeted by staff upon entering, and promptly provided with 'menus', and mugs of tea. Service was friendly, and cordial throughout our stay. Food ordered - using names / descriptions of dishes as listed in the menu provided -- including my comments / ratings of the preparations of each: Appetizers: - agedashi tofu (deep fried tofu w/tempura sauce) -- very poor -- barely warm, dry, and lacking flavour. - ika karaage (deep fried squid legs) -- poor -- small amount of very small pieces of squid, on a bed of more lettuce than squid, nice lettuce, but squid overcooked, and rather dry. - hell's chicken (deep fried spicy chicken) -- good -- chicken pieces moist, spicy, and tasty. Combos: - sashimi & sushi combo (tuna & salmon sashimi - salmon, tuna, ebi sushi - chopped scallop & tomiko) -- good -- decent presentation and preparation, enjoyed. Noodles: - vege yakisoba (pan fried noodle) -- very poor -- greasy, very salty, very limited amount of veggies, and what there were, most were so finely diced to be almost invisible, decently-prepared noodles. This restaurant was a new dining experience, and for me, was quite disappointing. No complaints about the friendly, good service, but a touch about the ambiance (with its loud music, and lack of an indoor dining and more "readable" menu), but a big amount about the poor food preparations. read more

New sushi restaurant opened up recently in Burnaby. Exceptional friendly customer service starting from you step into the store. Nice elegant interior design, with warm atmosphere. We ordered a few items today, because we are actually not so hungry when we came. They had gave us complementary miso soups and also a aburi roll to try (I didn't catch the roll's name...) All items we ordered are really excellent: The Hell's chicken is super crispy and juicy with spicy and sweet sauce, which is a great dish to go with beer. Angry bird roll is piled up tall like a tower, with layers of different ingredients. Spicy tuna with cucumber, green salad leaves, a big roll underneath with all the best things in it. This is the ultimate All In One roll, and you will be HAPPY not angry. I have to say it's just a bit far to our place, otherwise we might come here every week. For sushi we always have a tendency to always keep going to the same restaurants, so we decided to venture out of our comfort zone some more and try out Sushi On in Burnaby for the first time. The restaurant has a pretty wide selection of rolls and service was extra attentive! It was especially nice that they offered us complimentary miso soup upon being seated as well. We ordered the Sockeye Oishi + Magma Roll + Nigiri Fire + Chopped Scallop Nigiri. Amongst the rolls the magma was a favourite. Their chopped scallop is very finely chopped and quite a mouthful! I did find the sushi are a bit more generous in the rice and for pricing it is a tiny bit higher than your usual family go to sushi restaurants, but it's a good alternative option to try out some place new and satisfy some sushi cravings! read more

Came across Sushi On on my way home from some errands. I ordered a magma roll and a few nigiri, which were all quite tasty and had good fish to rice ratio. To my surprise, they included a godzilla roll and miso soup on the house for my order! That was a pleasant surprise. Staff were friendly and efficient when I arrived for pickup and the food was ready on time. The parking lot is one way and a bit small, but I lucked out with a spot right out front. Their website states their original location was in port coquitlam and this is their second outpost. A great addition to the Edmonds area and I will be back for more. read more

Amazing staff!!!! Every time we go in the staff are always so friendly to me and my kids. It is a short drive from new Westminster and they have the best local sushi. The Godzilla roll is good. The have chopsticks made for kids, so everyone is included. The last time I went they have a game promotion. We picked a tab off of a board and we won 15% off our food.
