    Zenbu katsu
    Ricky C.

Come early to get a seat and not have to wait. I don't think they take reservations. The interior and decor is very classy and the food is great! We got the Zenbu katsu and that was enough to share between 2 people.

If you haven't tried Jaoanese pork cutlets, this is the place to try it at. When I say that I've never eaten such a succulent, moist and tender piece of pork, I mean it! They have a variety of dishes there but the must try is their premium pork cutlet. The wait staff recommended it and I couldn't have been more satisfied with my choice. The service is exquisite as most Japanese places are where they are kind and considerate but also appeals to your taste pallette and extremely polite. They checked up on us just the right amount of times. The seating arrangement was booth style and was very private. They also have a nice bar with Japanese liquor.

Reservation recommended. This place gets busy for a reason. We ordered the katsu with gravy and it was excellent: crispy, flavorful, and comforting. Surprisingly, the shredded lettuce with the sesame dressing completely stole the show. It was so fresh and perfectly balanced. The cold udon was refreshing and done really well, especially alongside the richer dishes. Service was very good despite how busy it was, and everything came out smoothly. Convenient location and clearly popular. Definitely worth a visit, and I'd come back again.

First time at this location! We were driving back from Sun Peaks to Bellevue and decided to do a quick detour into Vancouver to get some awesome tonkatsu. We usually go to the one on Robson, but this one was actually more convenient for our route. The place is not super big, but very welcoming. We got seated almost immediately and we ordered a Tokuyou rosu katsu, a rosu katsu, a hire katsu curry and a side of menchi cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious, fried to perfection, tender and juicy. The detour proved to be absolutely worth it!

3.5*'s rounded up. When you go to the Arches, expect burgers, aka fast food. When you go to Churchs or KFC, expect fried chicken When you go to Cockney Kings or any fish and chip joint, expect deep fried fish and chips. When you come to Saku, expect deep fried. Almost everything here is deep fried. If this is what you're looking for, this is what you'll get. That said, it was a bit too much for me when I came with a group of ~12 people. 3 orders of an identical "platter". I didn't do the ordering so I have no idea what it was called on the menu. The food was pretty decent, and good for what it was. No complaints from me, except I wished there was more variety. The non deep fried options were limited. Don't expect a salad at McDonalds, so don't expect a salad here. The salad, if you can call it that, was either finely chopped napa cabbage or lettuce. It was good with the dressing. Ambience was casual. Not terribly upscale, nor terribly fast food like. The staff are kids. 18 - 21 years old were the ages of the servers. Attentive and polite. If you're looking for refined service from experienced and seasoned waitstaff, you won't find it here. The age of the patrons was maybe slightly older or the same age range. I get the impression this place is for the foodie instagram crowd. Worth a try, even if it's just once.

Great services and nice ambiance with modern decor. Located at Solo District. The same area with Whole Foods Supermarket. Pay meter street parking or Parking Garage. Only whole foods reimburse parking up to 2hrs with C$20 purchase, as October 2025. Food was fresh, very tasty and crunchy. We ordered 2 of the Zenbu Katsu and got a little of everything. Plenty enough to share for few people in a small group. Especially they offer unlimited rice, salad, miso soup and Salad dressing. Love the Salad dressing. Have a taste of sweetness and nutty. We were seated at the back for a Birthday party. They're very accommodating. Sachie, the manager and her team always checked on us. Refilled the food and drinks. They have table for 6 and 4 at the back. Good place for having a small celebration or meal.

Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Slightly more expensive end but definitely worth the price! I highly recommend trying this place out! Food Every meal comes with unlimited salad, soup, and rice which is really nice. They give you sesame seeds to grind yourself and give you a bit of horseradish sauce, some sea salt and tonkatsu sauce that all tasted really great. The cheese katsu was super good with mozzarella cheese that is perfectly melted and katsu that is nice and crispy. The curry tasted homemade and super good. The salad dressing was a nice gomae styled sauce that tasted super good and addicting. The soup wasn't your typical miso soup as it was like miso soup mixed with pork broth that contained onions and pork pieces. Service The service was amazing as the staff constantly checked up on us and constantly made sure to refill our soup, rice and salad. Ambiance The environment was super clean and had a nice modern feel to the dining experience. Overall I rate this place 5/5 as everything was super good. Only complaint I would have is that it's a bit pricey but for the quality and amount of food you get, it is definitely worth it.

Saku is the place to go if you love katsu. Even if it is way more expensive than in japan, you get the experience and the food is just like in Japan. I got the mini zenbu katsu which has one piece of everything. I really liked the cheese and pork katsu. The best thing for me is the sesame dressing for the salad. It makes the whole meal better because katsu is very oily and doesn't feel healthy to eat. I couldn't finish everything so I had to take my leftovers home. My bf got the katsu curry and seemed to really enjoy it. Though, I don't think this restaurant is ideal for a date. More for friends and family. It seems always full and noisy. Service was not the best, it took a while to get a waiteess to bring us the food and bill.

Yo waitlist is def highly recommended, gotta get on it at least 30 mins prior to when you coming in otherwise it's an 1+ hr for dinnertime. Bulk approved Pro: ebi and hotate with their tartar sauce my god i felt like i kissed the crispiest mermaid. Fresh and perfectly seasoned. Service is also pretty fast and portions are huger than my biceps Cons: tonkatsu itself was a little dry for me. Not sandpaper but not juicy either. The veggies had a little too much batter imo

Saku has a wonderful premium ambiance with a high end take on a casual favourite! Note the rice and sides are fillable so make sure to get your fill! The katsu breading is thick and crispy!

I've been here quite a few times and have enjoyed each visit. I've also gotten to try multiple dishes. My favorite is the particular sesame dressing they use for the salad. Unlimited rice, miso soup, and salad! 1. Rosu katsu 4.5/5 I prefer the hire over the rosu because the rosu can sometimes taste too fatty and oily. 2. Hire katsu 5/5 I prefer the hire because the meat is more lean and less fatty. 3. Menchi katsu 5/5 Menchi katsu is a deep fried minced meat cutlet and this was my favorite item here! Unfortunately the past couple of times I have come, it's no longer on the menu. Perhaps it was a limited time offering...but the meat cutlets were so tender and flavorful! 4. Chicken thigh katsu curry 4.5/5 The curry sauce they use is a tad salty for my preferences. The chicken thigh pairs nicely with the curry though.

Came here again after a great experience last time. Ordered zenbu again but tonight the pork (especially the fatty ones) taste not fresh:( my whole table thought the same too. I'm not sure why such inconsistencies. Good service still.

This location came recommended by a coworker and we decided to check it out today. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rice is perfectly seasoned and the prawn katsu was a very generous size. It was a very delightful combination. They serve you unlimited cabbage salad and miso soup to accompany your meal.

We took awhile to look so we were asked at once point if we were ready and we sis we needed a bit more time so the server was delightfully accommodating and said whenever we were ready to give a server a call. Later on when we were ready our order was taken by a male staff member. We ordered a decent amount. Miso cheese eggplant, chawan-mushi, fried fish collar served in some kind of broth, 8pc nigiri omakase, blue fin tuna&uni hand cone, another hand cone but I can't remember what was in it..wifey ordered it, vegetable tempura and a black truffle dynamite roll. The highlight for me was the black truffle dynamite roll, it's taste was perfect. The right amount of truffle used and not over powering like I've had at so many other venues. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. It was smokey, earthy and tasted wonderful. The miso cheese eggplant was delicious, slightly salty from the miso and wonderfully roasted soft eggplant. The fish colar in broth was light and delicate, beautiful flavor and texture. Chawanmushi was soft and delicate, excellently flavored. The omakase which had fish from Japan was delicious, super fresh and masterfully prepared! The tempura came with a green tea seasalt which was different but very nice. For dessert we had the green tea tiramisu which was very tasty. The restaurant itself is small but cozy and wonderfully decorated. My wife and I had a wonderful meal and I would go back for special occasions.

We sat in a separate section of the restaurant with 3 tables at the front. We ordered chicken wings, assorted tempura, miso black cod and an order of beef teriyaki that was not on the menu. The servings are very small for the prices charged. We found that the chicken wings (only 4 small wings) $9.50 were a bit dry. The tempura batter was not as crisp or crunchy as we've had. The miso black cod was a very small portion - maybe 4 oz. for $18.00. We did not feel that there was value for the money. The food was average and the prices were too high for the quality and amount of food received. We did not enjoy the anime that was playing and we were glad that we were not sitting in the main dining room. Overall, we feel that there are better options for a Japanese meal.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

This is a more theatrical style so expect louder music and a more theatrical experience (eg one of the servers played the flute for the guests celebrating birthdays). I prefer a more intimidate and interactive style of omakase where you can talk with the chefs. This lunch also felt a little fast in terms of progression of the meal. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size.
