My boyfriend and I needed a change to our usual made-at-home lunch salads. I found this place in a few Yelper lists and since I haven't had Mediterranean food really since I lived in Vegas I wanted to try it. We ordered online from their restaurant and it was a smooth experience. The only thing I missed was the tip! They happily took a card when we picked up the food (really great service and super nice!), and my only advice here is to place the tip on the left side of the screen where one is making all their selections so it is not missed. As I have mentioned before we both keep a keto diet and were happy they had a variety of salad options with different meats to add. I had the Shirazi Salad with Chicken Shawarma and added Feta Cheese - so fresh! Loved the cucumber with the lemon and the chicken! My boyfriend had the Greek Salad with Gyro Lamb; he loved how fresh the salad was and how thin and flavorful the lamb was. I really wanted to try the Baklava and the Persian ice cream! Very close to Renown and a dispensary - with ample parking. There is ample seating and tables. Very clean and bright. Not a lot in the way of character, seems like a restaurant in a strip mall, which it is. The owner is always manning the register and he's great. He offers a cup of tea if you are waiting for a to go order. The menu is simple, and easy to navigate even if you don't know much about this kind of food. Ingredients are fresh and plentiful. I love the loaded fries, they are so delicious! Fries with chicken on top, and cheese, and sauce (the sauce is magnificent!) The prices are very good IMO. I ordered the combination shwarma and swapped out two of the sides for extra salad to cut down on carbs. The combination had chicken and beef. Very good mediterranean food which exceeded my expectations. We ordered at the front door but they have many curbside parking spots to scan QR and order without even leaving your car. Really appreciate this contactless order and pickup right now. Delivery was super fast and they even brought us some persian tea. I ordered the falafel platter and it was delicious. If i could do less than one star I would. I got a chicken shawarma plate and the chicken was drier than anything I've eaten and the rice was overcooked unseasoned minute rice with absolutely no flavor. Suri's is taking many precautions during Covid. Ordering is either done online or over the phone and they are only doing curbside pickup. We ordered 2 gyros and an order of hummus and pitas plus an extra pita for dipping. Unfortunately, we didn't check our order before leaving, because once we got home (we live in Carson) we saw that they forgot to give us any pita bread. My husband had to run to the store to buy some naan, so we at least had something to dip in the hummus. The hummus was good, though. The gyros had good flavor, but were inconsistent- one gyro had a ton of meat, while the other had very little. Also, I wasn't a fan of the "pita" that they used for the Gyro - It was more like a thick tortilla than pita bread. Overall, we were a bit disappointed with our experience. read more

Monday's are lunch days. So we try and go to some place new. And this week we found ourselves sliding into Suri's at just the right moment. It was the moment just before the lunch rush hit. We plopped down on a 4 top and waited the few minutes for the food to come out. I had to order the Chicken Kabob with a persian Iced Tea. I've not had Kabob this way before. It had the kabob flavors but it was more of just boneless chicken thigh meat. Not the big meaty chunks I am used to getting. No biggie, just different. The flavors were pretty good. The rice, Oh the rice, it was nice and fluffy. The garlic sauce was excellent, rich and creamy and addictive. The falafel, not my thing. It was slightly hard and very dense. They are targeting the "business" luncher more than anything. Nicer than fast food, but not a "destination" for atmosphere by any stretch of the term. I would probably term it..."gentle utilitarian". I can't wait to go back and get some more of that Persian Iced tea. I'm going to institute a new scale. I'm calling it the visitors index. The index will be a number. Being from the Middle East, you have cravings of authentic food. I had been craving middle eastern food for a few days so I decided to get a chicken shawrma. I know my opinion towards this place can be biased, but I will try my best to keep it real as much as possible. Reno does not have a huge variety in authentic Mediterranean cuisine, but there are a few places that do fulfil the craving. I had ordered this meal through "door dash" for lunch while I was at work. Once I had received my food, it was wrapped in an aluminum foil to keep the pita bread nice and warm. As I ate, the shawrma chicken was seasoned well, but it was a bit hard and I felt there was only scraps of chicken. I tried not to look at the chicken and just eat it because I knew If I looked at it, I would lose my appetite. The chicken shawrma came with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, tahini sauce and garlic sauce which were fresh and tasted well together. Overall, I wasn't so pleased, yet not so disappointed because I came with minimum expectations. I think next time, I will try falafel and the loaded fries and will hope for better meat. I would want to give this place the benefit of the doubt, and try it one more time, hence why I haven't rated them so poorly. read more

Hard to be hard on a place trying to do so many amazing things, and succeeding on many fronts! But when there's another place in town doing some really similar stuff, offering me a firm basis to compare, I can't help but do just that. Suri's and Wrap It Up, by Total Wine, are siblings of sorts, owned by brothers, with similar menus, branding, and flavors. As a raving fan of Wrap It Up, I had to give this place a shot. See I often find myself in and around downtown, and this place would be pretty convenient if I had a craving for shawarma. Well, that shawarma was pretty darn good, and dare I say the beef shawarma at Suri's is better than at Wrap! Both the beef and the chicken were tender, flavorful, well seasoned, and with that signature crunch you want from slow spit roasted meat. Both places offer wraps and platters, so I went with the mixed platter, which includes rice, potatoes, beef and chicken shawarma, shirazi - Mediterranean salad made from marinated tomato, cucumber and onion, hummus and their signature garlic sauce. While that sounds identical to Wrap It Up, the big difference here was the lack of little touches. Wrap It Up serves seasoned rice, while Suri's only uses white basmati, and my beloved pickled turnips, the purple sticks at Wrap It Up that let me know this was the real deal, are not available here. But Suri's has a few signature delicious and authentic additions that are unique to their menu too! Persian Tea, similar to the one I love so much at Naan and Kabab, and Persian Ice Cream with rosewater, saffron, and pistachios. They also have FRESH CUT FRIES, available as a side OR as loaded fries topped with shawarma. Suri's also offers a bit more service than Wrap It Up, and it feels more like a fast casual restaurant than a quick service spot. It was nice today as they sampled both the tea and the ice cream knowing I was a new customer. That said, I'm still undecided on this because I love watching my food be prepared at Wrap It Up and seeing all the great additions I can make to a salad or platter. Overall, this is 4.5 Stars for sure. For me it's the little things I missed knowing these two restaurants are so closely related. Dined here for the first time today and I'll definitely be back. I had the beef shawarma wrap and their hand-cut fries. Yum yum yum! The wrap had both fresh and savory flavors. I originally ordered their potatoes as a side but unfortunately they had run out by the time I got there around 1:10 p.m. That was really the only downside. Since you order at the counter, the service was as good as it gets as the cashier (part of the family that owns the place) was extremely friendly and helpful. The interior could use more of a Mediterranean or Persian touch though. It felt generic and other than what I assume were Greek vases in their refrigerated display, there was nothing other than the menu that let you know what type of restaurant you were in. The perfect amount of lemony tang which is what really makes or breaks this dish for me. I also loovveed the garlic sauce! I could eat that stuff by the bucket full honestly. What really fell short was the Greek salad. I think it doesn't take much to take a Greek salad to the next level, but theirs was basically just lettuce, a few veggies and some feta.
