We always come grab lunch and sit in Tina's section when we are staying at the GSR. She is the best and always takes care of us.

It's been ages since I was here. There were 5 of us in our party. We had a fabulous waiter. I gave 4 stars for the service. He made sure we were all taken care of. I was very pleased that they have gluten-free buns. Back in the day, they had a large menu of shakes. Our favorite was Chocolate covered cherry milkshake. This business is located in the GSR in the basement. My bestie and I got the Bacon and Cheddar burger; she had fries, I did not. I can't remember what the rest of my family got. But everyone was pleased with their burgers, shakes, and fries. We were all so hungry that we didn't get any pictures of our food. I did feel the food was pricey for what we got. The service, on the other hand, was great. Wish I could remember the name of our waiter. I sure hope he gets KUDOS for a job well done. read more

I don't think I've ever had such a bad experience at a food place. The manager who runs this establishment should go have some training on how to properly manage. Seating took 45 minutes since they only had 1 waiter. They also decided to sit my party of 3 in a 2 person table and brought a chair up for my third. Ordering our food took an additional 15-20 minutes. Once our food came out, they got our order wrong and it came out cold. One of our bacon burgers had a depressing amount of bacon. We waited and waited until the server could come and hand us some barbecue sauce that we needed for the extremely dry burger they served (they never came). At that point we just got up and left. I have been to a number of Johnny Rockets locations and this was by far the poorest example. On arrival, there was no staff to be found and over half the tables needed to be bussed. I stood at the Host podium for a few minutes, along with another customer, before. Staff began to appear from a back room. Once acknowledged I was immediately seated. My order was simple... An Original single and a soda. Food arrived reasonably quickly, appearing hot and fresh. However it had no flavor whatsoever. I may as well been eating Styrofoam. The meat was entirely unseasoned. It didn't even pick up any flavor from the sear. An occasional pickle was the only hint of flavor and there wasn't nearly enough to make up for the rest. Even the bun was tasteless. I kept taking exploratory bites but there was simply nothing there. I didn't finish the sandwich and left disappointed. Giving two stars only because the server, when she emerged from the back room, was at least friendly and efficient. read more

Probably the saddest excuse of a location for this chain. My side salad was entirely wilted and tasted of dirt, half the plate was cheddar cheese. Waiter didn't ask what dressing I wanted and when we stopped him to pick one, he said we could swap it out for whatever I'd like and immediately walked away. Didn't check back in. I ended up not eating it anyways. My soda tasted like the machine was moldy. My partners burger was wrong, and the replacement we got was cold with a stale bun. His root-beer float was mostly ice cream with about an inch of soda on top. Great if you love ice cream but that wasn't what we ordered. The only halfway decent item was the hot dog. We both felt ill afterwards. Kitchen was poorly managed, waiters kept bickering at each other for taking each others orders. Lots of food on the shelf not being taken to tables. Only one staff member looked to be over the age of 23. Very poor experience. I don't plan on coming back here next visit to the GSR. read more

Nostalgia led me to suggest Johnny Rockets to my group for a quick meal, as the chain diner was just downstairs from our rooms at the Grand Sierra Resort. As adolescents, we'd go to the Fisherman's Wharf location in SF & to one in Reno whose exact location escapes my memory. No one was too thrilled with their burgers or sandwiches but the worst item were their chicken tenders. I don't believe these were made using chicken breast. (The Yelp pics from a year ago looked to be made with chicken breast.) The portion was generous & the ranch was actually a good one but I don't fvck with pressed meat. Thick breading on the onion rings, the kind that scratches up the roof of your mouth, but I wouldn't say no to any kind of onion ring. Skeleton crew running this sad joint that used to be fun, retro, & exciting to eat at. No dedicated hostess & our poor waiter was overworked with the amount of tables he had to cover. We tipped him generously as he was awesome, given the circumstances. If it wasn't already obvious, skip skip skip Johnny Rockets, at least this Grand Sierra Resort location. read more

Everyone loves Johnny Rockets! This one is one to not skip! We had the pleasure of being served by Tina who was by far the: BEST waitress, we have ever had anywhere. The FOOD was amazing as always: We ordered their Bacon Cheddar Burgers, Onion Rings, Their shake of the week special and the Chicken Strips. It was clean and we really enjoyed the decor in this spot, after frequenting the one in Carson City their decor was a lot different more Nevada and that location actually ended up closing down & we had been missing the Johnny Rocket experience, then we found this one and boy.... Since Johnny Rockets moved downstairs, their quality has dropped significantly. We spent $70 on a bacon burger, six onion rings, a BLT, a kids' grilled cheese and 4 sodas. The onion rings were overcooked, and the rest of the food was just okay. We could have gotten better food and larger portions at a regular fast-food place for less than half the price. Unfortunately, it's just not worth it here anymore. read more

We went to Johnny Rockets before attending a show at the Grand Theater because we wanted a quick, no fuss meal so we can attend the show on time. Our server appeared quickly and processed our order just as speedily. The food arrived in a timely manner; we ordered a Spicy Houston burger, a Rocket Single, the Philly Cheesesteak and a Rocket Dog plus 3 orders of fries (which is NOT included, each costing $4 per order and the fries were mediocre; it was an outrage these costs as much as they did) plus drinks (which costs $5 each and we had to ask for refills). When I received my Rocket Dog, my initial impression was it looked like a hot I can easily get from 7-Eleven but my companions commented that 7-Eleven hotdogs would have been better than this hot dog. The two people who ordered burgers, liked them but my niece said her burger was a little bland and my sister found her burger a bit messy to eat. The Philly Cheesesteak was not good at all: the meat was so burnt that my brother tried to mask the flavor by drowning it in ketchup but in the end it was still inedible. Worst yet, the total tab came out to about $92 sans tip and the only reason this place can get away with it, is because we're a captive audience. Given a choice, we'd choose to go somewhere else next time we're staying at the Grans Sierra Resort. The food is too subpar for these exorbitant prices. The only silver lining of the meal was our server, Ivan. Even though the restaurant was packed, he tried to be attentive, exceptionally friendly and efficient; he was the most positive part of our dismal meal. read more

My friends and I came here for a small snack after trying out the GSR spa on the spa level. They were not very busy when we went, so we were quickly seated at one of the booths in the back. Our server got our orders in a timely manner. I ordered the cheese fries since I was not too hungry. There was a good amount of cheese on the fries! The fries were average. However, last time when I came here, their burgers and milkshakes are amazing! Definitely come here for the burgers and milkshakes! The interior looked clean. The decor is average for my taste, but it all works cohesively together. There is bar seating you do not like the booths. You can also order for takeout go-to. I came here craving for a veggie burger and had pretty high hopes for this place. Coming here was a little disappointing. I gave three stars based primarily on the service and not the food. Let me start off by saying that this Johnny Rockets is located inside the Grand Sierra resort hotel. The restaurant does have an entrance on the side where you don't have to enter from the main hotel, but you can also enter from inside the hotel as well. While sitting at the tables, when someone enters or exits the side door, you can feel a huge gust of wind blow in. It was quite chilly where I was sitting. It felt like a freezer door blowing air at me. Parking appears to be plentiful, but on certain days such as holidays, and weekends where there are show events, parking can be quite the challenge, and when it's cold, have fun walking. Service was pretty prompt, and the menu has many options. I ordered two shakes, both vanilla and strawberry. Upom arrival, I found their strawberry shake is basically just the vanilla mixed unwell with strawberry syrup as the bottom of my strawberry shake was still vanilla. They also don't give you the typical extra metal cup when your normally order shakes from a diner. The shake also comes default with whipped cream, so if you don't like it, you need to tell them not to add it on. Unfortunately I found this out kind of late so had to just deal with the whipped cream in my drink. Next my vegi burger was soggy and fell apart right when I picked it up, which was pretty upsetting. The wheat bun ripped and didn't have much flavor. I didn't ask for it, but my vegi burger came with mustard only, which I thought was kind of strange... because it had no other sauce. Their chili tasted like canned chili with fresh cut onions tossed in and cheese. So all in all, I'm not so sure why this place has such good reviews. read more

I've been here twice in the last year. The common theme? Waiting. Today's experience involved waiting for about 10-15 minutes to simply place a to go order. Seemed to have only one person waiting tables and taking orders and she wasn't in a huge hurry to do either. I ordered the three shakes, then waited another 10-15 minutes for them to get made. When they came out, they had made the order wrong. Rather than waiting still longer, we took the shakes given without so much as an apology from the waiter/cashier who I suspect is also the manager.
