Marinated chicken, cucumber salad, soba noodles and tri colored mochi
A J.

Japanese Bento boxes for this months dinner. Superb! Marinated chicken, cucumber salad, soba noodles and a tri-colored mochi for dessert. A wonderful meal and full a great flavors. These bi-monthly events are great for the community and bring a lot of people together to enjoy food and friendship. Love supporting them and the community support they provide. The meals are pay what you want and add a little more if you want to pay ahead for somebody's meal.

I love going to the Moon Rabbit Cafe every other month! They always post the date and time on their Facebook page or website so be sure to check when the next dinner is. The dinners are usually on Saturdays from 4 pm to 6 or 7 pm. Each dinner has a different theme so it's never the same! This is a pay what you can meal - $5 covers the meal for yourself and $10 covers a meal for yourself and another. There are also volunteer opportunities. Donations are currently accepted on GoFundMe for prepaying in advance or you could pay in person as well (no change for cash currently). With COVID, they've gone with outdoor seating on the lawn, dine-in your car, or drive-through, pick-up, and go. The parking lot is pretty easy to see as you're driving to the location. You'll see all the volunteers outside with a shade covering. They will direct you to where to park and then will walk up to get your order and deliver the food. Their meals are pretty tasty with the different volunteer chefs. In all the meals I've gotten, they usually come with an appetizer, main entree, dessert, and drink. I haven't been disappointed with any dinners yet. Will definitely be stopping by again whenever this community cafe pops up!

Tasty Thai 2: tofu curry

Moon Rabbit Café 225 3/4 W Taylor St, Reno NV 89509 February 2, 2020 Saturday - 5:30 PM for dinner 4 Adults Atmosphere - 5 stars Dinner - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - This pop up restaurant has been on my radar for a long time. The dates and menus are always changing. Atmosphere - Enjoying their new place in Sparks. We were able to grab a table as Brad and I where the first ones in the door. Food Every time Moon Rabbit host they bring a chef from the local community. Tonight events was called Tasty Thai 2! Which made tonight possible for us was that the meal was gluten free. Drinks - Just water for me. Appetizer - We started with Thai salad which featured a lot of peanuts. Nothing to write home about. Dinner - Then dinner was either chicken curry or tofu curry. I am trying to be heathier and went with tofu, shocking the group which was not a surprise to me. I only gave up chicken, it was not cow. There was a lot of rice but the curry sauce was so tasty and I enjoyed this. Dessert - A small clear cup filled with rice pudding topped with a caramel banana yumminess which has a coconut crumble. Service - This is a fund raiser for the church. We arrived at 5:30 and was told 30 minute wait, it was really an hour. So waiting a bit was not an issue when you go with great friends. As you leave you can make your donation for pay what you can dinner. They recommend $10 a person, which is a steal. Future - Yes please.

This pop-up event is an event that provides a tasty meal for the community. It is donation based and held together by volunteers, so those who cannot afford to donate can have a good meal too. For those who are more privilaged, I would encourage you to donate more than the suggested $5. This is a delicious meal for a good cause. The theme changes and today's event's theme is Middle Eastern. They have a Facebook page, and they are always looking for a chef. We were all greeted as we entered, and sat at a community table. All the staff were very attentive and passionate about the cause. My group had mint tea and water to drink. The meal included an appetizer, main and dessert. (Pictures provided) The meal was authentic, confirmed by my middle eastern friend, who also was in attendance. I truly enjoyed this experience. Great food and great company. I was hesitant to write this review because I didn't feel like the staff was excited about advertising. I didn't really get clarity on what they meant but I will guess that they want to make sure people are attending for the cause and not taking advantage. A good balance of different people to contribute and benefit from this event would be ideal. They have a limited amount of people they can serve for the event. I'm glad we have such a supportive community here.

What an excellent place to sit with members of your community, enjoy a delicious meal, and chat with your companions. Moon Rabbit Cafe lives inside the Reno Buddhist Center and serves a community meal on Saturdays from 4-8. This pay-what-you-can mentality is vital to their mission, ensuring that even the most downtrodden among us have the opportunity to partake in a wholesome, delicious meal. They request a $5 donation if you can. The chef for the evening is different each time, and if you're a budding chef/sous chef/chef-in-training, they are looking for more people to take up the Moon Rabbit Helm for the evening. This month, Chef Naaz Rejoub, owner of Reno's Midtown Market, was the chef of the evening and prepared delicious Middle Eastern fare for us. Our resident Middle Eastern food expert, Linda H., declared it delicious, a resounding endorsement. The menu included tabbouleh (parsley and bulgar salad with lemon, tomatoes, and olive oil), hummus, gyros, dolmades (flavored rice wrapped in grape leaves), chai cupcakes, and baklava. Everything was fresh and delicious. In addition to eating a fantastic meal, I'm now super excited to go check out the market Chef Rejoub owns. We were welcomed graciously and frequently by everyone there, and the volunteer servers did an excellent job at keeping us all fat and happy. Definitely follow Moon Rabbit Cafe on Facebook to see when the next dinner is, you won't be disappointed.

Once a month my family looks forward to visiting the Moon Rabbit Café. Used to be a hidden treasure but now that word is out, it simply remains a treasure! Downstairs in the Reno Buddhist Center, be prepared for a warm and genuine welcome, family style seating with a healthy menu that satisfies all tastes and diets. Each month we see foods from different countries featured, this most recent visit was a salute to the French palette, with a plated "Coq au Vin', an appetizer of Gruyere crostini with a delicious onion jam. Always a vegetarian option available. A wonderful dessert always awaits along with your choice of beverages. I really recommend the Moon Rabbit Café for its fun food, charming atmosphere, meeting new friends and being made to feel they are so glad you came to enjoy! This is a 'pay as you can' meal and a totally worthwhile experience!

The inside has that old school diner and saloon vibe people always mention, a little dark, a little busy, with memorabilia on the walls and a bar that looks like it's been there forever. It's not trying to be trendy, more of a local hangout with a lot of character and a steady crowd of regulars. If you go on a weekend, expect a wait because it gets packed. Service was excellent. Even with the place being full, everything ran smoothly and the staff stayed friendly and attentive the whole time. It felt like they actually care about making sure you're taken care of, not rushing you in and out. Definitely a strong point of the experience. For food, we had the chicken fried steak and the French toast. The chicken fried steak was exactly what you want from a place like this, large portion, hearty, and satisfying. The French toast was a nice balance to that, a little lighter but still rich and comforting. Overall, it's solid, no nonsense comfort food that hits the spot. This is the kind of place you go when you want a real meal and a laid back atmosphere. Would highly recommend. Great value and service!

PJ's is a just a good ol'fashioned diner and I mean this in the best way possible. The restaurant has a comfortable, rustic feeling and the staff are warm and welcoming. Like you came to their home for a meal. My wife and I split the French Toast Platter, which was 2 slices of French Toast, eggs and we ordered the link sausage. The French Toast was solid. Just good basic French Toast. Nothing bougie, just good French Toast. The eggs were eggs but the sausage was quite good. Rich with flavor. The coffee, while unusually expensive for a dinner, was just meh. Nothing special nor nothing terrible. If you are looking for a good, warm, welcoming place for diner food, PJ's just might be the place.

Was surprised it had a second floor with a small deck and pretty decent views! Big place. Great Happy Hour Deals (half off drinks) and other specials. I haven't eaten breakfast there but the burger I'd put in the top 4 in Reno. It is giant diameter wise but the meat is the same amount of a smaller thicker burger which makes it no too hard to eat. I'd call this a Purist's Burger. Crisp lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mustard, sauce. They went really light on the sauce to the point I didn't think it had any. Fries were excellent too. Price is very reasonable (that's typical near a college.) I've tried Royce, Juicy's, and The Parlor. I'd put Archies below Royce and Parlor but above Juicy's. Two left on my list are Armando & Son's Butcher Shop and of course Beefy's.

We found parking right away. We noticed the large banner outside touting best burgers. Was craving fish and chips, buttttt decided to go with a burger. Ricardo was our server.. we were greeted as we were stepping through the door. Told to take a seat anywhere. Ricardo recommended "any" burger with a smile. I asked whether I should order onion rings or fries, he said order the Texas Toothpicks.. Combo of beer battered onions and jalapeños. Ok let's do this. Richard's must have checked in on us 5-7 times during our meal, great service! Actually we had an entire conversation about his service, friendly, efficient, quick, chatty, and gets the order right! Order Bloody Mary served with banana pepper, green olive and lime.. no salted rim, which is fine, missing salty component for me BECAUSE I LIKE SALT... Drink was GOOD. Bloody Mary and Corona brought icy cold within two minutes. Jalapeno burger and fries son loved his burger! Son felt his burger had appropriate amount of salt and great char crusting. Garlic butter burger and Texas Toothpicks which is beer battered onions and jalapeños. In my opinion this burger starts with the bread.. Delicious soft bun that actually fits the patty. The patty had a nice sear on it, it was under seasoned and almost well done. The burger was lacking salt component to complement the garlic. Had the burger been seasoned, and had I have ordered it medium rare, (my mistake) it would have been really good. The burger did come without condiments which I appreciate because I can put my own in appropriate amounts to my liking. I added a pinch of salt, no complaining and we were good to go! I didn't even eat 1/4 of my food! The burgers and portions were HUGE!! The Texas Toothpicks were really good, a good fry was achieved on them. They held up to being dipped in ranch. 1/2 order hot wings and fries The wings were ordered breaded and hot. They had a good crisp, and were fried appropriately! Good amount of salt. The fries were served super crispy, piping hot and perfectly salted. The order came with carrots and celery without having to ask. Ranch.. Ranch is a serious condiment in our household with food like this. It was good. An appropriate amount was served with wings, and of course for us fries and ranch go hand in hand. The restaurant was clean, all staff was friendly and great service!!!

We ups recommend both of those. This is the problem--we ordered to go so we could take back to work. The first bite of the burrito was charred. Tasted that way. Figured maybe the knife that cut it was covered in something, so ate some off other half, same thing. I tore off both cut ends. Now, I know it's the burrito. This burrito should have had only cheese, eggs, bacon, and potatoes. It was missing cheese (which, ironically, may have made the completely charred bacon doable). You'd think it'd be even easier to make, not having to cook sausage, too. This bacon was not just burned. It was inedible. Because the restaurant was now closed and we couldn't leave work, I had nothing but a horrible taste in my mouth. It looked so good. I like crispy bacon, the burrito was hot. But I don't even know if meat this burnt is unhealthy. There's no way they didn't notice, that's the worst part, they still added it to the burrito. $12, no sides (you can have salsa, I have them keep it, why waste?). We'll try it again. Two previous things we noted: not real butter or mayo, if this matters to you. Spanish rice is basically tomato rice. Soups are good for the most part. Eggs are good. Prime rib is good for the price. Service is usually good. The restaurant is old but clean.

Went pretty well with the other parts of the meal. I have to admit I was a little surprised the biscuit was a bit dense and dry--still tasted fresh/made, just a bit off in terms of size and taste compared to the rest of the stuff on the plate. We also got the beignets, which came with a nice bourbon sauce, but sadly a few of them weren't cooked all the way through. The interior was very bright (lots of windows) and clean, and the service team behind the counter was very pleasant. Also, I thought the price was fantastic for the special--like $14.95-for a very satisfying and overall well-made meal. We'll be back to try other stuff on the menu.
