The one area they could improve is the service. The staff sometimes feel a bit rushed and not super helpful, especially if you're new or asking questions about their drinks. They don't always take the time to explain things. To be honest it's more like they just want to take your order and move on to the next customer. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5. Great drinks and quality beans make it worth visiting, but the higher prices and inconsistent service keep it from being a regular favorite for me. This time it was an entirely different drink. We just took it and left. While coffee is not ultra expensive, it is more expensive for what it is so it's frustrating in a way. The staff was incredibly friendly, though, and we were seated as soon as they could. It did take about 15 minutes before a server was able to come over and take our order, but the restaurant was completely packed, so it's something to keep in mind if you're in a hurry. After spending the day at the beach, we were really just in the mood for drinks. I ordered the Blood Orange Margarita, which can be served with Tajín, sea salt, or no rim at all. It was really good and definitely on the stronger side, which I appreciated. My only complaint was that there was a bit too much ice, but the flavor itself was great. The atmosphere is what really makes this place stand out. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, large open windows that let in plenty of fresh air, and a fun, lively vibe that makes it a great place to relax after a beach day. That's one of the things I love about the San Diego area--it just has a peaceful, laid-back atmosphere. The food was really good. The pork BBQ was my favorite, my little one couldn't get enough of the adobo, and the halo-halo was amazing. It was so good that we ended up ordering a second one! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and they made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. It was just an enjoyable meal all around. It was one of those flavors that I think everyone would enjoy if they tried it. My friend had the lechon sisig which I tried and thought was also good. I also tried the lychee beer which was super delicious and did not taste beer-like or alcoholic at all. It was more like a sweet treat to enjoy. This restaurant is tucked away. I remember walking in a little later on a weekday with a friend and the restaurant was completely empty except 3 other people. I hope they get more business (if they haven't already) because their food is great and it was easy to find parking I am looking forward to coming here again and trying new dishes. I have been a very loyal customer to Java Hut, but unfortunately after my experience today with the manager (Anita) I will no longer be returning here or continue to recommend Java Hut to friends, family or coworkers. I don't expect to be so rudely talked to and disrespected especially by a manager of an establishment. After she embarrassed myself and my friend she continued to go off on another paying customer. What I hope Anita realizes today is that she lost 3 paying customers. I saw in a previous response on a negative review that "Anita" prides herself on customer service, please don't waste your time to respond back because obviously customer service is not what you pride yourself on. read more

Service was friendly enough. We did sit outside since it was such a nice morning. There was a homeless lady who was pulling her wagons through and knocked down the menu board nearby twice. It wasn't too disruptive but I would've been fine without that happening too.
