I have been wanting to try Superstitions for awhile. For one thing, they are close to where I live. They are also very close to where I workout. And, they have my favorite donuts in the whole wide world. Today, was gonna be the day! When I arrived, I knew what donut I wanted, but I didn't know what drink to try. When I looked at the menu, Unicorn Tea caught my eye. I was asked if I wanted it sweetened or more natural . I was so happy to hear that I had a choice! I went with natural! I also got to pick my own straw! The drink was perfect! And to add to the fun, it was my favorite color...purple! I can't believe this adorable new place is so close to home. Great find for us! The girl working the counter was so friendly and helpful and I love this superstitious themed decor and name. It's a fun space to hang and have a coffee and bakery bite, but I noticed they also have a mobile app and option to preorder ahead and come grab and go. I tried the seasonal pumpkin chai and added a couple espresso shots. The flavor was nice, only suggestion would be that the temperature was a little hotter, because after about five minutes I wished I was at home so I could reheat it. I will go back, and at some point, I'm going to have to try the unicorn tea in addition to more coffee drinks! read more

My wife was excited to see this is now open and receiving great reviews so we decided to stop in on Sunday morning before running errands. The interior is cute and cozy feeling and provides space to sit and enjoy your coffee and pastries. We were immediately greeted by two friendly baristas who were helpful and efficient. When a business posts hours of operations, I expect them to be open. Businesses must understand that the public makes accommodations in their schedules in order to stop at businesses. Superstitions Java has an opening time of 6:00 am. I stopped by at 6:30 and was greeted by a locked door. The barista was inside working on what I can only believe was an online order since their phone goes to voicemail with no room for a message. Superstition Java certainly brings a much-needed presence to the North Valleys, as our part of town desperately needed to have a coffee shop that wasn't The Buck or some grocery store coffee alcove. This joint has a very neat, quirky aesthetic which looks like a blend of the Wicked Witch and Hippy-Cat-Lady. It provides a comfortable, more laid-back sort of spot to grab a drink or a bite, which is very welcome indeed. Using locally roasted beans from Woodfire Roasters, the menu, of course, has all the usual coffee and espresso drinks you'd expect, along with plenty of house specialties and concoctions. For instance, the Kona Frappe is very nice, maybe my favorite thing on the menu. Love Potion #9, espresso, horchata and spices, is also delicious. The Bermuda Triangle is a blended lemonade slushie flavored with mango, strawberry, and coconut that is quite refreshing. For the more whimsical, there is even Unicorn Tea on the menu. And there is a selection of drinks just for youngsters, too. Should you want something to munch on, there are a good few options for that, too. Bagels, pastries, and muffins are all available, as well as assorted toasts with toppings and spreads. Prices for everything are pretty decent. The plain coffee is a steal, getting a good cup of local Joe for less than $2. The rest of the menu, including specialty drinks and food, will run you maybe a few cents more than other similar sorts of coffee shops, however. Service has always been friendly and relatively prompt. Parking is abundant and very easy, plus they are on Grubhub here, and it is clear that a lot of folks order to-go from here, which I can imagine is a great boon to us North Valleys folks. And as said previously, the décor is quirky, and atmosphere very laid back, with wifi and power outlets available if you want to hang around for a bit. All in all, I am very happy to have Superstition Java in our area. We were certainly in desperate need of a more down to earth coffee shop, and I can tell many others likewise enjoy seeing them here. I stopped by here for a quick hangout with a friend, and it is definitely a bit out of the way from my home, so I had never stopped here before. I got the Mexican Mocha, which had something a little spicy in it - cinnamon? Cayenne? I'm not sure, but it paired very well with the theme of the drink. They had A TON of different choices, so it was hard for me, a usual fan of black coffee, to really nail down what I wanted, but I certainly will be back someday to try other options. read more

Atmosphere - Part of the strip mall with Long Board Pizza which is our go to pizza joint in the North Valleys. All the footprints in the strip mall are long and narrow including Superstitions Java's. The faux bricks felt cheap, that is my biggest down side in the interior. Their logo is a black cat which is perfect for a name like Superstitions Java. Love the pictures of superstitions. The bike jersey with matching bibs with the number 13 were perfect. As a new business the initial setup of the place was clearly designed for COVID social distancing in place. The place which you place your order has Plexiglas between you and the cashier. Drinks - Mocha is my go to coffee house drink. I would have preferred to sit and have my drink there, I could see they had mugs too. My wife and I are not comfortable with that yet. The mocha was hot but could have been hotter. Nice and chocolatey, smooth mouth feel to the drink. Food - They do have some food items prepared by other businesses, but I had none. My wife did discover they have gluten free treats. Service - Three ladies are working, and they all individually greeted us as we enter the business and made our way to the counter. Coffees where made quickly and we were on our way. Really great coffee shop next to the yogurt beach on Golden Valley. This location offers curbside pick up and indoor dinning. I opted for the curbside pick up. Super easy, and had my order done quickly! The staff is very friendly. I ordered the Avocado toast, which was delicious, I really recommend it, and I paired it with their London fog, so yummy. Used to really like this place but the last several times I've been here I've been really disappointed with the incredibly slow service. Today I actually had to walk out without my drink because after 25 minutes of waiting I couldn't make myself late for work. There was no acknowledgement from the staff, names were being taken at the register but not called and if they were being called we couldn't hear anything. So now I'm out $12, late for work and thirsty. This is the 4th time we have visited here and had this experience. Easily my new favorite coffee shop! I ordered a huckleberry and lavender oak milk latte and it was the perfect amount of sweet! The avo toast was so good that my hubby ordered seconds. Nice big thick slices of sourdough with the right proportions of toppings. My 6yr old got a blackberry italian cream soda he raved about. The interior was super cute! We snagged the couch for our family so that was fun! I'm old school so I prefer a menu to hold rather than scrolling on a little phone, esp before caffeine! Plus, the baristas are so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Even in these days of changing restrictions, they've managed to stay true to their game. This is an excellent example of why I prefer boutique coffee shops over chains. The service and ambiance was relaxing, welcoming and had a homey (albeit, badass) feel to it. The barista who helped me explained the menu offerings, made suggestions, took care making my drinks, and even helped me carry my drinks to the car (I had an infant in a carrier with me and it would have otherwise required two trips)! That was so appreciated! I love the bulletin board with local business cards and happenings posted, which I feel like you don't see much these days. Response from owners post: Both IG and facebook pages show a crew member with short hair on posts from November. Yes, owner did reach out HOWEVER there was no acknowledgement of my experience AFTER I explained my experience to her. Not even a "Thank you, we will look into this". If my order does not exist then why would I have a cleared bank charge for this establishment on 10/28/2020? What about surveillance footage between 7-8am? Was this not reviewed? What I'm curious is how it is assumed/falsely claimed that I'm affiliated with a competitor coffee shop? Is it because of the ethnicity? If so that could be considered racial profiling. I do support local business and base my reviews based upon MY experiences regardless if it is locally owned or franchise. Isn't that what yelp is for? While you may have passed OSHA and Health Department inspections recently, it does not mean that I based my review off. After I had placed my order I was informed that there were no more plain bagels (wish I was told this before at time of order), the hot chocolates tasted like milk with a HINT of chocolate, honestly no chocolate taste to them. The Mexi Mocha tasted like I ordered a hot drink/water with spices. In regards to the bagels I ended up getting two everythings and a raisin cinnamon. This was our first time in and honestly don't think I will be back in as I was not impressed with the drinks.
