My friends and I came here yesterday and were quickly greeted by our server, Eric. The atmosphere is cozy and there is inside and outside seating available. We chose to sit at their backyard patio. Eric gave us recommendations on the menu for kava. I appreciate that the drinks can be adjusted for sweetness. I ordered the kava chai (whole milk) and the Tahoe sunrise which came with complimentary biscoff cookies. We also tried traditional bowl of kava, which has a very earthy taste. The kava chai and Tahoe sunrise were delicious and refreshing. Kava has an analgesic (soothing/calming) effect throughout the body. I felt the effect not long after drinking the kava chai. We enjoyed our time here, the cozy atmosphere, great service and refreshing drinks contributed to a wonderful time. read more

First- Eric who served us is AWESOME! It was my first time trying kava, and he was super patient and knowledgeable. I had a cool experience with kava and others that came into the kava bar made it even better. There were kids playing games, adults just hanging out. It is so cozy in there. I was chilly and they even had blankets and pillows to get cozy. We stayed 3.5 hours without even noticing it! I will be back. Went to insomnia cookies and we couldn't resist checking out a cup of tea or two. The four of us sat down all trying different teas that were served by the wonderful owners and served in cute French presses. We all had unique cups. Tea is delicious and loved my little butter cookies that came with it. It's cozy and there are fun games to play while there. Loved the bathroom chandelier and the bunny poop sign. Gotta see it to laugh. I will be going back. It's a great late night stop without the alcohol but they've got Kava. read more

This is my favorite place to get a drink and sit on my computer. It's such a vibe in here, it's small but makes it feel very comfy. The owner is extremely nice and very passionate about kava which I love. The workers are always friendly and recommending drinks if you are new. They have board games, WiFi and they have bingo nights. They are open late and have a comfy couch to sit on and read, write or some some homework. I absolutely love this spot, it's one of my favorite places in Reno! You have to check it out, people also tend to go to insomnia cookies which is right next door. Visited Reno Roots while looking for a Kava Bar. I use to visit one in Northern California when I lived there and found a few options that helped me with relaxation. I dropped in a few weeks ago and tried one of their mixed drinks and picked up a few items to take home. The drink was very heavy on the Kava flavor, making it a little hard to drink. I also picked up a pack of Kava candy. They are strong on the kava taste as well but also didnt really help with relaxation. The staff there are super friendly and helpful. Not sure why the kava here did'nt effect me as well as the kava I tried in CA. If you like the taste of Kava, give this place a try. It's always nice to try new places and discover places locally in Reno. I didn't know what kava was so i asked the barista/cashier. I was told "it's kava." lol, well what is kava? Then I was told it is a stimulant made from tea leaves and the tone kind of implied it wasn't your "normal" tea that was kid/baby friendly. I was honestly not interested in this esp because I was here with babies, so I just ordered a couple of their boba drinks. Highly don't recommend their boba. Boba wasn't chewy and had no flavor or sweetness, milk tea flavors were very light/water down tasting. Other than that, the place is cute. This is by far my favorite boba place in Reno. Starting with the location, it's in the perfect spot by the university and is very walkable. Parking can sometimes be sparse so be aware of that. When you walk in, you are immediately greeted with friendly tea tenders and a very comfortable environment. They are also very dog friendly and always give some treats to my pup! My dog gets more excited to get boba than I do sometimes!! They have games and movies playing and everyone is so friendly! Their boba selection is very large and they have crafted some pre-made combos as well as a build-it-yourself option. If you're wanting to get something different they have options of Kava and Kratom. The staff is very knowledgeable about the two teas and have plenty of recommendations if you're trying it for the first time. Beware that both types of teas can affect people differently and may make you too impaired to drive for a little bit. There was one time where I got boba that was undercooked and I voiced that. When I came in next time, I got a free tea with perfectly made boba. This is not a common occurrence but can happen every once in a while. I'd like to add that their rewards system is great -you get 1 point/$1 and can redeem any free drink after 50 points. They have daily specials and deals that are great to save some money. Let's all pray and bless the City of the Reno "Health Dept", will relax and come to the Modern World (it's legal to brew/server everywhere but here), where they let the owners brew their own, as it comes out to a perfect 100 mg Kava lactones or within a reasonable % of that amount, which for most people is a perfect amount. Brewed Kava tastes amazing, it's taste like Mother Earth with a Spicy, a little tongue numbing, then it goes straight to the muscles and CALMS them Down, and you Thought Hawaii, didn't have AN AMAZING SECRET, While they ARE SO RELAXED? All Kava does is relax your body like alcohol, but keeps your mind alert, so you can see the City of Reno Health Department, only wants people drunk (and gambling) and is okay with the risks of those people driving and putting others at harm! Why have and allow a Sober Alternative, that doesn't make any sense, right?
