3/27/22 Yes, Yelp scores this play 4.5+. Yes, they're lying to you. There is no way any self-respecting Vietnamese person would say this place is among they best they've ever had (what I interpret 4-5 stars out of 5 to mean). So a few things: it was cold, and there are no heaters outside. Also, the chopsticks are plastic. Now, usually you'd think disposable utensils are cheap and inferior, but any serious chopsticker knows plastic chopsticks are a NO GO for noodle soup. Wooden/bamboo, and especially cheapo rough-cut disposable chopsticks are faaaar preferable for obvious reasons. Hope you're good with chopsticks, else, there's no shame in asking for a fork. I mean, it's either that or starve right? And... our cashier looked like he hated his job, or had a really bad day. Well, I guess if dude, you had a bad day, sorry. Hope you got to eat something from outside for lunch, or dinner. I would be unhappy if I had to eat your food daily too. A3. Fried Chicken Wing $10.50: Their wings look like they came from game hens. At least they're relatively juicy. 4/10 1. Super Pho Combination $15.40 "w. rare steak, well done brisket, beef balls": Yeah, this is basically one of the worst bowls of pho I've had in the last 5 years. When the girl sitting at the table next to us exclaimed, "The broth is SO delicious!!!," I nearly choked. Then the mom said something akin to everything being "amazing." I almost died at this restaurant of a heart attack--it was that close. Look, I dunno what soup they've had, but I've had literally about a hundred or so phos over the last 5 years and this broth is definitely in the lower 10%. Secondly, their noodles are all broken, none being longer than 3". And the WORST thing is--yes, their description is actually ALL you get. If you frequent Vietnamese restaurants you probably blasted right past the words "rare steak, well done brisket, and beef balls" cuz nearly almost all #1's at any other place include other meats such as fatty brisket, tripe, etc.... nope, none of that. Also, they don't do "rare steak" correct. It was well done by the time they put the bowl in front of me. The right way of course being raw before pouring the soup on top. So all I got was a about 4-5 small slices of toughass overcooked meat and some ballz. Hell, they're stingy with the veggie toppings too. Yeah, I know, usually I waste half of the typical toppings they give, but be prepared--they will give you 1/3rd as much as their competitors. $15-16 bucks man. It ain't cheap. One of the most expensive pho bowls I've had, and one of the worst. 1/10 Also a fact: in the patio (the only seating) there are about a dozen tables, most full when we came. I dropped like 60 bucks here for two but I did order two pho, one appetizer spring roll, and 3 drinks. Not sure why it was so expensive, maybe I need to review my receipt lol. But I would say the beef pho was good. Huge portions. The shrimp pho that was sister got was another story. It was in chicken broth. I asked my sister how hers was and she gave me a look and said "it's ok" with a smile. I decide to give the broth a try and before I even try it, I decide to smell it and sure enough, it smells "piggy". I taste it and it tastes weird. I decide to give her half of my beef pho. Would not recommend anything not on the menu! The chicken pho broth might not be popular so I wonder if that's why it tasted weird? Anyway, the spring rolls were decent. Giving it a 3.5... I first came to Super Super years ago when they first opened and was amazed by the affordable prices and delicious vermicelli. I visited for takeout recently and the prices have skyrocketed since then. All entrees are over $10 now and they did not give very much in my shrimp vermicelli dish. Yet they were more generous with my husband's grilled pork vermicelli. I would hope they've give the same portions for each of their bowls. In terms of flavor, it was solid. Well-cooked noodles and prawns. Takeout took about 15mins on a weekday evening at 7pm. They have a parking lot and free residential parking. read more

Very solid pho place and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Here's why: Food: B+ The pho was spot on and well made. Each bite was soothing and very smooth to the taste. The meat was tender and delicious. The spring rolls were also solid! The egg rolls were a bit smaller than expected (4 mini taquito-looking rolls) but tasted pretty good, but something felt...missing? But we enjoyed this place also due to proximity. Staff: A Staff was awesome and super friendly. Seemed like they cared about their craft and the cleanliness of their restaurant. Price for Quantity/Quality: B Definitely got a full meal's worth for what we paid. Pho averages about $13.50 (including tax) so pretty solid and egg rolls and spring rolls were really reasonable for what you got. When you're craving pho or banh mis you need to check out this mom and pop shop! I have my usual go-tos but I've been making more of an effort to try new places outside of my comfort zone. What's great about this place is that even though it's located on San Pablo, they have a parking lot in the back for customers in addition to street parking. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with such happiness by the older man tending the front (maybe the owner?). So how it works here in comparison to other places is that you pay up front at the register & then take your seats. Water here is self service & bathrooms are outside the restaurant through the patio. It seems like they only have one size for their pho so think around $10 for a bowl. We got the #1 and a roasted chicken banh mi. Both were tasty! We weren't expecting much when coming here but the broth was piping hot & rich & filled with what seemed like 2 portions of noodles per bowl. The banh mi was warm & was filled with tasty roasted chicken. My only con with the banh mi is that it had too much sauce for my liking & we wished the carrots had a more pickled flavor. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the nicest older man - he was so cheerful and kind. The way the restaurant works is that you step up to a counter to order your food, are handed a number to place on your table and then a server will bring your food out to you. My partner and I ordered a pork banh mi, and two combination phos. First, let's talk about the banh mi! The bread was pillowy soft and buttery while the pork was super flavorful. I can see why this place is named Super Super - it's super delicious. My partner and I were so impressed by the banh mi that we ordered another one to take home. This place has the best bahn mi bread in the area. It's toasty and buttery, soft but not tough, its the best part of the sandwich. I enjoyed my sandwich but the meat was boring and didn't add much. Nothing special really, but we got our food semi-quickly. Drove the 12+ miles home and dug in. Sadly, my sandwich was hella soggy! Bread was on the softer side; I think they use French bread? over the French baguette cause it was a different shape as well. I could totally see the sandwich being bomb if it wasn't soft/soggy. And I love my condiments, but it seemed like there was way too much of their sauce in there. They were super sweet, friendly, and had lots of smiles to go around :') A few regulars came in while we were there, which was nice to see and cute interactions to watch. They two bathrooms in their outdoor area and it was clean. The food service was really fast and the staff were super friendly. It seems like a great family owned place. Food: We got their banh mi sandwiches: one tofu and one pork. They were both really good and their spicy garlic sauce was a great addition to the flavor of the sandwich. I'm not sure what it was but it was gooood! The tofu was crispy, but lacked a tad of flavor. I would recommend using their sauce to help. The bread was very soft and I really loved it! This is a nice simple restaurant for a quick pho. My dad and I came here a couple of weeks ago and they were only offering outdoor dining, which was great since they had a shed over on the patio and there were cool breezes coming through while the weather was still warm. We both had the Beef Pho and they were pretty good. The broth was tasty as well. Nothing exceptional but definitely good. My biggest problem was the cleanliness, or rather the lack of it. When we sat down at the table that the server cleaned, the table was wet from the wipe. So I dried the table myself with tissues, and shrugged it off. When I checked the chopsticks, you bet they were dirty as well as the container it was in. I'm not sure how many hands brushed over the open chopsticks before one was picked out, but I am sure it's unhygienic given the virus going around and simply because a lot of people don't wash hands. I like to think my immune system is built better than all the preventable attacks from the restaurant and it became my only source of assurance while I happily slurped on the pho. We only tried their pho to go for several times, but so far we only have an only great experience! We have tried chicken and beef pho, and both tasted terrific. The portion is big enough for us; I usually share one with my husband for lunch. The warm broth with full aromas fulfills the appetite. The other thing I want to note here is I like the way they pack the noodles, soup, vegetables, and herbs separately. I like that Super Super is a locally owned restaurant and that they seem to have a loyal following. I'm afraid I'm just not one of them. After ordering online to pick up (through GrubHub- since that was the only option I could find), the order was ready within the 20 minute window given, and pick up was safe/easy. I ordered 3 banh mi- 2 chicken & 1 pork, plus fresh tofu spring rolls because I wanted something lighter (and remembered not being a fan of their banh mi, but couldn't recall why). When I got home, I realized my tofu spring roll order got changed to a banh mi I thought it was my mistake, but after checking my order, realized it was theirs. But I ate it and remembered that it's the creamy mayonnaise-based sauce in their banh mi that I don't like. I'm not mayo-adverse but it's a lot. Maybe this is what everyone loves, but I don't. The pickled veggies were fresh, the bread fine, but the sauce masked that really yummy fresh sweet/hot veggie flavor that I love. Everyone else gobbled their sandwiches, with only my mayo-loving daughter agreeing that there was too much sauce. Lesson learned? Their combo banh mi sandwich is their best item by far - they put some Mayo or aioli type sauce that isn't really "authentic" but gives an interesting spin on your typical banh mi.
