Fast, fresh, and flavorful! Nom Nom has been serving up my SO's favorite banh mi in Berkeley for the last few years and they're a local gem. The lady owner is super sweet too. Prices are a bit on the high side from the hole-in-the-wall type banh mi places in less expensive areas, but the sandwiches are a solid size and the flavors are super tasty. My personal favorites are the lemongrass beef (#5 - The Highlands) and the grilled pork (#9 - Tra Vinh) super flavorful and quality cuts of meat. My SO prefers the egg (#10 - Late Riser) or the classic combo (#3 - District 3) with eggs added. Also try the lychee iced tea or the iced coffee, both super good! Unfortunately over the last few years the portion sizes have gotten a little smaller for both meat in the sandwich and for the drinks, but the quality has remained the same. The bread is so fresh and soft (I prefer that over a hard roll) and the flavors were intense, perfectly paired and amazing. I don't usually like cilantro and I ate the sandwich as is- with the cilantro. I am traveling for work, but honestly all I can think about is when I can come back and have another one. If I recall the menu correctly, this sandwich is vegan. I was full off of one (they also ask if you want those toppings, so you don't have to have them), but I can see why a previous yelper ordered 2 for themselves- it is that good! We were taking a late afternoon stroll on Telegraph when we happened to walk past Nom Nom. It was empty inside, but I caught a glimpse of the Banh mi prices ($8/ea) and I was interested.
