Thai tea and House Vietnamese Coffee
    Ally B.

I've been meaning to try this place and i'm sad that i haven't tried this place sooner! The meat was so delicious and you can tell that they took time marinating it. The staff was so nice and friendly. Will definitely be coming back! Support local businesses!

I was looking for food in the area and came across Comeback Cafe. The food was really good, and the drinks were even better. I tried the peach tea and it actually has real peach pieces, which was a nice surprise. Everything felt simple, fresh, and the place had a friendly, welcoming feel!!!

    Tofu banh mi
    Ellie R.

I got the tofu banh mi and it's INCREDIBLE!! Such a great balance of sweet, spicy, and acidic, and the texture of the tofu is fantastic. If I didn't know it was tofu, I wouldn't be able to tell! The service was so friendly and personable, and the shop itself is really cute with indoor and outdoor seating available. Already can't wait for my next visit!

    Chicken vermicelli with eggroll

First, the store is really cozy gives off a nice and welcoming vibe. Family owned business so her recipes are all authentic. When I walked in I was greeted immediately with a warming smile asking "how can I help you". Food was made to order, always fresh. This vermicelli tasted really good has a lot of flavor, adding the nuoc mam really makes this dish explode with flavor. Reminded me of my grandma's cooking Definitely would recommend to try this family owned business out, they recently re opened with a new owner. Although the menu is limited there's a lot of great choices to choose from. Will definitely be coming back again!

Food was great. Visiting for work from SoCal, so lucky to find some comforting food while I'm out here.

Pork Sausge Banh Mi. Holy Smokes. Surprisingly a BANGER.

Hidden Gem Alert. Viet Auntie vibes making your food. The Banh Mi bread is fresh and soft and the flavors are balanced and on point. Had no idea they have been here for a year. Come support your local banh mi spot, it's fire. Service is great too. Family vibes

The beef & onion Banh Mi. Excellent gateway sandwich for those new to Banh mi.

It's my go to sandwich spot for lunch. IMO the sign of a good Banh mi is the baquette. If the place cares enough for the quality of the bread then you know the rest will follow. I've yet to try the other sandwiches they offer because my American taste palette is all about their beef and onion. Sweet and savory ribeye! After talking to the store owners and trying their Ube Vietnamese Iced Coffee I'm definitely encouraged to try the rest of the menu.

The beef pho was ok. The broth was on the sweet side. The sticky rice (zoi man) was fantastic though. It came with quail egg, pate, Vietnamese ham, sweet sausage, scallion oil, fried shallot, and house sauce with a choice of chicken or pork. I went with the pork which was nicely chargrilled. The entree didn't look too big, but it was quite filling. Service was quick. Overall, I'm glad I found this place!

This is already on my top five list in a single visit. Went for the basics: beef pho, and salad roll with tofu. I was initially put off by the short menu and few options to add toppings (I didn't see any tendon or tripe for example), and worried it would be too bland or too sweet--but it was not. The broth was deeply flavorful and more savory. Meats were generous and meatballs were exceptional, maybe the best I've had. The basil and sprouts were garden fresh, and unusually, the rice noodles were exceptional, not at all soft or pressed together. I could genuinely taste the love here. It extended to the salad rolls which were generously portioned and used lightly fried tofu which I prefer. One additional note about the broth. It's a richer style than I normally like so I couldn't drink it to the last drop, but I can't fault its great flavor. The service was above average, with a spirited vibe. Loved everything, will be back to try more on the menu.

Service was very nice and quick. In requesting a to-go container for my leftovers, the lid they handed me didn't fit the container. I brought my friend for her to try a new viet spot since she typically only goes to one spot and she absolutely loved it! Our favorite was the Banh Khot which are mini crispy pancakes with shrimp. I was not expecting it at all. They definitely do not joke about their servings. My friend got the Bun Bo Hue, lemongrass beef soup, which was better than other ones I've had in Downtown Oakland but not as lemongrassy as I like. We ordered the tofu bahn mi, tofu, veggies and mushroom vermicelli and Vietnamese pancake with shrimp. They were all amazing. My fiancé had the vermicelli bowl which he said was pretty good with all the stirred fried tofu, veggies and mushrooms. What was surprising the most was the Vietnamese pancake. It was so good that I would come back for just this appetizer. It has a crunchy texture on the outside, but the inside was so creamy. Wrap that with a lettuce and dip in the fish sauce and wow! My mouth was happy. Service here is top notch! The server was super attentive and he knew just when we needed more napkins and more water. Yes, I tried it over a dozen years ago and have little recollection of my dining experience (review: https://yelp.to/8rBLt3xnAB). Probably just as well because this was our first time at this location. We came on a Saturday afternoon looking for a late lunch. It was a nice space with interesting decorating touches like a collage of vintage photos and magazine clippings in a ribbon-like pattern on the gray wall (Photo 6). The place was almost empty, which allowed us to take the corner table next to the window. The menu looked like a slightly upmarket take on Vietnamese fare. We decided to share a couple of dishes since we had tentative dinner plans later. We ordered the $17 Shrimp Papaya Salad, a decent enough mix of green papaya and carrots in decorative latticed slices, crispy allium, herbs, and six poached shrimp, drenched in a spicy fish sauce vinaigrette and topped with peanuts and Thai basil (Photo 9). Tasty but a bit bland and wet. We then shared the $25 Fried Chicken characterized as chicken tempura, but the execution was lacking. It consisted of slices of thigh meat covered in a rather moist coating. There was fermented soy aioli and a side of pickled daikon, carrot and cabbage slaw in miso soy dressing (Photo 10). Even though the thigh meat was welcome, the dish didn't quite hang together. At the same time, the ingredients were fresh, and frankly other menu options might've improved our satisfaction.
