I was craving pho, so I ordered takeout from DoorDash. It came with a bowl of beef broth, sliced onions, rice noodles, sliced steaks, beef brisket, beef tendon, and meatballs. It was served with a side of basil, cilantro, lime, and bean sprouts. Everything tasted really great. The broth was really fragrant, and all the food was packed really well!

I got to visit 84 Viet for the first time. I got the fresh spring rolls to go with pork and shrimp. The quality was great! Everything inside tasted super fresh. While I didn't eat in the restaurant, it was very clean and well organized. The service was quick, maybe 10 minutes for a walk-in order. I am excited to try more options another time.

Good late night eats. The place is clean, spacious, and food is good. The portions are large so you will definitely be full! I did wish the pho broth had a bit more flavor and was hotter. It was more of a luke warm temp and needed hot sauce/sauce to give it that extra flavor. The meat they give you is very generous and tasty though. There's lots to try on the menu and a good variety of things!

V1. Grilled Pork Vermicelli Noodles - A bowl features grilled pork slices topped with chopped green onions and crispy fried shallots, accompanied by rice noodles, pickled vegetables, and two spring rolls. A small metal cup contains a dark dipping sauce with sliced chili peppers. The dish is served on a black table, with a person wearing a purple shirt visible in the background. The presentation highlights traditional Vietnamese ingredients and flavors.

Clean cute place open until 3pm for lunch. Tried the VS1 dipping sauce and grilled pork egg roll vermicelli. Pork patty was the best thing, so flavorful and juicy. Grilled pork was on the lean side and only 1 egg roll which was small and plain. Service was alright until waitress started hovering over my shoulder with the machine to pay.

A small wooden table with a black top is placed in front of the bench, with a chair positioned at the table. On the table, there are utensils, a small container, and a bottle. The floor is tiled with large gray tiles, and a security camera is visible on the wall.

84 Viet opened where Bonchon was. New decor, murals, artifact.. spacious seating. Opening late by 30 minutes. Waited 15 minutes for kitchen to prep. Bathroom towel dispenser malfunctioned. Was allowed to seat inside until they opened. Soft music, 5 flatscreens. Single associate on floor. Kitchen understaffed? Offerings (Vietnamese): bahn mi, pho, appetizers, vegan plates/banh mi, desserts, drinks, rice plates, Vermicelli, specials... Bites: P3-special pho combo (16.99) -came 10 minutes after ordering. Bowl had wide top, narrow base. Broth tastes 5 hours+ slow boil in beef bones. Etc. very beefy flava. -plentiful beef balls, tendons, briskets, fillet mignon melty quality. Onions, cilantro, parsley too. -toppings on side: jalepeno, bean sprouts, basil, lime squeeze. *seldom experience this level of beef broth quality. Tummy/eyes very satisfied. 5 stars quality/quantity, worthy. May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month

This is one of the rare moments where I opted for something else other than pho at a Vietnamese restaurant and honestly, the vermicelli dish I ordered did not disappoint. Despite looking a bit bland, it was actually quite the opposite. There was so much flavor. I love the variety of texture, especially the layers of crunch from different sources - the bean sprouts, the lettuce, the crispy pork belly. Mmmm I wish there was more crispy pork belly because that was the star of that dish. And, halfway through eating my meal, I actually ordered a small bowl of pho because I was curious. Yes, their soup is also good!

Ambiance was cute, decor for holidays. The service was super quick, no physical menu, QR code and paid for meal before we sat down. Super easy. We got the spicy mayo tempura shrimp absolutely delicious little kick, we also got the House pho, such a good ratio of meat, a great amount of noodles, we also got thai tea and it was super tasty. My friend got a Bahn-mi, she typically doesn't like them, but she found the grilled chicken delicious. Flavor was good and the bread was fresh and even had a bit of a crunchy. Good quality. We throughly enjoyed our experience!

Looking for a place for dinner before a show in the area, we stumbled upon 84 Viet located in Berkeley Way off Shattuck. After checking out the menu posted on the menu and then Yelp, we decided to give it a try. At 5pm, there was only one time of diners in this modern, bright, clean and spacious dining room. The waiter welcomed us and sat at a table towards the back and from talking with him, he was their chef is from Hanoi. The menu consists of pho, buns, rice plates, banh mi, and specialty dishes. Listed under the Must Try signature dishes, I decided to order the Hanoi Style Grilled Pork Vermicelli with dipping broth. The plate consisted of a bowl of vermicelli, a bowl of grilled pork belly and pork patties in a sauce, a side of vegetables and a side of basil, mint and cilantro. I spooned the meat and sauce into the bowl of vermicelli with some herbs and this was delish. The sauce was with the noodles and the meats were so flavorful. My first time experiencing this Hanoi specialty and I enjoyed it. My dining partner had the Grilled pork and egg rolls vermicelli. The pork was not grilled brown and the egg rolls skin was different than the typical Vietnamese restaurant. I guess this is Hanoi style. The second egg roll was brought out separately. We enjoyed our food and glad we both experience Hanoi style for the first time. We will have 84 Viet on our dining list before shows in the future.

Sadly, this is my first not-so-good review. TL/DR: I truly had high hopes for this place, as my first visit several months ago was a great experience. Unfortunately, the last couple of times have progressively gone the other way. The wait time for food has gotten longer, and the flavor in the pho broth is lacking. The cost to value ratio just doesn't add up for the dine-in experience. The customer service varies, likely due to inexperience or to individuals who simply don't care about the business and just need a paycheck--which I understand. What shocked me was finding an extra $5.60 charge when I reviewed my transaction. Despite already paying an additional $4 for extra onions and cilantro (+ giving a decent tip since it's not always easy being a server and she was nice overall) wait time much longer than before, and noticing messy table areas (even though it gets busy), I was the only walk-in customer at the time, and the other table of six had just left. Granted 10 mins in a few more customers arrived. I would think that with all the time spent waiting for food, other tables could have been cleared. While I acknowledge that there were to-go orders being picked up, it's disappointing that this impacts the dine-in experience. Needless to say, what was supposed to be a $16.99 bowl of pho somehow ended up costing me $33.60. I understand inflation and the costs of running a business, and hopefully paying a fair wage; but paying $30+ for mediocre Pho--especially when the broth was bland and not as hot this time around and like many other Pho places--felt excessive. To top it off, whoever answered the phone today could use some training in phone etiquette with customers. As I tried to remedy the situation with them, although the conversation with another employee talking about another customer seemed more important to them without asking me to hold. Which made me hang up and write this review. Again, I really had high hopes for this place. I probably sound like a "Karen/Ken" at this point, but as a heads up: check your transactions so this doesn't happen to you!

Came to 84 Viet to try some Pho. The food was amazing and delicious. We also received amazing customer service. We also grabbed a Thai tea that was really good. A dinosaur pho that was delicious with a huge meat on a bone. An oxtail pho that was also delicious. Finally a grilled chicken noodle. Highly recommend bringing your family if you're in the mood for pho.

Service was fast and staff was very friendly! The soup broth is not as concentrated as I am used to but it still hit the spot on a cold rainy day after studying :)

We DEVOURED our pho. All three of us were fishing for the last tiny bits of rice noodles in our bowls of broth. I thought the broth was perfectly seasoned. Pho is the perfect meal for when you want something both comforting and refreshing. Definitely a bit pricey to sit down and eat here, but service was excellent. Lots of cute floral decor and very spacious.

    Gigantic pho is small

Gigantic pho is small, able to feed two hungry people. Currently $99, that is correct, almost $100. We, a group of four, came here to celebrate my brothers graduation and ordered the gigantic pho. We asked ahead if it would serve 4 people and we were told it would. We expected it would too as it costs $100 and while this is already expensive for pho, $100/4=$25.00 a bowl of pho (while pho is $15-18) we expected it to be a little pricier because it is kind of a novelty item. Safe to say, gigantic pho is small. Very small. There is a good amount of broth and two large bones which fills up the bowl but the bowl is quite small too. The noodle is about 1.5 portions and the broth and the meat a good 2 or slight 3 portions. The gigantic pho is not enough to feed 3 people with regular appetites even at $100 dollars a bowl ($33 a person) which makes it very very expensive and not worth it in my opinion. It is enough to feed hungry people at $50 a person though. Instead, just order their regular pho 2 times and you'll have the same amount. Four times if you actually want to feed four people. Another reviewer mentioned the small portions, especially noodle portions and I thought it was small for two hungry people. However, it is small for two people with regular appetites at $50 per person! While the pho is average for Oakland, our broth was also lukewarm after waiting for it for 30 minutes even though we called ahead an hour ago. And as a previous reviewer has mentioned, the cuts of meat can be a little tough and thick.

They are a mom and daughter restaurant so family owned; everything is made to order so don't expect quick service especially if it's busy! We ordered the Banh Khot as an appetizer and it was so yummy. Crispy yet soft, hot, and full of flavor, it's accompanied with lettuce and mint. I ordered the spicy pork belly and yes it's very spicy but full of flavor. The portion had 5-6 large pieces of pork with 2 eggs as well, and with a side of rice. This place is lowkey on the outside but inside is clean, tables are well spaced out, and they play light music so you don't have to yell at each other. Would definitely come back here again!

With my luck, my car would smell like hello kitty for weeks. Anyhow, I found Mẹ Và Con on yelp, a mother-daughter owned resto that opened in 2024. They serve bánh khọt and have outdoor seating so we headed over. Thankfully, we arrived before the Sunday dinner rush (~5:45 pm) and before the parking lot was filled. It adds so much flavor and makes the whole dish feel extra satisfying. One small tip, I'd recommend asking for a bit more lime with the dipping sauce. The pepper-to-lime ratio leans pretty heavy on the pepper side, and I personally like a little more acidity to cut through the richness of the beef. The eggroll appetizer is also worth mentioning. They come out nice and crispy, and wrapping them in the lettuce with the dipping sauce adds a great contrast in texture and a fresh layer of flavor. It's a simple touch, but it really elevates the dish. The pho is solid and pretty standard, no complaints there, but the shaking beef is definitely the star. The atmosphere is very family-friendly. There were kids playing and interacting with each other, which gave the place a warm, community feel. My little one was a bit shy when some kids came over to say hi, but it was still a welcoming moment. The interior is spacious, so I wouldn't worry about bringing a larger group.
