    5 Spice Chicken Banh Mi

Great local hole in the wall sandwich shop with soup as well. There's a little seating area which is very cute and has a Peet's nearby in addition to it all the sandwich was tasty and very reasonably priced a good value.

Perfect. We ordered the tofu bahn mi, a shrimp spring roll and a tofu spring roll. The rolls were simple and delicious, lettuce and mint wrapped noodles with tofu/shrimp on top. They give you a small plastic cup so you can have as much of the yummy peanut sauce that is provided on the tables as you want. Sitting outside in the sunshine next to the lovely roses was relaxing. The staff is efficient and friendly.

After several takeout orders for lunch, we realized this is a go to Banh Mi place for us. We usually order Tofu Banh Mi, & Tofu spring rolls. The service is consistently fast even during lunch time. We found all items on the menu to be reasonably priced, and above orders were always served with generous portions. We mostly use this place as a takeout joint but have seen people enjoy their outdoor seating. Will definitely return for more lunch Banh Mis!

As far as the atmosphere goes, this place has got it goin' on. Great music, super cozy, mellow vibes; just a nice spot to chill while enjoying your lunch. BUT... there was nothing really special about their banh mi sandwich. It was spicy as hell and packed full of meat, but if ultimately lacked the traditional banh mi taste that I'm used to. Stopped here on a whim since my first choice pick didn't really fill me up. The first thing I noticed was the music that was playing. They be jammin' up in there! It kind of reeled me inside quick. The menu was looking quite delicious too. Banh mi's, pho and rice bowls?! All of the things that Shayla enjoys to eat. Sign me up! I was eyeing the five spice chicken banh mi and decided to get it. One of the cashiers warned me that it would be pretty spicy, but I didn't really take heed to his warning. DAYUM that ish was spicy! So much so that I actually started sweating while eating it. A fair warning to all: if you plan on getting the five spice chicken banh mi, it is HELLA spicy! Although I enjoyed the spice, I felt that it was too overwhelming and took away from the natural flavors of the sandwich. Maybe it would have been better if they had toned down the heat a notch or two, but this just didn't taste like the traditional banh mi's that I'm used to. I will say that the bread was super fresh and it was loaded up for the Gawds. I don't know, something just didn't really taste right with it. It was missing something, but the spice level was too overpowering for me to even figure out what it was. The inside space is pretty tiny but they also share a communal outdoor patio with the other businesses nearby. I love that they have a condiment stand out front where you can load up on extra veggies and toppings if you want more. The kids working here are super sweet and accommodating. They were working hard and that's always a great sight to see. I would definitely give them another chance. Maybe I just chose the wrong sandwich this time around. Would love to give some of their other food items a try to see if they impress.

Fabulous family run Vietnamese food, with great vermicelli bowls and tasty Pho. Outdoor seating is great for a sunny lunch.

With my luck, my car would smell like hello kitty for weeks. Anyhow, I found Mẹ Và Con on yelp, a mother-daughter owned resto that opened in 2024. They serve bánh khọt and have outdoor seating so we headed over. Thankfully, we arrived before the Sunday dinner rush (~5:45 pm) and before the parking lot was filled. Rezzies are accepted (via phone). M E N U Viet Cuisine with some elevated, modern twists (no specific regional specialty). Smaller menu than your typical hole-in-the-wall with 25-30 items including AZN fusion items like shrimp ceviche, kimchi pasta and tom yum pasta. Beer, wine, and soju cocktails available. F O O D * Bò Tái Chanh: Beef Carpaccio w/ Thai basil, fried shallot, house tangerine sauce ($18): https://tinyurl.com/nhcn9kxw - Served at dinner only Fresh, tender slices of beef carpaccio with a sweetness from the tangerine sauce and white onions. I appreciate their twist (tangerine sauce instead of nước chấm) but it was too one note for me...IMO, it needed acid and herbs. Plus, I miss the texture of peanuts. * Bánh Khọt: Viet Mini Pancakes w/ shrimp, coconut milk batter, herbs, pickles ($24): https://tinyurl.com/34nx7sat - Served at dinner only Fav dish of the night, the savory bánh khọt was delicately crispy and slightly custardy in the center with a snappy shrimp drizzled with fragrant scallion oil. It came with romaine, mint, and perilla leaves neatly layered for easy wrapping. The lettuce was a bit soft and soggy tho, and I think they forgot the pickled veggies. Served with a tiny portion of tangy sweet nước chấm. * Bò Lúc Lắc: Shaking Beef w/ soy, garlic, onion, cherry tomato, arugula ($26): https://tinyurl.com/3rkpukct Meltingly tender cubes of filet mignon but light on the seasoning and aromatics so it was bland. Also, was hoping for more smoky wok hei flavor. * Thịt Kho Tàu: Braised Pork Belly w/ hard boiled eggs, rice ($21): https://tinyurl.com/mr2evryw - Includes bowl of rice A traditional dish served during Lunar New Year, it symbolizes prosperity, warmth, and stability. Chunks of pork belly are caramelized in sugar and braised in coconut soda and fish sauce - rich, savory with a good ratio of lean meat to fat (4 pieces). Wish they used more braising liquid when warming up, as some pieces were a bit dry. S E R V I C E Warm, friendly hospitality. Food does take awhile tho...our first dish took about 30 minutes to arrive. A M B I A N C E Casual, no-frills indoor area with about 10-12 tables. Cute covered patio in the parking lot with 5 tables and fairy lights. Overall, Mẹ Và Con is a great place to introduce people that are new to Viet cuisine and/or you're looking for Viet dishes with different twist.

A huge shout-out to Tigon for going the extra mile to provide vegan catering for the funeral…read morereception of my father. I had initially tried to cater from a vegan establishment. Hands down, this is the best shaking beef (Bò Lúc Lắc) I've had. The beef is unbelievably tender,…read moreand all those rich, savory juices soak into the bed of lettuce underneath. It adds so much flavor and makes the whole dish feel extra satisfying. One small tip, I'd recommend asking for a bit more lime with the dipping sauce. The pepper-to-lime ratio leans pretty heavy on the pepper side, and I personally like a little more acidity to cut through the richness of the beef. The eggroll appetizer is also worth mentioning. They come out nice and crispy, and wrapping them in the lettuce with the dipping sauce adds a great contrast in texture and a fresh layer of flavor. It's a simple touch, but it really elevates the dish. The pho is solid and pretty standard, no complaints there, but the shaking beef is definitely the star. The atmosphere is very family-friendly. There were kids playing and interacting with each other, which gave the place a warm, community feel. My little one was a bit shy when some kids came over to say hi, but it was still a welcoming moment. The interior is spacious, so I wouldn't worry about bringing a larger group. And for accessibility, there are a couple of steps at the entrance, but there's a lift on the right side, and a flat entrance in the back for wheelchairs or strollers, which is a nice touch.
