My family was looking for an option for dinner that wasn't too far from our lodging and decided to give this place a try. The ambiance and service was very nice but the food was where we felt the experience fell short. We started with crabby fries which I found hard to eat and my mom got the New England chowder which was touted as award winning. It was good but my mom said it tasted pretty standard. For our main course I got the triggerfish with a key lime sauce, collards and black beans and rice. The sauce overpowered the fish, the collards were fine but needed seasoning. The black beans were the favorite part of my meal they had a very good flavor profile. read more

Great food, good service, nice view of the ocean! Right across from St. Augustine beach, this place has always been a fav of mine. I love how close it is to the beach and while you wait for a table there is a nice neighborhood you can walk through nearby with shady path and beautiful houses. I really enjoyed the desserts here! The salad gives you fairly good amount of shrimp. Great for if you want something on the lighter side. They used to have lobster mac and cheese--I'm not sure if they do anymore but I would always get that it was always so good! They gave you a lot of lobster as well! read more

Stopped in for a late lunch today and were seated immediately. We had a great server who answered our questions and served us promptly. The food was very good. I had the Minorcan chowder and it was one of the best I have had. Spice level was perfect and it was chock full of stuff. I had the Sunset Salad with grilled triggerfish. Fish was a huge portion and was cooked perfectly. I would have liked a bit more lettuce in my salad but the surprise ingredient was the sweet potato hummus. It was terrific. My husband had the fish tacos with rice and beans. He was very pleased with his choice. We sat in the room with the bar. They have fans going because the windows open up to their front porch. It is a great area to sit if you find air conditioning too cold. The menu is very large and I would definitely like to try some of the other items. We will be returning soon. read more

This was our first stop for dinner and it was amazing!! The wait was a bit long, but well worth it. We had the coconut shrimp and crabby fries as an appetizer and both were excellent!! I had the red snapper dinner and it was amazing. My husband had the salmon and he enjoyed it but liked the red snapper better. The mango mojito was one of the best we've had in a long time. Came here bc they had tonssss of gluten free options! very casual beachy kind of vibe - it definitely seemed like a local spot. we got there around 7 and it was packed. we ended up finding a booth near the bar area (it was realllly loud) because we wanted to watch the dolphin preseason game but they didn't offer it we decided to stay anyway - we ordered the dry rub wings as an appetizer and each ordered the fish sandwich. the wings were SO CRISPY, SO DELICIOUS and the ranch was chefs kiss. food was excellent here and i would definitely return. can't stop thinking about the wings hahaha read more

We stopped here hoping we would have lunch with a nice view, (it is called Sunset Grille after all) but the view was of the busy road and the back of some hotels and a donut shop. However, the staff was super friendly, we were seated right away upstairs, and the fried pickles and triggerfish sandwich were amazing. I never had Triggerfish before. It was light, juicy, and sweet with the perfect amount of blackened seasoning. We didn't find out that St Augustine is known for daytil peppers until a few days later, so we would definitely return and try their version of Bang Bang shrimp with datil sauce. There are a lot of delicious looking items on the menu. read more

Love the airy open feel of this restaurant with large windows that are open to the outdoor dining area! Even the bar area has cushioned, comfortable bar seats! The staff is friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was attentive and checked on us often. I started with a scrumptious cup of the Minorcan Conch Chowder. Oh man! Perfectly spiced and so satisfying! My main was the Shrimp Platter and I ordered my shrimp grilled with the two sides of coleslaw and collard greens. Everything was so well seasoned I didn't even need cocktail sauce. My husband decided to try the Nina's French Toast. The Rice Krispie French toast had a satisfying crunchy texture and the accompanying spicy honey syrup, Datil ranch, and homemade pickled vegetables paired perfectly! Sunset Grille was fine. The evening we dined here, it was beautiful evening to be outside and unfortunately the roof seating was not open. We sat outside on the first level, still a nice spot. Server was professional and the beer was cold. I elected the Fish and Chips, which were OK. In Florida, there are so many good options for fish and this was pretty mid range. I also ordered the Key Lime Pie which was also OK, a bit bland. For my taste, it could have had a bit more of the Lime flavor. Overall an average outing. read more

The trouble with ordering out is if something is clearly wrong you can't send it back to the kitchen. I ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs to go and they were hard, tough and a waste of $21. If the kitchen help had at least lathered on a bit more sauce they might have been palatable. I should have stayed with their overpriced Baja fish sandwich. read more

I really love st Augustine. Everywhere we've been service has been great as it is here. This place is a short stroll away from the beach which is nice after a great meal. The food is top tier with top quality and very fair pricing. In California these prices would double and portions cut In half. I've only sampled seafood offerings and they all have been great. Went here a couple of weeks ago and will NEVER go back. My shrimp had absolutely no taste. I asked for a sauce to put on it and there was fee #1. My significant other had shrimp scampi. Who makes shrimp scampi with elbows. She felt like she was 8 again. Paid the bill where I found fee #2 a processing fee and fee #3 a fee for using my credit card. Again we will NEVER go here again. What a great stop on A1A. It's a no frills, off the beach and eat spot, but I'd certainly come back! Highly recommend the New England clam chowder! It was hearty but not thick and something Id still eat on a hot summer day! Even my kid liked it. We also got the bang bang shrimp. It was lightly fried, so you could really taste the shrimp. The sauce wasn't spicy at all - we ended up adding some more spice to it. I would certainly order this again as well. Glad we stumbled upon this restaurant and would certainly come back! read more

Super yummy lunch!! My ahi tuna bowl was delicious (I will definitely be back just to order this again!), and my dads sunset salad was equally as good! Restaurant was incredibly busy. We had a party of 6. We were seated right away. Considering it seemed like our server had been seated 3 tables back to back was great. We got our drinks in a timely manner. The food took a little bit longer than we'd like but it was very busy. I got the Ahi Poke bowl. It was good. Other people at the table got the shrimp platter (ok-ish). Overcooked and lacking any significant flavor. The rest of the table said their meal was ok (6/10). We had dinner at Sunset Grill last night. We went a few months ago and it was wonderful, however last night was terrible. My boyfriend ordered fried shrimp which were bland. I ordered shrimp scampi which was the worst I've ever had. The shrimp tasted as though they were not fresh, the sauce had a horrible flavor, and it was served over elbow pasta. I've never not seen it served over linguine. To top it off, we were charged a service fee which we were not told about and it was just two of us. We will not be back. read more
