We had to be in the area because we were dropping our grandson off to spend the day with his friends. Needing to find something decent for breakfast, I searched yelp for recommendations and came upon this little café. My expectations were high due to such glowing reviews on here, but my husband and I felt it was okay. He got a slab of corn beef hash that was barely thicker than a piece of paper. It looked large, but it was totally flat. I had eggs Benedict, but my muffin was mushy, I don't think they even put it in the toaster at all, plus they make it with sliced lunch meat ham instead of like a thick piece of ham. I had to pay extra for a side of potatoes to go with my eggs Benedict, which I've never really heard of before. Usually eggs Benedict comes with hashbrowns or potatoes. Also a problem I had was that I ran out of coffee and need to drink while I'm eating and, nobody really ever came over until we were done which is when I had a chance to ask for water. It feels very warm and welcoming if you've been there before, like it's just a place for locals. It's not a place that I would say you need to avoid, but it's not a place that I would ever go out of my way to find again. read more

Recently moved to the area and fell in love with this breakfast place immediately. It's not fine dining, nor is it fancy, but it's cozy. The staff is very nice. The only negative thing to say is at times when it's very busy, they have no choice but to seat you in the back room which isn't as comfortable of an atmosphere as their main seating. The food is typical diner food, but the prices are awesome compared to a lot of other restaurants in the area. Small businesses like this cafe that bring originality to the area is what a lot of people look for, myself included. Another review stated to tidy up and that it feels like they are at their aunts house. I think that's the point, to feel like you're at home. If you want fancy dining go to a different establishment. Stopped by this small town, and before leaving, had some good food here. A very friendly atmosphere, many many locals chit-chatting and hanging out on a Monday morning. We could tell they were busy, so food took a little extra time but they apologized for it. Cool mug selection, all different types. Got the corned beef hash, 2 eggs, toast, and homefries. Homefries and corned beef hash had that crusted crunchy goodness that I love, and the eggs over easy. One ehhh parts was the toast. It wasn't warm so the butter didnt really melt, and was cold. I've grown up in Clarks Summit and somehow neglected to stop by the Sunrise Cafe until today. Generally when I was looking to eat breakfast out, I would head to a little diner down the road in Chinchilla. However, I was feeling adventurous and decided to try someplace new. I am so glad that I did. A bright sunny atmosphere was the backdrop for a completely delicious breakfast. Additionally the service was excellent. The staff is friendly helpful and very accommodating. The only disappointment was that they did not have bagels on the menu for the egg sandwich (hubby's disappointment). I thoroughly enjoyed the Greek omelette and chocolate chip pancakes. I had a very enjoyable breakfast here, it's definitely better than your average diner! I got here around 8 or so on a Saturday and it was already pretty busy, so that's a good sign of quality food! I tried the short stack of pancakes and their "screwed up breakfast". The "screwed up" is a choice of meat (I got bacon), home fries, and cheese mixed in with scrambled eggs and served with toast. I usually like to keep all of these items separate, so I didn't know if I was going to like it or not, but I ended up liking it a lot. I did need to add salt and pepper and I wish the home fries were a little more crisp, but the eggs and cheese were great and the bacon was nice and crisp and added a great flavor to the dish. And as a bonus the toast was good too! I got white bread for mine, it's the super cheap generic stuff but it was toasted nicely and had the right amount of butter on it. The pancakes were good but I kinda felt like they were missing something. They were a little on the thick side but they weren't fluffy, they were kinda dense so they're pretty filling (nothing wrong with that!). There was a lot of vanilla flavor to them, so if that's you're thing then you'll probably love these. I thought they could have maybe used a little salt, as odd as that sounds, and maybe some more butter in the mix. The one downfall is that they were served with margarine instead of butter, real butter would have made them so much better. The coffee was great though! I would definitely like to come back next time I'm in the area, I like the neighborhood this is in and the space itself is cozy. The service was good too. Keep in mind that it's cash only. read more

Our server was very sweet. We got our food quickly. My omelet wrap was just okay. The coffee wasn't very good. But barely anyone was wresting masks. Many people came in with no masks and no one asked them to put one on. When we checked out the employee wasn't wearing a mask. The restaurant was very full no spaces between table. There were many many regulars there so that has to say something about the restaurant but just be forewarned that during Covid times I definitely would not go there again. read more

Breakfast was mediocre at best, served on paper plates, and the cold drinks were served in paper cups. Pretty much a hang out for the old timers in town. The open garbage can with wheels right in the middle of the floor was a little offputting. The wait staff was friendly. They only take cash so make sure you have it. All of the positive reviews on here are spot on. I love the cozy old school vibe. Ecclectic decor with a fabulous collection of roosters greets customers every morning. Wait staff is top notch, I was suprised that they not only remembered my name by the third time I'd been in, but knew how I liked my order. I usually get the Screwed up Breakfast with bacon. All the breakfast food is amazing. Coffee is great! Locals who frequent this place for lunch say the soup is wonderful. I haven't tried lunch here yet, but plan on it. Hands down the best breakfast in the Summit area. I waited a half hour for my husband to show up and they were cool with it, kept refilling my coffee. I pre-ordered my son's french toast sticks which he loved as did I. My western omelet was very very satisfying. The husband got the pancakes and sausage which he talked about for weeks. Very fluffy, cooked just right. But almost as good as the good was the staff. Seems like they know their customers well as they're a lot of regulars that frequent the establishment. One of the waitresses even gave my husband a job recommendation for where she works full time. I left my wallet behind and the owner came searching for me on the street.
