We hadn't been to Krispy Kreme in quite a while because we have no locations close to us. On our way NYC, we passed through Clark's Summit and knew we had to stop. There were many new flavors since our last visit and all our old favorites. We had questions and the employee helping us, Debra, was so patient and friendly while she answered our questions. The "HOT" light wasn't on but our donuts were very fresh. Most of the traffic there is for takeout orders. Parking is available right in front of the store and is an easy on-off option. We were there for a pit stop. The restrooms are clean and well-maintained. They have an automated assembly-line for making donuts, and if you time it right, you might be able to see it in action. Well first off let me say that I have visited this location many many times and I personally absolutely love Krispy Kreme donuts. Especially when you can get them fresh right off the line. They even have a light in the window that flashes when they are making new ones in case you're driving by and having to see it and you want to peel in there and grab some. Due to my job description I'm usually at this location around 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. which is fine because that's when the donuts are usually fresh and I can grab a coffee and head home. Bathrooms are always nice and clean and I've never had any issues at all with any employees there they are all very professional and patient while you stand around and choose which donuts you want. They also have specialty donuts during specific holidays and unfortunately I missed it last summer a key lime pie donut that just tastes incredible. Now of course for you people following me you understand there's going to be something bad about this place in my review :-(. It's a lot of this is not their fault as covid-19 happened so they are short staffed and because of this over the past year or so during the times I've been here the lobby has been closed not a big deal though however because the drive-thru is open 24 hours. Right now for example it's 3:34 in the morning and I am at this location. Google says the drive-thru is open 24 hours, there's a sign in the parking lot that says lobby temporarily closed drive-thru open 24 hours. Unfortunately the drive-through is currently closed. I spoke with a gentleman who happened to come outside to throw some trash away or something and he said yeah because of covid they are so short-staffed that even the drive-thru isn't open 24 hours anymore. I didn't want to come off as being rude however my first thought was well why don't you go over there and take down that sign? Maybe update the Google hours however that would be up to management, but still it could be done. So very sadly I am not going to drive home without donuts. There's a great variety of flavors from oreo to cinnamon. It's definitely a place to check out, but be careful... Too much sugar is not good :') Service: The front lady were extremely helpful in letting me take the time necessary to pick out flavors considering it was my first time. Frequently my husband and I stop at this location on our way to weekend trips to Philly as it's right off the highway. It's your typical Krispy Kreme which is a special treat for us, in general as we no longer have locations in our home town. I love the Hot traditional glazed and really love it when they have the Hot traditional donut holes available. Thru sheer luck we happened upon this Krispy Kreme while driving up Interstate 81 on our way to visit Niagara Falls. The freshly made donuts here, which you can see thru the windows in their open kitchen, were the best donuts I've ever had. And I've had them all. From Dunkin Donuts, where I did most of my studying in college (and picked up a lot of second hand smoke) to expensive gourmet hipster donut shops in Manhattan. The signature Krispy Kreme donut aka the original glazed was just made when we got here the first time. Excellent! Krisy Kreme is without a doubt one of the best donuts you will ever eat. I mean, they are all soft, fresh, tasty, delicious and really look good too. It's too bad they received such bad press some year's ago. They really offer a great product, just do not eat a dozen a day. There shops are always conveniently located on main roads with easy access and exit. They also have plenty of parking. I like the drive through but also like to see everything available. Glad they have an indoor shop in Penn Station in New York. All there free standing places are pretty much the same. Big, bright with extremely friendly team members. Nothing like a craving for something sweet. To my surprise we found this Krispy Kreme right off the highway. We picked up a dozen assorted donuts/ lemon filled, raspberry ry filled, original glaze, and boston creme. We also order ice coffee. Although the iced coffee could have been better as we had it black and the coffee had a small amount of acidity, even when paired with a donut. There are no tables for seating in or out, the place seemed exceptionally clean and the staff was wearing masks so it was good to see they follow protocol. We really enjoyed it. read more

I haven't had a Krispy Kreme donut in probably 12-15 years. I remember them opening in Rochester (my hometown) around the time I was in college, and within a couple of years it was closed. I also remember them being very sweet, very airy, easily compressed in the mouth, and overrated. But, they had a cool robot donut machine. Fast forward to 2019, and while driving through town my friend and I saw one. We stopped in on the way back as I had to relive this part of my life (who knows if IT would be around still in another 12-15 years?) The robot machine wasn't on but I took some pictures and then looked in their display case. They had at least a dozen donuts, more than I remembered, but most were based on the round glazed donut (strawberry glaze, coffee glaze, sprinkles, etc.) They did have a few filled donuts. Since we were on our way home to dinner I could only get one, so I got a strawberry glazed donut. It was very sweet, very airy, and easily compressed in my mouth. But it wasn't overrated. To have something you thought was gone forever will do that to you. Now, my friend didn't get a donut. He passes by here now and then. He said that if the "hot" sign was on outside, indicating that they were making them fresh, he would have eaten one. But not now. To him, they were just overrated. I had my very first Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnut about the same time as I got some teeth and was able to chew. A family friend would always stop by on Sunday morning and bring one dozen original glazed doughnuts. They would always be so fresh that the doughnuts were still warm, and the sugar glaze was still sticky. That was more than fifty years ago. I was passing by on an early Sunday morning and in not the best mood actually, so I stopped in and treated myself to a dark roast coffee and one original glazed doughnut. It literally was like going back in time. It was just as amazing as it was all those years ago and it saved my day, I was "uplifted" for lack of a better word and have been back every Sunday since. I found the Kreme de la Kreme of donuts! For around $3, I tried 3 donuts: glazed raspberry creme filled, glazed regular, and chocolate ice custard filled donut. This was listed in order of my favorite to lesser favorite. The tartness of the raspberry added a nice balance to the overly sweet nature of a glazed donut. I like yeast-raised donuts much more than cake donuts because of its fluffiness and lightness. They even have donuts that are filled with chocolate creme instead. They also sell cake-style donuts. They have a drive-thru. I don't know if folks compare Krispy Kreme's to Dunkin's but there is an obvious winner in this competition in my eyes (hint: it's starts with a K). Krispy Kreme school fundraisers always did well. I even though about having Krispy Kreme donut favors for my wedding because they offer really cute individual packaging for that. Hmmm This is a bakery location, and you can see the donuts coming out of the donut making machine and down the conveyor belt. Clearly they make the donuts sold around the area. You would think this would lead to fresh donuts for purchase there. Well, it may, but not the one I had. Tasted stale. Would be 3.5 stars... ***FYI - This franchise location does *NOT* participate in the Mobile Rewards Program. I told them I had a free doughnut reward offer, and they said (including the manager when the employee inquired about the rewards program) unfortunately this location isn't participating in the program. It was also moist and sticky from the sweet, smothered glaze that covered the doughnut. Ahh, freshness at its finest. I also ordered their unique Original Kreme Latte to go along with my breakfast treat. The latte was simply made up of espresso, steamed milk and their Original Glazed Doughnut flavored syrup. The taste was quite unique and it wasn't too sweet! The girl even offered whipped cream on top moments after I paid, which I accepted of course. The whole place appeared to be clean. A drive-thru was available for those who didn't want to stop in to buy. Giant windows were available for the patrons who wanted to see how the doughnuts were made, and seating with the classic KK paper hats were available. Limited souvenirs (t-shirts, travel tumblers, etc.) were also available. The Hot Light can be seen outside. This location is on US-11, which is also a prime spot for anyone who wants to come via I-81, I-476, US-6, and US-6 Business. The Hot Light hours are from 6AM-11AM, and from 6PM-11PM. Yesssss this stop made my day...my weekend!!! Watching those soft pillows cooking, flipping, glazing and then in my box was a fabulous experience! These donuts melt in your mouth and it's super cool watching them being cooked fresh and placed in your box fresh from the conveyer belt still warm. Now I have had donuts all over the lace and everybody has their own method that makes their donuts amazing. Although Krispy Kreme is a chain shop, I can't help but love their method. When you walk in you will be greeted to an intoxicating smell of dough and icing. If you didn't want a donut before you will definitely want one now. The key thing KK does different is they have all their donuts hot and fresh going down this conveyor. Icing pours on them like a dedicate dance of delicious. The donuts are good, but when you can get them fresh off the line they are amazing, and I wasn't able to get fresh ones on my first visit, but I did on my most recent one, and it really makes me wonder how the Dunkin Donuts down the street can even stay in business! I got a dozen with 4 of the fresh glazed ones. The strawberry frosted ones were ok, as was the oreo one. I thought the chocolate chip cookie one was really good though, the cream they used in it actually tasted like cookie dough! the chocolate on the cream filled donut was pretty good, and the cream was good too, but it was pretty light, I think I would have preferred a heavier boston cream filling. While the specialty donuts were good, I think next time when the fresh ones are available I might just strictly go with those ones. The only bad thing was the service. This is a regular rest stop for me when I am traveling a far distance and pass by Clarks Summit. Krispy Kreme is right off the highway and always has an open bathroom. It's open from 5:30am - 11pm or midnight daily. The drive thru is open 24hr a day. Today I had the chocolate cake donut which was a little dry. The original glazed was soft and sweet as always. They offer some seasonal drinks such as peppermint infused hot beverages in the winter. The frozen hot chocolate is one of the better ones I have had. The staff are always friendly and of course the service is fast. The donuts still stay fresh for a few days so sometimes I will get their half-dozen deal. As someone who's never been to a "real" Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, this was quite the treat. I've had Krispy Kreme doughnuts before in NYC, but I don't think that they were ever freshly made.
